Red outlines on white text/fonts - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys! I'm hoping you can help me out or give me your expert opinions.
I just purchased a Galaxy Tab S2 and on first boot (the Samsung/Android logos) I noticed the white text had a slight outlines if red around them.
Now I'm kind of OCD and look for things like dead pixels but I noticed this right away without trying.
Is this normal? All the white fonts of the tablet kind of exhibit this behavior, especially if I look at white text on a black background.
I went to Best Buy to see a floor model and it did not seem as bad as mine, but I can see a little coloring if I super zoomed in and put the tablet to my face. None of the (older) Samsung tabs we use at work for the office look like this either.
Should I initiate a return? Just want to make sure before I try. I ordered this through Amazon Prime Now and exchanges are more of a hassle than normal Amazon.
thanks again!

[Q] Dark Stripe on AMOLED Screen

Just got my Captivate, the screen is beautiful, but this has been bothering me ever since I got the device.
It's just a dark, skinny, blurry vertical stripe that comes up form the bottom of the screen. It's really only visible when a solid color is being displayed in that area.
I hope you guys know what I'm talking about because apparently I can't post pictures.
What is this? LCDs get dead/stuck pixels and AMOLEDs get this?
Is there any way to fix this using software? Like those stuck pixel fixer apps for LCDs?
if u just got it return it for another one, why whould u accept something thats obviously broken
Definitely a problem. My screen has always appeared just fine, and never with any sort of vertical stripe or other artifact like you've described.
+1 return it!
There's a couple scratches on the back of the phone. Does that matter? Will they take it back?
Id raise hell till they took it back. One of the main selling points of the Galaxy S phones is the screen..Hows a ****ty screen gonna look for PR on a brand new phone??
Id say take it back..if they dont take it, make sure you have the accidential warrenty and tell em it went for a swim..theyll prolly give you a refurb sooooo...might wanna thing about that as well.
But my screen is flawless and it rocks.
Sent from the awespme Captivate using the best app in the market.
Weird I have the exact same issue. its a darkish line on the left side of my screen that almost goes the whole length of the screen, it really is only visible on a solid gray background but its definitely annoying.
I was just kind of dealing with it, but now you're making me want to see if i can exchange it.
Never dropped my phone or bumped it in to anything either.
Ill probably go to ATT tomorrow and see what they can do, Ill show them this thread as well.
The AMOLED screens are meant to be notorious for color sticking. If you use your phone as an always on desk clock, music player with screen on etc , you stand a chance of burning colors (dimming the specific LED's), resulting in a faded vertical/ horizontal line where the taskbar would be.
Might not be the case, but worth looking into. And if its a brand new unit, replace it.
I had this happen with a Captivate that had never been dropped I think it was a crack in the LED behind the glass, they replaced it no questions asked it was 3 weeks old. If you are within 30 days take it back.
You have a one year warranty - take it back to AT&T at any time.

[Q] Green vertical pixel -suspect production fault

Hi Guys,
Not sure if i will be getting love letters or flames on this (maybe the later) but i can see a vertical green pixel line on my Galsexy S (my friend coined it, , yup, gurl-sexy a*s if you will).
Sorta like showthread.php?t=541945
but that is definitely a faulty screen. But on Galsexy it is more subtle than that, and it is the farthest left pixel (vertical orientation with Samsung logo at the top).
You can see this clearly on bright, preferably white, background.
Initially, i thought it was just my phone, but my buddy's phone has it too; exactly the same situation. In case you are wondering, nope, we bought it separately.
Could be production fault, could be just a batch, but how's your Galsexy?
Hello Bachok
I've had a look at mine and i had to put screen brightness up to maximum and like you said, it shows on a white background (i used google homepage)
There is a very very faint green line(running down the left) that i had to really look for just to find, so yes it does exist but i wouldn't say its a fault. It looks to me like its just the very edge of the screen. The line on mine is around 1/4 of a mm (about the width of a hair, maybe less) is yours worse? or are you just picking faults
btw Galsexy - I like it!
It's the built in LightSaber app!
same as this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8304185
Like I said in that thread, ask for a REPLACEMENT!

