Can you downgrade Baseband version: G920AUCU3BOJ7 (current) to G920AUCU3BO12?
If yes, will this process make any changes to the phone permanently? like tripping knox
Also, how do you do this?
thank you
jin
Yes you can.
it doesn't trip knox.
just find the firmware, and flash it with odin.
just want to be certain
I read that downgrading from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2 will trip the knox.
But it won't trip KNOX if you downgrade from G920AUCU3BOJ7 to G920AUCU3BO12?
If this is possible, why are more people not just downgrading and rooting? You make it sound so simple, but there's gotta be a catch.

I don't think you can downgrade from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2.
My question was downgrading from G920AUCU3BOJ7 to G920AUCU3BO12. Both are 5.1.1 firmware.
Ah, my mistake. I misunderstood.
(Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the XDA mobile app as I eagerly await root)
So does the g920aucu3b0j7 root work?
Aucu3boj7
This is the only place anywhere I find this exact base band. Did you find root?

There is no root for any 5.1.1 build on the AT&T variant.

I figured based on some things I found after posting... If it's not on XDA then it's not happening, that much I've learned. I've also learned that my disdain for both Samsung and AT&T is at an all time high. The bloat is killing this phone. Time to find a way out of it and into a Nexus 6P.. Anyone want an un-rootable bloated SM-G920A lol?

No. Just means you void your warranty with Samsung.

So quick question guys:
If I root the S6 with the new tool, it won't trip Knox?
Once its rooted, would I be able to replace the lock screen with the one from stock android and replace the dialer with the google dialer? I love stock experience but I wanted a premium device so I went with the S6.
Thanks.

Unrooting.
Is it possible to unroot at some point after using this method? Lets say I need to use my warranty for the phone. Is unrooting possible?

No.. Your warranty is gone forever.
Why do people keep asking this silly question, you root your phone you kiss your warranty goodbye.

You shouldn't answer unless you're sure. This root method can be reversed by used ODIN to completely go back to stock.
I have the newest update 5.0.2 I would like to get root.
Build Number
LRX22G.G925AUCU2AOF4
Kernel Date
Aug 5th 2015
Good luck the exploit was patched. Hopefully someone will crack it but don't get to exited

I believe there is a way for you too downgrade , root then keep the root with an update .. not 100% on the method but it is a possibility. You would have to use the new kernel i believe.

I'd probably jump on that. Luckily I'm still back on OE2 so I've got root. But sooner or later AT&T will release 5.1.1 and I'll want it.
Anyone already on 5.1.1 without root? try some common root methods. Pingpong, etc. To see if anything works.
Hey you never know if an older exploit makes its way back into newer releases. It's happened before.
Please post your results and what methods you've tried.

So, I wonder how long it will be before we have Flashfire files for OI2; rooted or otherwise? I'm not expecting current root methods to work, and am absolutely FINE waiting however long it takes for root. Meanwhile, I'm reading that 5.1.1 brings us an overall performance improvement, and just for that reason, I am soooooo excited we're FINALLY getting it!!!

What the purpose of this thread or at least my intention was to have people attempt current root methods on OI2. Also to obtain the tar for 5.1.1 since I have all of my OTA services disabled. I could enable them but if someone had the tar already that would be better.
Additionally, I'd like to work towards a root method with other devs and enthusiast's for 5.1.1. Not that this release will be any easier than OF3/4 But you never know.
Thanks.

I would settle for the OTA file to sideload with ADB just to get the update but the .tar would be fantastic. I read that the edge guys sideloaded the OTA and retained root from 5.0.2.

I'm not sure that's been confirmed successful yet. I've been actively keeping track of the ATT S6 Edge forums since I got the phone in April. Many users (including me) have yet to update from OE2 (5.0.2) because that's the last update where we were able to keep root. I know that there are threads here on the regular S6 forum where people upgraded from OE2 to OF3 and OF4 while retaining root, but I haven't seen that happen on the Edge yet. (SOMEONE PLEASE HELP US EDGE USERS!)
In regards to the OI2 upgrade for the Edge, I saw 1 post for someone that "said" they upgraded from OE2 (5.0.2) to OI2 (5.1.1) and kept root, but no one else has had any luck with that yet.
Has anyone got the OTA file for the standard S6 yet?
I've not had much time lately to do proper research or trial-and-error on this topic (especially since this is for a friend). I was wondering if it is at all possible to root the SM-G920A on 6.0.1 G920AUCU3PD6? I've checked out the other threads and they are all about updating or there's that one about flashing the Verizon stock. But nothing about just achieving root on this update.
Thanks in advance if I don't get back to the replies quickly!
Not yet to my knowledge.

Hey Guys,
I have a ATT SM-G925A I just had and insurance replacement. The new one came with 6.01. My original has 5.02 rooted.
Can someone please clarify this, It seems from what I have been reading is that there is no way for me to downgrade the new 6.01 phone back down to the 5.02 version, or root 6.01 either.
Is that factual?
yes. confirmed. can't go back down or root. I believe Sprint or t mobile is still capable of root in marshmallow. never buy phones from AT&T if you want to root.
