I rooted with TWRP on my virgin mobile phone. I wanted to get rid of the internal storage crap. I have 4 Gig internal storage it shows 2.8 of that being used in "other" storage. I really want to remove it to free up phone space.
I downloaded titanium backup but after uninstalling apps it reboots and eventually everything pops back in. I've also tried link 2 sd with slightly more success.
I thought if I could just make all new apps download to the sd that should help, but even though the terminal emulator says the sd is the primary storage it's still loading to the phone first.
If I install a new ROM will that get rid of all the other stuff and let me download to the SD?
Also, I haven't been able to get S-off to work yet, will I still be able to put a new ROM in?
I only somewhat know what I'm doing, I could use a lot of direction. Thanks
Oh also, I can't backup in recovery because it says I don't have enough storage space :/

You unfortunately cant get the rest of the 4GB space back. The only amount of space you'll ever be able to get is a little over 1GB which goes down after a rom install... The reason for that is because HTC was stupid and on all the other partitions there's a bunch of unused space... There's about 10 partitions with at least 175MB FREE on all of them. Why HTC did that is beyond me and most other devs.. Now about getting rid of the bloatware crap, if you don't first install another kernel with write protection removed like this one Kernel write protection removed click here then every time you reboot it's all just going to reinstall itself. So in order to stop that you must flash the kernel in TWRP and then go back and remove everything you want to. Just be careful which stuff you remove but if I was you and you really should do this before doing anything, go back into TWRP and create a backup of your current system so if anything ever goes wrong you can simply restore it and be ok...
Edit.. The reason you can't make the backup in TWRP is because it's set to internal space... At the top after you tap INSTALL change it from internal to SD and then tap home and make your backup.

Oh I see. Thanks for the info. I did set to the sd card but still got an error. I'm trying to format my card now to see if that helps. Do I partition it before backing up?
Also do I run the kernel before installing a new ROM? Or if I run the kernel do you think I'm fine to just keep the HTC one I have and be no worse off?
Eventually I'd like to be able to tether my phone but can't think of any other super special features I'd use

Well if you've never used the SD card with the phone and you don't have nothing important on it then yes I'd recommend you format it and TWRP can help with that in the WIPE section.. You can just flash the kernel now and you'll be fine but you'll need the kernel on your SD card so you can select it in TWRP... So first take care of your SD card so it works with the phone before flashing a kernel.. You'd be fine keeping the rom you have..
Edit: You are from the USA correct? Just making sure so I know if your phone is 32 bit and not 64 bit... I'm pretty sure you're 32 bit though since you have TWRP installed.

It was not enough memory error but I got it fixed.
YeYes US.
I got the backup done and have the kernel installed on my sd card. so close! Is it possible to flash without connecting to the pc?
Are there instructions to do it through the emulator maybe?

Yes you don't need a PC to flash a kernel... What version of TWRP did you install? Because if you use the 2.8.7.0 version of TWRP and up, you can flash from right inside of TWRP all you'd have to do is select install and navigate to where the kernel is on the SD but there's a toggle button on the lower right after you tap install to change it from a zip file to an image file and you MUST fist change it to the image setting otherwise it will not "see" the kernel.img that's on the SD... If you don't have this version then open the play store and download Flashify and flash the kernel while the phone is on and then just reboot after flashing it but be warned Flashify only lets you flash 3 times a day unless you buy the pro version but since you only need to flash one thing "kernel", you'll be ok to use it if you need to and you also have to give it root permission before you can flash.
Yea turns out my twrp version didn't have the option. Well I think I got it done with falshify, the kernel version matches although the baseband version numbers differ
Hopefully I'm all set now!

The Baseband numbers are fine, they're not supposed to match.. As long as you can see that the kernel was flashed by going into settings and about phone there's info in there that will show you if the kernel was installed and another way to test to see if it worked is to uninstall or delete a few apps that are bloatware and then reboot the phone and if they don't reinstall themselves then yep you're good to go! I'm rather surprised that a woman is doing what you are because most guys are freaking clueless and want someone to hold their hand through every single step haha..