Believe me, i couldnt care less; not picking fault at all, just for the fun of it. Yes, you have to really-really-really scrutinize to notice it. I think the pixel may have been mis-cut from the production line, maybe red and blue element is missing? who knows...
Does this put me off? HELL NO

Nope; i dont think it is that severe and since there are at least three separate cases of this green thingy, i think it may have been by design
I would have been devastated if i got the same problem. This vague green "lightsaber" may have been there from the beginning, but you cant see it on dark (especially black) background.

I'm in the same boat as you. I upgrade in July and I know I'm definitely getting this phone but just don't know in which color. I'm leaning towards the silver one because it looks really nice and I've never had a phone that was not black. I'm going to compare both in person before I make a decision though

Silver because it looks good.
choice of colour will be subjective,i think- personally i prefer black
I had a long time to decide what colour I wanted to order. The phone came out in mainland China before it really got going in Hong Kong (the model I wanted), so I had a chance to see the phone whenever I walked past the million or so phone shops that dot this city. Prior to seeing the phone in person, I had decided from pictures and videos on the internet that the silver is the one to get. Once I saw the phone in person, I ended up at the store for about 20 minutes trying to choose one. Both colour options are very nice. After the 20 minutes, black was the one that I wanted. I went back and forth a few times over the next couple weeks, but I eventually stuck with my original choice. Silver is nice but, I found that if you weren't looking at it up close, it for some reason appeared cheap. The black looked great at any distance, and fingerprints weren't as bad as some people are making it out to be.
So my advice is to go to a store and check them out. You won't go wrong with either, but I think Black is the best buy (probably also helps my last phone was the white One X).
*edit* The silver ones I have seen here have all had pretty terrible build quality compared to the black. Gaps and raised speaker grills a plenty.
Silver is pretty sharp!
Black is well, black...kinda boring IMHO.
Black looks stunning to be honest. But Just stick to the silver.
Having seen chips on the black one in person recently, I will again say that stick to silver.
From my HTC One, right in your face....
Silver for me because I tried black unit. All my fingerprints

Is it a defect or not? (display)

Hey guys.
I upgraded from the s3 to the HTC one a month ago and there is something i just cant get my head around understanding and since you probably have the HTC one yourself you should be able to help me.
The screen is very and crisp and the colors are much more accurate when compared to the s3 but in colors like white, light blue and light green for example i can very easily see a array of semi transparent lines across the entire screen and in google now (in the white background) for example it almost looks like the screen is wet without it being wet of corse, the samething can be seen here in the xda forums in every white portion of the sait. Does this make any sense to you? Or is my HTC one defective? In the s3 I never saw such things and in the ONE when displaying darker colors none of the issues I described are visible but on lighter colors they are very visible. Anyway if you could reply to this message I would really appreciate it since I'm trying to understand if asking for a replacement will fix this. Thanks anyway

blue or white

picking up n6 today cant decide what color is the blue as bad as they say on youtube for fingerprint or is it not that bad
thanks
I have the blue and fingerprints are pretty apparent. So much that I usually dont want to look at the back lol. But even then, I don't know if the white would be any better. That being said, I could be wrong because I don't have the white. I'll be putting a d-brand skin on it soon anyway.

Thanks mate
I got the white one not just because the finger prints are apparent on the blue but also I like the silver metal surrounding the phone on the white more than the blueish tint on the blue one.
I would say go with the white, it is more elegant. Plus the display of the phone and its surrounding is black from the front so you cant go wrong.
I'd personally go with the white one but seeing how hard it is to get a Nexus 6 in a reasonable time, pick up one that has the earliest delivery date.
Blue is much easier to get if you plan on getting the 64GB variant. I was able to nab it the first week I tried to get the phone!
The blue nexus 6 seems awful for me and white as well,
Google where is the black one !!!
anyway, I'm not rush since I have perfectly working nexus 5.
I got the white just because im tired of dark devices that I've alwsys had. It's a nice change
