Per-App Dpi Module or App? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know of an app or module to change dpi for individual apps? I'm on Marshmallow with Xposed. I'd like to use tablet mode for some games.

Changing settings in build.prop needs a reboot to become active. There is a build.prop editor in the PS. My dpi is set to 384. Font size huge.

I don't want to change dpi of the whole phone, just a few apps.

There's an app floating around somewhere called Screen Shift I think it does something like you're wanting.

Need good old p.a back!

Would changing DPI run tablet apps?

Love my Galaxy Note, but wish I could fit more onto my massive screen at times. On other devices such as the Nexus 7, changing the DPI will enable a tablet UI? Is this the same on the Note, so if I were to root and change to a lower DPI will tablet apps run?
Is it safe to do this, or will it ruin pre-built in apps such as S-Memo and the dialer/other phone apps?

I don't want to change ROMs, as I need the Samsung S-Pen apps. I like their functionality and use them to map out homework and my day-to-day schedule. Can't lose them. Nope, just wondering if changing the DPI would enable tablet UI and have it work properly. If not, then I won't bother. Not too worried, just would be a nice thing to have if possible to do!
Changing dpi won't turn your phone into a tablet it will just simply make things smaller so you can fit more on the screen

You can change your phone to tablet mode with any kernel/ROM. Can't remember the details but a quick search in Q&A and DEV should throw up the hack.

Tablet mode is 213 dpi and lower. It will work on stock gb roms, but has been disabled on stock ics.

The DPI of the display is how many physical pixels there are in one inch square of the phones screen, software cannot change this.
There may be software that could possibly force the phone to use a lower resolution, but i'm not sure why you would want that.

I got bricked after using an app.
If you're rooted you can edit the build.prop yourself, or use Xposed to control each app separately.

Manual Brightness Control Stuck

This is an odd problem for me. I really love the Lux Auto-Brightness app and use it all the time but I've been having this issue that's now preventing Lux from doing it's job. Third-party app control of Screen Brightness doesn't work. If I go into the Android settings and change the brightness from there it works fine but every single Third-party app I try can't control my brightness. I can't even control the Screen Brightness from within MXPlayer anymore and that was working fine as well. I've thought maybe something is wrong with Lux but uninstalling and rebooting didn't fix anything. Does anybody have any ideas what's causing this?

I'm running rooted Stock 4.1.2 with only mod being the change of dpi to 160. I've made no other mods.

Stupid question but did you try changing the dpi back to the original setting? If so and it didn't change anything I would just do a dirty flash of stock rom. Changing dpi can screw up a lot of things.

Changing the dpi didn't help. Doing a dirty flash is an idea but I'd prefer trying something less extreme before doing that. It'd be a pain to re-setup root and things just to get brightness control fixed. At that point I'd probably just move on to a Custom ROM.

¿DPI change?

I want to change the DPI 220 would be right.? currently in 320 this may serve to improve the quality a bit?
Okay, just download a dpi changer front the market. In my opinion 220 would be to small, but whatever your preference. Having said that, this is the development section. The only thing that you should post in here is development, not questions about development, requests, or other things like that. Just for your future knowledge because some people get really irritated by posting non development in this area.
Oh by the way in the unofficial development thread in the general section there was a discussion about this and an app that worked great.

Ya that's how I do it to. I just didn't want to suggest that risk him because i get the feeling he's still learning abs didn't want him playing around in there....is easy to get a soft brick

I'm on a 240 dpi. Everything looks fine to me. Although the quick toggle looks a bit off. The lines which separate the icon. Nothing biggie.

Brightness Offset

I bought two GS5 at the same time. One of the phones has the offset adjuster when you turn on auto brightness. The other doesn't. They are both on the same carrier and both have the same numbers in the about section.
It has an offset from -5 to +5 when auto brightness is checked.
Why would it be missing from one phone? I don't even think it works on the that it is showing up on but still want to know why they would be different.

This option only appeared for me after root.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
The phone that has it is rooted actually. That would make sense. However, the adjuster doesn't seem to do anything. I would like it to be a little brighter overall on auto brightness.

It appears after you root the phone and install wanam xposed framework. You can change that +5 -5 offsetter in Wanam xposed.