Lol well my husband tried to root it and couldn't figure it out so I had to do it
I screwed something up just now though. The apps like Facebook and chrome still won't move completely to the SD card. The partition looks good but they're still locked to internal memory even with the kernel.
I'm also running busy box so I'm not sure what's wrong.
And now I keep getting a pop-up that android.process.media isn't working :/ I'm about ready to give up I was able to download a few more apps but then something went wrong and now the play store gives a error message about usb storage... I'll probably have to run my recovery. No idea what I did wrong.

Just go into TWRP and tap wipe and then wipe just the Cache and Dalvic cache... Some apps you cannot move because they really need to be on the internal storage to gain access to certain files. Go into settings and tap storage then scroll all the way down in there should be an option to install to the SD card make sure all the boxes are ticked. If the WIPE doesn't stop your problem then you'll need to restore but be a little more careful next time.. Try moving a few things at a time and reboot then wait a few minutes to make sure it doesn't throw any errors like that and if it does, at least you'll only have a small amount of apps to move back and go through to find out which one did it lol..
Yeah, I don't know what happened. I had link2sd and apps2sd and changed some settings. Next thing I know, bam, not working.
But I wiped and it is good so long as the SD card is not mounted. If I mount the SD card it throws the android error again. SO I am formatting the card AGAIN. Yaaaaayyyy. I think partitioning it on my phone wasn't the best idea. So I;m connected to a computer now, and figure while I'm here I will update the TWRP version and maybe install a new ROM for the hell of it.

The SD card has to be partitioned a certain way.. To use Link2SD you have to have 2 partitions one MUST be ext4 because that's what your phone uses as a format type.. The other has to be fat32 or similar... They both must also be set as primary.. I used Mini Tool Partition on the PC to format my SD card but you can find another one... If you don't format it correctly it isn't going to work. Also, a new rom is not going to help anything and unfortunately the stock rom is the best one to use for now because the others have problems.

ext4? I was using this tutorial http://www.techinbuzz.com/how-to-partition-sd-card-for-link2sd-using-minitool/ it says for stock ROM to use ext2? That's what I did the first time. But maybe I will try 4 because I have yet to have it work without a hitch.

Don't worry oyu have my trust I really appreciate all your help today.
I don't remember seeing it but it's possible. I've got it partitioned again with the ext4 this time. I did get 1GB of memory freed up on my phone so that's definitely a plus. If I can move all the apps I download from here on out to the SD card I think I will be able to use my phone quite happily now! :good:
Or I'll be back tomorrow with more problems hahaha either is possible

Lmfao... You should be OK now as long as you've set everything up the right way.. And you're welcome.
You should learn about Xposed and Xposed Modules because it will make things a lot easier and you can theme your phone to look just about any way possible. There's even a module for Xposed called Downloads2SD and works awesome!!
Edit... By the way, you can also use flashify to flash an updated version of TWRP if you want or you can just flash it via the PC like you did already... The updated ones make flashing much easier! Anyways have a great night.
Ugh still problems. Unfortunately android.process.media is the error I keep getting. It is only when I have the SD card mounted. Even after formatting and setting a new partition. It was fine, then once I installed Link2SD and mounted the script the error started again.
I checked in the folders under "Android" "data" there are the .com.etc... files and then one that says nomedia. I wonder if that's what is causing the problem. Not sure if those type of files are available somewhere that I can reload.

I've formatted the card again and put it in fresh but once I try to download an app to it (straight from playstore, not using link2sd) the error came back. So I definitely broke something. Not sure what. I may try with a brand new SD card tomorrow and see if it will fix it but at this point I'm not optimistic since a complete format of the card from my computer didn't fix the problem. :[

Try to have the Xposed and Xposed Modules... First you need to install the wanam Xposed framework and then reboot and start using modules and there's tons of them... Go read how to install Wanam Xposed after you get that installed you tap download inside of the Xposed app and type downdloads2sd because this is much better than anything else because you don't have to format the SD card all you need to do is set where you want your downloads to go and reboot after setting it all up and then you're all done!!
Except now my SD card isn't working regardless so it won't help until I figure that out

Just reformat the entire SD card but first delete the partitions you made and just make the whole card fat32 and try using the Xposed Module to download to the SD card.

