Hey XDA sages,
I was eager to try the new move option for apps on 6.0.1 on NP, so I used the factory images released by google to flash. It went mostly smoothly, after I found a proper fastbooot file for MacOS. until the system file. after trying to flash several times using a different USB port, I relented and booted the device, only to be surprised tht my about page shows 6.0.1 now I'm unsure whether I was already updated to 6.0.1 OTA, but that's unlikely, given that I have my device bootloader unlocked. the error I get on Mac terminla is :
sending 'system' (965648 KB)...
ERROR: usb_write failed with status e00002ed
FAILED (data transfer failure (No such file or directory))
finished. total time: 15.308s
any ideas what is going on? is there a possibility that NP already received OTA and I was just trying to reflash and thus failed?
your help is greatly appreciated

This should go on general/QA.
Unlock your bootloader, thats the only issue.

You must be using the flash all script? Try individual files using fastboot in the SDK.

I thought my bootloader is unlocked. on Google splash screen, it shows that open lock icon.
Try a newer fast boot and unzip the whole package from here. https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/fugu-mmb29m-factory-711f7996.tgz also there is a zip inside that needs to be unzipped. Place all files inside your fast boot root folder on your Mac and individually fasboot flash recovery recovery.zip, bootloader bootloader.zip, system system.zip, and so forth.

I have FUGU 2.11 bootloader, at the bottom it says Lock state - unlocked, and I don't know how to get newer version of fastboot. are there many versions?
Download the newest SDK from here for Mac and update everything in the manager were you put the folder at and then drop all your images in that fast boot folder and run the correct commands for each IMG.

Just saying.... Even with an unlocked boot loader, ota will still occur automatically. And you didn't need to try flashing the 6.0.1 image for the new androidTV launcher features.... You could have just side loaded the new launcher .apk (that is where the launcher features come from)
Irrelevant at this point for you I guess.... But just sharing the info.
Good luck in getting everything working again
thanks for all your help, I went ahead and factory reset the device just to make sure I am working on a clean install, since I noticed I was unable to sign in with my second gmail account. is that a bug or has multi account not yet supported on NP?

It seems Nexus S is still stuck on the old Gingerbread sound set.. this was annoying enough to release these zips that replace the annoyingly old sounds with the latest and greatest.
Here are recovery zips that removes the current /system/media/audio folder and installs the one from the Galaxy Nexus.

These are the 100% unmodified sounds from galaxy nexus. Some of them were made to be less annoying by Google that's all (eg screen press ticks).

Confirmed working on aosp's port (oICS).
Who knows, maybe someone can go through and edit the screen press and keyboard sounds and make them a bit louder.

It is a unsigned zip so you need clockwork mod recovery.
But don't worry you can USB boot it via "fastboot boot " (of course with the cwm image in same folder as fastboot or fast boot in path).

So here is the deal. I used the recovery provided here. And use adb to flash your zip. But apparently (even if I got a good feedbacks and everytinhg went right on the process) they don't apply. It seems like I still got the GB.

Interesting.. should flash with CWM since i'm on that exact version and it was working for me at time of posting. There is one other thing to try... I got a pre-rooted with gnexus sounds and hsdpa systemui that may work as well.

Ok, my actual ICS is the one from here (google server I guess).
But maybe I'm doing it the wrong way. IDK.
here is how it goes:
in cmd windows prompt
c:\Android\android-sdk\tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
blablabla device
OK
c:\Android\android-sdk\tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery5020.img
sending 'recovery' <4136KB>
OKAY [ 0.546s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [0.515s]
finished. total time: 1.061s
OK
into bootlader I choose recovery then press power :
boot into recovery 5.0.2.0.
- wipe Dalvik/cache
- install zip from SD Card
- choose a zip to apply
gnex-sounds.zip (renamed your zip)
then reply:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Updating system sounds...
Deleting current sound set...
Installing Galaxy Nexus sound set...
Install from sdcard complete.
- ***** go back *****
- reboot system now.
... Then on the phone in settings audio I still got my current sound set (set up earlier).
but I can also do it the old ways (extract sounds from your zip and replace the set in the ics.zip I'll flash over...).
But I got to find out what's wrong. In the ICS Official release thread we were talking about apparently you can flash the recovery permanently isn't it ? Mine is not accessible the next try I made (ADB/USB out) mean I get back to the stock recovery (with the poor green droid down, belly opened ! lol).
Another (secondary) question : what's wrong with superuser ? My apps can't be allowed since apparently my phone is not recognized as rooted ! (Just to ensure I've performed a "fastboot oem unlock" but the reply was explicit : "already unlocked !". I don't get it right here...

