Hey guys,
is there an option to have iOS like flash notifications on android? Still using the HTC One M7.ug
Tested apps like Flash Blink and LightFlow pro, in both apps the flash works in test modes of the apps, but doesnt work when a notification comes
in (whatsapp etc)
Everything is set fine I guess.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I use Tasker to do this for example:
Profile 1: Screen off + SMS received ---> Launch Task #1
Task 1:
Turn flashlight on
wait 50 ms
turn flashlight off
wait 5 s
go to action 1
Profile 2: Screen is turned on ---> Launch Task #2
Task #2:
Kill task #1
You can make as much profile as you want so for example you can set different flash pattern for missed calls, sms, for a specific contact etc..

You can "capture" app notification in Tasker to trigger a task:
New profile:
---> Event ---> UI ---> Notification ---> Owner app ---> Whatsapp
+
--> State ---> Display ---> Screen off
=
Task 1:
Turn on the flash
wait .05 sec
turn off the flash
wait 5 sec
go to step 1
you also need an exit task or an independent profile to kill the previous task so it stop blinking when you turn on your screen:

Hey everyone. Anyone here use Tasker or any similar app. If so so what are your favorite profiles or things to do with them?

I'm a long time Tasker user and cannot think using any device without it.
The main thing I use it for are:
- automatic change of audio volumes based on time and location;
- hourly chime;
- missed notifications reminder;
- automatic switch GPS ON/OFF when using maps;
... Other little things depending on specific ROM I'm using ...
Macro droid is pretty good, A tad easier to setup tasks
For me, Tasker knocked me down. I use Automateit Pro, a little bit more user friendly and does the job accurately.

I am using macro droid. Its really smooth and user friendly. Not as versatile as Tasker may be but it almost serves all the needs with more macros. It was my first purchase from google play.
Only use it to turn volume down when I arrive at the office.
Tasker and Secure Settings. I use it to:
1) Set ringtone to vibrate between 11pm to 6am
2) Trigger high accuracy GPS when I open waze.
3) Auto rotate only when in the camera, gallery, youtube and a few others.
4) Switch between edge and HSPA (to save battery) i.e. only swtich to hspa when youtube, web browser or app that needs a fast data connection is active.
5) Send emergency SMS to certain people when battery reaches to 10% (hardly ever happens but hey safe than sorry)
6) Switch to car mode (app) when connected to my bluetooth headset.
7) Open up emulator when game controller is connected.
8) When within range of my home town cell tower, switch on wifi, similarly when out of range of the tower, wait 2 mins then switch off wifi.

Do any of these require root?
I can't recall but I think secure settings requires root, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Most of them don't. Secure settings trigger different gps modes.
Ok cool thank you
Llama - is similar, as some alright features
I personally went for tasker and added secure settings
After 3 failed unlocks, takes picture on front cam and logs location
when face down, set phone to silent
when near home or work turn wifi on
when at home and connected to wifi, turn lock off
when connected to bluetooth in car turn lock off
on boot set lock to on
similar to others... other additions:
> read SMS sender and text contents while connected to car bluetooth [developing] (anyone know the right audio channel to play notifications through?)
> shake vertically to lock device (too big to always reach power button)
and per someone's earlier question yes you need root for secure settings to do most of its worthwhile tasker actions. although my secure settings is not working for enabling/disabling pattern unlock in 5.0 [liquidsmooth v4.0 unofficial]
I mainly use it to control the lights at home. I haven't been able to think of any other use cases for me

want to share this? looks a bit nifty
Below are the Tasker Profiles that I use:
1. Turn Wifi On when I'm connected to a cell tower near home. Turn off when I exit.
2. Notify to take my ID card when disconnected from wifi (reminds me in the elevator)
3. Turn on silent mode when I'm connected to a cell tower near office.
4. Switch to 2G when screen is off.
5. Turn on location for Maps, Uber, etc. Turn off when not using.
6. Increase the display timeout when using Feedly, Facebook, Play Store, etc. Change it back to 15 secs when not using.

Superquick:
New Profile "Shake it off" > Event > Shake Backwards & Forwards > Sensitivity = High, Duration = Medium > New Task "LockSystem" > If %SCREEN ~ on > System Lock
Note the "IF Screen ~ ON" otherwise while your phone is in your pocket it will keep locking which is not a problem untill you try to run with your phone playing music and you get the lock sound effect every step you take
The "Shake Backwards-Forwards" is not intuitive but the shake actions are sort of misnamed in tasker. This locks the phone if you shake it up and down vertically [insert masturbation gesture here].
The medium duration is also key so you get the right kind of threshold for not having the screen go off while you ride the bus but also not having to shake it for a while.

