It may be more than you are looking for but I could not live without phoneAlarm. It is available at pocketmax.net or handango etc. It is the best money I have spent on my phone other than the phone itself!
Many thanks I'll go for it
My Asus 1000HA's left click button has really gotten un responsive and it's a pain in the ass. [I turned on the mouspad click but that get's in the way, anyway] and since my g1 is always charging on it I figure why not make a usb mouse app?
My g1 is rooted with multi touch and it would be a very simple UI.
Right click, left click squares. then trackball or multi touch to scroll up or down. Figure that there would have to be software installed on my Notebook though, anyone think they could devolop this?
I know Gmote is similar but the fact it has to be on wifi really isn't very pratical for the g1's battery life.
How about using Gmote while the phones plugged in ? Seriously though, I'm sure it's possible as it's possible to tether, I see no reason it couldn't tether and send data. I doubt such an app currently exists, however.

Lol cause it takes a lot longer for the phone to charge while using wifi
And yea the g1's Sloth multi touch would be great to use for scrolling.
...why not just charge it on the wall after using your computer and turning wifi off

The point of the request is to turn my g1 into a mouse pad.
I don't need a mousepad to my wall.
And I don't use a wall mount charger anymore, I just charge my notebook from the wall and my g1 from my notebook which works out real well.

it was about not using wifi. gmote requires wifi...
he wants the g1 as a mousepad through usb. quite interesting idea, even if i have no solution.
It's a little staggering at the amount of people not reading before posting, understand I could go edit my OP to knock out these questions but still. Really?

you can use AndRemote, or PhoneMyPC, both work perfectly. I use PhoneMyPC personally so my G1 acts as a wireless keyboard and mouse.

It works over data. So 2g, 3g, or Wifi.

It requires software running on the PC.
However, you can try:
mkRemote
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-devbury-mkremote-zpA.aspx
BluetoothRemote
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-stickycoding-bluetoothremote-ptEw.aspx
Both are keyboard, and mouse/keyboard apps that operate over bluetooth. I don't know how they work with a PS3 tho.
wow, i just tried out phonemypc.
this is exactly what i was looking for.
so awesome
I'm not sure if there is anything out there that will do this, or if its even possible....
I was wondering if someone could make it so that when you open the "Car Home" it automatically turns on Bluetooth and when you exit it turns it off...looking to this to be applied to Car Home from Froyo...or maybe enable one of the extra buttons in car home as a bluetooth toggle... but automatic would definitly be first choice
grr forgot to put what my "[MOD REQ.]" was in the title....if a moderator could please update this for me to "[MOD REQ.] Auto BT on/off in Car Home"...kthx
Mod edit.: not (yet) dev related, moved to q&a
Search for DockCarSwitches in the Market. It does this when you put your phone in the dock, and does it well.
Thanks for the advice, that would work, but I don't use the Google dock, hence why I'm looking for something to turn it on when car home is opened

Tasker (beta, not yet on the market, but at http://tasker.dinglisch.net/) can do that (and many other nice things).
Keep in mind that right now, when you plug in your phone to the dock it automatically turns on Bluetooth, you don't need to manually do it and you don't need an app to do it. Dock must be connected to a power source for this to happen.

hmm...it installed and i can set up actions and stuff....but it doesnt work...sad...it looked perfect too...guess ill wait for non beta one
**EDIT** Ok so apparently Tasker doesnt see any change when you "run" Car Home....so it doesnt toggle on / off...however i just setup BT to auto toggle on when power is plugged in and BT to toggle off when not plugged in, this is fine for me since the only time i use BT is when its plugged into my car charger... YAY!! set and forget is now active!! thanks again for this app suggestion, I will def pay these guys once it goes live
Setting Profiles - is what I use to automatically set my work, home, drive,or sleep settings.
Hey everyone. I just bought the Samsung Smart dock. Everything seems fine, but there is one Problem. If i watch a Video in Fullscreen, the control buttons disappear and don't show, if i move the Mouse...the Cursor doesn't show either on my TV, only on my Phone. Anyone can tell me how to fix this Problem? Thanks in advance.
I'm pretty sure if you click on the bottom where the controls are supposed to be they will show up.
That's how I got mine to show up.
Can't hover..you have to actually click on the bottom as if it was already showing.
Edit...I'm pretty sure the pointer shows on mine though...

