After some time without using my data connection (for example, connected to WIFI), the data connection is lost and I have to set plane mode and deactivate it to make it work again.
Wifi is working as intended and i also can receive calls, but the 3g icon disappears and I lose my data connection.
Any Ideas? Mentor's JBStock ROM
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm currently using miui 1.10.21 from miui.nl and ilstone's iphone theme,
when my phone is locked i notice there is no internet connection, and when i unlock it then the internet connection icon pops-up and there is a connection, sometimes when locking my phone the internet connection stays connected longer than other times. I want it to be connected to the internet all the time for things as e-mail pushing and messages from whatsapp..
How can i fix this?

By internet connection do you mean "3G/HSDPA/EDGE" or do you mean WIFI?
If Wifi there is an option under wifi connection to set Sleep Policy. Set it to "Never".
Just make sure to toggle it off then when your not using it, if indeed you are referring to wifi. Will cause extra battery drain if it's always searching. If your talking about 2g/3g there are apps that will shut data off when screen is off, perhaps you have one doing that without realizing it.

Hi, when I'm abroad using wifi (so no cellular data), my battery lasts longer compared to being at home, also on Wifi. how can this be possible? shouldnt cellular data be deactivated as soon as i activate wifi?
thanks in advance

Depends on what Wi-Fi network you're connecting to. In theory - 5Ghz network takes more battery than 2.4Ghz or a/b/g network. Also, signal strength also plays it's role - constant low signal forces the antenna to work harder - and at home you always get good signal.
Who knows, maybe that's the reason.
Maybe when you are home the data connection stays in the background waiting for you to drop off wifi network and therefore eats up the battery
but when you are on roaming the data connection is turned off completely to save on data bill
this is just an assumption...
what I usually do is when am at home or work, I turn off data and turn on wifi manually instead of letting the phone choose for me. I've found that this helps in conserving battery
No, thats not how it works.. Your cellular data connection is active, just unused.

I do this too, in fact I use Llama to do it for me. It saves a lot of battery.
Thanks, that's what I thought. But why can't android simply deactivate data when connected. I don't get why there is no such option.

Title sais it all ...
I installed the german ICS soon as it came out, never really had any problems with it (except for not going into deep sleep when it should - but that's a different story alltogether), i've been using the navigation more often lately and i found out i cannot receive or make any calls while in gps mode. i get a black screen and cannot accept the call and after about 5 seconds i get a message that the process "android" has been terminated. and everything restarts and i go back to gps ...
i googled it but found no answer to my problem ... anyone have an idea ?
Have you done a factory reset at all done migrating to ICS I had little issues (not that one exactly) but the majority of the issue were gone after a wipe. Of you do, be sure to use a safe kernel and the latest CWM Recovery.

this usually happens when the 3g data is activated. You can't receive calls while 3g or lower data is active (gprs, edge, 3g). This doesn't happen when hsdpa or higher data is active. try disabling the data connection and Use only GPS for navigation and see if you are able to make/receive calls.

Almost! GSM doesn't allow to send/receive calls while a GPRS/EDGE data transfer is active (network operators could fix that, but it means $$$), anyway, unless you are streaming some content, it's likely a call can be reveived. UMTS networks (3G, HSPA(+)) con have multiple bearers...
I think the problem is with the phone being on landscape (and maybe a non standard dpi). I think I read about this problem before when using tablet mode.
Regards.
This is unfortuantely a known bug when the phone is placed horizontaly in the car dock.
You can either put the phone in vertically in the dock or turn off screen rotation so that it won't be horizontal (but everything will be on it's side).
I really hope samsung fixes this in the next update.
Wi-Fi will not work unless I turn off my mobile data. I didn't have an issue with this prior to the update, is there a fix?
It seems to prefer 3G/4G for the initial connection, but it I turn data off, connect to my router, then turn data back on, everything works fine. The Data ON-OFF widget makes that easy.
You don't have the option checked in WiFi settings that says automatically switch between WiFi and cellular do you?

Hi, I have an S21 Ultra 5G, (SM-G998B)and I have problem about 1 month ago. When I am connected to a wifi network, icons 4g is turn on and mobile data stop work. Only way to turn on mobile data is restart phone. What is the problem? I try everething and hard reset but problem not solved. This happens almost every day once or twice
Not sure I understand....the phone will NOT use mobile data when on Wi-Fi. You can force it by going in developer mode and boost speed by using both, that is not the default though. ("Mobile data always active")
"Mobile data always active" is turn off but 4g icons is active in same time as wifi network. After that I turn off wifi and mobile data not work but 4g icons still turn on.
I found out what the problem. Every time after sharing the mobile network via hotspot, when I go to Sim manager and turn off Sim 2, both icons appear and the mobile internet stops working.
1. Turn on sharing mobile data (from sim 1) via hotspot. (sim1 and sim 2 active)
2. Turn off sharing data via hotspot
3. Connect to any wifi (after connect to wifi, only wifi icons appear)
4. Go to sim manager and turn off sim2.
5. After that, both icons (wifi and mobile data) appear and mobile internet stops working.
Does this happen to others?