So I rooted my brothers g1 a few months ago and everything was great except that it could not connect to pc via usb. I told him not to worry about it but then he wanted to put music on his phone. He was messing around with the phone and he says he formatted something and now he has lost the ability to access the market as well as other apps he downloaded. For the life of him he cannot tell me what he did. So I check the sd card via card reader and I see that signed cyanogen mod (4.2.2.etc) is still there as well as other files. So I have no clue what he did and now the phone won't recognize the sd card even though its loaded and I can't flash him another rom so he can get the market back. Does anyone have a clue on what I should do???? Please help!!!!!!!
also tried other sd cards formatted to fat32 and fat with no luck.
i guess you gotta try a sd adapter, and put the files on there, as for the market app, looks like he needs to reflash the 1.6 firmware, and then reflash cyanogen if its the market apps, and google apps you are referring to.
This is a prime example of why you should never root someone else's phone if they don't know how to do it themselves. With great power comes great idiocy.

He probably formatted the ext partition. You may want to re-partition the card and reboot and see if it will pick everything back up. You may also need to start over.
When done, make a bart backup and tell him never format anything.
Thanks fort the advice guys. I'm gonna try to re partition the card. If I have to start over can I wipe to factory settings and will it return to the original firmware? if so I may do just that. In any case thanks for the input guys , love this forum.
Ok so I wiped the phone and got the market back. All the apps that he downloaded are in the downloaded section so no worries there.
I checked to see if the sd card still had multiple partitions, using a sd reader and paragon partition manager, and it does. The first being FAT32 and the second being linux. I still do not know why the phone won't recognize the sd card or any other for that matter. Any help would be soooooooooo appreciated!
Please help guys so I can get my lil bro off my back! ;P
Oh yeah I tried to re-partition the card with the paragon manager and its not going through. Any other type of manager I can use. I'm on windows7 64bit. This is really frustrating and I wanna get this fixed. Also when I plug the usb cable will recognize the external drive but when I click on it it says please insert drive.
Alright, so I'm 100% brand new to the Nook. Infact, I don't even have it yet, but I'm buying it tomorrow (3/3)
If I'm going to use honeycomb on it, do I just simply pop in the SD card and it's ready to go?
Do I need to root it before hand or is it already rooted?
How do I get GApps and Market running?
I honestly looked around a bit but I'm terribly confused. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Also, I can't even seem to get the IMG burned onto my microSD. Win32 Disk Imager keeps spitting back that the SD card doesn't have enough space, but it's an 8GB card with nothing on it, so it has plenty.
1) No, you don't have to root first - just pop in the uSD card and you are good to go.
2) To install Market and GApps you will have to install ADB on your primary machine first (which can be a PITA). There is all sorts of help around to do that. I downloaded a script (search for HoneyGapps.v2 here) that did the install for me in one step.
3) From what I understand the image is too large for Win32 Disk Imager. I used WinImage and it worked fine.
BTW - I am loving HC - I've adopted it completely. My major problem is that many apps are not showing up in the Market, even though they were installed and ran fine on my rooted 2.1 system. I think it is because the Market does not recognize the device name under HC 0.4.
How do I use WinImage to do that?
Sorry, but that program just confuses me, lol
First you use winImage and click disk then restore image. Make sure you have all files selted when looking for the file to restore. Are you going to install it to internal or on a USB card ?
Trying from SD card first unless it's too slow. If I want to install on internal, how do I backup my original Nook data?
Also, I figured out WinImage, I'm burning it now. I used another program, but that didn't do anything when I powered on the Nook. I shouldn't have to do -anything- before booting from the SD, right? The Nook is brand new, I popped in the SD card and it didn't work. We'll see what happens after WinImage burns it though
The SD version is kinda slow and if you look there is a Honeycomb EEMC V4 install that has the google apps and other goodies Installed. It has all you need already put in it. In the post you will find all the links and info needed to install. You just mount your nook like normal to your computer and copie the files from internal memory.
here is the Link use the version 2 dated 2-21