Now i can guess why this isn't working so well. Im using a Wireless Keyboard+Mouse combination through a stick ( not bluetooth). The Phone doesn't show the Keyboard in the drop down menü at all, but the Keyboard works though. This must be the Reason.
Does anyone know a trick, where i could make my phone think, that a usb keyboard is plugged?
EDIT: Found a trick. I just plugged in an another USB Mouse and the display of the Phone turned off. Now everything works great. Its a waste of a USB slot, but im ok with that...better than buying new Wireless Keyboard and Mouse.
EDIT: Its laggy somehow, if 2 Mouses are connected. I need a way, to modify the USB reciver of the Mouse/Keyboard. Anyone can tell me, how to get access to a USB devices, to modify it?

Try pluging a USB flash drive instead of the usb mouse and see if the wireless one will work OK

The lag might be because of the screen turning off. I currently have that issue. When I plug in a wired mouse, the screen on the phone turns off but the output over HDMI gets really laggy. It happens even when you only have the wired mouse connected without any other USB peripherals. I haven't found a workaround for it yet.
The case is... hardware video overlay.
To be more specific:
1) whenever a hw-decoded video is played, it is handled by GPU only (-> only video surface is rendered, no software overlay controls, etc. available via HDMI)
2) you can force software rendering ("composition") by attaching an external USB HID device (mouse/keyboard, but keep in mind that a USB RF receiver for mouse/keyboard does not trigger renderer switch) - both video and overlay controls will be available via HDMI but with a degraded performance ("software rendering")
I do the following: use external mouse, etc. to select a desired video, click 'play' and then disconnect the USB accessory.
Tell me about the smart dock, it looks like it should be charging a spare battery in the back but I didn't read that anywhere in the description... Also you can only use it in portrait mode?? What's up with that? I find it hard to get over these 2 hurdles for $99.

The back of the device has hdmi out, micro usb port for power and 3.5mm jack for audio out to externally powered speakers. Initially it will only work in portrait but you can either use a launcher or you can use the app Ultimate Rotation Control to force the phone into landscape, even on the homescreens. Either option works well. The phone also come with a 2A charger as well. For $99, a keyboard and mouse (logitech k400 is awesome!) a few play store apps and a little time to get everything setup just the way you want, you will have a fully functional mobile computer.
When I disconnect my phone I use the rotation app to go back to auto and my phone functions just the way it normally does. Stupid simple.

video decoding method isn't the only cause of lag.
in desktop mode there is quite a performance drop even when not playing any video files.
you can test this with 3dmark, your score will be average when using screen mirroring, but it will drop by 10% when in desktop mode (single screen)
Has anyone possibly figured out a way to disable or remove the Galaxy Note 2's "desktop mode" switch? I have a USB mouse which I would love to use with it (don't want to spend extra $ on a bluetooth mouse), so I was thinking that the problem could be solved if the automatic detection of the mouse and subsequent switch to "desktop mode" could be disabled somehow. Thoughts?
I see a thread about OTG charging not being possible due to the Amazon kernel that is a few months old, has anything developed as far as this? I'm planning to install one into my cars dash and it would be great if I could also add a GPS module to it but obviously I need charging capability since it will be inside the dash and always plugged in.

Nope. You get one or the other. That's unlikely to change as such use does not benefit Amazon (no clicks). You might consider a Bluetooth receiver which would leave the USB port available for charging.

Fantastic I never knew bluetooth gps modules were a thing! Do you personally use one? I'm not too keen on modern android especially when it comes to separate devices like this, will I be able to use it with any maps app and be able to set the default gps device or will it only work with certain apps designed specifically to use one?

Search Amazon "GPS receiver bluetooth". Pricier than usb receivers. I do not use one; prefer devices with integrated chip. However, I have tried a USB receiver on this device to verify it works. No personal experience with BT receivers. Another poster mentioned an app that would permit reception of GPS data from another device such as a phone. Good luck.