1. Odd that the sounds wont flash
2. ChainsDD updated Superuser/su for 4.0.3
3. yep a file in stock rom rewrites stock recovery at bootup
Over all if you give my custom rooted 4.0.3 stock a shot that would solve the sounds issue, wouldnt rewrite recovery on boot, has working root and as bonus has H icon.
I personally went that method cause it got me best of all options in one flash

Any help with downgrading dev. edition verizon from _signed files in this firmware back to regular?
Fastboot just denies flash attempts with "downgraded security version" error.
Having same problems with boot.img, system.img but solved it with TWRP terminal by deleting and creating these partition again.
Bootloader is unlocked.
The only file that can't be flashed now is partition_signed (gpt_main0.bin in VZ firmware).
not sure what you're getting at, these files are for Australian XT905 version (and we use GSM) not your US Verizon XT907 (using CDMA)
Worked awesomely! Now on JB. Used fastboot to flash.
Only the root method mentioned by cuzzo in this post works:

This method was easiest and worked... Didn't get motofail to work and it's painful to get it prepared.

Hi,
Firstly, many thanks to Pzyduck and the Firmware Team for releasing these original RAZR M images! :good:
I've successfully flashed the Telstra full image to my RAZR M (xt905). I'd like to make a couple of comments about how I did it, in case it helps someone out there.
I extracted the zip file 9.8.2Q_SMUIRD-7_SEMEAUnlk_USAXT90501TLSTRAE1019.0R_SMJBLTEAUTEL_P008_A014_1FF_fb.xml.zip then ran flash_fastboot.bat. It gave me several errors and did not work.
This error occurred many times:
Code:
(bootloader) Variable not supported!
Then the modem failed to flash:
Code:
fastboot flash modem modem_signed
(bootloader) Variable not supported!
target reported max download size of 31457280 bytes
Invalid sparse file format at header magi
sending sparse 'modem' (28088 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.168s]
writing 'modem'...

finished. total time: 3.260s
I then saw this article talking about using RSD Lite 6.1.4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2022118
It contains a dead link to RSD Lite 6.1.4, but here's another copy: http://www.4shared.com/rar/mvyan3Kh/RSDLite_614.htm
I installed it and in the RSD Lite window, pointed Filename to 9.8.2Q_SMUIRD-7_SEMEAUnlk_USAXT90501TLSTRAE1019.0R_SMJBLTEAUTEL_P008_A014_1FF_fb.xml.zip. When I clicked Decompress And Start Flashing, RSD Lite gave this error:
Code:
Error!!!!!
Failed to create 9.8.2Q_SMUIRD-7_SEMEAUnlk_USAXT90501TLSTRAE1019.0R_SMJBLTEAUTEL_P008_A014_1FF_f
Please check if the file path is too long to create or if there is enough free disk
Guessing that the filename was indeed too long, I manually extracted the zip file to a folder called tel, then re-zipped the tel folder to a file called tel.zip. Then in RSD Lite, I pointed Filename to tel.zip. This time when I clicked Decompress And Start Flashing, RSD Lite was able to decompress the file but gave this error:
Code:
Failed flashing process. Unknown fastboot command. (getvar)
To get around the getvar error, I found this article: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943884
I extracted my tel.zip file I created above, edited the file 9.8.2Q_SMUIRD-7_SEMEAUnlk_USAXT90501TLSTRAE1019.0R_SMJBLTEAUTEL_P008_A014_1FF_fb.xml and removed the 2 lines containing getvar:
line 11:
Code:
<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
line 20:
Code:
<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
I then re-zipped tel.zip containing the edited xml file, and tried again... and the damn thing finally worked!!! RSD Lite flashed all the image files, then rebooted the phone (it actually rebooted twice: just before flashin the modem image, then after erasing the cache). The phone then went through a first-time setup asking questions about language settings, whether you use gmail or not, etc.
I've never been a fan of Apple, but I can't say that I'm a fan of Android either. Everything I tried had a failure and I had to research almost every single step. I'm starting to think that life's too short to mess around with Android. I shudder to think what a mess I'd be in with my bricked phone if I wasn't technically inclined.
But I guess it served me right for playing around with flashing my phone in the first place...