Tasker with OnePlus One
Hello,
I am using Tasker with some of the following tasks/settings...
Sound and Timeout profiles for Home, Out, Work and Night situations.
Toggle between different screens in Lightning launcher for Home, Out, Work or Night situations.
They than look similar to the Smart Screen Launcher screens.
Capturing notifications and displaying them in situations when I want them to appear, including sound and/or vibration.
Retrieving Sunrise/Sunset times and weather information, displaying the info via Zooper Widget.
Setting different wallpapers according the time and location during the day.
Adding the current location to for instance Evernote (like the app Where Am I).
A working time registration including reporting worked hours.
-Tasker
-Lightning Launcher
-Zooper Widgets
-AutoNotification (plugin for tasker)
-AutoLocation (plugin for tasker)
-AutoLaunch (plugin for tasker)
-Email Me (plugin for tasker)
There is so much you can do with tasker
Regards, Rob
On the portal news on 2016-03-11 (thanks to @MishaalRahman for this).
This profile requires AlarmPad (either free or Pro version) and will activate your own Night Mode by setting an alarm.
You have to go to work the next morning, are sleeping, dreaming of the ones/things you love and then – BEEEEEEP BEEEEEEP BEEEEEEP – getting woken up by some more or less (most likely less) funny message by one of your friends. Awesome, right? No way… But this comes to an end right now.
Use Alarm Pad in combination with Tasker to set up a Night Mode, where you won’t get disturbed by any loud notification anymore. Activating an alarm will automatically set your phone into silence mode during a specific time, only the alarm is allowed to wake you up. When you dismiss the alarm, the Night Mode will turn itself off automatically. Cool, eh?
So, what do we need? First of all, you have to install AlarmPad (which is a great and customizable alarm clock app with native Tasker integration). Download it by following the above inserted Play Store link and continue with Tasker. Let’s start.
1. First, set up a profile called “Alarm set”. This will set a variable %ALARM to true if the alarm has been set. We need this variable to determine whether an alarm is currently set or not.
Use Event -> Plugin -> AlarmPad and select the Edit button. Choose “Alarm set” and confirm it by clicking the check mark on top right (OPTIONAL: you can choose a specific alarm for this by selecting “Restrict alarm” and then choosing the desired alarm).Create a new task and name it (for example) “Set Alarm VAR”. Create a new variable %ALARM and set it to true.Add Audio->Alarm Volume and set it to your desired value (maximum, if you tend to sleep very deep). Now you are done. You can optionally add a toast notification to verify that the task has been executed, for example Alert -> Flash -> Text “Alarm set”.
2. Create a new profile called “Alarm disabled”. This will set %ALARM to false if the alarm gets disabled manually.
Use Event -> Plugin -> AlarmPad and select the Edit button. Choose “Alarm disabled” and confirm it by clicking the check mark on top right.Create a new task and name it (for example) “Reset Alarm VAR”. Set variable %ALARM to false.Add Audio->Alarm Volume and set it to your desired default alarm value when being outside of your house. Now you are done with it. You can optionally add a toast notification to verify that the task has been executed, for example Alert -> Flash -> Text “Alarm disabled”.
3. Create a new profile called “Alarm playing”. This will set %ALARM to false if the alarm is fired and manually disabled.
Use Event -> Plugin -> AlarmPad and select the Edit button. Choose “Alarm triggered” and confirm it by clicking the check mark on top right.Create a new task and name it (for example) “Reset Alarm VAR”. Set variable %ALARM to false.Add Audio->Alarm Volume and set it to your desired default alarm value when being outside of your house. Now you are done with it.
4. Create a new profile “Night Mode”. This will set your device into silent mode during a specific time interval when an alarm is set.
Use State -> Variables -> Variable Value and enter %Alarm ~ true. Return to your profile and select a new task which you call “Night Mode on”.Add Task -> Wait -> 1 minute. Return to the task menu.Add Task -> If and select “%ALARM ~ true”. Return to the task menu.Add Display -> Display Brightness and set it to 0. Return to the task menu.Add Audio -> Notification Volume and set it to 0. Repeat the same for Media Volume and Ringer Volume. Add Audio -> Alarm Volume and set it to your desired value. This will ensure that no other profile which might be triggered between setting the alarm and starting the Night Mode task has reset your alarm volume. At last, add Task -> End If.That’s it.
5. OPTIONAL: Return to the profile screen and add a trigger event to the profile Night Mode: Time.
Here you can define when the Night Mode will start and when it will end, for example, you set your alarm at 8 p.m., but go to bed at 10 p.m. and don’t want to miss messages until 10 p.m. because of reasons. Then select 10 p.m. as start time and whatever end time you want, for example 10 a.m. (don’t worry, if the alarm is triggered before 10 a.m., the Night Mode will automatically being deactivated and you can receive audio notifications again).
6. Create a new exit task for the profile “Night Mode” and call it “Night Mode off”. This will reset your device from silent mode after the alarm is triggered or manually disabled.
Add Task -> Wait -> 1 minute. Return to the task menu.Add Plugin ->AlarmPad and select AlarmPad perform Action” and select “Disable” (OPTIONAL: select the alarm that is to be disabled). Confirm and return to the task menu.Add Display -> Display Brightness and set it to your default brightness. Return to the task menu.Add Audio -> Notification Volume and set it to your default volume value. Repeat the same for Media Volume and Ringer Volume. That’s it.
Now we have set up Tasker to toggle your own Night Mode automatically depending on your alarm’s status.
That’s all, folks. Have a nice dreaming :good:
I' not sure if i understand it very well. How can we set the audio volumes (notifications, ringer and media) in silence mode only at one specifit hore (21:00 pe). When i disable the alarm the volumes are set to the default configuration that we have on the phone? And how do they turn off (silent mode) again?

