No noticeable change in battery as observed by me
No battery improvement. Its just monthly security update.
Now I also downgraded to lollipop
Battery problem I think will become auto stable,as now my phone get battery issue once in a week
Totally not worth using Lollipop for battery issue alone.
I will highly recommend you do the following:
- Upgrade to latest build.
- Root
- Use link2SD to move apps to SD card.
I have been using this setup for quite some time, and absolutely no issues.

Hello folks,
I got a SGS with carbon custom rom. It is running Android 4.2.2 . My battery life is pretty bad, i lose like 30% over night. I already reduced screen brightness but mobile standby still eats a lot of battery.
Would a new kernel solve my issue? Can someone recommend one, please?
Thank you.

It's not kernel. Install gsam Battery Monitor and check which apps are draining your battery. And check your wakelocks .
Try to greenify apps like viber, facebook etc
As you are also using 4.2.2 it has battery drain fast bug.

I use Semaphore on CM 10.2 (Android 4.3.1) but it is available for 4.2.2 and there are spme option for explame, deep sleep, maxbe it can help you ...

4.2.2 based ROMs have in general very high battery consumption. On the i9000 4.2.2 gives the very shortest battery life.
CM10.2 works much better, provides around 50% longer battery life and is faster
Thanks for your answers. I checked battery usage and wakelocks but there are no abnormalities. The highest amount of wake lock is caused by exchange but it doesn't seem to be the culprit of my battery problem. The device is awake only 9% of the time.
I found that mobile data causes the drain. When turning it on and tethering the connection I lose half my battery within 20 minutes. The battery usage is about the same when only using mobile data, without the tether.
I have installed semaphore, it gives me excellent standby times when not using mobile data...(2% over night)
2 questions: would flashing a new modem/radio solve my problem?
Is 4.3 suitable for daily usage? My current ROM is very stable and I wouldn't want to upgrade to 4.3 if it doesn't work well.
Also, I need tethering, does that work on cm10.2?
Thank you
UPDATE: I flashed Android 4.3, semaphore kernel and a new modem. I will observe the battery consumption over the next few days.
I've heard mixed reports regarding the latest ota update, some users have complained about the battery running dry in a much shorter time others reported apps crashing much more frequently. What do you guys think? Have anyone upgraded? Share your experiences please

I do not know about the OTA update, but I think the cause of the battery drain is more due to the applications installed on the device. For example after I upgraded to Lollipop (MaximusHD) my battery was draining ridiculously fast. Turns out it was the Gmail - INBOX application which was causing it. I would suggest clearing your device and checking the battery. Then slowly adding applications and testing it. Will definitely help you figure out the cause of the drain. Cheers.

thanks man, I think I'm gonna do a full reset after upgrading. should fix everything.
so your battery is now lasting more than it used to with android 4.4.3? I'm asking bc I've heard that android lollipop it's more battery friendly u know.
Well it has improved. But not drastically!. . Though I should mention my device is 2 years and a few months old, and I haven't really taken good care of my battery. I charge it overnight nearly every other day. But taking all that into consideration it gives me oddly 12 hours with normal usage. And 6 hours on a heavy day!
Used to get around 6 hours on heavy usage and 9-10 hours on moderate usage when i was on kitkat !! .
How do you like lollipop so far?
I have upgraded to Lollipop (5.0.2) and generally it is fine. Battery life is about the same, speed is also about the same.
I do have a question for anyone who has upgraded.. have we lost our ability to use the "Ok Google" Call command? It used to work on Kit Kat but now it comes up with my password prompt (pattern lock) before the phone dials out. I use this occasionally when I am driving.
Is this a new security measure in Lollipop or am I missing a setting on the phone?
Thanks in advance.
Mark

Did you dirty flash? If so try factory resetting your device, anyway android n it's still in the beta stage for p9 lite so expect some downside

I have a VNS-L31 device and currently on B336 version. My battery life is super awesome now. Even though standby drops some percentage. When I use it, basically I can get 6 hours of screen on time with mobile data (4G). So no problem so far.

I've read around the internet that the cause could be the geo-localization when there is no WiFi nor mobile data.
I have your same problem during the night time. This night I'm going to try to deactivate also the localization together with WiFi and mobile data to see what happens.
I will update you.
Anyway this is a beta so I think also that it is normal to have this kind of problem. I'm sure that this will be fixed in future versions.

What ia strange is that there is no battery drain when mobile data is on...
At least in my case...
hey Guys, I can confirm I am experiencing the same battery drain as well - Android OS is taking from 10-20% of battery usage and is always on the top. I'm in official BETA project with build 336 and despite factory reset and few other 'tricks' I still have this drain. Not sure if I receive any beta update, I will have to probably wait for stable release If anyone resolves the issue, please post it here
Awesome!!!
Android N vs RR
Hi all! This is my first post on this forum ?
So i just wanted to ask your experiences about battery life on these two ROMS: stock android n (vns-l31c432b336 and latest RR build.
If your tried both of these which one you recommend for better battery life? Im not so much into all of these RRs customization options and im gonna install ROM with best battery life. 4g always on, surfing and whatsuppin usually.
I am not sure about RR, but on B336 the worst result was around 5h SOT on LTE/WiFi (mixed) plus Spotify and YT a lot
Hi. I've been having problems with the battery life, especially about standby time. Battery has been draining at an alarming rate on standby. Any help?
Bumpin, got the same issue after updating to Nougat

I have been searching for Android OS battery drain in standby since January but still havent found any.
I dont know why most you guys have a problem with the battery... I had high battery drain but somehow I solved the problem. The only thing I did was disabling the 4G option and my battery life is awesome on N. At least for now...
Now I have 0-2% battery drain overnight.

I have one question for you, can you compare N and MM (according to you experience) of battery drain with 4G ON and OFF. Do you have more battery drain on N or MM with 4G ON?

It drains for me even on 2g. Android OS is keeping my system awake all the time -__-
For me the consumpiotn of Android OS is about 20% for me, is it normal?
Hi all. Yesterday I just bought this phone. But sadly my battery drains so fast!
Please take a look of this: https://m.imgur.com/pHg8uKs
Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem?
Install a battery monitoring app and check if you have any unwanted wakelocks. Do a clean flash of OOS. Monitor your battery usage without installing any apps. If it's still bad, you either have a bad battery, or your seller had the battery replaced with a cheap battery.

My battery information looks like this from AccuBattery: https://m.imgur.com/n0jigWb
Is it normal?
I updated it to nougat after recently I bought this phone. Should install clean flash this OS? And if I installed TWRP and rooted this phone, would I be able to update automatically to Oreo if it's available for this phone?

It has the normal health degradation of an Li-Po battery, along with the same capacity for the 3T as shown. Recommend you do a clean flash of OOS 4.1.X and check your battery life
Also, you may want to check your battery life on the newest Open Beta, I read about better battery life on it.
You may root your phone and install Betterbatterystats to get much more info about your drain.
Unleashed by ONEPLUS 3T rooted
I've installed FreedomOS and I'm satisfied with it. now my battery lasts longer!
I've read some posts where the people complain about some problems with the battery after software update. My phone battery life is excelent i get 1 day and a half for normal usage so i am worried to start updating .Anyone know smth about that?
battery issue after update Rh5
im getting battery issues after this upadate(patch agust 1)
No issues with August before nor September patch now
I think they have stopped the update. I received the security update but not the camera update yet.