Haha, I had just started reading that a second ago actually. It lists a lot of problems. Are those problems present in the SD card version as well? Also, is Froyo more stable?
I have been running version 2 for a lil while and it runs smooth. I haven't had any real issues from it. I put it on my wife's nook also. It runs smooth and every app I have installed runs with no issues.
OK, I'm gonna try the script for GApps in a second. Where can I find the drivers for the Nook? I already have ADB installed, I've rooted 3 phones before this, so I got ADB usage down...
EDIT: Also, where can I find info on partitioning the SD card so I can still use it?
Honeycomb is built for tablets and sems more fluid. All are really development builds. We will all be waiting on the devs and google for the actual honeycomb
Which are you going to do the Sd or Internal ? If you load the version 2 internal it already has the Google apps included.
I haven't found a way to backup my original Nook data before installing it on internal. SD card works just fine, as long as I can find a way to partition it so I can still use it as an SD card. Either way, I still need the ADB drivers and the one thread I found so far has a broken link. Boo!
If you install it to internal you can then reformat the sd card and use it as normal.
OK, but then how do I back up the current internal memory and I still need a link to the ADB drivers in case I want to run off SD.
Use my USB mass storage utility (see dev). Make .tar files of internal data and system content.
To restore extract content back onto data and system.
Of course, if you get adb working, make dd images of partitions.. more conventionnal backup than above..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Alternatively, can't I just have someone send me their files?
Bump? Anyone?
EDIT: Also, how do I get ADB working if I do the internal HC?

All your questions in this thread can be answered by doing a little work searching around... you shouldn't expect a personal tutor...
If you put a little of your own effort, you will learn much more than following someone's instructions.
Thanks man, that was helpful. I definitely didn't use the search tool before.

See? You're learning already then.
First of all, Hi to all...
I have a serious problem related to my MicroSD and USB connection with my pc...
1. I wanna let you know that i try to find anything to help me but no success and i don't wanna risk it on my hand anymore because i'm in this situation coz of my self
2. Here is the problem... I bought my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-5830i like 2 months ago and i liked the phone and all but i'm a bit of a wanna have them all guy, so i started downloading all kind of apps and games on the phone, all of a sudden i got msg low memory... i check it and i see that my phone has only 180mb of internal memory which i already knew but the thing i didn't knew that can't put all my apps on the external memory ( microSD ) so i start searching for anything that will make my phone free for my apps and etc... i found so much sites and after long searching i get to the bottom of the thing that i need to root my phone so i can do some external with internal switch tweak or anything else so i do it... i root it... i have Superuser in my phone, then i get to the next thing making more space for apps and etc.. first i started with some simple like Link2SD, App2SD and etc... all of that was easy and fine but not good enough, so i get to the next lvl i found this program i'm not sure about the name some Android SDK Tool i think. The tutorial i find had this thing, you get how much space you want from your MicroSD and give it to the phone as Internal memory... i give 2gb of space of my 8gb MicroSD to the phone. on the start all looked fine somehow apps worked and i manage to transfer them to that partition... but i had problem with some apps they installed on the phone internal memory by any means and i started losing space again and few days later i got same msg for low space on internal memory... i worked it out somehow i transfer everything i can on my sd but force... i think here is my mistake but transfer all my data to sd including some of the system data and apps. i work it out somehow till 3 days ago when i was searching your forum for update of my 2.3.6 ( Gingerbread ) to other newer one... on the way i find some really good post on this forum for making my external (MicroSD) as internal memory and my internal memory as external and i was so happy to try it out, but i had some problems i put the file on the sd i do everything but the book and i replace my system file with the one from the forum but no success... i try everything but no success and i don't why the hell i get my sd card out of the phone and put it with sd adapter in my laptop and i notice that it says that the card is 5.xxGB total space... i totally forgot that i do the thing with the program like 1-2 months ago and i was like what is going on why my card is 5gb instead of 7.xxGB (8 GB) and i try to format and i format it but the total space was 5.xx GB again and i google it.. i found some program saying that will get my SD back to normal i use it and 4real my SD was 7.xx GB again... then i put it back on my phone...
3. This is where the real hell begin... my phone doesn't recognize my SD... i enter settings ->> SD card and phone storage settings... i get Total space: Unavailable, Available space: Unavailable, Moung SD Card ( gray ), Format SD Card ( gray )... i though is broke my SD but i was like lets try my 2GB card and i put it, turn on the phone same thing again... i try both cards on other android phone and both work perfect... i try connecting my phone to my pc and pc doesn't recognize my phone, like i didn't connected it at all... i connect my usb adapter to the the power and phone charge without any problem... i try resetting my phone to factory setting... phone reset and all but problem still exist, i reset on phone start with pressing all key together, problem still exist... sd is not recognized but the camera/ airdroid app/ phone settings/ etc...

