As I know the total internal space on Nexus is 512Mb. Why I am always getting 196MB AVAILABLE SPACE (with or without APP2SD)? Where I lose 316Mb internal memories?
Well, if you wanted to delete android off your phone, you could have all of that space, but you wouldn't have much of a phone would you?
Android itself has to be stored somewhere, and it's not going to be on the sdcard.
As n1 users the internal memory is one thing that has always plagued us. ~200mb is not much.

ok thanks for the answer but why on my Magic I am getting 188MG availble space exactly as its internal memory? where is the android on my Magic? Why I can increase that 188Mb by using A2SD?
On my Nexus is always 196MB availble space...
They may have advertised the Magic as having XXXMB space to install apps, where the N1 was advertised as having 512MB of internal space. That internal space is divied up between your system (where android is installed), cache (where all temporary files are downloaded - like the apks for market apps before they get installed), and data (where all your apps are installed to and all your settings saved).
And you can't "increase" the space of the magic by using a2sd. What you can do is fake the phone into thinking that your sdext partition is internal memory, so that apps can be installed to it and thus frees up your actual internal storage for the data for those apps. The two most popular ways to do this are DarkTremor's a2sd and S2E. Both require partitioning your sdcard and both require you to have root access on your phone (S2E is advertised as CM7 only, although it may work on CM7-based ROMs).
If you use the built-in app2sd that comes with any Android version 2.2 and up will not utilize the sdext partition on the card. It will just store files on the sdcard in a protected folder. This isn't as thorough as the above methods, as you can't store any apps on the sdcard that contain widgets or tie into the system (like facebook).
Hi.
Im running miui rom in my optimus 2x.
I have 3 options to storge.
Phone storage about 1 gb
Sd card storge about 5 gb
And external sd card about 16 gb
The problem is that basically i cant use the external sd card for apps and games,
i try all the move to sd card apps on market and all of tham only move from my phone storage to my sd card, so basically i only have 6gb in my phone.
Is there anyway to move tham to my external??
Tnx.
hmmmmm...
on cm you have an option to do so (settings/cyanogenmod/applications/use external sd for media)
but i don't know if miui has it too. Try looking for something like that
I looked everywhere, there isnt an option like this.
If you don't mind me asking, are you really out of storage to install apps?
Because o2x has an app storage space of 1.5gb excluding the internal 5gb flash memory, and most heavy games will store their game data on the 5gb internal flash mem, and only the basic apk will resides on the app space.
Running out of storage space is really hard achieve since even the heaviest game only consumes like 100mb? Which is mostly stored in the 5gb space. Unless you have hundreds of high end games installed, then you can run out of space .
All the new games need to download between 400-900 mb each, so yeah i runnig out of storge
Alright then, my mistake.
Anyway, I read that to swap sdcard as _externalSD vice versa is via CM7, I am not really sure how because I'm not using it, but I definately read about it before and it is doable. Hopefully someone can help you on the how..
Cheers!
there is a script for miui to swap so your microsd to become /sdcard check the android development

- internal storage; 1,5 gb / 1,25gb
- Extra storage: 5,5 gb / 5,5 gb ( .mnt/emmc )
how can i unsplit my internal sd card to just make it look like this: internal storage; 7gb - 6,75gb
I see also i can delete / ungear my ( /mnt/emmc ) but i think i wil loose it if i will do that.
i hope you can help me! thanks!:good:
it might be possible by using a partition layout similar to what phones that come with JB use, but I don't think its a good idea.
you would have to re-partition your internal storage which would wipe your user data, files on internal storage, and installed rom.
but there's a good chance any rom you install will have no idea how to handle that partition layout because they are built for the stock layout, and if it does work the gain in storage space is negligible.
so in short: more work than its worth.
it would be possible with some NVflash hacking, but the point is those 1.5 GB are the /data/ partition, where all your apps are installed, and the rest is the internal SD card where you can store music, pictures etc on.
It neither makes sense to allocate it all to internal storage (since you wouldnt have any space for apps) nor to allocate it all for apps, because you will never fill 7GB just with apps, sicne all the big data chunks are moved to the external SD card (or the internal SD card partition) anyway.
So unless you are running into some serious space problems, I suggest you keep everything as is
Hi, i have a problem with installing apps, my internal storage is only 2gb and it runs out od memory, every time i need install big application i need to move all apps in internal mmc manually. So do you have any EASY solution to make my internal mmc my default storage for application?? Pls pls thanks!
Hello I am wondering is it possible to use cm11 on my galaxy ace and at the same time to use my sd card second partition as phone internal storage for apps but I do mean like litteraly as internal storage and not using apps like app2sd end etc..
I mean like Ultimatum mod
I am using Ultimatum mod on my ace right now but it only offers cm7 if I am not mistaking..
I would like to use cm11 or cm10 or any better more stable cm and this kind of kernel which allowes me to use sd 2nd partition as phone internal storage is that possible?
So what I basicly want is android kit kat or even better lolilop combined with option to use sd card partition as phone internal memory
Or if you know any rom which is EXTRA stable and lag free which can supply me with my need to have 2nd sd card partition as my phone internal storage so I can have ton of apps
