I recently purchased the G920t factory unlocked version on Amazon. I rooted it and installed a custom ROM. I was hoping that someone could help me out with finding the stock firmware for the factory unlocked variant. I believe it is slightly different from the standard T-mobile firmware, as it didn't include any t-mobile apps, etc. The reason I was asking is I've been having call quality issues and wanted to flash back to stock to see if it would be resolved, but didn't want to flash to the standard t-mobile stock as I believe it is slightly different. I know I should have made a back up before flashing a custom ROM but I failed to do so and am now trying to fix the issue afterwards.
Thank you so much for any help you can offer.
What firmware was on it originally? What baseband?
My USA factory unlocked 920T shows a baseband of G920TUEU3COK1 after the latest OTA update was installed. XDA rules don't allow me to post links to SamMobile firmwares. You can search their site for "920T", but don't used the "SM-G920T1" search result. The proper firmware has "Cellular South" as the Country/Carrier.
Thank you so, so much. So that'll allow me to roll it back to the way it was right out of the box?

yes, but I don't think it'll reset the knox counter to zero.

I have a Samsung Note 8 that was purchased on Verizon in the US. I moved to Germany and moved to T-Mobile. As expected, my phone stopped updating. Early into the Oreo experience I played with my phone, flashing and updating but I'm lost as to where to go from here.
It's currently XAA/XAA/VZW and running build R16NW.N950USQ3CRBB.
What do I need to do in order to go back to letting my service provider push me updates? I currently don't have the time to keep playing with my phone and keeping up to date on the forum threads. And every time I try to read like i"m supposed to, I get lost and overwhelmed.
I'm sorry but help would be appreciated.
Are you still in Germany?

You can't get the updates anymore since you left the USA now you have to manually flash the updates yourself using odin flash tool. You can always see what the current firmware update version is by going to Verizon's website and checking it and then download the firmware and flash it and you'll be fine. Maybe if you flash the unlocked firmware N950U1 you'll be able to get the updates because I have Verizon Note 8 and I get the updates but not from Verizon. Edit: this would be the unlocked firmware N950U1UEU5CRK1..

I agree with @MrMike2182. If you're running the carrier firmware, which it appears you are, then you won't get OTAs. Those are pushed by the carrier, and require you to be in the US.
You can try the unlocked U1 firmware, but I'm not sure that will work or not. Those OTAs are pushed directly by Samsung, but are intended for US devices. You may have to just manually flash updates from now on.
Curious...if you're going to be in Germany for an extended amount of time, why not sell the US Note 8 and get a N950F? Or even upgrade to a N960F?
I use N950U1 in The Netherlands with NLD carrier. OTA updates are received without issues or delays. So if OP debrands his VZN Note by flashing unbranded FW, as stated by MrMike2128 he will be fine.
The Note 8 was a gift as we were leaving the US so as much as I'd like a newer one, I can't afford it right now.
I'll try flashing the crk1 but where do I find it? Thanks everyone for your help.

As per the title, bought an unlocked G970U instead of U1 by mistake. Should I expect a Verizon splash screen greeting me in the bootloader? I don't wanna see any branding anywhere in my phone. Can I get rid of any of that flashing U1 firmware?

Which G970U phone you have bought. If it was a Verizon branded, then their logo should greet you If you bought T-Mobile variant, then its logo will be present while booting the phone. Flashing is possible and it depends which carrier you have. Also don't you have the phone in hand yet?

Yeah, the phone hasn't arrived yet. In the pictures I can see the box has no carrier logo, but I'm guessing it's Verizon because I haven't seen a Verizon branded box yet. Also, the box definitely says G970U.
I've been a Nexus/Pixel user all my flashing life, so I'm well versed in the fastboot/adb dark arts. How does this compare to Odin? There are so many new terms that I'm still trying to understand: CSC, HOME CSC, USERDATA, etc. Is there any guide I can follow to flash my incoming phone to U1 firmware?

The T-Mobile version is also G970U, so it can be pretty much any carrier. USERDATA file is present in carrier firmware, if you flash unlocked firmware you won't need/have this file.
Link below is for S8, but works for S10 as well. Of course you would need to use firmware files for your phone. I would also use instructions under "Flashing standard firmware" first using Standard Odin. If you get an error when staring to flash, then use (Patched) Prince Comsy's Odin.

Thanks a lot. One last question. I'm based in Mexico (we only get Exynos here), so I got a U version to get the Snapdragon CPU. Obviously I don't want any US carrier branding/blotware in the phone since I couldn't benefit whatsoever from it. What about OTA's, though? Will I get them whenever Samsung releases an update for U1? Or will that depend on my carrier? Should I update monthly using Odin? Do I have to factory reset? So many questions :silly:
The link you provided doesn't work, btw. But I've since found some other Odin guides. Thanks!