By the way, did you tried reinstalling drivers? Try this to get your phone connected to your PC:
1.- Open Kies.
2.- Go to Tools on the top, and select Troubleshoot connection error
3.- Disconnect your phone from the PC
4.- On the window that appears, click on Start
5.-Wait for the process to finish, when its finished, connect your phone, see if it recognizes it now.
Meanwhile, let's try flashing a new ROM to your phone with CWM:
*This will delete ALL your data* *Your warranty will be void when doing this, though you don't have more warranty since you rooted* *You can get your warranty by flashing with Odin, but you would have to fix the PC recognition issue* *Make a backup before doing this if necessary* *I'm not responsible for ANYTHING that happens to your phone*
1.- Download the attachement below and this
2.- Push both files to your SD card
3.- Shut down your device, and boot it while pressing Volume Up + Menu button (middle button) for 6 seconds. You will now be in Recovery mode.
4.- Go to Apply update from SD card. You can go down or up with volume buttons, and you select a menu with Menu button.
5.- Select the downloaded attachement (update.zip). If no files appear when selecting Apply update from SD card, select Wipe data/factory reset and then Wipe cache, and then reboot. This probably means your SD card reader isn't working.
6.- If you can select the attachement means that your SD card reader is working. When it finishes flashing the attachement, you will see a new orange menu coming. There select Wipe data/reset, Wipe cache partition and then go to Advanced and select Wipe Dalvik Cache.
7.- After that, go back to the main menu (pressing the back button on the right bottom of your device) and the select install zip from sd, after that choose zip from sdcard and then select the GingerAce ROM.zip downloaded before.
8.- Reboot, see if your SD card works.
If your SD card isn't working yet, tell me. We'll try flashing with Odin if your PC is able to recognize your phone, but I didn't found any official firmwares for your country. If still this doesn't work, your last choice would be to take it to warranty, but for that you would have to restore it with Odin first.
first of all i wanna say i love you man you really saved my life !!! i will be forever thankful to you for doing this! i press thank you on every button where i can to bring up any good for you on this forum... anyways i don't feel like i done enough with that for ya so if you have any trouble about anything outside phone world pm me anytime

Glad that the problem was solved. I'm not very sure what you mean, but if you mean transferring apps to the SD to gain internal space, you can try this:
1.- Open Settings
2.- Go to Applications
3.- Click Manage applications
4.- Select an app, and then click on it
5.- Click Move to the SD card
6.- Wait...
7.- Done, the app will now be lighter.

2.- Open the app and type
Code:

3.- A little window will appear requesting root, click accept
4.- Write the following:
Code:
pm setInstallLocation 2
5.- Done!
6.- (optional) You can uninstall the downloaded app before.
I don't know another way, except for A2SD, but the trouble is that I didn't find any guide to install it on our device, and I can't provide you one, since I never used A2SD before, sorry, hope the above answer helps ^^

Hello.
I was today gonna install tonyp paranoidandroid 14 beta, but I am having problems going to new bootloader. I got it flashed through nvflash and all-in-one tool, but when I come to if I wanna fix my internal sd card, I of course say yes, but it doesnt work. It says it is waiting for the device to enter recovery.

I tried this twice. First I flashed it normally, then plugged the cable out, went to recovery and pressed to continue in the toolkit, without noticing I should plug the cable back in when at recovery. I rebooted to recovery with cable still in, and went in usb storage. Nothing changed in toolkit. Now I didnt know what to do, so I closed the program and did the whole process again, this time making sure to keep the cable connected when I went to fix internal sd card. Still nothing happens. Now I dont know what to do. Can I fix this internal SD card by some other method? Why isnt it working? I really need my phone back working before dinner today, and really dont want to go back to my backup.
Thank you for all of your answers. I really appreciate it.

my friend,
if you read the OP in the AIOT, spyrosk has clearly stated this in option 4:
"Safety keys: If any of the “SD-Card fix” or “Enable Dual-Boot” step fails go to ToolkitFiles\tools folder and run the IntSD-MountFix.cmd or DualBoot-Enable.cmd accordingly. Attention: Both scripts are designed to run as standalone scripts also. The IntSD-MountFix.cmd is harmless "
Check this....if you are using the TWRP or CWM, flash a ROM using internal SD card, then you will know if it works.

