Ok I thought Samsung was going to apply the same sales tactics it did when releasing the Gs3 but unfortunately that isn't the case, so I've read around on tech sites they were just mentioning before the end of the year release ....now this will be my first Galaxy Note and from what i read and heard , i was told that Samsung isn't very imenmet about their release dates and it could be possibly be released next year. So im wondering if y'all could shed any light on this seeing as i need a new phone now and don't want to buy the note 1 and the note 2 end up coming in a month or two...just asking for any kind of guidance
samsung said us release before end of year, so probably expect it in US on mid december.
Buy a second hand old cheap android for basic tasks like a galaxy S or a desire and wait 4 months.
After hearing today that the galaxy gear 2 will be released in March/April, I was thinking of returning my original gear... I got it as a gift for Christmas and have until Jan 15th to return it. I have a feeling the next one will be a lot better and don't want to be stuck with one that I can't sell for half the retail in March... Anyone have an opinion on this or thinking the same way? Just curious... Thanks.
I would not count on the next-generation coming out that quickly. Watch the CES news this week and you will see that Samsung did not announce anything, and if it is only 2 to 3 months away, why wouldn't they have?

If I had the receipt, I would return it! I got it for xmas from my parents. I'm almost certain they paid the full $300 price too. I'm not going to ask my parents to return, or exchange it though. I believe it's the thought that counts when it comes to gifts. My parents hit a home run when it came to picking this out for me. Everyone says "That watch is definitely me" because of my passion for technology and android. But in my opinion this device isn't worth the money spent on it now. I'm not going to rant negative comments about it. But thing about this. The price has drastically dropped since it was just released last year. Imagine how much it will drop when the next version comes out in a couple of months! This thing won't be worth a darn.

It was announced today by a high samsung executive. Google it. It's all over the internet. They said that the s5 and gear 2 would be announced and released like the s4 was last year. The s4 wasn't released at the CES last year either... that's how they roll with the s series.

I got mine for $150 so I can't complain. If the new one comes out, I'll definitely sell it and get the newer version. Although I am extremely content with this.
absolutely no need to return it. we are months away from the potential release and we don't know any details yet. when it's out i'll see the differences and then decide if it's worth upgrade. somehow i have a feeling that they will remove the camera this time..
I know once the new one comes out and the price for the original drops I'll actually buy it. I've wanted one to go with seanzscreams sky note air n3 rom for the note 2 for a few now but I'm not spending 250-300 on a watch with limited functionality and support. Once it is in the 150-200 range then it'll be worth it for a lot of people.

I have until the 17th to return mine and I think I will. After reading that the gg2 will have lots of extra features and be slimmed down its a no brainer for me.

Not planning on it. Nothing wrong with my Gear so far, and I keep saying that if my G1 still worked I'd still be using it.
Keeping mine also. With null and my note 2 on n3bula I see no reason to return. Just like I'm passing on the note 3. Maybe I'll jump at third generation and note 4. But I look at it this way. There's always going to be the next hot toy. One after another. With all the devs and their amazing work I'm very content to skip a generation. ..

I for one would be HIGHLY pissed off if Sammy came out with a Gear 2 without fulling developing the Gear 1. The Gear at it present state is nothing more than a beta product needing a lot of something else. If this is all it's going to be, I'm gonna be disappointed.
i bought it 2-3 weeks ago and have 30 days to return it. i am going to keep it. it is more than i expected from Round 1 and with NULL and now the Add On Mod i feel it was worth the $300. heck a cheap Fossil costs more than $100 just to tell you the time.
i also would LOVE for the Gear 2 to be released next month or July or asap. if its better i will buy it and sell the Gear 1.
i do not and will not get upset about buying anything electronic for like $300 and then a newer model comes out. its pointless anger and is going to happen whether i like it or not.

Seriously. If you got one and thinking of returning it just to wait for the next generation then I think the gear 2 want live up to your expectations regarding new features.
But we Norwegians don't wait for next version because it dont kost more than filling up the car with gas 2 times.
We change phones very often, but I have to say that there isn't much difference to day when you're using 3rd party launchers and apps.
It's like getting the old phone in slightly different case with little more speed.
The only difference in new phones is that some 3rd party features are adapted into standard, but you already had it on the old phone.
The price in Norway are 390 dollar.
Maybe you can sell it here.

