Nexus 5X now being Toasted! (toastmade.com) - Nexus 5X Accessories

Toast is laser cut and handcrafted from sustainably grown, North American hardwoods, back by high grade adhesives from 3M. The hardwood veneers used are just shy of 1mm in thickness, so they add protection, grip, and gorgeousness, while retaining the sleek profile of the device. Easy to apply and remove, Toast will never harm your device, nor will it leave behind any permanent residue. Get a design or custom text "Toasted" (laser burned) into your cover for only $5. We'll even work with you to create a custom cover with your own design; just upload an image file and tell us how you'd like it laid out in the order instructions. Our customs designer will email you a rendering and work with you to get it all dialed in prior to sending it back to production for crafting.
We've been doing this for almost 4 years, and still the only ones wrapping devices in 100% wood. No plastic, no bull****; just real wood and leathery goodness, handcrafted with love in the USA.
Thanks for checking us out, and please let me know if you have any questions!

Very cool idea, only concern I can think of would be the wood covers in humid climates. I will be looking into this further tho. Thank you.

Our 3M adhesives are amazing, and we actually use different ones depending on the materials of the actual device. We've been shipping internationally since day one, and to some of the most humid climates in the world. Rest assured, it will never be an issue.

Website?

I have some concerns about this skins. As you said the adhesive is different and I saw that for removing it we should use a hair dryer. Back plate of the N5X looks like a little bit naive. May you guarantee that this skin won't damage N5X's back if I want to remove it?

Sounds interesting! Please post some pics when you have the 5X version ready! Send one to me if you want an honest review as well!

I too would love to be able to review one of these skins... I dropped you a pm about that last night, op.
I had never heard of Toast until last night, and I spent a good 2 hours on youtube checking out all the phones that it has been made for with all of the colors and optional patterns & etching. Extremely neat stuff.

Safe to assume the 6P is soon to follow? Any chance of leather for both devices? Inlay? Custom etching?

We're getting the 6P all dialed in right now, and we'll commence Toasting next week. I'll be sure to let you know when they're up on the site.
Both 5X & 6P are part of the Inlay Series as well, and we offer custom etching on everything.
As for leather, we determined that it's going to take a lot of design work on these guys, so we're holding off until more requests start coming in. I've added you to the list, and I'll be sure to keep ya updated!

Hitting the cover with a little heat from a hair dryer will help release the adhesive and it will come off with ease. If you do not do the hair dryer trick, there may be a little bit of adhesive left on the device, but you can literally roll it off with your fingertip. Rest assured, the OEM back will be exactly as it was prior to Toasting. We've covered countless devices without issue, however we would gladly replace your phone if it's damaged in the removal process.

Thank you for your quick response. I also want to be informed about durability. But I need an honest and objective response. It's wood so how durable is this skin? I don't mean protection.

Toast is built to last, and it ages gracefully. We use high quality hardwoods that receive 3 coats of a hand rubbed finish to protect from the elements. If it takes a hard hit, the wood may show a little scuff or scratch, but it looks natural. You can also apply a tiny amount of olive oil and it'll blend right in, but I personally prefer the worn look.

At least for me, durability, as far as cosmetic looks go, wouldnt be an issue. I love the look of aged wood. Love the idea of making my phone look like something carved from an ancient forest, transported back in time and now just rediscovered.

Very cool! Great idea.
Great idea, glad I kept my box.
Same here I always knew that a box with magnets should be held on to....Magnets I tell ya!
Was I dense not to realize box was meant to become a stand??
Wish it could do landscape too tho.
Current project is a rubber flip cover with magnets to hold in place and when rolled back will stand Nook at downward angle to avoid glare when on gym treadmill ...
Sent from my Nook Color thanks to the contributors at XDA forums.
Wow, I can't believe I didn't put it together that it was a stand. Lame on me, awesome on you. Thanks
OMG....put the nook color box in the garbage just 2 days ago. Have my son out searching the trash bags right now!!!!!
Phew!!! He found it. Garbage would have gone out tomorrow morning.
Heh...go figure, free stand for our NC? Think I still have it around here somewhere....
I'm glad I saw this, that is a genius idea right there!
This is awsome. Thank god I still have my box. Thnx for the idea.
You have to wonder if B&N just assumed everyone would realize it was a stand. Maybe something for them to add in their ads?

If you want to make it so it can do landscape just cut notches the length of the foam rubber fingers on both sides of the box and cut the finger part off of the foam and your all set.

