Change N6 screen to HD from QHD - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just dropped the resolution down using Terminal Emulator and changed the DPI and while the phone mostly looks good I have found it hard to get hotspots working with Zooper widgets. Does anyone have any advice about fixing this? Thanks

LCD Density Changer The App?
I am using the free one From thE Market and it works amazing. I have it set to 180 and there is much of a change. Widgets look really small tho! Give it a shot!

Yeah, it's on the market, and here on XDA
Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm too cheap to pay for something so simple. So, I whipped out the old adb pull, notepad++, and push method.

I'm using Launcher Pro. So, the widgets are resizeable.

180 is way to small, and also doesn't function right... I would press on something and a blue bar would pop up where I was touching.

280? You mean 180? Your sig says Desire Z. 280 would be giant on the NS, I'm using 215 and it looks nice. I noticed that anything other than stock 240 results in some banding issues on some window headers, such as the gray banner on the notification pulldown.
LOL, I tried out 280 to see what it looks like and the homescreen icons are so big they're rubbing up against each other.

I totally agree with the banding but I can't stand large text and the amount of icons you can fit in the 240. I have 5 home screens (5 icons x 8 icons each).

BTW I'm in love with your wallpaper. Would you kindly post a link to it, please?
Also, is there a way to make the white backpanels' borders of the clock sharper, so it will look more "native HD" if you know what I mean?

wall paper attached i will turn this true hd shortly .. my aim was to get a fully working sense 4 widget on our xooms
Well, my friend, you did it right. This is the prettiest widget I've ever seen on a tablet.
Why does it look like this?

Happened to me too. Go to your launcher settings, enable resize all Widgets, then long press the widget to stretch out the hidden edges.

Thanks for porting this over to us non-sense users. It's looking stellar on my Xoom and figured I would try the white.apk on my gnex. The flip clock section is working just fine. It's the date/weather bar area i'm having issues with. The high/low temps overlap and the weather icon/background bar are smaller than they should be. What xml's and values would need editing to fix this?

Unfortunately, stock can only resize certain stock Widgets. If you still want to see how it looks just grab Apex Launcher off the market as the re-size option is on by default. Then just add the widget to the home screen, long press the widget until some options pop up, select re-size and resize until all the sides are visible.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
This was mainly for the Xoom as pics allows us to resize Widgets to you galaxy users I think u will have to try to make a slightly smaller version. Give ma a couple of hours I should have something to try out.. for all Xoom users resizable Widgets must be activated on your device

Decompile the API file and edit the widget main file...

Thanks for all the help with the widget_main.xml file to get it to scale to my GNex correctly. My Xoom and Gnex are looking great together.
Would it be cool if I posted the resized widget over on the Galaxy Nexus board with giving credit to LP for the base and this thread for your xoom port?

Changing LCD Density

Hey,
I wanted to change the dpi in order to let the icons on my screen appear bigger.
But I don't know which values I should set since I don't really know how this works..
So could anybody tell me the values which won't brick my phone?
Thanks

Lowest dpi - 170
ok but wouldn't this make the icons look smaller? Any way to increase density?

I used this app once, you need root access and that's it, there is a higher density and does make icons larger, i would lower it though

Actually, the only way to change that is to change dpi for framework-res (I think). :/

I just told you, the only way to change it is to change dpi for framework-res(Android System) and reboot. This will change the dpi for all apps.
Or manually modify framework-res.apk to change the dpi only for lockscreen.
There is no other way.

Did you ever figure this out. I'm trying to do this too. JUST the lockscreen it took me all of 2 sec. to change it system wide.
anyone managed to change the dpi of just the lockscreen?
or found another way to center its contents?
its driving me crazy that the fingerprint unlock is not showing up above the button!
Did anyone find a work around for this? I need to either center the elements in the lower part of the screen or change the dpi of the lockscreen only. Same problem here! Last thing left on my list!
Same problem here .
Anyone got solution yet?

Figured it out.
In AppSettings look for an entry called key com.android.keyguard
Set DPI to 640. Under that select/check Apply res to widgets.
Save (Maybe reboot too).
Lockscreen is now stock while everything else remains (at least for me) sweet 530 DPI

Corrupted images on Twitter after changing LCD density

I used a terminal emulator to change the default density (560) to 460. Every single app works fine except Twitter. Images on Twitter are corrupted. When I set back the density to 560 the images return to normal. Is there any way to fix it? Or is it a side effect I will have to live with?

Also change density in build.prop. Google how if you don't know.