I just may keep mine.
It's a great device. I could see them putting in some kind of a heart monitor, or GPS, maybe a front facing camera? But I don't think you're going to get to radical with it. I'm not sure that they will put in wifi, that will chew up too much battery.
My biggest gripe with this is that it's somewhat heavy, and by the end of the day I do get a little numbness with it on the inside my wrist. Getting something that's a little later would definitely improved comfort.
So my last comment on this is that this is about evolutionary, or revolutionary. And I think the gear 1 is revolutionary! Apple probably going to put out the same crap with the same functionality and charge $500 for it. Gear2 will be evolutionary, with little improvements. Not major. Bigger Change will come in a year or two years, just my 2 cents.

Me too...or 150 dollars/euros max...hopefully it will come with "ODR" or a discount coupon.
And do not forget it is a "beta" version...If it would come with a way to power the phone and with an hdmi input it would have been a no brainer
So far they made the Samsung VR very different from the Oculus Rift.
It will be tempting and the price helps, but I would rather just save up for an Oculus Rift.

You are right they should have from this early "beta" version released it with an option for extra removable box to allow hdmi input and power.
I am going to buy it anyway but this possiblity would have made it so much better.

The two dates which are flying around the web right now are the 17th november after Samsung's Devcon and the other is 1st December. So in approx. 2-3 weeks. Atleast in the US and korea but i hope in europe too, as i'm in the same boat.
Please post any news when they become available in your country (other than the ones that sell them now), still no news from bahrain or saudi.
I just saw my former colleague who is based in the US now, he posted in facebook some vids of his son and his mom playing with the gear vr and simply put both were amazed.
Now im really jealous. websites like souq here are selling them at outrageous prices and there's chances they might not work here too because of the software update :crying:

Root it and just change the build.prop to 910F, and the problems with the updates will disappear. Ordered mine from the US and I am using it with my n910c without issues (used HopShopGo).

I went ahead and ordered the VR from Samsung US. I've been enjoying mine for more than a month now.
By the way, I'm in Bahrain, and I have an Exynos Note 4. You just have to deal with the flicker issue on most apps start-up, but I think it is worth it. My friends were really impressed when I let them try it.

I am in Bahrain as well and let me tell you, the experience is life changing lol, I have been waiting for three years to try a VR headset to see what it looks and feels like, and best way to describe it is for you to go get big swimming goggles, remove the glass part and look around
it is amazing, just order it from the US if you are curious... but aside from the awesome experience let me remind you that there will be a better version released sometime this summer. plus Razer is making their own VR headset for about 200 dollars that you can pretty much plug into anything (release is this July) and some rumors are flying about a summer release of the actual oculus rift... so if you are not in a terrible hurry, maybe you should wait a bit
The only downfalls of the Gear VR are three things...
1. you will need a Bluetooth controller for the good games...
2. the fact that it runs on battery life only without being able to plug it in... so watching a movie in it is kind of nerve wrecking near the end as I keep hoping the battery wont die by then end of the movie
3. Not much content, yeah its an AMAZING experience, but I haven't used it for weeks because there is nothing interesting to use with anymore, I have used all the good stuff, every week or 2 there is an app or two added... so far nothing ground breaking and mostly demos. makes me wish I had paid my money for the Oculus DK2 at least I would have tons more content.

I don't want wait more so I decided to buy one from Us, from bestbuy , but I am a little bit afraid that it won't work with my Note 4 Sm-N910F building NK5. Does anyone knows if the US version of gear vr works with it?

I thought the Gear VR was supposed to work out of the box with the n910H and K? Switched my build.prop to n910h and it installed just fine. Are you running the latest version along with lollipop?
It is not technically a price reduction, but Samsung just raised the trade in value of older watches. Before today, Samsung was only offering me a $50 trade in toward the Titanium I wanted. Went I just checked their website and put it my Gear S3 as a trade in, the value was now $200. I grabbed the deal. Thanks Samsung.

Mine has shipped and according to Fedex I should have it tomorrow. I won't be using the Stainless Steel band and already have a different band waiting. Weight and new features were the big draw for me.S3
BTW, I bought my GS3 on sale for $279 three years ago, so a $200 trade in seemed great to me.
I couldn't resist this deal. Was only getting a day out of my gear. Got a Watch 3 45mm Bluetooth in mystic black for $127 shipped after trade, military discount and a $70 accessory credit from the S20FE deal. Previously Samsung was offering only $50 trade for the Gear. Almost bought the Samsung 46mm watch for $189 last week but something kept telling me to hold off.
Just be careful. I took advantage of the 100.00 off for my gear S3. Then I got an email saying it wasn't accepted because it did not turn on. When I got it back they had taken the brand new band off and kept it.not sure if they don't know how to turn on their own product but as you can see it turns on just fine.
