Here is pictures of my data usage with WIFI and mobile.

As you can see in the picture I used more data on wifi but android OS were used when I was on mobile.
These are solutions I have tried.
1. Deleted Telegram
2. deactivated google photos, sync
3. Turn backup off
But still these won't solve my problems.
Right now I'm ready to do factory reset at any second. Maybe I'll try it and tell you guys what happened.

I want to upload images but...
I was trying to upload images with the link from Imgur, but XDA tells me that"To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
So let me tell you guys as specifically as much as I can:
The first image is about WIFI usage total:8.26GB, android OS: 170MB
The second image is about Mobile data usage total:2.29GB, android OS: 595GB
The bottom two images are about turned off sync from the status bar and turned off back off from settings menu.

Guys i have either definitely same problem. The version of note 5 does not matter but i think screen light sensor causes that problem just for seeming better under the sunlight more than %100 brightness. I also think that it helps us about screen appearance when we're in environment with sunlight. Can someone fix this problem and inform us by using light sensor settings?

Are you streaming YouTube from browser (esp Chrome) ?
IF yes, then the data usage is merged with Android OS for some reason.

Any streaming or flash content via browser could show up there as data consumed.
20-40mb per month could be considered OK. I use to have 886MB for Android OS and that was due to web version of Youtube. As soon as I stopped, the data usage came down to 1-2MB per day.

So you are saying that you don't use youtube app only through browser.
I see some videos during the day , i have 9Gb data every month.
But android OS drain a lot more when is in standby.
I try power saving , restrict data , after a reset , is always there.
Google services with 4g drain 3 4% and in wifi nothing, that could be a big problem but is impossible to restrict Google services in stock.

To prevent data usage, you can try AFWall+ (for rooted device) to block traffic to selected apps and services.
Maybe data is being handed over to cell data due to poor wifi connection?

One thing i did just disabled youtube and forget to put my sd card , woke up with cell standby at first 6% OS and 6% System.
I enable youtube again and test again in couple days

But this works http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/root-kingroot-4-4-4-su-6-7-t3117552
100% WORKING without root!! For data apps & app data! Seems the latest 1.1.4.0 update may have overcome many issues on our phone-contrary to the Wiki notice about Moto incompatibility.
Seems it is not ready for Lollipop w/o root, see best comment, below.
The Ultra reviews are stellar while the Moto X are not so.
I am in the middle of a 2 Hr +, 138 data apps including their data, Google drive upload.
My Maxx: 444, 21.11.12, premium version:1.1.4.0. I have a Mac, OS x Lion, though once connected w/usb debugging, a computer is not needed until the next reboot.
Why is tethering needed? From the 1st reddit link:
[–]JonnyShipsXperia Z3 D6616, TM-USA 11 points 17 days ago
The program is necessary. There's a bug that he's exploited with adb backup so that if you enter adb shell from a computer you can run adb backup from an arbitrary app.
I'm surprised Google hasn't closed it yet.
Wow! I uninstalled a few lesser used apps after the long BU. They restored great, data too.:good::good::good:. They show up in G Drive with a check box just as in the app.
Did a PC download BU to my Mac via Chrome. All good-1.2 MB/sec!!
When doing a Chrome portal restore, you must choose to restore all or nothing. Choose browse button, select your backup.zip, wait for ALL apps to show up!--which I tested & works fine-3 app test restore.
While the Google drive/other cloud options allow "any or all", which is much better.:good::good:
Notes:
I thought portrait display mode was needed to see the buttons at bottom. Not so, a swipe up reveiles them.
Edit: It is fickle about showing them in landscape.
Check automation in Helium settings.
I do not use any encryption.
DropBox goes the same as Google Drive.
There were 7 apps that bombed out in the first UL. Helium earmarked them for a retry & they all went ok!!
For unencrypted cloud: Do not override the encryption key entry, pre-restore (or backup), screen! If you force the right selection with your finger the restore bombs out! Lol! Just let it go & the right (restore my data) is auto selected.

