Hello people!
Recently my can app does this error "unfortunately, gallery has stopped working"
Other apps are working just fine.
What I'd want to do is go in recovery and delete the HTC cam app and the gallery app.
Thing is I can't find its location.
Also is there any app that can delete apps installed from recovery or it must be done manually?
Any help is much appericiated!
I didn't even know that you can use the HTC M9 camera and gallery apps on a Nexus 6.

So let me get this right. You flashed something but dont know where it was flashed to or how to remove it?
Use any root explorer and then navagate to the location it was installed to (you will have to find that info on your own, I am spoon feeding more then I should already.) and then delete it.
Also those apps need HTC frameworks and drivers to work properly. Dont use them on non HTC devices. Your just asking for issues.

Well first thing is run a logcat. My guess is that it messed up your camera as it is not made to run without HTC frameworks or drivers. Forcing apps to working that can damage the built in software.

The weird thing other people saying it works fine on their n6 on 6.0.1.
Could be a problem with chroma ROM.

Has anybody tried all the versions spread on the XDA Forum? I tried this ones:
Versions available: (Use the latest from below, or use DeToX-cz's installer app)
1. "Talk_with AV.zip". Same as stock with just the FC fixed so it works on other phones.
2. "Talk_with_AV_no_wifi.zip" or "talk1.3.nowifi.update-signed.zip". Added a fix to let it work over your data connection.
3. "talk1.3.nowifi.v2-signed.zip". Added an additional fix to let it work over data.
4. xilard version. #3 with Camera and microphone tweaks.
5. [email protected]'s gTalk installer. Installs the new gTalk files. Needs root. Not sure what mods he has incorporated in it.
6. xilard version +theos0o portrait fix, by $omator
7. version "1.33" by theos0o [thread][multiupload link]. I copied the 3 files in the update.zip manually using android commander and it works fine. (Nexus one, 2.3.5 CM nightly)

In some of them, the other person cannot see me. In other versions, cam works fine, but I cannot hear the person and viceversa. In the modaccos version, the front cam is 90° turned around. Well you know all the problems. Thats why my question:
Does anybody knows a gtalk [video/wifi/cam switcher] custom app that really works on the Incredible S?
BTW: Im using Virtuous 2.37 Rom.
Thanks for answers.
Am using the default 'talk' app in virtuous unity 2.37.
seems to be no problem here!
i did have trouble in MIUI rom, but nothing with VU.
has this been persistent?
otherwise i would suspect faulty network
And video call works on yours? Can u see and hear the other person? Can the other person hear and see you? Is your front cam flipped to 90 degrees? Can you switch between front and rear cam?
Sorry for so many questions . I'm just pissed that my gtalk doesn't work properly.
Thxs.

I did a full wipe and installed the new VU 2.39.
Talk works fine, only that the front cam is flipped on 90°.
Is there a patch or something? maybe this framework-res or something like that? i dont know what else to try.
Can someone help?
Thanks.

lol. i understand your frustration.
but everything works fine. i can hear and see the other person and they can hear and see me too.
the image is quite right, not flipped
am sorry you having these issues!
since you have wiped and re-flashed, you could probably try uninstalling the 'talk' app & then download and re-install from the market.
maybe that would work
I'm using Koush's CM9 Alpha 12 ROM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356228 with the Franco kernel, and I'm saddened that it's sorely missing one big feature that i'm used to in the NSCollab ROM i came from. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959282)
In the stock Android 2.3.3 that came with the phone, if the Facebook app was installed, it could sync contacts over from your account, including phone numbers, emails, and pictures. The OTA 2.3.4 removed that function, as Google had deemed it as a violation of their TOS.
NSCollab (based off of CM7), which i'd used since 2.3.5, enabled that function somewhere in the system files, and it was fully usable, no questions asked. The CM9 build i'm using, however, lacks that feature.
I've compared both of their build.prop files and don't see any differences that would stand out, and I'm at an impasse here. I'm almost determined to find the setting in the CM7 ROM that allows Facebook syncing on this device and be able to use it in CM9. I'm not sure i want to comb every system file, though. Any assistance?
The reason it works in custom ROMs is because they patch it to work. It's not a build.prop issue I do not believe. It is a bit deeper than that. Hopefully someone can she some light to get it working. It's a feature I use as well.
But that's the explanation "why" it does not work.. because it's not supposed to by design lol.
by no means do I have an answer but, syncmypix in the market is a decent alternative for the tome being.