Setting an alarm will trigger the Night Mode profile (and its related task Night Mode on, which sets all notification/media/ringer volumes to 0). If you have set up a time-trigger (for example between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m.) the task will only being executed within this time frame. For example, if you set your alarm at 8 p.m. and have the given time frame from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m., the Night Mode will only being executed if %ALARM is true and it is past 10 p.m. and before 10 a.m. of the following day.
Disabling the alarm will trigger the exit task (Night Mode off) of the Night Mode profile, thus all volumes are set back to their (pre-defined in exit task Night Mode off)volume level.
If you want to silence your phone at 9 p.m., just use a time trigger for the profile and set 9 p.m. as start and whatever you like as end time.

I have the Ring Doorbell Pro and am generally happy with its performance. I also just mounted an older Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 on the wall, as a hub for my various home automation lights, switches, etc..
I am trying to get the Ring Doorbell app to open when there is a ring, or motion is detected, to show the image from the Ring's camera for 40 seconds, then to close and return to the tablet's Home page.
I purchased Tasker, but unfortunately, my recipe is not working well at all. Here is what I have as a Tasker profile:
The trigger is a Ring app Notification when either a ring or motion is detected.
1. Open Ring app
2. Wait 41 seconds
3. Go Home
This works sometimes, but most of the time it either does not open the app, or it does not close the Ring camera-view window, or it does not go to the Home page, but stays on the Ring app's list view of events.
Has anyone done what I am trying to do and how did they do it? Any other suggestions?
I also have a Smartthings hub, if this would help in anyway. And Amazon Echo
Thanks!

Thanks! I did it, restarted tasker and the notification trigger worked several times in a row.
But it still fails to close the camera window, or to Go Home
Anyone with a Ring Doorbell who has achieved the task of bringing up the view window to the front for 40 seconds (the standard recording duration of Ring), and then closing it and returning to the Home screen?
So, does this mean that Tasker is unable to reliably bring an app to the front for 40 seconds, then close it?
Bump! Interested as well..
I suggest checking two things:
1. Instead of just going home, try killing the app
2. Double check the priorities of actions and set the task to abort existing tasks

have you looked into using IFTTT? there are ring recipes on there
To the OP. Did you ever get this to work?
I am trying the same thing with tasker, but tasker is new to me so im not sure how exactly to set this up. Are you able to assist?
Bump! Anyone have luck with this?
So far I have tasker doing the following on my wall mounted tablet near the front door upon receiving a Ring doorbell notification (motion or door bell):
Screen unlock
Secure settings > wake (screen & keyboard lights on 4 seconds)
Launch app > Ring
Wait 30 seconds
Go Home
All the tasks trigger except the wait for 30 seconds. Tasker ends up going home before the ring camera fires up and displays on the screen. This also has the unfortunate side effect of locking the ring doorbell and I have to manually go into the app and click the red hang up icon to “release” the doorbell. Any ideas on how to solve for the wait issue AND to gracefully close the Ring app after 40 seconds?
Thanks.
Me Too
I'm also trying to do the same thing with an old Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet so also very interested if someone has figured out how to get this to work.
Couple of additional questions:
1. If you have a wall mounted tablet how are you dealing with RING app wanting to run in Portrait mode only for navigation but landscape mode only for Live View
2. How to hve RING app immediately go to live camera via as right now I have to go from RING menu to Front Door and then Live View when motion is detected or click on notification if doorbell is rung. My goal is to be able to do what Amazon Echo Show can do which is give a voice command to Tablet .. "Show Front Door"
RING App combined with TASKER and/or IFTTT on an Android Tablet set-up as a KIOSK have a lot of potential if these issue can be resolved.
THanks,
Chris

Ring Doorbell automation with Tasker, Notification Listener and Rotation Controller
I have forced my RING App to run in Landscape Mode with an app called "Rotation Controller".
To have the RING App go directly to the live cam when the doorbell is rung, you can use the Tasker Plugin "Notification Listener" and make Tasker click on the notification as soon as it pops up. This makes the device switch directly to the camera view instead of the Ring App Homescreen.
This works fine so far, BUT yet I have found no way to close the camera view after a few seconds automatically. I can´t use the tasker "kill app" command, since my Xido X111 android device is not rootable. The "go home" command would bring up the home screen, but the camera window is still running in the background and thus blocking the doorbell until the hang-up symbol is clicked manually.
Any ideas how to close the camera view somehow on an unrooted device?

