Hey,
I have a question and i think this is the best place someone can answer it. I want to design a keyboard theme but i don't know what i need to do to implement it.
Someone told me you can implemet the design by inserting the layers and everything in a tool. The guy didn't knew the tool name.
The question is: How can i implement a keyboard design without knowing any code?
Hope someone here cand answer my question.
Thanks

Hi, I don't really have much time making this thread right now, but I will be back later to fill in and try to be as precise as I can be.
Basically, I wonder if there is anyone out there who knows of a "Microsoft paint" kind of program, or even better up; if anyone is up for the challenge to create such a program for the Raphael
Please don't leave this ignored, I no longer want to draw my...drawings using the "notes" feature
regards
Mod Edit: Changed title to "request" as we do not DEMAND anything here.

Not sure if it supports vga or not, but it's a start!
Pocketartist.
yeah Pocketartist is the best paint program there is

Sorry, my English is not really that great, thanks for correcting me.
I did not by any means want to seem rude or anything, it just came out wrong due to my lack of English skills. :]
Thanks for the tips, I will def. check this "Pocketartist" thing out as soon as I get home.
Also, I really appreciate the quick replies
Okay so first of all, let me just say, I have no idea when it comes to creating a theme for any platform, so nothing I post up here will never be created because I just don't 1, have the time to learn how-to and 2, I don't want to learn how to, excuse my ignorance.
However, I do know my way around photoshop, so with a spare hour at work today, I started to create this.
By all means, if someone with the knowledge wants to take a shot at converting this, go for it, just let me know before you do .
*Few more icons added!
*What the homescreen could/might look like.
It's very simple and eye attractive, looks good. i can't do anything though, same as you in that department.
Clearly this isn't going to go anywhere, worth a try though.
Sadly, I do not have any practical experience in this subject, but this topic does have a tutorial on what you need to do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8504851&postcount=2(the topic currently says that the tutorial is 'temporarily down..' so just keep checking it, I would assume he is modifying the tutorial to make it work with gingerbread roms) To create the battery and the white app slider background, you would need to modify the Framework.res.apk
I think this theme looks great, although I do not know the limitations of themeing in sense 2.1 roms; so may need to ask an experienced themer on which method to take, flashable.zip or Skin Chooser theme.. My best advice is to ask the guy who made the thread I linked to you, as he has converted many themes, if he has the time; and you can supply the images, you'll have a working theme in no time
I already cooked the frameword-res.apk last night, it looks odd because the kitchen doesn't theme the recent apps section so that has got the carbon black look that Sense has, I think the theme would be really nice and clean, and could be done in a variety of colours to treat each persons needs. Simple and effective!
If anyone would like the cooked framework let me know, like I said, it's far from done. We'll call it Version 0.0.0.1
Looks really nice, clean and minimal
Would like to se it finished and in some darker color - greyish
That's what I was just saying, in a variety of colours so each user could choose their own from a selection. Like I said, I'd happily finish creating this but only if it's going to go somewhere.

LOL writing while you posting
Maybe you could pm he_stheone64 about help to do this, he knows his way around theming with the new gingerbread framework. As I understand a few things has changed from the old 2.1 to the new 2.3 release.
Hope this will succeed for you
I don't WANT to approach anyone, if someone has some spare time on their hands and wants something to do, I'm sure someone will say they would like to convert this for us. All I want to know is whether or not I should finish the PSD's, VOYE VOTE VOTE

Ohh you misunderstood me I didn't mean that should approach him for him to do this theme, just as a heads up for you to get help on how to theme. My bad I misread your first post
Nah it's cool, don't worry about it lol, if enough people want this finishing, I probably wil contact someone to see if they would like to collaborate on it.

Hence the 'Inspired' in the title
I have a Samsung Captivate I just upgraded to Froyo 2.2. I really like the Samsung lockscreen with puzzle piece's for email notification etc..., but I also like to pin protect the phone also. I can't use both features together, it's an either/or. I haven't found any utility that works this way with puzzle notification, slide to unlock and then pin to verify, so I'm looking to do something on my own. I dowloaded the source code for my device, but don't know where to look or keywords to use. Lock, screen, lockscreen, unlock list numerous files, but nothing seems to associate to what I'm thinking I need.
What is the best approach to something like this? Easier to root and modify system, do something to ROM (same as root?) or create a lockscreen widget? I thought if I had source code then it might be easier to tie the 2 options for locking the screen together, but could you just do it with a widget by copying and combining the source?
Thanx - Dean
Is there anyone out there?

I thought this forum was for a little assistance? This too difficult or are you just disgusted with newby's asking dumb questions?
Dean
well the pieces are there in the source but there are already many lockscreen mods / custom and stock roms with lockscreens that you coulda grabbed pieces from.
but you will also need a working knowledge of android apping... i have a feeling youre not there yet. and it WOULD be alot to explain to a newb to do himself with NO beginners knowledge..
try posting a bounty thread for a few bucks, you will have it within a couple hours... ive done it many times...

no need to be rude, not all of us check the Q&A section every day.
the problem with your logic is that the source code you have for you device is purely for the kernel, which will not be at all helpful for what you want to do. the lockscreen is designed and built in java for the android userspace. it will be a part of the system and would have to be decompiled, rewritten, and recompiled if you have any hopes of doing this.
edit: should also add, the title to your thread doesn't really explain/catch the eye, so I actually had no real reason to want to click on this link except I hit it by accident thinking it was another thread.

I'm not looking for something to market, just something for me. I find the easiest way to learn something is to have a goal in mind. I was just looking for someone to point me to the right location so I could look the code over. Searching for what you think it should be and finding it are 2 different things.
Thanx anyway!
Dean
Sorry - I overlooked post by Kaik541
Thank you for the explanation! I now see my logic is flawed. I assumed the kernel was the complete package. I will go back to the beginners circle with my tail tucked in :<) I am newb-1

hey guys...
i got a simple but somehow unusual question and i didn't know where to put it... so i thought off topic isn't the worst idea...
i little background: the first smart device i was able to afford, was an ipod touch 2nd gen... it was cool and it was cheap... but didn't have any mobile phone funktions... anyway... it was cool... but i had to jailbreak it... because i can... xD after a short time i found a very cool icon theme for ios... called glasklart... https://www.glasklarthd.dreamnet.at/about
https://github.com/glasklart/hd
then i wanted to have a smartPHONE... but i didn't have 800€... and i also didn't like the golden jail... so i bought an android... and after some time i wanted to have a different icon theme... so i was searching for glasklart for android and found an app...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.go.launcherex.theme.kxnt.glasklart
not all apps i used had an icon, but it was ok... after some time i sent the dev an email and asked if he would add icons i would send him... i got neither photoshop nor any photoshop skills... but i can do a few things with gimp, so i though i might be able to do some basic icons, or maybe find someone who might help... idk...
but i never got an answer... i sent a 2nd mail months or a year later... but still no reply...
so now we come to the question i have:
am i the only one thinking that glasklart is the most beautiful, straight forward icon pack... and loooks soo nice on amoled screens? or is here maybe someone else, maybe with photoshop/gimp skills, who might be willing to help me creating some missed icons?
i don't know much about the license... but since the icons + templates are hosted at github i guess it must be open source... but i don't know if it is ok, to use the icons out of the android app, because there is at least a base for android...
TL;DR : make glasklart great again... \o/
