Note 4 heating up too quickly - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I use my phone it seems to get warm rather quickly, and because of that it thermal throttles, is it because the poor heat dissipation? What's going on man.

Go to your settings then developer options. Uncheck the Force GPU Rendering box. Then if you're rooted, use the Xposed framework and the Wanam module under the advanced tab and uncheck Enable touchwiz DVFS.

Cpu sleeper works on dualcore processors?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28663827
So someone posted this in the 4g slide forum, it was used in the sg2 forum
It seems as if it should work, not knowing how scripts work i wanted to ask some smart people if this would be safe on the touchpad.
Ive been running it on my 4g slide with great results
What do you think?

its fine. it wont hurt your device to set cpu profiles to apply certain cpu settings when your touchpad is idle, screen off, battery low, etc etc. theres tons of free apps that can set cpu profiles. i use system tuner pro, and rom toolbox pro. also most cm9 roms will have profile settings in the system settings menus.

[Q] Any way to force 2D GPU Rendering?

Starting from ICS, the developer options in the settings included Force GPU Rendering, so it must be on the Fire HD somewhere, just inaccessible. I'm rooted, so is there any way to access the setting?
Nookcolor tools has a force gpu rendering (use 2d hardware acceleration in applications) its under developer options. The not sure if this is what you want. I have not tried doing this but I do know it is there

Yea, that's exactly it!
A simple Quadrant test shows a boost in 2D performance. Thanks!

You can also install anycut from the market. You can create a shortcut from the activities list called developer settings.
Yep, I found a lot of cool developer shortcuts when I went digging through the apex shortcuts menu. One In particular was the keyboard theme, you can use Google, amazon, or old Google keyboards reinstalled through amazonIME.

what does force 2D rendering do? Is it faster performance? Does it negatively affect anything else?

AOKP Stops Screen Flicker

I had screen flicker for a long time, it was mostly visible on white backgrounds and while processing with Wi-Fi, I have tried everything I've read, but with no result.
I also tried almost all the roms, and today i realized that flickering stops with the AOKP ROM.
I have installed it about a few hours ago and haven't faced any obvious flickers after that ... Can anyone else try that?
Could anyone guess what might be fixing the problem within this ROM?
So far all my problems are gone, I hope it continues this way.
Disable tegra screen dimmer. Download nvidia prism toggle from play store. Disable auto brightness. And lastly disable wifi optimisation. You will not see flicker anymore.
Probably the dimmer is disabled in this rom.

I've tried disabling the dimmer, auto-birghthness and wifi optimization, but it hasn't worked before, i haven't heard of the other though...
I tried all but disabled dimmer from the app + auto brightness disabled did the job.

What do you mean by "disabled dimmer from the app"?
I have tried doing that with "Trickster MOD Kernel Settings", but it didn't work.

Nope. I see this option in franco's app too but it's not working as supposed to.
Download Nvidia Prism Toggle and see for yourself. Enable it at boot too and that's it.

Help in increasing battery life

What kernel is best for battery life and supports Kcal except Hells core?
Zen and Franco kernels are excellent choices. In using Zen currently.
It's all just an illusion

The things that gave my N6 better battery life.
1. Flashing Franco' s kernel (default settings).
2. Black wallpaper (app No Wallpaper).
3. Change wifi-interval to 200 (build.prop editor).
4. Flashed black google now launcher (XDA thread)
5. Disabled services ( XDA Guide to disable Google play services; app 3C Toolbox).
6. Installed app Pixel Battery Saver.
7. Installed app Greenify.
8. Disabled not used apps.
9. Clean Manager to block most apps to auto start.
10. K-9 mail instead of Gmail.
11. Dropbox of the blackout team.
NOTES
Pixel battery saver switches of pixels, there are a lot of options. Needs trial/error. Than it is possible that ticking on button/link won't work.
But there is an option to turn off the app.
The black google now launcher does not work when the original gnl is updated to a recent version.
We could ask OP for an update.

Might as well turn it off then
BTW: a weak/bad connection can be a battery drain too if you have a weak signal, the modem then keeps searching indefinately for a good connection.

Auto-closing apps in background on Nougat

My Oneplus 3T is autoclosing apps that I am using while running, they are running in the background to give me timing and track my GPS, they are just randomly closed.
I have disabled Aggressive Doze and Auto-close high power apps but it is still happening. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Yes, activate the lock (top right / multitasking screen) or flash a custom kernel (like: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...ernel-franco-kernel-r1-28th-november-t3508904) which supports more background apps (limit raised to 60 from stock 32)

Thanks, I didn't know what the lock button was for. I'll try it next time I go running!

hello, does the lock solve the issue, could you please confirm ?
There are some hidden settings which might cause this
1. Apps - Setting - Apps auto-launch . Make sure it's turned off
2. Advanced - Recent app management - Make sure Normal clear is selected.
There is option in setting that close the application as soon you clear it from recent apps ....Setting/system UI/advanced
...Make sure it desabled.....Enjoy your device
I can't find any such setting. Which phone are you using now?

How about battery optimization setting? apps > gear > special access > battery optimization > apps in Not optimized list?
Yeah, I know. There's Doze, Aggressive Doze, and this Battery Optimization.
I'm having the same issue. Tried Franco Kernel and it didn't help.

I have tried locking Pokemon Go and it seemed to be working until today when it was killed in the background and I had to reload.
I'm not sure if this is a PoGo issue or a OnePlus issue.
I have now turned off battery optimisations for PoGo to see how that goes.

So far none of the solutions listed have worked for me. I have same problem with Pokemon Go, Lyft, and Uber. I'm on stock 7.0 not rooted. I tried the Beta 7.1.1 and no difference.

Same Problem
I'm also having the same problem with PoGo. I can't find this lock button.
I have the same issue with some apps, including PoGo and Firefox and probably Discord (chat application). I bought this device with 6 GB to have not these issues. I'm quite disappointed. The issue occured with Android 6, with what the device was shipped, and with the latest Android 7.1. Maybe it doesn't have 6 GB at all and they did cheat me?
The lock button on the task manager screen does just prevent apps to be swiped away in my opinion.
i have the same issue when playing with pokemon go. very annoying. especially when its connected to my pogo plus. never had an issue with my s7e.
glad i'm not the only one. NPR app closes by itself when I'm listening to it.. I've noticed flipboard closing while i'm using it as well.
Just use a custom kernel, stock one has a limit on 32 max apps open. Other than that the solutions are those given already (Lock icon, disable battery opt for that app, disable doze, etc.)