Seriously, scan throught the rest of the comments here for hate against the developer rather than the app - I'm sure they will hat it works, let alone even TRY it.
If you want an honest and more reliable opinion, scan through the google play reviews, or even reviews made by reliable android websites. Sure there are people too that have problems getting it to work (and some of the others are giving bad reviews for things that isn't even Heliums fault), and Koush isn't really known for a good support I give you that. But judging from reviews it seems as the majority got it to work. So much for that exception to the rule, eh?
Also Helium isn't anything more than a simple GUI to Googles own ADB backup and yes it IS sometimes unrealiable (and always was from my experience), so there is nothing about that Helium could fix.
From my test right now it does indeed seem to NOT work on Android 5.0/Lollipop (without root atleast), so I won't get my hopes up for the future of the app... unless for some reason Koushik will really maintain the app

Please post if you use it to restore or phone to phone sync, outcome & phone build etc.
Anyone use it for a full restore or the like?
Edit, I just restored, from dropbox,136 apps w/data, all good.
Damn!
No longer works on 23.3.24, the chrome / Helium app will not communicate with each other.

Chrome battery consumption

Is there a way to keep Chrome from consuming too much battery? I know apps have to consume some battery when being used, but not twice the amount of screen! This stays consistent throughout a normal drain period.

As far as I know Chrome is known to not be as battery friendly. Before I even switched to Firefox, and it used much less battery. But there is just something about Chrome that I love, so I'm stuck with it. My best suggestion is try other browsers and see how they fit your needs.

hi,
just a quick question. In Chrome browser settings... have you enabled "data saver"? *I am sure it helps a bit (don't think to much.. but sure it must help)
My thinking ( might be wrong )
The less data ..the less power/battery etc ..no ?
See screenshots
Good luck

hi,
i have been thinking about your issue re Chrome.. battery use etc.
i personally alternate between Chrome and Firefox. Why don't you compare battery usage between the two.?
My personal choice is Chrome, but for me Chrome has always been "heavy".. eg ram usage etc. I am a medium user and so far Chrome has not worried me... re battery. (Like in your your case )
On the other hand I am sure it will heavy on battery, if you use it a lot.?
Alternative, tried clearing Chrome data and cache.. might help?
Bottom line,
i use Chrome on my laptop with Win 10. Chrome (stable versions) but it freezes, from time to time.! so i cannot use cetain of my banking software eg Rapport. Yet, Chrome beta i have no problems.!,no freezes, but cannot use any of my banking software! . So yeah, Chrome has it issues.and frustrations.
Good luck

Simple solution: Disable chrome! Download Chrome Beta which is better than normal Chrome and put to always optimize in battery settings or Greenify it! Solved!

Stamina cause extra background data consumption.

Hi All,
I have a X performance recently and find a problem when I turn on the Stamina Mode. I find that onec I start the SM, the battery consumption screen will show that Android OS also use most of the battery (even more than the screen). Then I click into the Android OS, it show be that it has a lot of "mobile packets sent". From the picture I upload, it is form morning 07:30am to 12:45pm. It sent 110050 packets out. Then I check the data usage page, it stat the Android OS use up 133MB starting from my last factroy reset on 28th July.

Actually I tried many things before I post here. Like closing all google backup, location setting, syn etc... But it still the same. Even when I hard reset the XP and just put the googld account back (without syn anything). It will still the same problem. Every time when I start the SM mode, the Android OS will sent a lot of packets. But turn off the SM, it will return to normal.
What's wrong with the device? Anyone have the same issue? I google it before but seems no one have the same problem.
Thanks a lot!!

I excluded the whatsapp only manually. Others like google apps, google play services, Xperia keyboard and xperia transfer mobile are selected to be excluded by system.
What kind of apps you have been exclude? Hope you can share with me.

Apart from those important ones that you've quoted nothing extra its the first time I've had a Xperia and not used stamina mode at all. I can see why it was left out of the mm update originally it's nothing like it used to be to be honest. But anything you want to work in the background while stamina on check it and add it the optimized list.

Finally I take the phone to Sony Mobile to repair. First they said they flash the rom. But fail...Second they change the motherboard to me but also fail....Even I did not install any apps but still have the same problem when I turn on Stamina. I tested in battery optimization setting, I clicked all the apps to be work in the background while stamina. It still happen...the Android OS still use up the most of the battery.
Just want to know in what kind of situation, the stamina mode will drive the Android OS to send out a lot of data. I install the data monitor apps and it just stay it is the Kernel use the data a lot.
What should I do now:crying::crying::crying:
Hi Dillson Lung,
Me too my XP also suffer the same problem. Once I turn on SM, it will consume a lot of background data by Andriod OS.

