Hello! I got my Mi3 a few days ago and I'm having some issues. Some apps that I really need won't be installed because of compatibility issues. For that reason I wanted to root or at least update the phone, via the miui site.
However, my phone seem to be lacking some crucial elements. Such as the app called Update. I've been watching some videos on how to update the Mi3, and they use an app in the system folder called Update. And it doesn't exist on my phone. And when I enter the "about phone" in Settings and press the update button at the bottom, it just crashes to the homescreen.
I've tried the way of downloading the update file, developer rom, from the miui site, renaming it "update.zip" and putting it in the root directory, remove cache and booting from the update file. But it says the update file doesn't exist, even though I've put it where it's supposed to be.
Any suggestions? This is really bugging me.
Android version 4.3 JLS36C
MIUI version MIUI-JXDCNBD14.0
Thanks
Is it genuine or fake as it sounds like it could be a fake. Or maybe your just doing sonething wrong
How do I know if it's fake? Seems real.

Downloaded CPU-Z. It does have the Snapdragon 801, Qualcomm MSM 8974. 2,27 GHz. The specs are as they should, many languages available. Market works fine. The performance is really good and smooth. It's just that it's missing update app and the tutorials for updating it won't work for me. (Watched a video showing a fake Mi3, it had the wrong cpu, fewer languages, Market didn't work, and so on)
Edit: Downloaded the Xiaomi app "anti-fake", and it confirmed that I have a genuine version, although the IMEI and Serial Number didn't exist in their sales records. Bought the phone from aliexpress, that might be why.
Everything works as it should, except for the update thingy.

As I said before in the thread the updater from About phone area just crashes to home screen and I don't have the update-app...

Yeah I tried method 1 and 2 and they wouldn't work. I might try the third option someday, but some comments mentioned issues so I'm a bit cautios with that one yet.
just download a stable recovery rom and flash it using Miflash.exe
Obviously make sure its the correct ROM for your phone.
i've used method 3 a few times now and it does work but it isn't the easiest method to understand. the pictures do help though.
Xiaomi's hardware is so delicate that there are cases of phone's display breaking inside jeans. Should i need to say about phone anymore? To avoid such instance Use Custom ROM enabled phone with Cyanogen.
I recently purchased a refurbed Galaxy Camera 2. I got it rooted, but want to install a custom recovery. I went to TWRP (preferred), but they don't offer a recovery for the EK-GC200. I see where some have installed a custom recovery, but for the life of me I can't seem to find one for this device. Can someone help me with this? I'm not new to rooting on installing custom recoveries/ROMS, and not new to Samsung (I rooted my s3-my Note 4).

I came across this today. Its a custom ROM of Android 5.0 for the galaxy camera 2 and provides a suggestion for the recovery.
I HAVE NOT installed this on my Galaxy Camera 2, so I cannot speak to it, but the recovery should at least be helpful to you.
If you do decide to install Lollipop on it, lemme know how you like it. It looks like its a stock 5.0 as if it was just an android device with no special camera stuff. Not sure if Samsungs Camera App is downloadable separate, or if there is just a better camera app in the play store that would be more useful.
I am curious about this ROM, but just got my camera yesterday and dont really feel like installing a custom rom on it yet. So far thing runs like a charm with everything I want disabled and turned off, so i have no real reason to want ot change it.
anyway, heres the link:
*for some reason I cannot post the link into the reply without part of it getting starred out.
Just google
"custom roms for samsung galaxy camera 2"
and its the 4th result
The article claims you can just download from the playstore and install recovery.
2. Install the ROM Manager on your Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 Gc. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery. You also can use ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc.(Get it from Google Play Store).

The article is fake, which is pretty obvious if you do any kind of fact-checking or research and I expect trying to flash anything it links to will brick your camera. There is no custom recovery available for the GC2 yet. As far as I know, I'm the only one that has been working on one (and I haven't released it yet because the zoom/volume inputs aren't working currently). There is no Lollipop build for this device either, custom or official. To the best of my knowledge, Samsung hasn't commented if they're going to release a Lollipop build for this device or not.
The $450 price tag turns away a lot of developers to this device. I was able to score mine for $200, but I work full time and take classes when I'm not working. I can't commit to developing for this device in my spare time.
WoW! I didn't know that XDA Developers are developing ROMs for Galaxy Camera! Maybe I can try it...
Bump for this!! I would LOVE a walkaround cam like this. )
Was wondering if we had a camera mod ever that worked for the g920t on 6.0.1 MM.
I know there' was one international version for 5.1.1 way back when but noone ever claimed it worked for 920t.
Tmo S5 had working camera mod just wondering if it exists for s6 and where Link?
Thanks xda

Check out XtreStoLite. DeoMod 3.3 is based on the G920F DPDP firmware (yes, it is 6.0.1). While flashing via Aroma, it includes an option to flash extra camera modes. These are not actually installed; they are saved in a folder in your storage as .apk files, which you can install, and which will then show up as additional modes for your camera.
If you don't want to flash a ROM, you could download the .zip and go digging for the APK's....extract them and install them.
I recently bought this phone from a website that is from my country (Romania), not from China and i don't know if it has the latest firmware on it.It has Android 6.0.1 with android security patch level September 1,2016. If i check for updates,it doesn't find any. My baseband version is A9100ZCU1API2. What i'm trying to say is that i don't know if the guys from the website put on the phone a custom rom or not, because if they did there are chances that the phone will never receive software updates and that's my concern. For example, if i buy the phone from China, will it come with google services installed? Because my phone has google play store on it. I don't know if i should download the latest firmware from sammobile and install it with Odin, but the phone might have the bootloader locked or some other stuff and it can't install the firmware and i will be left with the phone bricked or stuck in dowload mode...What do you guys say, should i let it like this for a while and wait for android 7 maybe or it's fine to reinstall the firmware from sammobile? And if i reinstall the firmware will i have google services on it? Thank you!
If you have factory room, you should already got the notification about new FW, as API3 is ancient. I believe latest is AQB2 and Nougat room is in testing phase..
What's saying in Settings/About/SW info/Build number?