I corrected the link in case you need it.
To answer OTA question: I had unlocked U1 model of S8 and when I flashed it with T-Mobile firmware then my phone got OTA from T-Mobile when they release it. I assume if you have carrier branded phone and flash it with U1(XAA) firmware then most likely your phone will get updates when Samsung releases them. You won't have to use Odin every time there is an update if you flash properly. Also, it would be advisable to flash using CSC file instead of HOME CSC, so your phone would be wiped. It is because you change firmware and want your software to be fully compatible. After flashing and you check your phone's software update and see that is shows "not compatible or something similar", then I would just suggest you to do "reset"(factory reset) from setting and after you setup your phone, that message will disappear. Also don't do any software update before flashing as you phone may get a fresher firmware than the one you might be trying to flash.
1) Check your current phone firmware
2) Download firmware you want, but if you can, get the firmware that is a previous one than the current one, so you will check to see how your phone gets OTAs
3) Flash using Odin
4) After that disconnect and let the phone do its thing
5) Set it up and check to see if software update section in settings don't give you any messages such as the one I outlined above, if it does, just factory reset the phone
I've seen a couple of threads about this here, but I'm confused about where I can get the firmware to flash an unlocked S10 (SM-G973U1) to T-Mobile firmware, and they've not really told me where to download the firmware that I need. One thread pointed at S10+ firmware, not useful to me, and the other didn't give any URL for downloading firmware.
Can anyone help me find the right firmware? I've used Odin before, and am fine with that. I also know that I have to have the right firmware for this to work *smile*.
Also, the firmware to flash back from T-Mobile to unlocked would be very useful, since I may want to change back to unlocked at some point. The reason that I want to flash T-Mobile firmware is since I'm still on the May 1 "monthly" Android security update on my unlocked S10. That doesn't make me happy, more than a quarter behind by this point...very disappointed.
Thanks!
There's a firmware thread here:

If the phone is SIM unlocked, the Firmware you want is the USC or XAA firmware... That way it will switch carriers apps and bloatware when you change sim cards...
Search for samfirm on google....

Hi i am new here and need help with updating my Samsung note 9 i still have a baseband N960USQS1ARI5 but will like to update to the latest firmware. i'm using an unlocked AT&T phone. can anyone guide me? I'm not sure if updating the firmware will lock the phone and the process to update, do I just update the firmware in stages as the updates were released till i get to the latest update or can i update straight up to the latest? I am thinking of using Odin, is that a safe way to do this? any help will be appreciated. Lastly, can I change from the AT&T firmware to lets say a none carrier based firmware so as to stop seeing the AT&T logo on boot up? Maybe switch to a firmware that supports global or international? Does anyone have links to an unlocked firmware update i can use, as well? Please help!
I must state that the phone never updates automatically as it always says the software is up to date.

to your last point, at&t phones are notoriously bad at updating
factory unlocked phones will remain forever unlocked and phones unlocked that are bespoke to a specific carrier will also remain unlocked even with Odin flashes providing that the method employed to unlock it was legitimate. Some unlock methods employ root and only trick the phone into thinking its unlocked. Well, once you remove root, and thusly the trick, the unlock is gone. I have ran across rare examples where the person swore up and down that they unlocked their phone with a legit unlock code and that it relocked to a carrier once the sim was inserted and initial programming completed, but i dunno. Sounds weird to me, but every person who said this also said that the phone locked to a carrier other than the one it came from originally. Take that for what its worth, but i still mostly stand by the first couple lines of this section of my diatribe
If you want the at&t crap gone, get the N960U1 firmware and flash it in Odin. You will need the modified version of Odin to flash it so it can ignore the 255 errors the phone throws up from flashing firmware for a carrier (or, in this case, no carrier) on to a phone that it wasnt originally designated (not designed) for
go to sammobile.com/firmwares, get the info for the firmware you want to d/l, get the Frija tool or Samfirm and download the firmware thru one of those as theyre literally 5x faster and flash it

Hi, my phone is a Note 9 ATT factory unlocked.
Below is the link for my post
I've updated my phone using the link , and still unlocked and working Ok.
I hope it can help you .
https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....note-9-att-rom-update-sept-2019-t3979303/amp/
Hi all, I'm new to modding in general so there's many things I don't quite understand, hoping somebody can help.
I bought an S10 from a site which was supposed to just send me a refurbed (italian) S10, instead they sent me the US version, (G973U) and I believe it is carrier locked since it's stuck with Android 9 and doesn't find any update.
I have tried searching to no avail what I should flash to simply unbrand it, and allow it to receive OTA updates without tripping Knox.
The build version is the following: PPR1.180610.011.G973USQU2ASGC and the CRC is XAA/XAA/ATT
Thanks in advance.
You shall call them.
Who and what for? I'm past the point of dealing with those sellers, I just want to flash the phone.
CSC (not CRC).
XAA is a multi-region USA ROM, so I don't think it will change over properly for you in Italy. There are threads here for how you reflash a different ROM. The one I used for my S10+ was this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-links-and-flashing-discussion-here.3905897/ but I am sure there is one like that for your S10 non-plus... find it, follow the instructions, and you should be all set.
Thanks! I'm a newbie, what does it mean it wouldn't change properly? No OTAs? Tripping KNOX?
I have found this which seems to be the equivalent of the link you posted.
So, I should flash the U1 version right? However I see only a file "SAU - 1 - ....", and my build number doesn't end in that, furthermore I don't know which bootloader version I'm at.

Oh ok. I couldn't understand first.
For that, You'll flash in EDL mode. But the problem is if your device is powered by a snapdragon chip, it'll not working seamlessly.

No problem. I'm aware of the mode I have to enter to flash, as above I'm trying to figure out which stock rom I should flash to avoid tripping knox, and to receive OTAs. What won't work seamlessly?
Well, mods can close the thread, found the way to do it. Leaving it in case somebody ever needs it.
First, found & checked the bootloader version (5th number from the right in the build version) since you can only flash older bootloader versions apparently.
Then downloaded through Frija the rom for the unlocked phone variant (SM-G973U1) and the unbranded CSC (XAA)
Then using odin 3.13.3b flashed the rom

Hello, I'm in more or less same situation. When you flashed, which files did you use? All of them or just the AP_*** file?
Never mind. Flashed it anyway, now I don't see the AT&T startup screen anymore which is promising. Firmware version is now Android 11 (SM-G973U1 and not SM-G973U) on XAA CSC. Will see if I get any firmware updates later.