Damaged my casing, felt like crying :(

I've been meaning to order a silicon or other type of protective casing/sleeve etc since im quite prone to dropping devices, luckily never done any real damage.
Yesterday I had my Tab in the inside pocket of my jacket and when I pciked my jacket up to put it on it slipped out ad I swung jacket and the Tab came crashing down to the bumpy concrete floor.
My tab now has scratches/dints in two corners, I'm so [email protected] pissed at myself for leaving it this long to place order.
Needless to say I will be ordering right away.
Does anybody know of a way to get the casing replaced as I would kind of like it to be pristine as I've only had it little over a month.
Youd like to replace the plastic casing, have I understood you correctly?
I don't know if this would pay out at all.
I just googled for the casing. Best I could find is the backpart. But you said the edges where damaged.
I would advise you to rather spend that money on a really nice case and cover those dents up.
So I don't use a case either, because I don't want the tab to get bulky.
So I can't recommend a case too you.
But this relies quite heavily on personal preference in anyway.
galaxy tab 1.4.5 overcome
I actually preferred the full black casing and was hoping I could get a full black replacement but haven't seen any about anywhere. If/when I do ill make sure I post about it

If I were you i would not replace the casing but spend the money on a real good case, that can handle people's clumsyness (like you and me ), the Otterbox.

Now, now children, play nice before the big bad moderator(just kidding) comes and closes this thread....
1) Personally, you and I may not see eye to eye on the forums, and I smirked when I read the OP... but whateva
2) I'd think getting a nice sleek case would be a better option than cracking the tab open... unless you already have (which wouldn't surprise me ) I have one that adds only a couple of millimeters of thickness and protects with silicon AND plastic. (Nice latches on the corners provide extra protection on the sides/corners) I like it.
3) This thread is likely to get closed by days end... So I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in regarding the ACTUAL topic at hand.
4) This whole thing has been mildly amusing. Can't believe I actually sided with Athiest in my head

Skin your Pebble

Found a place with Pebble Skins, ordered one yesterday. Hoping to have it by end of week and will post pics once I have it on.
There are actually a couple of different vendors, here is the one I went with: http://www.slickwraps.com/Pebble-Watch-Wraps-Skins-s/537.htm
Recommended with reservations
UPDATE 7/23: So after working with Pauline at Slickwraps here is the deal. She was great in terms of doing what she could to make sure I was satisfied with the company and their service. I will say they have this part of the operation down once you connect with them. I did have some issues getting connected, but once I did she did an excellent job with follow-up and taking care of things.
After the debacle with the first wrap sent out, she sent me a replacement wrap which camed yesterday. A couple of notes on this. The wrap itself comes with a lot of extra pieces on the paper beyond what is needed for the buttons and Pebble. Confusing at first, but not that big a deal. The video that they provide is an excellent guide and I would also recommend highly watching it a couple of times.
Installing this one went very well, but one thing to be very careful about, the bottom border is slightly wider than the top border of the Pebble, and the Slickwrap does not mark the top or bottom. Maybe an arrow, or T and B on the mount paper would make this more intuitive.
Overall, pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it looks good, and I can see that for the customization of the Pebble it is a great idea. With my different band and face now I know my watch probably looks nothing like what anyone else around me might be wearing.
For the price, a good deal. Just make sure that you take your time, and follow the install directions, and if you are anal about alignment, you will probably find it tedious, but there is a good result in the end.
Good to hear that. Hoping to get my pebble from bestbuy soon.

Thanks, i'm very happy with it! They shipped my wrap with 2 screen protectors. I've had no issues with neither the wrap nor the screen protector. They're both staying put.
Somewhere I saw where someone who had a "skin" on their Pebble pulled it off only to find that the adhesive bonded to the anti-scratch coating on the Pebble's face and started pulling it off. Not sure whether it was on this forum or some other. It made me think twice about putting some skin or guard on the Pebble if it did this to it. It came off in patches and made the watch really ugly unless you scraped the rest of the coating off.
Worried about the finish on my just delivered white Pebble - but not if the protection itself ends up causing more damage!

1. The first one apparently was early in their process for making them and there were some quality control issues in the cutting lines and sizing. They have this issue resolved.
2. If you go to http://www.slickwraps.com/Articles.asp?ID=240 and look about the middle of the page there is a video specifically for the Pebble
It is a sticker, so no water needed. Just make sure you really clean your watch first.

Is there a way to keep this phone dry?

Thanks. I did before posting but didn't find anything useful. Still, have ordered it now, seems like a beast of a phone.
I think bachera was referring to something like this:
http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/thi...pany-will-8216waterproof-your-smartphone/9792
Article is a bit old so not sure if the company is still in business & doing this or if there are others doing it as well. Sounds really good, but until I hear of people repeatedly getting great results, I am a little hesitant. Especially since you have to send the phone away for a few days. I think I'd prefer to go for a good case.
More than a few days when I send it from here. Nah a good case would be nice.
The Active is a bit scary to me since ATT will only replace it once for water damage and from what I read its a temporary promotion.
If water resistance is a priority you might want to wait and see if one of waterproof skins that wrap your phone instead of a case do become available for LG G2.
However, your ports wont be usable and low or no sound i presume?