Hey kolya, I too used the flash_fastboot.bat and it ran like a dream...no errors at all from what I could see (though I did walk away from my machine). Could not get RSDLITE to recognise my phone so fastboot (which I prefer anyway) worked a treat.
It really should not have been that difficult, but then again I can only speak for my experience on my Unlocked, rooted Razr M.

Yeah, I agree, it should have been a lot easier! But then again, I was going from Verizon's image to Telstra's image. I did do a factory wipe beforehand, but possibly there were other things left over from Verizon's rom that broke the batch file. At any rate, it's good to know that there's more than one way to get there! Cheers.
Can anyone please explain how to install this update package step by step? I really couldn't understand
just run the bat file if you've got a stock, unlocked Telstra XT905 as per pjcon

Good for you. What I said still stands: these files are MEANT for aussie XT905 not US XT907.
What you want to do with XT907 or whether it has a GSM radio as well (which I know it does, but good luck with LTE... lol) is irrelevant, the files are for the stock Telstra build for XT905.

Ok:
1) put phone in bootloader mode (power off, hold vol down and press power button)
2) unzip the package (may have to extract to a different folder name as the one provided is very long)
3) put a fastboot.exe file into the folder where the flash_fastboot.bat file is
4) plug phone into usb
5) run flash_fastboot.bat
Everything will magically start... Let it run till says complete then power off and switch back on... Welcome to JB!

I'm currently rooted and am running only Xposed Mods with a few root apps. How can I unroot my phone and get the stock recovery back onto my Moto X so that I can take OTA's again without wiping all of my data? What files do I need to download/flash and how do I do it? I've searched around, but it just got me even more confused.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that flashing the stock system will remove all the changes you've made with root/xposed modules, and flashing the stock recovery should essentially get rid of root (I think).
I don't know precisely where to get all the files, but if you find them around, you can push them using ADB.
If you're like me and are okay with losing everything on the phone, go ahead and use RSDLite (it requires ADB). It's easy-ish to use, and there's even a video tutorial that covers everything after installation of all the files.
You need to use fastboot to push system.img and recovery.img from the version of the OS you're currently running. See here for a list of OS images:

Thanks for the info and links. I'm currently downloading the OS that I'm currently running (VZW OTA update in my case), but I have one question: How do I use fastboot? When I double click that .exe nothing happens.

You need to install the Android SDK and the platform tools, then boot your phone into fastboot mode. You need to run a command line to flash the IMGs. It's explained in the links.

I was under the impression that we cannot do a factory reset or we won't get the soak test OTA pushed to our phones. That's what the soak test post said atleast. Something along the lines of "DO NOT FACTORY RESET or you will not receive the OTA"... don't want to quote it directly since I'm under an NDA, but it was something like that. Did I misunderstand? If I use the Moto X toolkit or RSDLite to revert back to stock is that different than a factory reset?

I've got the Android SDK install and ADB is setup. I'm pretty familiar with ADB. I moved the motorola fastboot.exe into platform-tools and I know how to put the phone into fastboot mode. What I don't understand is what I need to do once I've got the system.img file and the recovery.img file. I'm still reading all of the links so I might not have gotten to the part where it explains what to do, so forgive me for that.

