I haven't rooted a device in years.. I'm not too familiar with the lingo about these things either. I know my phone is a galaxy s5 with 4.4.4 its at g900a and the last digits of the baseband version is OA2. I have unlimited data and wish to be able to root to unlock wifi features. My phone has an update available and I understand that if I let it take the update, i may not be able to get into it later.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated
update.....................just now, my phone said it was going to start the firmware download in 30 seconds....i quickly took to battery out !1
HELP!!
nevermind...had to use the phone..as soon as i put the battery back in and turned on, it updated...now at 5.1.1
How I feel in these types of situations...

Photos not posting...it is Upgrade3.26.502.56. Will I lose root or com recovery?

Your picture isn't showing up. Upload the small version. Also is it an att update? They just send it to phones in mass.
I wouldn't do it. All the updates are repackaged by the devs.
You can download but don't update. You would need to go to stock gingerbread and also you have to relock bootloader. If you want to keep root you can reroot after you update. There is a guide in development under stickies that tells you the process.

My upgrade is right around the corner. What would u suggest for a phone if u was on sprint and ur favorite ROMs was cm/aokp/slim? Now with a gs3, I was hooked on wicked and my wife still is.
If u wondering why I have the epic, it is because my other phone broke and don't wanna pay to replace when up grade is like this Friday.
For people with epic, all 4.2.2 ROMs r sweet. I haven't had the Bluetooth issue but do with wired mic. Was thinking if 4.3 gets stable like 4.2.2, I may hold off on upgrading.

Hi I've tried towel root, mod strings and the old active root method. None appear to work. I did previously root my active on 4.4.2 but can't for the life of me remember how?
Pointers would be welcome, Samsung appear to be the only device manufacturer still blocking device customisation.
Cheers in advance.

I've remembered that I used the cf-auto-root method by chainfire. I'll report back if it works with my current setup.

It worked! Officially most pointless thread. Sorry xda ?
Hey everyone.
I've owned my Z3C for about 3 months now and it's been an awesome experience (10 times better than my S4 Mini). I've also played around with flashtool and flashed different unbranded softwares to decide which Lollipop version runs the best on my phone.
However there have been a few times where I've flashed firmware only for the battery stats to break (as you can see in the picture).
Does anyone have a solution to fix this?
Recently I wanted to start fresh so I just factory reset my phone and this happened. And it's not the first time a factory reset caused this either.
The only known fix I know right now is to flash KitKat or the 620 version of Lollipop and to manually update it which prevents the stats from breaking. But that is really tedious [emoji14]
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

So yea, like the titles says. Where can I find the most up to date rooting info for the SM-G900A, and is there any 5.1.1 or Marshmallow Roms that are still being supported out there?
Thank you
There is no root if the phone came with or has taken the lollipop ota. The only working root is from kit Kat. This phone is almost 2 years old and I believe most devs have moved on to a better phone.
I am looking for the same. I got my phone from US AT&T and i try to root it but nothing works. Tried all methods in here. Nothing works. Tried Odin and all the applications like kingo, towel etc.,
Really looking for a help

There is a new root method for the S5 in the Verizon threads for 5.0. Not 5.1.1 so that might be a different beast but still. hope?