I try to run this script. No difference. It says "waiting for the device to enter recovery.. " still. I got CWM v5.0.2.8e installed and got APX drivers. I have no idea how to fix the internal sd card without this script, cause it clearly isnt working for me... I need this to work :|

Have you checked after you entered the recovery the first time(when the intSD Card fix in AIOT was with waiting for the device to enter recovery)...if you can flash a ROM from the internal SD and use it once boot is complete?

Not sure if I do this correctly but I try this now:
Quick format the disk that needs to be formatted according to my Windows 7, disk space of 4,6 GB i format in fat32 quick format, 4096 byte. Transfer tonyp paranoidandroid beta, as well as gapps and camera app to this disk. Unmount, flash paranoidandroid, then gapps, then launch and flash camera fix later from internal SD.
^ I tried the above and it failed when I start install paranoidandroid. It says:
Installing: /emmc/pa_p990-2.6-14-newbl-tonyp.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "p990" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "p990"
E:Error in /emmc/pa_p990-2.6-14-newbl-tonyp.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Hope that can help you pros find the fault?? I have no clue what to do when things aint working. I try to google but find different phones and different problems...
EDIT: I flashed again and changed to cwm v6.0.2.5. I try to install from sdcard, and it says E: Can't mount /sdcard/. I suppose that has to do with the internal fix not working. I can install my rom from external SD, and did so earlier before I formatted again hoping to get internal sd fix working. When I was running the ROM, it said my sd card needed to be formatted (which I presume was the external sd for some reason? I wont format that, too many files and too slow a card). Going to about phone in settings didnt work, then settings would crash, but the rest of settings appeared to work. Camera did not work as I did not have external storage it said. Dont think there is anything else I noted. I dont even know if this is relevant... But is there no other way to fix internal sd card? I tried restart PC and install apx drivers again, but the install is instantaneous as it is already on my PC.

I have done this 5 times after you reported this issue...each time it worked perfectly.
after you got this message 'waiting for the device to enter recovery', have you clicked on any key inserting the USB cable to the device? and then after inserting click on any key in PC.....thats it.
There is no issue with the AIOT as I have performed 5 times....absolutely perfect flashing without any issues....
Can you describe what you did one by one....maybe we can find the error.

There is another method you can use to fix your internal SD. Dont know if it works on the latest versions of toolkit, but expected to.
See the "IntSD-MountFix.zip" attached to the first post of the AIO toolkit thread.
Flash it after partitioning, when your phone boots into recovery for the first time. Then reboot recovery and wipe and flash the ROM. Thats it.
The need to flash this zip was eliminated by spyrosk in later versions of the toolkit, by including a script in the toolkit itself. But since that isnt working for you, use the zip.
If you are thinking of how to put the zip inside the SD card to flash it, there are various ways, such as mounting external SD in recovery(mount USB storage), putting in external SD through some card reader and then putting the external SD inside the phone, or using adb sideload to flash it.
Alright, thanks both of you. I didnt use that .zip file yet for fixing internal memory. As far as I can understand, the fix is for making internal sd card mountable on PCs and the like? I have my phone connected now, and can see both internal sd card and external sd card on my phone. Do I even need the fix then? If I now install it, will I have to set up everything on my phone again? I spent all last night customizing everything and getting it how I want it to be... dont wanna do that again..
what do you mean with setting up everything again do you mean with the system or the sdcard? if you mean sdcard then the sdcard fix wil reformat the internal sd.
By the aio toolkit the auto internal sdcard fix worked for me by the TWRP from tonyp 2.5 and 2.6
Ok, I wiped everything again and ran the zip. It said internal sd was fine -__- all this trouble lol. Now I have new questions that are unrelated to original question but still need answering.
1. I did the factory reset wipe, cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe, yet my phone still remembers WiFi password when I install tonyp paranoidandroid 14 and gapps. It connected straight to my wifi. How can that be? What did I forget to wipe? should I wipe that thing I forgot?
2. My phone is automatically downloading all the apps I installed yesterday. This is the first time it has happened in my 10 custom roms on my 2 phones. Why is it happening? I love it!!
3. How do I replace the settings.apk I have with a new one? Check paranoidandroid thread on o2x development to see what i mean. I tried to just install, but it has failed me. After failed install I couldnt open settings at all. I read somewhere that I should copy the new settings.apk to system/apps and replace the settings.apk that is already there. That failed though, when I tried to move it in file manager in root mode. What do I do? I wish I could just flash it in, but it is apk file and not zip sooo I probably cant...
4. What is the best camera app I can flash? I pretty much only use camera for Snapchat and the occasional pictures when climbing mountains and no other camera is available... Suggestions?
The internal SD fix was for fixing SD mount in ROMs, not on PC. And it says mounted correctly, after fixing the mount, so it has done its job.
Now for your new questions:
1.google account backs up and restores wifi password
2. Similar to 1. You checked the option "restore apps from my Google account" at the setup screen, so it installs your apps
3.use a root file manager to push it to system/app and set permission to rw-r--r--
4. Camera mods have been made by Jishnu Sur, feav and defcomg. You can find them and try them, then pick one which you like, it's a personal choice.
Hey, I got a Virgin Mobile HTC Desire 510. Y'know, the blue one....
I fudged up severely the other evening and installed another rom which bricked my phone. I did manage however restore a stock back-up I managed to find online, however the phone was still rooted, tampered and TWMP(did I get the abbreviation correct?) is still on it. So I go and install Supersu and Busybox in an attempt to go back to where I left off as I've been attempting to get the phone to do the internal to SD card bit but no success thus far, especially not right now. In anycase, after reinstalling Supersu, I load it up and get the message of "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root. consult the relevant forums for your device.". I attempted to reinstall threw recovery and it seems to be working till I get the actual phone's Google ROM running and click on the SuperSU program only to get that message.
Any suggestions or advice on how to do this and get SuperSU back up? How do I exactly re-root or can I somehow install the binary via PC or flash?
Can the HTC Desire 510(Virgin Mobile version) even have the the script/rom/trick setting to have the SD Card used as Internal memory or is this quest just wasted time?
Thanks
EDIT- Device version is 0PCV1