I attached a picture with my build number. My main question is if i can reinstall the firmware with odin and that i won't have any surprises...
It's newest build, and I believe it's factory default, so you'll get Nougat directly once it is out
SM-A9100
If i go to settings at the status device tab,it says Official....
I have one more question...Why i can't receive notifications from whatsapp,facebook/messenger, etc.... I think this is a problem on phones that come from China or don't have an international software support.... Is it because Google is not supported officialy on this kind of devices or what is the problem? Be for i got the A9, i had a Leeco Le Max 2 and it had the same problem with the notifications
You need to disable power optimization for these apps, this option pops up from time to time, or you can find it in smart manager, under power options or something. Can not give you exact location as we don't have same SW versions
SM-A9100
I don't have that option...i know what are you talking about but i can't find apps optimisation...
Hi Scrapperr,
Sorry to see you're having trouble with such a great phone
I've had the same issue you're describing - the software looks 'untouched' and 'legit' - but it's not, it has been tampered with, just check your Knox counter and you'll see what I mean (https://androidforums.com/threads/guide-how-to-check-knox-and-samsung-official-status.874951/).
App optimization is hidden in Settings / Battery / Detail - once you have the apps listed, select the app that has issues with Notification and go with 'App power saving' - 'Turned off'.
It probably won't work - unfortunately.
I ended up using t'shock's ROM - https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/development/rom-basicplus-1-t3587455 (BasicPlus) - very stable, good battery life, notifications working , but you might have issues with the SD cards - does not recognize cards larger than 32 GB and you might need to format them, in order to be usable with the phone.
If you go with the newest ROM available - listed on https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-a9--/SM-A9100/, you'll notice it does not have Play Store / Play Services and then you'll have to read https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/help/galaxy-a9-pro-chinese-how-to-install-t3388126
Good luck and enjoy using your phone
Hey, Megaurs, thanks for this light stock Rom proposal, somehow I missed it.
Just 2 questions, did you maybe tried Tungtata Rom in order to compare these 2, and what would be advantages of Basic room vs.Tungtata
And, if this Basic room is QB3, isn't it based on latest stock available?
SM-A9100
Hi Djurkash,
Testing Tungtata is on my ToDo list, will get to it eventually - if you get to try it, please share your experience
You're right, QB3 is the latest release, as per sammobile.com.
Cheers

Hi There
Since Today i have an Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Duos SM-N960F (German DBT)
The Big Problem is that only SIM Card Slot 1 is affected when using tools like 4g Switcher or just in the Phone Info Tool.
In the Samsung Network Settings even when Sim Card Slot 1 is disabled you can not change to 4g only on SIM2 .
Yes i can switch my Sim Cards but i need them both with possibility of 4g Only in some cases.
I have no Root i know this would work with servicemode and bandselection because here you can choose the wanted Sim card and
then use the BAND Selection for LTE bands and so on. But without Root there is no way to Enter the Real Servicemode ( *#0011#)
Any Idea ?

Hey
Absolutely no way the problem is almost no one is interested in that. I was sick of all this and rooted my note 9 and installed the Alexndr dev Rom with latest pie and Magisk 18.1
The problem is that Samsung changed everything in pie and even with root all secret codes on Germany DBT are not working! Nothing. I was trying to find the EFS/carrier file but it's not there for anabling secret codes. That was how it worked with older models like note 7 and 8.
Even rooted and using Apps like Samsung Phone Information or shortcut manager are not working with Samsung and latest Pie. They get Root permission but not launching any Service codes even with root launcher. I contacted developer but no one uses pie and are doing anything.
The only thing that is working now is that I have LTE Only mode directly in the settings for both Sim cards and its working because the Dev Modified his rom. So that's what I needed but I am very disappointed that I can not enter service mode for changing specific LTE bands.
So if anyone with European N960f is able to use secret codes and real Servicemode with Android 9 please tell me which rom and csc you are.

I don't know if u can change bands but you can make shortcut master to work.
Open the app and favorite the section u want.... Eg: service mode.
Then click repeatedly on the favorite shortcut...
It will ask for root and then it should work

Hi
No even with Root and Android Pie not one Program is Working at the Moment. Even Rooted on my Note 9 with Alex Dev Rom Latest Pie and Magisk 18.1 it's not possible to
use secret codes this is redicules. First time Samsung Phone Infomation and also shortcut manager are not working even when granted root permission and launched via root launcher.
I am also active on other forums and no one has a solution . So i think i am the only one in the World wo want to change LTE Bands on my Note 9 with Pie.
I also contacted the developers of the Apps with no solution so far. Maybe it's locked on my CSC which ist DBT. But this was never a problem with Root.
Samsung must have change sonmething with Android 9 which developers have not updatet yet. At least for the Secret coded. Other things and Programs are working fine with root.
have you tried *#2263#?
What ist the different between Single and Dual version (have different hardware) ? Or only different software ?

You can do so under both Oreo and Pie by changing the CSC to "SIN" as the code *#2263# works there directly out of the dialer.
Sry for late reply. Glad I helped you out with that rom.
Now I have an note 10+ and I will not root anymore because to many apps will cause problems nowadays. I am glad that at least for sim1 lte only is easy possible. I am sure that it is also possible for the 2 sim slot on Samsung devices but the needed code for that is still kept a secret.
