I want to buy Optimus 4x.
But I want to disable completely the shutter sound when taking photos. I found a thread here that can make it happen.
I just want to ask if it is necessary to root it first, Can I disable the camera shutter sound without rooting it?
And if it is necessary to root it, is it quite easy? Cause it took me 2 days+ to root my Sensation XE.
Thank you very much!
The Optimus 4X in some parts of Europe have a firmware version v10f that allows you to turn it off without root.
Rooting the 4X is quite easy though. Takes at most 15 minutes
Made possible by my sexy LG Optimus 4X HD (P880)

I just saw one in a shop, that was free to use it for a while.
But no shutter off button,(Greece, EU) it had 4 different sounds to chose from.
Can I do the camera shutter trick that is discussed on the Android developement section without rooting?
Or is it only possible by rooting first, then doing that trick?
Can someone confirm that?
It will be a total waist of time and money if this isn't possible...

Basicaly, you'll change the camera.apk for another one soo, I think you'll need root.
Yeah,
But root explorer works on any phone, rooted or not.
I can use RootExplorer without restrictions on my unrooted Xperia S, and I can rename *.apk files normally.
So why do I have to root it?
I am very confused...

Can you also rename those in /system/apk? Because for that you normally need root.
There is an option to turn off shutter sound in my 4x
-Tone 1 - Tone 2 - Tone 3 - Tone 4 - Off -
These are the options found on my camera settings, Under v10e, non-rooted 4x...

That exists in all versions... the difference is that in the modded app the Tone 4 is "silence"
So if I update it officially without root, I can choose "off" in the shutter/af sound option?

If you don't mind downgrading a little to v10e (Asian version) you'll be able to mute camera while also still got voice-activated shutter.

I don't think soo... to be honest, as my phone restarts from the root, first thing I do is freeze/uninstall apps and change settings soo, when I go to the camera the one that I have is already the modded...
You can try, nothing to loose
What do I need to install the modded camera app?
Do I need to root and use RootExplorer, or do I need ALSO deodexed ROM etc?!

OK, phone need to be rooted.
My way:
Install "Root.Uninstaller.PRO.3.01" and "AntTek.Explorer.PRO.3.1.4", open Uninstaller Pro and select the camera, in options select "data directory", Antek will open in "com.lge.camera. Go one the up directory "data" and delete that folder (com.lge.camera). Hit the "back" button untill you close AntTek Explorer. RU will appear again, now choose "app directory", AntTek will open in "app" with the file "com.lge.camera-1.apk", delete it. Go back again untill AntTek closes and you'll still have RU open... choose uninstall.
Reboot the phone after uninstall, after that you can install the modded version and reboot again.
Looks complicated in words but you'll see that its not
The icon and all the rest will be like the stock camera, only the Tone 4 changes.
You can download 3rd party app like camera JB+ that has the option to disable the shutter sound.

I think your only solution for that is to turn it off... Or to find out what to change to make it lower. You do not have an option in settings for that.

Hi,
Thanks again. I found the option to completely turn it off yesterday. Sad, there was no feature to reduce its intensity.
After turning it off, I realized the samsung JB always had a subtle vibration feedback when touching all this. Initially found it a bit weird getting no vibration but now used to it.
Another thing, in samsung JB I could sync FB contacts as well. In this ROM neither does the option in 'contacts' nor in FB app allow to sync contacts to phone book. Not a major issue though.
But, in samsung JB I could sync my calendar with FB, so that I could see all b'days etc on my calendar. No option here. Even though FB is displayed under 'accounts' in setting. There is no option to sync.
But the great thing about it is its speed. There is no lag whatsoever, very smooth so far.
Have a couple of free days in hand, so thinking of trying out CM 10.2 as well

Maybe some app can help you with FB sync.
Hi,
You may be aware of the problem with the dash clock. It force closes. And it appears partially cut in the lock screen.
After going through the OMNI rom, I found that you had mentioned in post no. #225 to go to system/app and delete dashclock.apk from there.
Since there is no file manager in this ROM. I installed ES file manager and tried to delete dashclock.apk from system/app
But when I try to delete it says "dashclock.apk can not be deleted". I don't know why ?
Is it anything to do with rooting ? I found some discussion in the forum about rooting as well. But couldn't make much of it.

Root it, set usb debugging on, in ES file explorer set Root explorer ON. Or use some other root explorer if that do not work.

I read in the OMNI forum that installing OMNI Rom automatically roots the phone. So is that not true ? If that is the case I will google and find how to root the phone.
I tried to turn on 'root explorer' in the ES file manager. It says 'Sorry, test failed. This feature can not run on your device". Is it an indicator of the the fact that the phone is not rooted ?
Edit: Temporary workaround: I found the post wherein you had told a user how to expand the dash clock widget by sliding it down and holding it and removing it by taking it to the 'x'. I removed it from the lock screen and added the normal clock in its place.