Hello and welcome to xda,
Where exactly did you get the back-up from that you used to restore?
You were close it is TWRP or Team Win Recovery Project.
I believe the reason you can't install SuperSU is because you don't have a write protect removed kernel installed. You can find one here. Check out their related forums and see which one you like best. They are pretty much all great. Some aren't being supported anymore as a heads up. To flash a kernel, in case you didn't know how:
Go into Settings-About-Software information-More-Kernel version and write down the name of the Kernel
1. Power the phone down
2. Hold "Down" button then hold "Power" key while still holding "Down" button, until you get into the bootloader
3. Release "Down" and "Power" button
4. Tap "Power" key once and it will change from "HBOOT" in white letters with blue background to "FASTBOOT" in white letters with red background on your phone
5. Connect your USB cable and it will say "FASTBOOT USB" on your phone
6. Navigate to the folder you have your fastboot.exe from Android Studio or wherever you obtained it from (Mine is in C:\Users\myusername\Android\sdk\platform-tools)
7. Hold the "Shift" key then right click in any empty space in that folder
8. Select "Open command window here"
9. Type
Code:
fastboot devices
in the command window, then press Enter just to make sure it is picking up your phone
10. You should see something like:
Code:
HT42PXU89475 fastboot
if you don't make sure your USB cable is inserted all the way and you are in "FASTBOOT USB"
11. Make sure your recovery.img or whatever the name of the recovery is, is in the folder you are currently in
11. Type
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
in the command window
You should see something like:
Code:
C:\Users\yourusername\Android\sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (12932 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.350s]
writing 'boot'...
OKAY [ 1.030s]
finished. total time: 2.385s
Your phone will still be in FASTBOOT USB mode
To test it out to see it was correctly flashed, reboot the phone
Go into Settings-About-Software information-More-Kernel version and see that the version changed
You can follow my little guide to use SD as Internal memory. Let me know if you need any help.
I won't be able to get to this til tomorrow but another issue is I can't d/l apps off Google play. It comes up with some server issue and some weird code that starts with an R. Sorry I can't give full details as I'm at work :/.

Is your phone completely stock or do you have any custom ROMs? I have seen errors like that.

I'm fairly certain I reinstalled Busybox when I was installing(or trying to) Supersu. I'm giving the kernel bit a shot.
Oh the stock back-up is this(No, I didn't back up my phone since I didn't see a reason, I had everything I needed on the computer/sd) file:
http//qc-.androidfilehost-com/dl/PObYV5uN55P2PGDNrX1pLQ/1430391523/95832962473396445/2014-12-02--16-24-34+KOT49H+Stock.not.rooted.rar
(can't post links since i'm a newb)
Had to make a backup of my empty phone and put the files into the empty back up to restore it.
UPDATE- Flashed over Modded Kernel V2.6.1 since that looked like a safe bet. Installed correctly. Tried to reinstall Supersu. Got "Android is upgrading". Supersu Installed. Next is the SD Card bit.

I'm sorry, please disregard that last comment. I was posting like your only problem was the Play Store. lol Sorry. But yea, check out those things I mentioned to you and you should be able to get SuperSU back up, if not I'll help you with anything else.

UPDATE 2- When partioning the sd card, it continues to come up as ext2. When I go into Link2SD and I go to select I get the message on whatever I select- "Mount script cannot be created. mount: invalid argument"

Are you using Aparted? What was the method you used to partition? You should partition as ext4.
Yeah, I downloaded Aparted, went in to partition the SD card("8" gigs) and selected ext4 but it comes out ext2. Do I need S-OFF and/or 4EXT Recovery?

Did you select Create then Format? If it still comes out ext2 after that, I don't know what the problem is. Format will take a while because it is creating journals.

It's saying the partition doesn't exist when I go to format after creating the partition. Even when creating the proper ext from the create screen, it still doesn't come up as ext4.
other info
device- /dev/block/mmcblk1.
when I opened up link2sd its asking me for mmcblk1p2 but there is no mmcblk1p2

Are you trying to partition the whole SDcard as ext4? To properly partition the card to be used with Link2SD you have to:
1. Delete the sdcard
2. Create a FAT32 partition of any size of your choosing
3. Format the FAT32 partition
4. Create an ext4 partition of any size of your choosing
5. Format the ext4 partition (this will take a long time, as it will create journals that are used to recover from an error such as removing the device while files are being copied)
After following those steps, Link2SD should properly create the script/mount and you should be able to link to your sdcard
If you are doing those steps perfectly and you still have an error, we have to find out another solution
Ok, I still can't get it to make Ext4......
However, weirdness- I made a Fat32 Partition and went into Link2SD. Link2SD was able to use/read the Fat32 partition. Tried to create/change the Fat32 and it didn't work. Tried to make a third partition under ext4 and it comes up ext2. Openned Link2SD and it doesn't read/use the ext2. Uses the additional Fat32 no sweat. I don't know how much of it is working(tried downloading Brave Frontier and had to delete loads of stuff in general) usual memory bull**** ensures and I see theres a lock for the full copy of Link2SD....
another thing; I can't get into/mount the open part of my SD card. Should I go back to square one or should I blow the meager 3 bucks for the full copy and see if I can do it from there?
PS- Does the class of the sd decide on if I can partition an ext3-4? Cause if so, mine is only a class 4 SD card.

I just made a couple of very simple tutorials to use Aparted and Link2SD and they are both working for me. Check them out: Aparted tutorial, Link2SD tutorial. I believe the ext2 that you are talking about is around the 10 second mark in the Link2SD video. Do you mean the /data/sdext2? That is just the name of the second sdcard partition.
If you can, you should buy the full copy of Link2SD to link external data and whatever other options become available.
The class of sdcard shouldn't have anything to do with the partition. That's just a classification of the speed of the card.
If needed, I'll make more videos to show exactly how everything is done. I think sometimes it is better to show than simply explain how something is done.
Hope this helps.
Wow.......I mean seriously, holy zen, it worked.
I had to start over from scratch since my f'ling screwed so much crap up but after everything was reinstalled and flashed and what not, It made the ext4. I don't know why the programming is so touchy you have to create it threw such weird steps but I believe it worked. Upgraded the link2sd. Next question and I'm pretty sure on the answer- Are you able to remove the SD card or is it perma-bound to the phone(IE- if I change SD cards around, will everything crash?)? Thank you so much

I'm happy it worked out good for you.
Yes, you are able to remove your sdcard. Be aware that your apps are on your sdcard so if you remove it, you remove them. They are placed on your sdcard and symlinked so Android thinks they are still on your phone in the place they would normally be. Nothing should crash, they just shouldn't show up. There is some great info about Link2SD here.
@blaqueknight..
nice videos man.
