I'm on XT1060 (Verizon), not sure what happened, yet my phone in one day became from most trusted phone into completely unusable phone((
via logcat I see a lot of:

i cannot use my phone at all, launcher freezing a minute after starting phone, safe mode everything works, i even updated of all my apps as i thought maybe one of them is causing this issue, yet no luck...
please advise
Considering that it works in safe mode, it IS one of your apps causing it. Remove them one by one. Once your phone is stable again you have found the app causing your problems.

i don't really have that many apps, and apps that i do have are very popular and well maintained, all apps are up to date ...
how would I even find rogue app?

Popular does not mean it can't cause this issue. To find it do what I just said. Unistall the apps one by one. Once the problem stops then you know the app that was uninstalled is the cause.

It was a Facebook app (surprise!), I opt-out from beta and reinstated app, everything back to normal now.

i recently noticed when i try to download any app from the android market or update an app it will act like its starting the download but then never actually start it. im running the latest cyanogen rom. i have tried wiping and reflashing the latest cyanogen rom and reflashing the google apps addon. i have tried restoring to a previous backup when the apps were working in the market. i have tried flashing a non cyanogen rom even. nothing i can think of (my thoughts are limited since im fairly new at all this) and still no success. i had the same problem on my g1 with cyanogen and i somehow managed to get that working again by trying similar things but no luck yet with my nexus one and its really upsetting me. any ideas on how i can go about fixing this? thanks for all your help

May sound stupid (and yes, it is) but try launching google talk. Often bby logging in to talk, market downnloads kick off. Seems to be google account related.

hi, am facing the same issue..... I've tried opening talk like the previous poster suggested but it doesn't work..... appreciate any help on this.... I'm running the latest cm, with grnstatus bar morph..

try going into settings, applications, market, and uninstall updates, then open the market again
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
OK I tried the uninstall updates idea and no luck there. Opening Google talk also didn't solve the problem. Any other ideas guys? Thanks
I wonder if you ever found a solution to this?
Well for me, I have to open GTalk and close it and reopen and close and reopen...it eventually works when it fully loads... Oddly, it seems to only happen on wifi. I'm pretty sure it's a GTalk issue.
Hopefully the new market system will make a difference...I really hope
How's the amount of space on your phone? Do you see the little hard drive icon? I know that the Market always starts to download stuff but never actually downloads anything when my phone space its low.
Hope this helps!

O.K. Wearing my tinfoil hat. Looked and couldn't find the processes that might operate this rootkit on my Bionic, but I really can't be certain what I am looking for.
The HTC versions were IQAgent and IQRD. Nothing similar that I have found, but I'll bet they are there somewhere.
Anyone found anything?

I've heard that it could be disguised as Contacts Sync and ContactsData. They have the same icon (although that doesn't mean much).
I haven't been able to determine if its the same thing or not.
Anyone able to confirm that the Bionic is CarrierIQ free?
I tried the Logging test tool, but if they renamed the app it won't work.
Either way, this thing is going to cause such a lawsuit with huge repercussion. (which they deserve)

Likewise, I ran the "CIQ Checks" test in the "Logging Test App" by xda member TrevE mentioned in this article as a reliable way of testing for the presence of CIQ: http://lifehacker.com/5863895/carri...everything-on-your-phone-and-how-to-remove-it The test completed running and nothing showed up in the "CIQ File List" so I'm assuming the Bionic is clean.
I don't think the Contacts Sync and ContactsData icons are a reliable way to test for CIQ. Found this on another site: "The icon is a default icon, not specific to Carrier IQ. It can't help you determine whether or not CIQ is present."
After all the latest news about the rootkit that is allowing apps to bypass requests and can track what you're doing on the phone, I have found that particular app on our Bionics.
First, read this article:
http://www.helloandroid.com/content/are-carriers-illegally-tapping-your-android-phone
Next, go to settings, applications, manage applications, all applications tab, and look for the Fake Blur app. I am rooted and rommed and noticed that I still have this app. Is it something that we should be worried about? Has anyone tried uninstalling it and seeing if the phone still works without it?
Well, for whatever it's worth:
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/1/2602532/verizon-carrier-iq-denial
So that would seem to strongly support the idea that the Bionic lacks CIQ.

I'm tempted to use TB to remove this completely from my phone... and it's present in Liberty v2.0

It's present in Shifter rom also. I was going to uninstall it using TB, but it seems like it might stop something from working, because when I attempted to force stop the application and went back to my homescreens, it was like I had just turned the phone on and they were sluggish.