Right from my third link:
Next, you need to put the phone into "fastboot mode" as described above, also make sure usb debugging is enabled in the developer menu settings. Then download the FW for your phone found (follow what i said in regards to the other persons post below), then unzip that, put the system and recovery image in the same directory that your fastboot and adb is in, then run these commands from the cmd prompt
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then your done, you can type
fastboot reboot

Yep, just got to that part lol. Having some trouble downloading the VZW file. My current download just stopped with a network error and the website that is hosting the files keeps saying service unavailable and to contact the website administrator. Weird. I'm blaming it on my college's ****ty wireless network.
Edit: Yup, for some reason the wifi at the school decided it need me to input my credentials to re-login for the 6th time today to verify who I am and allow me internet access.
Edit 2: The things I'd do to have a stable connection... Once again, the download failed halfway through because the damn connection at this college sucks. This is infuriating.

Is there anyway you (or someone else) could upload the VZW OTA update file to Google Drive or Dropbox for me? This download is going way to slow to the point where I can't even finish it before my connection craps out. Or can you (or someone else) just upload the system.img and recovery.img files for me?

Thanks man. You don't even know how much I appreciate this.
Which one of the two is the camera update for vzw?
Where do you get stock recovery?
EDIT: Sorry, Nevermind. I probably extract it from the zip.

I have been rooted for a few months now and need to get a replacement phone from vzw. I have been searching for the better part of 2 days on how to completly unroot my nexus 6. i used the method used in "[HOW-TO] The Nexus 6 All-In-One Beginner's Guide By xBeerdroiDx" to root it. Which installed TWRP, with any other phone ive rooted i could just go to SuperSU and click full unroot and it would do it. That is not the case now. Can i get a step by step directions from someone on how to unroot my phone please.
Thanks in advance.

sure.. get the factory image from the google site, download it to your computer, unzip it, then flash each part of it individually via fastboot while youre in your bootloader. thats the only real way to "unroot" a device.every othet way removes root but keeps the changed files. so they think that youre still rooted.

nope, thats it. but, to finish, you want to make sure that you will boot first, then youll have to relock your bootloader at the very end

if you want the phone clean, you will need to use -w command in fastboot to wipe all the data also.

ive never wiped before flashing a factory image(i assumed it does it automatically before flashing each partition), but that can be a good idea as well :good:

-w only wipes the data partition as far as i know.
i havent dissected the files for this phone, but all past device img's i have, has a wiping command of some sort in there somewhere.
its usually something like "erase userdata" or similar.
the files are .tar and .tgz my computer wont recognize them am i doing something wrong?

you need fastboot(and adb for other things). you can get that from google or you can search google for a smaller download. its in the sdk( i believe), but that download is huge. i installed a fastboot for dummies version a few years back, with adb as well, and ot turned out to be only 35mb.

Hi,
i'm trying since 2 days to fix my phone, because i accidently deleted the backup from the SD Card, after falsly assuming it was the old one. What i got is a bootloop after trying to install DragonROM_Minimalist-1.2.9 via PhilzTouch recovery mode. I did the Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe delvik cache and clean for new rom before installing the zip. I have a rooted Kernel and Bootloader unlocked. I simply restarted the Phone after installing that ROM and it is stuck in bootloop.
I'm running a x64 HTC Desire 510 bought from Tesco and i have Windows 10 (also got Ubuntu installed on another partition, if that somehow helps)
I tried those RUU Files, but the Programm just keeps closing and nothing happens. (I have all vcredist packages installed)
I tried to download the kernel zip from the htc download site and apply it via fastboot flash zip, but that was a big fail to.
I tried unpacking the ROM from the RUU Programm and installing that via Flash zip, which gave me "FAILED (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail)"
I tried to place (several different) 0PCVIMG.zip on the SD Card and rebooting to HBOOT, which gave an error that was to large for the screen
I found a total of about 4 Errors durings fastboot flash zip, such as remote 99, remote 42, etc...
I really don't know what to do now.. Anyone help?
It doesn't necessarily has to be to stock version, it would be perfect, if that ROM would work..

Every single one of those RUUs you mentioned AND ROMs are ALL 32 BIT!!
There IS a ROM somewhere on the forums that another user uploaded to help those on 64 bit at least get BACK to STOCK but you need to learn how to use the search bar to type HTC Desire 510 Stock E.U ROM.