Just a heads up to anyone interested in NeverWet who hasn't used it. In their video they show the guy waterproofing an iPhone... But, if you actually buy it ($20 @ Home Depot/elsewhere) it says (on the packaging) NOT to spray it on electronic devices (which totally contradicts their promotional video). I bought some just for the hell of it and it works (for the most part) but it does leave a nasty residue and tends to flake off as time progresses. Just an FYI.

Review: Artech-21 Full Grain Leather Wallet Case

Hello fellow XDAers,
I was chosen to write a review for Artech's new product, which is a full leather wallet for our beloved G4's. Please see Amazon's link for the full product description:
http://www.amazon.com/Artech-21-Pre...qid=1433632855&sr=8-1&keywords=artech+case+g4
From the moment you open the package, the scent of real leather overcomes all of your other senses. The shipment arrived with bubble wrap within the envelope, with Styrofoam foam packaged within to prevent the wallet from being crushed during shipment. Upon closer examination, it is easy to tell that the leather is of premium grade by sight, if not by touch.
The fitment of the phone and credit card is superb. Once you slip your phone into position, the case holds onto it for its dear life. I attempted to "yank" it out of position to see how easily the phone would fall out if I were to take the case in and out of my pocket, but it's almost like the phone is completely locked into the slot. It feels extremely secure, thus, I would not worry about the phone slipping out for any reasons, accidental or not. The two credit card slots, as well as the transparent slot for the ID card fits nicely, yet, it allows for you to easily remove them from its slots in order for the cards to be used (swiped). The transparent ID slot has a hole for you to slide your finger to remove the ID from its slot.
The cutouts are literally perfect all around. The camera, volume buttons, flash, light sensors, speakers are perfectly aligned, while the headphone jack, charger port, the dual mics, and IR sensors are exposed for connectivity. All of which, still remains within the case to prevent damage, of course. The case closes with a magnetic clip that attaches on its own upon closing, and does not appear to be flimsy.
The case wallet is created based on "simplicity." It "only" allows two cards (three, if you include your ID), and would allow for just a few US bank (currency) notes. Personally, I'd give this a 4.75 star out of 5. The only reason is that I can't seem to fit bank notes without having to fold them. I can certainly understand that many people do not carry cash, and I do not often do it either. However, this is a wallet - and I would expect a wallet to hold cash properly.
I haven't got mine yet. I'm expecting it tomorrow and will double around with another review as that was my promise. Look at all them 100's. Haha
Let me know if anyone is interested in this case. I only wanted to do the review on it, but I'd like to stick to my Ringke since it's great for working out.

Let me know if anyone is interested in this case. I only wanted to do the review on it, but I'd like to stick to my Ringke since it's great for working out.

No, just giving away my review unit.
FYI to all interested, I have shipped my review unit to @officerdoofy today so that someone else can enjoy the goodies, too.
Do credit cards give any danger to the screen such as pressing down on each other and rubbing against each other?
I've always worried that this kind of flip case might scratch the screen.

The cards have no chance to rub against each other - they are clearly separated. I do not see the cards scratching the screen upon closing or opening, however, I suppose there is always a chance of this when you're storing your phone with other items in your pocket/purse, etc. Due to the padding of the area around the cards, I want to say that it is probably safe on your screen.

Just wanted to thank Charlie again for his generosity.
I got the case and I'm impressed with the quality of the leather and the crafting. Definitely has the genuine leather smell and it looks like it would need to take a pretty severe beating to bend or crease or crack. As far as functionality, I don't think I'm going to use it as a full time wallet since I've just gotten to used to my own, but one of the reasons I like this case is I usually just toss my phone into my messenger bag/laptop bag for work so this case will definitely protect the phone from keys, pens, cables rubbing against it... etc. or also if you ever put your phone down and worry about the surface being wet or dirty.
The plastic backing seems sturdy enough to keep the phone from shifting out or getting loose.
I will probably also end up buying the dark brown version. :good:

Credit cards dont have enough hardness to scratch the screen. And put a tempered glass screen protector on

To be honest , even your key can not make a scratch on the screen .
but the sand will ( Same thing as Diamond ,lol)
Just ordered the dark brown one from Amazon also. This is a quality product. :good: I can't stop holding the case to my nose and getting high off the smell of the leather. :silly:
