Doogee X5 - video issue - Doogee X5 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm not able to open h.264/mpeg-4 avc videos (x264) 1920x1080 in this device on HW acceleration mode. I can play streams, videos only in SW mode. To be honest I can't open any video file in HW mode., only SW works.
SW works well with files lower than 1920x1080. (FHD movies are played very low FPS).
I tried all settings in Bsplayer, mxplayer (HW+, etc). It's not working.
My device is Doogee X5 (MT6580, Mali 400-mp).
What can I do?
Regards,

Best suited video resolution / kbits for TD?

I made a new video with myself with my Samsung HD Camera. It records with 50 FPS and in 16:9 - 1280x720p. I was wondering what the best results would be to convert to for the Touch Diamond. If I choose 25fps from 50fps originally, the video doesnt seem smooth enough.
And if I just choose to make it, say 320x180 and 50 fps at 1000kbit, it lags alot on my phone. What can I do? Its coded with WMV 9 codec.
Try to encode with 30fps, and 640x480 wmv9 WITH hardware acceleration (search for video encoder on forums )

[Q] HW accelerated video playback with crop zoom mode?

I'm owner of the SGS2 and i want to replace my phone with NOTE, but only if video playback with "crop zoom mode" is supported (it isn't is SGS2, so it's uselles for watching full HD films ).
Please test some video file (divx or mkv downloaded from web) in STOCK VIDEO PLAYER (this is important, because stock player use hw acceleration only) and try zoom modes.
SGS2 have only "stretch zoom mode" with HW acceleration, i'm affraid that NOTE will have the same issue..
Just tried it out, didnt see a crop zoom option. Only options I saw was normal, stretch and fit to screen.
Doesnt MX video use HW acceleration? I use it and dont have any problems playing HD videos.

Yeah I was just about to say, just use MX video. It's better in many ways really.
MX video player have support for HW acceleration... But if you can't use crop zoom mode in stock player, it will not work in any other player (yes it will work with SW acceleration, but try to play 1080p in SW mode). This is driver related, just try it and you will see...
Thanks for the test anyway.

Optimus black video playback-updated

the lg optimus black has a ti omap 3630 chipset with IVA2+ hardware accelerator to decode video, unfortunately the iva2+ can decode only avc baseline profile at 720p and main profile at 480p, but the avc high profile is not support by IVA2+
Luckily the ARM CORTEX A8 CPU has a powerful media processing engine called NEON which can decode video using software codecs which can drain the battery quickly in case of decoding hd avc high profile videos
in the change log of gingerbread update for optimus black, they mentioned support of new media formats as avc,mpeg4 and some users reported that the phone can play hd 720p avc high profile videos, other users reported that it can play 720p mp4 avc high profile and 480p mkv avc high profile smoothly and that 720p mkv shutters or lags.
that means lg have added some neon optimized software codecs that use use the cpu to decode avc high profile video, resulting in faster battery drain than hardware codecs and also im not sure if 1 ghz cortex a8 cpu with neon can play smoothly 720p avc high profile videos because when i play a 720p avc high profile video on my laptop, it consumes more than 1 ghz on the cpu which is pentium dual core 2.3 ghz with ssse3 media processing engine which i guess is much more powerful than arm cortex a8 neon
so what do u think guys?
I use MX Player or Mobi Player to easily determine whether the video is playing in Hardware or Software. So far it played MKV and youtube FLV in software.
I've had mkv videos playing in HW mode on my MX Player and i'm on Zeus 6.11o. Although i did overclock it to 1.2GHz and it decided to reboot itself, it does do an AVERAGE job.
Sound and video quality is excellent only problem is, the longer you play the video, the less synchronous they become.
I think it will be a bit of a stretch to try and get 720p video and other high quality encoding on hardware such as the p970 but something could happen.
Did you install the MX Video Arm7 codecs too?

