How do I manage the files on the internal storage? I'm wondering if with all my flashing of roms and screwing around if I'm using up room with a bunch of backups.
Also, how much room is supposed to be there, 512 MB?
I personally use Astro, another good choice is Root Explorer if you need to view system files on the phone itself and not just the sdcard.
EDIT:Just read your post again and you specifically said Internal, so i would say Root Explorer is a good choice.

Do u know any app so I can move apps to my sd not just games?
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
Hello,
I am a new owner of a S3 mini. I tried many differents tweaks to move my apps to sd card (including Link2SD) but none worked.
So I am now stuck with only 4Gb of Storage, my device is already full (some updates cannot be done).
So I was wondering how you guys deal with this storage limitation ?
Thanks
I have only 1 GB in use (100 apps)

Same here. 3.5gb free. All I've done is to use foldermount to mount my navigon maps to external sd.
No games installed. I use my PS3 for that

Thanks a lot, I'll check foldermount.
482 mb free
I have 482mb free on my internal storage , and I use ex. card but it's obly 2gb so I'm planing to buy bigger one
Finally I tested Foldermount : this is the only app I could use with success to move apps to the SD card ...
So thanks a lot for this information !
But I have one question : I could not find any tutorial about Foldermount, the only way I know how to move apps is to select the app folder and the destination app. This is not very friendly ... The S3 mini is for my girlfriend, I need something as simple as possible (she's not a geek ...).
On Foldermount there is a menu which displays all your apps, but when I select one, the buttons (source or destination) remain grey (unusable) and there is an error message saying something like this app may already be linked to sdcard ...
Is there a tutorial about foldermount ?
Is there a way to use it without the need of selecting each app folder to move ?
Is there a way to just select the app and ask to move it to sd card ?
Thanks

Foldermount doesnt move apps to external sd, but link folders from internal sd to external sd.
I still find it very usefull to link download folder and other things like GPS maps. You can also link those game obb files that get stored in your sd (Android/obb) and free up alot of space if you play games.
You can read the original thread here.

To my point of view, it does move the app to external SD as it moves files to external SD and then create a link in the internal memory to external SD.
If it wouldn't move data to external SD card, this application would have no interest.
The only problem for me with this app is that to use it, you need to know in which folder of your internal memory the app has been installed. It's not very easy for everyone. It would be better if when Foldermount shows the list of your apps, you could just select it and then move it to SD.
This feature seems to be existing but does not work for now. Maybe in a later release ...
Anyway, this is the only "move to SD" app I tried which is working fine with the S3 mini.

Thanks but I already tried this, it does not work : the S3 mini does answer correctly to the ADB commands, it says it's now configured for external storage (2) but when I install an app it still does it on the internal storage ...
Really, I tried many different methods, only Foldermount worked.
DirectoryBind with only one link: /sdcard/Android to /storage/extSdCard/Android
Device should be rooted.
Also, in DirectoryBind preferences you need to enable Bind on boot and Alternate dbase mgmt.
That's all you need. All apps data will be stored on external sdcard including cache of games.

The same can be done with foldermount, and it's still maintained with updates which dirictorybind isn't.

For what you need an updates of DirectoryBind? It does not need any update because it smooth and fully working. Atleast, on 4.1.2.
For 4.2.2 we need to switch to FolderMount or manually add mount to init.d
With FolderMount you cannot mount sdcard/Android, you need to mount each cache folder separately.
Maybe it is fixed already in latest version, dunno. If yes, then I will switch to FolderMount too =)
With "destination folder check" unticked in settings it works fine. Maybe it's a pro feature.

