XT1060 (Verizon) Moto X in Australia - Moto X Q&A

Hi Guys,
I'm located in Australia and my dad bought a MotoX on eBay. It ended up being a Verizon badged phone.
When we first got it, it was working on 2G/3G fine. I know that the LTE bands won't work in AUS.
The phone played up a little, was lagging and poor battery life. The usual thing.. factory reset!
Well it boot looped.. I managed to get it going again but it didn't find a SIM.
Long story short, i have RSD flashed factory ROMS (Several regions) and now custom ROMS with radios/modems that in theory should work in AUS.
No luck. It runs fine, just no SIM detected.
What can i do to get this phone working again. If anything!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've attached the current System Info and the sticker that's on the back.
BTW.. I have owned Motorola's forever and this device feels (Poor build) counterfeit. Has anyone heard of a counterfeit MotoX?
I have a AUS retail MotoX myself and it is built far better.

You have an XT1060 (see http://www.phonemore.com/phone/motorola-moto-x-xt1060/1120 for the bands) My understanding is that you should ONLY flash XT1060 specific factory ROMS; to start with, and then CM etc.
Get the XT1060 ROM. It will match your hardware. Don't downgrade, only upgrade if anything.

Thanks, I'll give it another shot. But I've tried the XT1060 stock ROMs with no luck so far.
The theory is that after i flash the stock XT1060 ROM i just make sure roaming is on and force set to 2G/3G in cell settings.

As suspected, the device still won't detect the SIM card at all.
All cellular network settings are greyed out except roaming options. I have put roaming on, still nothing.

[Q] T-Mobile APN Settings for people porting over?

Hello. I recently, and after much trouble, had the Sprint technical support "unlock" my phone for international travel. I wasn't planning on traveling soon and decided to switch my unlocked phone to T-mobile, but they are unable to do it sending me back and forward through both companies...
Finally I talked to HTC support, and was pretty much told to get a new rom and "third party" software unlock.
I know how to unlock bootloader, and flash roms (change mobile settings to GSM and all that) , and am about to try a software unlock from local threads here at xda, but I can't seem to find APN settings for T-mobile.
I'd appreciate any help

Anyways here's the apn for tmobile http://apn-settings.com/t-mobile-apn-settings-step-by-step-configuration/ if it doesn't work a Google search for tmobile apn will give u many results

Lol they told u to root the device and install a new Rom and use our method of unlocking it? That's bizarre, did they tell u the process will void your warranty?
Anyways here's the tmobile apn http://apn-settings.com/t-mobile-apn-settings-step-by-step-configuration/ if that doesn't work then u can Google search tmobile apn and it will return a lot of results

Thank you for your help. Yes, it was odd that HTC implied that I used a third party solution, and this was after so much back and forth communication with Sprint and Tmobile tech help.
I was finally able to sim unlock, and use those APN settings succesfully (it wasn't easy), however, I'm not sure those APN settings give me LTE since only epc.tmobile.com seems to work, and it gives me a 3G symbols, as well as an H symbols, which I assume is HSPA?
I'm still not sure about this, so I will try different APN settings, and see what sticks (BTW I'm in Florida, trying to use this device on TMobile).

You won't get LTE if you're using a Sprint One on T-Mo

[Q] Motorola MOTO X Developer Edition

i want to know if this Motorola X developer will work with att?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-MO...1144549540?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2ed52640a4
I hope someone can help me out here.
Yes, but don't count on getting an LTE data connection. Voice and HSPA should work fine.

The GSM Dev Edition and GSM Unlocked (shps with T-Mobile or Net10 sim) are both the XT1053, and will work on ATT just fine.
Keep in mind the XT1053 is missing support for LTE Band 5, which ATT is now using in some areas. So if that is the only band ATT is using for LTE in your area you wont get LTE with the XT1053, but you will fall back to Hspa/Hspa+
The XT1053 is also missing support for LTE band 7 which supposedly isn't being used in the USA.
That being said, my sister-in-law is using a GSM Unlocked (XT1053) in south eastern PA on ATT just fine for everything, including LTE.

While your info is relevant, the phone linked in the OP is the VZW Dev editon. @blackviper71 's post was correct regarding that device. Moot-point though, because the device is already sold.

Yeah, I guess I didn't look close enough at the picture in the auction.

Cannot Connect to LTE. Throttling?

Hi,
Since last Friday I haven't been connecting to LTE. I'm running multirom with the latest BBOYZ Sense ROM and then on secondary a minimal GPE ROM without root that I just use when I want Android Pay. Neither has connected to LTE since Friday. I'll see LTE show up for a second but it won't spin like it's doing anything and eventually will switch back to 3G. I have unlimited data and have never had a problem in the past. This monthly cycle I've used 0.6553GB of 3G data, 1.5186MB Data Roaming, and 13.4001GB LTE. My wife's iPhone 5s still connects to LTE just fine. We have a tower near our home and get a great signal. My wife has used about .25GB. Billing cycle says tomorrow so that might mean it resets tomorrow or tomorrow is the last day, not sure. Anyone have any thoughts? Am I being throttled? Or maybe I just need to give it a full wipe and flash a RUU?
Thanks!
I decided to try a full RUU. Still only getting 3G. I did some reading and saw Sprint (about 2 weeks ago) said they're going to limit high volume users when they get over 23GB but that they'd be notified. I haven't been notified or used that much data. I guess I'll see what tomorrow brings. If I get into Wednesday with no LTE I'll head over to my Sprint store..

Have you tried either ##72786# or ##3282# while using a Sense ROM?

I went into both those menus but wasn't sure what to do. Was about to ask but I disconnected from wifi and now have LTE. Don't see how that helped but maybe it did! Thanks regardless!

Won't switch back to 4g lte vzw

Hi, so I am running nx rom 9.8.1 on my xt1060 de. I am having a problem where the phone goes to 3g and won't come back to 4g without toggling airplane mode or restarting.
I have pushed fsb.bin and non-hlos from the Verizon stock file. I have deleted modem st1 and 2, and have replaced the apn with one I found for Verizon specific.
Still, I get stuck on 3g.
Any ideas

Does the same thing happen on stock?
No, on stock it holds 4g well. I had a host of other problems on stock, but it held signal

In the early lollipop builds for my porevious device (RAZR M), I use to modify/add the build props as below to improve my switching over to 4G. I don't think it will work you, but hey, give it a try, after a backup...
Code:
telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9
ro.ril.def.preferred.network=9
Basically, its setting the default network to LTE, the preferred network to LTE and setting the GSM device to allow LTE. You may be lucky and it might work.
UPDATE: I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad. I reset the entire phone, clean wipe and put the factory image back on vs NXROM. Same issue. Did some digging and found some suggesting that a SIM swap helps. Had a spare and popped it in. Things are back to LTE for the time being.

Which model & carrier (SIM Card) are you using & what is the latest update revision (build number)?
Perhaps update the OP w/that info & others who may have your phone model & carrier will see this & have a solution.......
Only other thing I can suggest is remove/re-install the SIM Card, see what happens......

Glad to hear everything is working, less the network/signal strength indicator.
Yeah more a aesthetic thing. The first thing I checked was the apn. Then the sim the reset network settings then factory data reset with no luck. I think my next move is to let Samsung know. The few moments I used my phone before update the signal bars did work.

I noticed the usa unlocked ones show less bars but still the true db via Network signal information app. I think the branded ones have software to make customer feel good about the "bars". Lol