I as far as i know, I haven't installed those codecs because it didn't ask for them. They may have already been installed prior to download because i prefer to download apk rather than use my limited 3G connection.
Bu regardless, this phone plays video beautifully considering the high compression which even lags on my 3.2Ghz PC.
update
IVA2+ is based on TI C64x DSP which can be clocked to 800 MHz
ti.com/product/omap3630 , this means that it can support 720p avc high profile by default if it is clocked to 600 mhz or above
so if you try to play 720p avc high profile video in dice player and it worked, this means that lg overclocked the dsp in gingerbread update so that it supports hardware decoding of hd avc high profile videos
hi all,
Has anybody Experienced MXvideo played a video in Software but finally played it in Hardware after installing the optional Arm7 codecs?
thanks

arm7 codecs are software codecs that use the cpu to decode video ,hardware decoding uses built-in codecs to decode video using the video decoder or dsp

MX Player Pro - optimal settings for no lag with 1080p videos

Just updated my MX Player Pro (to the current latest version 1.7.19) which is arguably the finest Android media player - it plays everything you throw at it. I figured since the HTC One has the best full HD smartphone display with the industry highest PPI in the world right now, i should at least enjoy the maximum it offers. So, i played a full 1080p MKV video but it was lagging a little on my HTC One M7. I disabled power saving mode to unleash the full power of the Snapdragon 600 SoC, but the slight lag persists. By the way, i'm on stock Sense 5.0 with Android 4.2.2, never rooted and my AnTuTu score is 26511 so i doubt if my M7 is being slowed-down because of bloatware, defects, etc. I also closed all other running games and apps, but still the issue remains.
The specifications of the 1080p MKV video that i've tested:
File Size: 9.83 GB
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x800 23.976fps
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 640kbps
Subtitle: VobSub [Subtitle]
My current settings on MX Player Pro: i'm using S/W decoding for both video and audio. I disabled H/W+ for video, audio, drawing subtitles and aspect ratio correction. Basically, i turned off H/W+ everywhere in the settings. But then, i also tried enabling H/W+ for video only, and then for both video and audio. But still, the slight lagging didn't go away. I also downloaded a custom codec ARMv7 Neon from XDA forums directly from the Settings of MX Player Pro itself. Still, no luck.
So, i want to know what are the best MX Player Pro settings that you personally use to achieve a smooth viewing experience (without lag) when playing the most demanding videos, like 1080p? FYI, i have zero issues with 720p videos.

Try playing MP4 1080p files..they just play fine
and may be its because for both video and audio (5.1) you need S/W decoding and this may be the reason for your lag too
Even with S/W decoding too it should work but causes a lot of battery drain
I reset the settings and using S/W decoding everywhere. I restarted my phone and now it's working fine. I guess a good ole reboot did the trick.
I'm also using RGB 16-bit. I tried RGB 32-bit mode and haven't noticed any slowdowns or noticeable differences.
The original video file was actually in MP4 format but i wanted to mux the subtitle into it to end up with only one MKV file (instead of an MP4 file and its corresponding .sub subtitle file), so i used MKVtoolnix to merge the .sub file into it. Maybe it's the .sub file giving MX Player some extra work. Usually, .srt subtitle files are much lighter in terms of file size and for decoding as well.

the solution to your problem is simple,... you should try to play with s/w decoder in your mxplayer and it will go fine, it also offers much more loudness adjustments compare to h/w decoder,. you will see the option in front of you! xD
Personally i use hw+ decoder for every supported format. It plays 1080p videos very smooth here. For all the other formats you should try sw with yuv instead of 16bit or 32bit rgb.

very nice, you don't read but give advice..., dude he said already use S/W
@topic i recommand use h/w instead and test with other video files also.
hw vs sw decoder?
I thought hardware is the only way to go and software is for last resort. My AC3s are playing back in stereo and now I'm trying to figure out why...
Thanks in advance...

1080p HEVC decoding

I'm thinking if this tablet could be a good choice, but I would like to know if the device support smooth playback of 1080p HEVC 8-bit and 10-bit video?
Any ideas?

Unfortunatly, there is no hardware decoding for HEVC on this device and the cpu can't handle the load for HEVC software decoding.
To choose the right device, look at the supported codecs by the gpu.
As an example, galaxy tab s5e seems more suitable with its snapdragon 670 whitch support both HEVC 8 and 10-bit (according wikipedia, qualcomm wesite does no mention bit depth).
When i use MX player with transvoding SW or HW (i forget), hevc works without freeze