Finally I tried to link sdcard0 to sdcard1 : it seems to work if I look at Foldermount status, but in reality it does not copy anything to the SD card ... This is strange ... Plus after having linked sdcard0 to sdcard1, I cannot remove this link : it says a copy is running and I cannot stop it. In reality nothing is copying, so I need to uninstall Foldermount to remove the link ...
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased my LG G4 after finding that root had finally been unveiled! I transferred over my microSD from my Galaxy S4, which was running a v4.4 ROM.
Now, Titanium backup can read the card and restore backups, but it states the external_SD cannot be written to! Specifically, "This folder is not writable." This is using the Filesystem storage provider. I can change the "filesystem" over to Documentprovider, which then makes the SD directory writable, but there is NO protect function available on specific backups. Of course, I believe this to be a Lollipop issue.
There should be a way to have both, right? I've tried changing permissions on directories but have not gotten Titanium to recognize the folder, through the standard filesystem, to be writable.
I'm having the same issue that you are. I haven't had time to try these suggestions yet but go to the link below, on the second page they start talking about a script that someone made that will run every time your phone boots that gives proper permissions. Another person said that they had luck with Xposed Module. Unfortunately I won't have time to try any fixes until the weekend:

I used the SDFIX application by Nextapp and it seems to have worked.
Here's how I granted Titanium Backup permissions to access my sd card.
1) click on menu button
2) click on Preferences...
3) click on Backup folder location
4) click on "Storage provider: External Storage (click to change)"
5) click on DocumentProvider storage
At this point, you may have a menu saying Open from. If so, click on SD card. If you don't see anything, hide the Open from menu (swipe left), click on the menu button at the top right and click on show SD card. At this point, click on SD card and navigate to the folder you want to grant Titanium Backup permission to write to. The select button is at the bottom of the screen. Hope this helps.

You are correct! Thanks!
I looked at that app, but was wary because it mentioned KitKat but not Lollipop by name.
Anyway, I ran the app, gave it root permission, and it did its magic. I rebooted. Success!
Now, in Titanium Backup, it will detect the external_sd card as writable now. However, you HAVE to use the "Filesystem" storage provider in order to get the 'protect' function open. The "filesystem storage - Ext SD card" will work (whereas before it would not write to the directory) but you still don't have "protect" functionality.

This gets it permission to access + write, but I did not see a 'protect' option on my backups when I selected them.

I did this guide some time back to fix the media write permissions when kitkat came out for the first time on CM11 and submitted the fix to cyanogen. This still works with just a line editting. Is you guys like me that prefer to fix the problem editing a file instead of isntalling an app to get it done then this will be the thread to go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524277

Thanks for the link. I haven't run stock ROMS in quite a long time, so having limited SD access was a new phenomenon for me despite having been on KitKat for a few years.
"FolderMount" from the play store also fixes this.
thanks
Hello!
I own the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (with stock Android 5.02) and programs such as uTorrent cannot save on the external SD card. Do I have to give extra write permissions to the apps? The apps can read only I think.
The tab is not rooted so far.
Did you try Stickmount ??
Look for sd card fix on play. You need to be rooted.
SD Fix KitKat writable USB worked for me.

Apps like Root Explorer and others that support Lollipops write access will prompt you to select the drive it will have permission to. If the app doesn't then, its outdated and wont access it. It has to do with the write permission that Google removed.

It's dysfunctional in lollipop. Only really works in MM.
WRITE permissions can be obtained globally as said by applying the sd fix.

As the op states, he is not rooted. So only apps that can ask for permission to use the SD card will.

He stated 'Yet' and it becomes obvious that root is required when downloading the Sd card fix and I already stated it requires root in my previous post.
If he wants global freedom to write to the sd card then that's the road to take.

Well that is a no brainer. Having root allows for all things to work but sacrifice security. I personally do not root anymore. My main apps, Root Explorer-MX Player-PLay Movies work with the MicroSD after a the permission was given.
Hopefully when MM comes we can have the option to adopt the extra storage and move on from this night mare

Adopted storage brings it's own issues. I for one don't use it as its implementation affects access to the sd card through custom recovery and other platforms.
However write access permissions are now much improved and any app can obtain these permissions if the user allows.
As regards security when rooting, it doesn't have to be a risk. It's up to the user to be aware of what rooting is and how to use it.
Root can still be Selinux aware. It's up to the user to ensure what they do with their device is safe.
I for one feel my device is more secure with root as *I* have control over my device not what the manufacturer decides.
I will take measures to protect myself if required.
Even some of the apps I use to protect myself need root.
The benefit of root to me personally far outweighs any perceived security issue.
^^^ agree 100%