I'd determined that long ago, but i'm almost certain there's a flag somewhere in the system files. My cousin has an HTC Thunderbolt (horrible phone on the stock ROM) running the stock ROM, Gingerbread 2.3.5, and it's enabled on it. I know that Google specifically disabled it on their flagship phones, and i want to know how they did it and how to reverse it.

I have tried Syncmypix, Friendcaster, and another one that tries to re-enable native syncing, but none of them work near as well as native syncing.
In GB it was in system\app\ContactsProvider.apk , one line need to be added which whitelists com.facebook.katana. Maybe it's the same in ICS.
[edit]
There, I looked it up: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978470
Here you can find the official statement from Google about Facebook sync:
http://www.androidguys.com/2011/02/23/google-drops-facebook-sync-nexus/
Anyway you can sync your contacts using Friendcaster and you can update your contact pics using syncmypix

I'd considered that, even set up a decompiling environment, but never got around to trying it. Just tried it, and found out that comparing the two ContactsProvider.apk files (from CM7 and CM9), that ICS does not use the arrays.xml that Gingerbread did. Adding it in, recompiling it, and signing it results in FC's and wiping out your contacts storage. Thank god for Titanium backup.
Edit: Derp, found out system apps aren't supposed to be signed. Trying again.

I well know what Google did, and i'm very disappointed in them. And i'd rather not use third-party apps if we can enable native syncing at the system level.
Pushing the unsigned apk doesn't cause FC issues, but it still doesn't sync. The Facebook app cuts off at "Other Settings". Does anyone want to test out the apk for me, see if they get the same results?
The APIs are different in ICS and doing the white list trick may not work. Check out the smali folder because there could be stuff that needs to be changed in there too...

I've already tried this. You'll be able to get the account to sync in Accounts, but the new contacts app is substantially different from the Gingerbread one... Like ^ says, I think a few smali edits have to be made to include this properly.
Greetz
I'm combing the smali folder as we speak, but nothing stands out as a definitive match
The one problem about ics, you're working to fix. Thanks man! I hope you find your answer!
Haven't found it yet, though. I've been trying to get into contact with koush, see if he's had any insight.
MoDaCo got it working on the Galaxy Nexus. If anyone has the galaxy yet, you could upload his rom and them comb through the /system and see what has been changed. we could then possibly implement it for the Galaxy S as well.

Awesome, good looking out. Downloading it now, i'll be combing the files right away. You don't need to have the actual phone to peek at the system files
But unfortunately, it seems that it is a premium feature.

You can download it. I did earlier. Look at the first post of the thread its there.
The premium stuff is like to cook your own. I'm sure the standard one available in the first post has it implemented.

Oh, sweet. I'm not familiar with that developer, so i didn't know how he does his stuff. I'll push and pull some files to and from my phone, see if i can't get it working.
Everytime I try to use the front facing camera on my Droid 3 it says "unable to intialize" and I have to power off the phone to reset the camera. I've found lots of people that have had the same problem (why didn't I find these posts BEFORE I bought the phone??) but I've not found any solutions.
I have not made any modifications to the phone. It is not rooted. It says my system is up to date.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thank you for any help I can get. I am beyond frustrated

Any other suggestions?
Which version of software do you have? Go to Settings, and go to the bottom and tap that and look at the version (post a screenshot or picture so we can tell).

