stock xt1045 lollipop bricked with the google update - Moto G 2014 LTE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

stockUS retail xt1045 lollipop bricked with the google 10mb update. I'm all stock, I just turned on my phone which I had used in months, and there was a google update, so I applied it and it rebooted and now its stays at the powered by android screen.
I'm able to get into the stock recovery, I did a factory/data reset several times, but I stay stuck at the powered by android screen.
Can I download the untouched zip firmware and flash it from stock recovery? or is there an easier way to unbrick?
thanks

Unless you have twrp and a backup the only way is to flash fullstock, look here if you can find your fw http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=created&order=DESC
Should be quick since you don't even need to unlock the bootloader for flashing fws for the same region

[Q] Republic Wireless stuck without firmware, unlocked bl

I have a moto x 2013 with an unlocked bootloader. I was on 4.4.2 and I decided to take the OTA. After flashing stock 4.4.2 and updating I flashed TWRP and my custom boot animation. It would no longer turn wifi on which I had solved in the past by reflashing stock. I stupidly tried to do this, and realize now that I have the 4.4.4 bootloader with 4.4.2 images. Is there anything I can do? Is there any way to flash 4.4.4?
Edit: I flashed TWRP and copied the ota to the sd card from a otg drive. I then flashed back the stock 4.4.2 recovery and used it to install the ota zip. I do not recommend others try this as I have no idea how safe it is. Avoid getting in this situation to begin with.
Now I need to know if I can try flashing TWRP again and what I did wrong with that last time? Or was it the boot logo/animation?

You're fine to flash TWRP. The issues was you re-flashed it before taking the update last time. To update to 4.4.4 you have to do a stock restore to 4.4.2 first then install the update.

I am almost certain that I flashed it after taking the update. The update won't flash with anything other than the stock recovery. It was probably user error of some sort when flashing.

Am I SOL?

So my phone has decided to soft-brick itself after upgrading to Lollipop. It never even made it a single normal bootup after the upgrade. I get to the Optimizing Apps screen and then it shuts itself down after that finishes. I can't get into the OS, but I can boot into Recovery Mode. I've tried to wipe the cache partition to no luck. I haven't tried to Wipe Data/Factory Reset because I want to try and recover my data.
I haven't rooted the device or put on a custom recovery. Is there any way to get in there and grab the files off? I can see the device listed under 'fastboot devices' using ADB but don't know where to go from here. I tried to flash a custom recovery but it doesn't work because the bootloader is locked?
Am I basically screwed and my only option to just factory reset and lose my data?
I found a rooted ROM on rootjunkysdl (sorry I'm new and can't link) Can I use RSDLite to flash that on the device and go from there?

The rooted rom that you see there is a kitkat rom. Since your bootloader is now expecting lollipop, flashing that would be a very bad idea. In fact, since you've taken the lollipop update, the odds of you ever being able to root your device are unfortunately near 0. But to answer your question, full firmware files for the 5.1 Turbo firmware have not yet been released by Verizon. That's what you would need to flash with RSDlite. So your options are to wait for those or to factory reset.

Would something like this work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/turbo-unbrick-t3139811
If it's just for a hardbrick could I flash the wrong firmware then use this tool to get it working again?

At a glance, it seems like that should work. I'm not too familiar with that method. Also, you're in luck. It seems that Verizon dropped the official image today. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...-5-1-image-t3152229/post61744745#post61744745

OTA fails - stock kernel/relock required?

I got an OTA update notification several months ago and wanted to update but realized it won't work as long as I have TWRP Recovery.
Now I decided to install the update. Therefore I flashed a stock recovery (M8_MINI_UL_Stock_Recovery_2.19.401.2.img).
When trying to update, the phone goes to the stock recovery and the update proceeds but after about one quarter of the progress bar, it stops and shows the red exclamation mark (!).
I have stock rom, stock recovery, unlocked bootloader, dt2w kernel.
Do I need to reflash the stock kernel and if so, where can I get it and how can I do it (fastboot flash boot.img?)?
Is it also really required to relock the bootloader in order to succeed in updating and if so, how can I do it?
Regards
So far I've tried flashing original kernel, original recovery and relocking but the update still fails.
I also took the firmware.zip included in the OTA and flashed it via h-boot. Seemed to update bootloader, recovery and radio.
Then I rebooted, again got the update notification and tried to install it.
But still the same error. Any ideas?

Watch boots straight to recovery. Bricked?

Hi all,
I just received my new ZenWatch 3 today. I turned it on, set it up, and unlocked the bootloader.
From there, I flashed the MWG68 stock images so I could update to the latest AW 1.5 version (I had no intention of upgrading to AW 2.0). I also flashed TWRP so I could later edit the build.prop and disable OTA updates.
However, the watch no longer boots. Instead, it boots directly to recovery. I have tried wiping, flashing the stock images, flashing the 2.0 OTA, flashing the custom ROM, but nothing seems to work. I have full TWRP and fastboot access, but I can't get the watch to boot. Should I also attempt to flash the second half of the MWF76 stock images?
I'm at a loss here. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

1: Whenever you unlock the bootloader you have to re-lock
it before flashing any roms.
2: You MUST do a full wipe and factory reset in TWRP before
flashing any roms. (especially for watches)
I flashed the same rom and twrp as you have 3 days ago
and I had no issues with flashing it It's an excellent rom.
Also you do not need to edit the build-prop file to disable
OTA updates and notifications.
Since the rom is pre-rooted it will not allow OTA updates
and will not notify you about any. (just like cell phones)
Good luck,
Have a great day!

Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, even after locking the bootloader, doing a full wipe, and then flashing the ROM it still boots straight into TWRP after reboot. Should I try flashing the stock images with the stock recovery?
Ah, good news! I got it to boot. Apparently the stock recovery is needed as well. Only flashing the system.img and boot.img without the stock recovery.img causes it to bootloop. Thanks again for taking the time to respond to me.

Okay so i rooted, now i want to reverse but...??

Hey all,
after a long time i've came back on xda and i rooted my android phone (rog phone 3). easy steps all done right.
then apps started to suddenly crash, i've flashed RAW 17.0823.2102.143 everything is still ok (unrooted state)
but when i press check for system updates nothing appears so i guess no OTA updates anymore ?
is there a way to completly revert to stock with ota ?
so i figured out there's a new firmware Version WW-17.0823.2104.147 on the website of asus and when i download it, its in a zip format. Already tried to put the firmware zip onto the root on my phone storage and nothing pops up (according to what i could find from asus was to put zip onto the root folder and restart would update to the firmware but nothing happened)
all goes fine with the newest firmware with TWRP (tried this method but had to relock bootloader)
but i want everything back to stock with ota if that is possible please someone help me out with this
*Edit: firmware zip did work eventually after several restarts, but still not sure about the ota