I froze it with titanium a few hours ago and hadn't had any issues or FC's yet. I'm running Purity.
Since yesterday I've been experiencing issues with location features on non-Google apps. Specifically:
Waze boots then FCs.
Facebook can't find my location when I try to check in, but CAN find my location if I tap the location icon when writing a status update.
Google apps are unaffected. Navigation works fine and check ins via the G+ app also work properly.
The only things I've done since the last time I used Waze or Facebook was to install Rootkeeper and attempt to install the latest OTA. The OTA installation failed at the bootloader so I don't think any system changes were made.
Regardless, I've since uninstalled Rootkeeper and flashed the odexed, updated stock ROM that viperboy posted but that hasn't fixed the problem.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am also experiencing issues with my location update. This started after the update was installed on my device. My phone reads "current location" but never updates. I have rebooted many times but no fix.

I am encountering the same issue. I justed restored my One to a unrooted stock state last night. This morning ran into the same issue of Waze closing when trying to launch it. Also noticed that the location displayed on the phone now says ""My Location", Yelp and Foursquare will not display useful info unless I get a GPS signal. Foursquare shows me results all over the globe (Tel Aviv, Sai Paulo) and when the map appears in Yelp it is off the coast of West Africa....

Lol. Wow. I wonder if anyone else has this issue. If so, HTC needs to push a fix soon.

Well looks like a factory restore has resolved my issues. Thank goodness for Helium.
Factory reset worked for me as well. Thanks, Helium!!
I hate to do a factory reset when I just setup my phone. I'm not rooted yet so I can't make a backup.

I've got it too, however its affecting Google Now.

Can't lock on a location in Google now either

And once again location services are no longer working. What the hell is going on?

I cannot post links yet but it looks like Google is aware of it. Seems to be limited to HTC devices so far. Looks to be related to the recent Google play services update. Makes me wonder what HTC did that could cause this....

Same issue here... I can't even get a basic (tower-triangulated) location in Google Maps with my GPS off.

I've recently been using an app called ice box. I removed greenify and wakelocks. Been using this app solo with great success. Letting my Nexus 6 homies know about it.

Give it a try, let me know what you think. Hit thanks
personally its far too simple, there are more advanced tools out there if you have root.
Simple is not a bad thing if it does everything a more complex app does.
I use this functionality in Titanium Backup. It can deal with system apps in several ways

I agree 100%
I've tried Servicely, Amplify, Greenify, and Boot Manager (the last three with Xposed integration) and have removed all of them.
Ice Box beats them all hands down in ease of setup, ease of use and, most importantly, it actually keeps unruly apps from restarting themselves.
Somehow they would always spring back up when using Greenify and the others and I would always see them in the "Battery" screen as have used some % of my battery even though they weren't used.
:good::good::good: for Ice Box!
Give it a try, the free version can deal with 15 apps and is definitely worth a look.
I used icebox for a while too and thought it was the solution to all my life's problems but had to find a different solution after I realized that app keeps a constant connection to some mysterious address in China and sends data each time anything happens on your phone

Is that really happens? What's your source? I can't find anything on Google regarding this...
AFWall logs, NetworkConnections app, traceroute, google play store developer info. Trust me. I wouldn't say anything if it wasn't true. I really...really liked the app. It may be nothing but app analytics but I could never get the dev to reply and the address provided on google play appeared to be bogus when I looked for it in Maps...which I did report to google along with my firewall logs. Maybe its fixed. I get that developers make better results when they get feedback but I don't like unnecessary connections especially ones without an off switch. The amount of data sent appeared to be miniscule but very constant even when the app wasn't in use. I end up making my own using Everywhere Launcher + Secure Settings + Macrodroid. Secure Settings does the same thing but appears to be abandoned and the licencing used for it doesn't seem to be affected by being blocked from the internet.
How do I see which apps are always running? Im afraid that I'll freeze a app and it'll break my phone lol..

I keep getting this one random pop-up ad while using the phone and I can't seem to find where it is coming from. I tried downloading Malwarbytes, Norton, Avast, and a few others but nothing is detected. I have the bare bloatware that comes with the phone and a couple of programs like Poweramp, Showbox. Any idea would help on how to locate it and remove it as well as any programs that can find it?
I had a similar problem and someone recommended to go to settings/apps and check the bottom of the list. And there I found an app with no name that generated this issue. I unistalled it and that was it. No pop up ever since. See if this applies to you

Try using this app (Toast Source) :

I had to guess which app is spamming you, Showbox would be at the top of the list........
TouchPal keyboard used to do this, at least until you go pro.