(Sorry for no screenshot,I tried a handful of screenshot apps and didn't have any luck with any of them working right.)

Do you have any third-party apps that use the ff camera? For example, have you installed any anti-theft security apps installed that may be set to use the camera if somebody has stolen the phone? Is it possible that one of those running in the background is not releasing the camera for other apps?

I didn't install anything like that and I don't think any of the bloatware has anything like.
This same issue suddenly struck my Droid 3 a week ago. I'm running stock .906, rooted, most Verizon bloat removed. Never had an issue with any camera apps accessing front or back cameras, then suddenly my front camera either shows black or won't initialize. I searched the web pretty extensively, but haven't found any definite fix. I've tried clearing the system cache and deleting the camera app's data with no result. I'm hoping to avoid a hard reset if possible, as I hate having to set everything up again, and by the reports I've seen it's only helped a few people.
You could create another ROM slot and try that from Safestrap. But it might be the hardware going pfffftt.
I know some others have had the same issue I believe they had to sbf. If nothing else if the issue survives an sbf you will know it's hardware

Problem seems to have shown up after Google+ apps started to populate phone.
Hey guys,
once again, gallery app issues. Even on JB, my gallery does not display my Google+ albums - and I have no idea why. Right now, I also have a Nexus 4 here, which does this without any issues and right from the start. I don't think I'll swap it for my Razr i, cause the battery on the Nexus is much much worse, and (compared to the Razr i) it's huge.
The weird thing is, the option "make available offline" in gallery settings is there, so it seems like Google+ albums *should* work.
Am I the only one with this issue?
Is it possible to try the vanilla google gallery app, or is that a no go because of the different hardware architecture (x86 etc)?
- hendrik
AFAIK we already have the vanilla Gallery app, just compiled for x86 but the app itself is the same vanilla app as on ARM.
Thanks for the info!
Am I the only one with this problem, or is this regular behaviour on the Razr i? If I'm the only one, it's probably not because of the app itself at all. Anyone?
I noticed the current Google Gallery APK to be much bigger than ours, so it might be quite a different one - why can't I just install that one? Does anybody know? It says "couldn't be installed" when I try.
Nope, I have this issue, too. I haven't really looked into fixing it, but I'll keep an eye on this thread.

The MegaPack that is offered in the development thread fixes this by installing the original gallery app and camera app. Unfortunately it's not working for me yet as I'm using the home made fastboot that already incorporates the SD card patch. With the MegaPack the storage manager crashes because it is trying to find /storage/sdcard1, which isn't there.
Not sure if this has been questioned already, I'm having a mess around with a few ROMs on my HTC One, if I install a ROM with Sense/HTC ROM on the phone it all works perfectly fine and flawlessly, as soon as I install a Google Edition ROM or CM etc it wont let me download any apps giving me the Error 403 on the Play Store. I've tried all the solutions and none work, wondering if anyone shares the problem or knows a fix.
Thanks, Dan.
Seems like you're out of luck if you've tried "all the solutions".
Sarcasm aside, list what you have done so people know what you've done, how you did it and then maybe they can offer some assistance.

Well by all the solutions I mean I've literally spent hours doing all the obvious ones, clearing proxies, clearing Google Play Services, Play Store and the Download Managers caches, datas etc. Removed my account, rebooted whilst doing all this. Signed in with a different Google Account, I literally cannot find another solution anywhere, sorry for being vague.
It must be a problem on Google's side. The same thing occurs with my Xperia Z, and I've tried all the fix suggestions on both stock and PA 4.0

Maybe it can help:
FEB 11, 2014
Google Play Store is experiencing yet another partial downtime and is bringing up the dreaded 403 error message for a good number of Android users.
Actually this error has come up once in a while, often randomly and without any explanation given afterwards. It's not exactly a fatal error but it does prevent users from downloading or updating apps. It can be an annoyance and an inconvenience at worst.
Unfortunately for users, there isn't really anything they can do about it, other than wait, and maybe complain.