oneplus 3t kills background apps with high cpu usage

Some of you probably heard of the oneplus 3 killing background apps after they hit a certain number (12)
this isn't the case anymore with our 3t and nougat (the limit is 32 now), but what I noticed was that the stock rom kills bg apps now that use "too much" cpu, which definitely is not what I want.
It even kills the app's instead of cleanly letting them shut themselves down, leading to data loss on my side
I basically sometimes let MozStumbler (app's name) run in the background which uses quite some GPS and cpu time and I know that and willingly want to drain a bit of battery life for that
the 3t has enough anyways
but it doesn't let me:

as you can see in the log
bgdetect (whatever it is) seems to be killing the app
disabling strict standby for the app in the battery saving options doesn't fix it
it seems like the oneplus 3 already had the "issue":
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...lling-legitimate-background-processes.454330/
it would be amazing if somebody with enough knowledge and the same motivation as me could take a look at it
Regards,

Maybe this settings is killing the app to make sure that the phone doesn't heat up

have you got an answer to your support ticket, yet?
Hi, I've gotten a lot of answers, beginning with resetting phone over flashing back to marshmallow but nothing helpful with Android 7. They told me that they were working on a patch. Let's wait for the next OTA.
I've contacted the OnePlus support via forum and via support tickets about that, but they are as incompetent as possible. The OxygenOS is violating Android policies and the support is telling me that this a the normal use case. For me it was my first and only device from OnePlus.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oxygenos-4-bgdetect-is-killing-background-processes.503627/
What will be the next? Device will switch off completely to save battery after some minutes in idle?
I'm saying good bye to OnePlus...

Foreground service notifications in Android are there for a reason. If they forcibly close such services with BgDetect and claim it's normal they are just a bunch of incompetent ignorants.

To be fair, your bug report says BgDetect is killing background processes, which I can understand it would do by design, when the real problem is that it silently kills foreground services as well.
I'm currently working on a project with a service that collects data from an external device, performs a number of calculations on that data, and then passes the results forward to a game running in the foreground. That means that, yes, that service is using up quite a few CPU cycles, but that's kind of the point. It doesn't mean that it should be killed off just like that, which is why I made it to run as a foreground service. But apparently OxygenOS begs to differ.
Fortunately, this project is targeted to run on a Samsung Galaxy S7, or maybe a Google Pixel, and I'm only running it on a OnePlus 3T for testing and debugging purposes. It just makes testing a bit annoying, plus I just spent half a day chasing a red herring.

Hey mate
You meant this?
I'm not sure
There is option to close high cpu usage apps like FB .Essemger, you can turn that off.
Mostly it gives notification about high cpu usages first and then when you click on it, it automatically closes from the next time onwards.

I did never receive such a notification, and it keeps closing apps every day but unpredictable. Sometimes apps don't run even 5 min in background and sometimes they stay for 12 hours. That includes PoGo, Firefox and my geocaching-app (I rarely use any other apps except a chat app). Often I also miss notifications from discord, so probably some more services are killed. I'm pretty sure it even crashed my geocache-database, a thing which did not happen in 3 1/2 year with my old device.
I got my device 4 weeks ago and would like to get rid of it already. As said above by somebody else, my first and last device from Oneplus.
For people looking for answer, under Settings/Battery/Battery optimization, there is list of apps and you can decide whether to optimize selected app or not. Optimize seems to be default and it means "restrict app running on background"
This has nothing to do with Battery optimizations GeoMV. This is not an Android setting, but an OnePlus feature to save battery.
A real soloution is a new firmware, e.g. LineageOS. This is working since almost a year without any issues.

I'd always like to go stock but with so many inconveniences built into Samsung's stock apps, you have to look for alternatives...I was so looking forward to using Samsung pass but since there's no option to import from google passwords, I dropped it...

In what way is Samsung's browser the "best"? I'd like to know this before I take the leap of faith and ditch chrome/ edge/ firefox...

I have been checking out Bitwarden but somehow the app doesn't work well with Samsung internet..I have tried all known settings...Is it working seamlessly for you? If so, how?

How is it not working? I occasionally have to search for a password in the app, but once I fill and save it usually auto populates.
Yes, I tried to but the app doesn't auto populate in Samsung's internet..Is there any specific setting in Bitwarden?
Today's battery life.
I always have my doubts on these SoT, 9 hours of on time doing what and on what settings?
I don't think my battery is that bad, exynos wqhd and adaptive refresh rate I reckon lowering to 60fps could eek out another hour or so
I used to get around 7 hours prior to the march update, getting 9+ now. And that's with ONLY the standard Adaptive Battery setting enabled. I've disabled "Put apps to sleep" setting and all that junk. No other battery or power saving measures enabled.
WQHD + Adaptive refresh rate. BT, NFCand wi-fi always on. Mobile network on 4G auto.