If you can access your tablet with ADB to do the set-up, look into AutoTools/AutoInput
"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment." - Will Rogers
AutoInput Point click didn‘t work for me, because the ring app doesn‘t seem to support accessibility from other apps (or maybe i was just too incompetent) BUT i found a very easy solution: after tasker fires up the ring camera and waits for x seconds, i let it just load the ring app again with the toggle „always start new copy“. This doesn‘t kill the ring app, but at least kills the camera screen and therefore prevent the doorbell from locking up. Now it just works as i wanted

"Profile" is the event that triggers something. In our case this is the notification from the ring app. you can choose "Notification Listener Event -> Posted Apps -> Ring App" for that.
"Task" are the actions which are triggered by the Profile Event (click on the notification to open the camera screen, wait x Seconds, close the camera by opening the ring app again):
1. Plugin>Gestures>Configuration>Notification Key: %nlkey
2. wait>45 Seconds
3. Launch App>Ring
you don´t need the "if"
I got it working!! thanks alot

How to get it to work?
Hello guys,
I try to set tasker to my new Mate 20 phone. I installed it with all authorizations, and I disabled the automatic save power control.
I set a first task – turn Bluetooth ON at 9AM. The task is running but at 9AM the Bluetooth is steel OFF and on the screen I have a popup “Allow Tasker to enable Bluetooth ?”.
A second task – Put the phone in Vibration mode at 10AM. At 10AM the phone switch to Vibration, but on the screen I have another popup “The vibration mode is activated”.
Why these popups, what I missed ?
Thanks for your help
Sounds like those popups came from another app. Maybe some security app or a preinstalled app from Huawei, which monitors who enables / disables system services. Do you see those popus also when you enable / disable bluetooth in the phone settings?
Try to identify the app / service owner of the popup by pressing long onto the popup. When you see a context menue choose app info.
A main disadvantage of the OP7P is the lack of AOD and Led. The ambient display is very short, so you never know if you missed call or message.
Some AOD Apps are heavy battery consumers, or disabling face recognition unlock, OPAODmod block chrome, Plus Beat is reasonable solution, though it is not AOD.
gigiion came up with the idea to trigger the Amolad AOD app to run only if notification was missed, using Macrodroid. Here is the way I implemented his idea, using Tasker:
1. Install Always on AMOLED from google play store. Do not enable the service. For OP7P choose One UI theme.
2. Screen condition
In Tasker, make these two profiles:
- Display off > Veriable set %Screen_Locked ~ 1
- Display Unlocked > Veriable set %Screen_Locked ~ 0
In such way the native ambient display will not interrupt the AOD whet it turn the screen on.
3. Main task
If %Screen_Locked ~ 1
Veriable set %Titel1 to %NTITLE
Veriable set %Text1 to %evtprm3
Wait 15 secondes
From Amolad plugin – start amolad display if %Screen_Locked ~ 1
End if
The variables %Title1 and %Text1, can be used to track the situation that the AOD start without any known trigger. Such phenomenon can happened if WhatsApp notify “Searching for messages”.
The 15 sec delay is for the native ambient display. The double condition of Screen_locked, disable AOD if you unlocked display in this period, of just answer a call.
4. Triggers
Make profiles of event/notification, missed call, state/power/power or whatever you like, and assign to the task you just made. Name those profiles – it is necessary for next stage.
5. Toggle profiles
Make “toggle aod profiles” task:
Profile Status missed_call set toggle
Profile Status aod set toggle
etc ……..
if % PENABLED ~ *,aod,* (“aod” is name of one of the trigger profiles)
setup quick setting (number: 1st, Name: toggle aod profiles, status: inactive)
else
setup quick setting (number: 1st, Name: toggle aod profiles, status: active)
end if
I do not understand way the active/inactive are replaced.
6. Assign quick setting button
In Tasker’s main screen upper right corner three dots: Preferences/ Action tab/ quick setting tab.
Then add it in the quick setting editor.
7. Automatic toggle triggers
Clone the task you made in section 5, and change “toggle” to “on” of “off”, then you can make any profile you like to toggle the triggers.
Seems like alot of work when you can just use this mod.

The main reason that I didn't use it, is the long remind interval (min 15 sec) and the short display time. You can miss notifications if you don't looking into the black screen all the time. Any case I found stable AOD to be better, otherwise i could use Plus beat.