@metalhead.mechie Well I don't know what that means. I dont know much about tech stuff
From what I have gathered from the discussion in the OMNI Rom Forum, that I download something called 'Super SU" from http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip .
Question:
1. Do i need to extract the contents of the zip ? Or just go to TWRP and just select install from SD card and select the zip folder like i did with OMNI and gapps ?
2. Will this root the phone or do I need to follow other procedure as well ?

Just install zip in TWRP. And check if usb debugging is on later in Developer options.

Hi
I posted the thread here as i think it's the most appropriate, pardon if im wrong.
The toast message "Omniswitch restricted mode, failed to gain system permissions" is shown in the notification list.
How do I give it that? i installed via Magisk, and i also tried flashing the zip from TWRP.
the magisk manager doesn't list it in #superuser where for example substrantum and solid explorer are listed.

Oke kinda stra ge because i have Xperia 1 iii with A13 and have that option when an app restrict an option then i just do that.
I have an A13 OmniSwitch APK which used to work on December security update but now for January it does not. It only shows the overlay if there are no recent apps but does FC when recent apps are available.
is it working on android 11\12\13 ???
If this question is directed at me, you can find working OmniSwitch for 11 and 12 in the appropriate thread. Mine did work on earlier A13 but not lately.

ok , what I 'm trying to make work on a13 but without success , I 've tried all the traditional ways , but it does not work ... I wanted to know how to work on a13 ...
Flash this zip then copy OmniSwitch to /system/priv-app. Be aware it may not work on newer A13 patched ROMs.
Thanks for trying to help, I really appreciate it!!
I had already tried the way you said, but without success!
image 1 - I can install everything correctly, but when I run it, this error appears!! I just need to fix this error!
image 2 - I also tried changing the installation location, and it still didn't change anything!!!
I also tried changing the installation location, and it still didn't change anything!!!
I've scoured the entire internet [google] for a solution to - Restricted mode failed to get system permissions Android 13 app - but there is no mention of it!! there are no speeches except this one!

I think "Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools" is a great option for debloating ->
Note: This project is outdated and no longer maintained.
A simple tool for managing Xiaomi devices on desktop using ADB and Fastboot

You can disable or uninstall unwanted apps for the current user. There is absolutely no reason to hard delete bloatware nowadays.

If the reinstall feature doesn't work, you can factory reset your device and everything will be back to stock. Are you sure that uninstalling of system app causes the problem? May be you changed some settings in the developer options...

I think this happen after debloat.. but yeah doesn't make too much sense an app causing this.. And i don't really want factory reset . So probably i will check developer options maybe im lucky and the problem is there.
edit*
-Problem solved by just disable and enable developer options . Thanks a lot mate
Hey guys
So i wanted to yeet com.mi.android.globalFileexplorer

On my old phone whenever i used attach function on email it used to open that blue icon files app which doesn t have nay skin
Anyway to use that for email attachment or for all purposes
Also this com.mi.android.globalFileexplorer this app can't access android/data and android/obb folder, i even enabled all permisions for it
Please Help
Thank You
Just got fooled by "Screen Change:Root" application, i wanted to change my display ratio and now I can't even put my password.
I have TWRP already installed and when I wipe data, reinstall the OS (HavocOS) the screen display is fixed.
The problem is I want to keep my data (/data/data), but when I restore it I get the same display issue.
Thank you for the help,
With all my love!
Is it a Magisk Module perhaps? Or does it create one as part of accessing the system?
Because then you could easily disable that Magisk Module, even inside TWRP.
Otherwise, one option would be to contact the developer and ask him for help. He would know what exactly his app changes.

I can't find the developer contact and I'm sure the solution is in front of my eyes.
The file which causes the problem is for sure in /data/data folder. I went through TWRP in the folder and deleted everything suspicious but still when I reboot my display is a mess.
Thank you for helping me!
I've checked out screenshots of the app, and it seems like it runs as a background service. Did you enable "Set on boot"?
So I think it maybe doesn't change any files, but does the command @ every boot.
In that case, you could boot into Android Safe Mode, and .. maybe uninstall the app there.
You could delete the app folder of Screen Changer:Root from /data
Then the app wouldn't be able to run at every boot.
I forgot which folder Android stores all User-apps into.
What I think the app is doing, is it simply does a command (as Root) which changes the resolution, while not changing the defaults
So I don't think it actually changes any files.
Seems like user-apps are stored in /data/app and /data/data.
What was your goal anyway though?
If that's true, it should stop giving the command at every boot if I delete the application data. But when I did the display keept changing.
The app is not a module and I didn't enable to run at every boot.
