Hi,
I cannot find Play Store Services among installed apps on my Galaxy Ace. Its already installed in the phone. Other apps doesn't work without Play Store Services. This happened after relinking application files using link2sd. Is there anyway to fix this problem? Please help.

I couldn't Install Play Store Services from Play Store. It was showing as "already installed". So I downloaded an apk file of Play Store Services and installed. That didn't work. Then I tried factory resetting. That didn't work too. I was not able to login to my google account. There were 2 google settings icon in the app drawer too. I suppose it happened because I tried to install the apk file.
Then I did format system and reinstalled my OS. Now my phone is working fine.

Good thing the problem is solved and Play Services are working again
Hello,
I have a Kindle Fire HD 7” from 2012 using Android 7.5.1. After lots of troubles with the ADB drivers I finally got it rooted. Now I’m ready to do cool stuff! The problem is that most things don’t work.
FYI I hace ES Explorer with Root explorer ON and ROM Toolbox Lite.
I would be grateful if you could help me in these issues:
Issue 1: Google play services has stopped working.
Back in 2012 I installed all the google apks following instructions from one of the threads in the forum. Some time ago I started to get the message “Google play services has stopped working”. That’s when I rooted the kindle.
Once rooted, I uninstalled all, downloaded again all apk and reinstalled with google play services version 7.0.99. Same results. Reading forums, sites, watching videos, I tried many ways. I even created the folder and dummy apks i read about in a thread in this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...google-play-services-7-3-28-stopping-t3086528). Still no results. The services dont’ update, I still have 7.0.99 but still does not work. I suspect it is some issue related to the android version... I don’t know...
Issue 2: Custom Launcher
I’m sick of the lame amazon launcher, I tried to install a custom launcher (downloading the apk from apk downloades site). I install the apk but the open button is greyed and I can’t open it. Also, It does not appear on my app library. I tried with Go Launcher EX, hola Launcher, Nova launcher... All the same. I can see them in the app manager (in Settings) so they are installed. I also read threads about this issue and tried moving the apk from /data/app to system/app but even with root explorer ON and RW permission enabled in /system, ES explorer can’t paste the apk there.
So, even I have the most Ironclad version of android or I am useless ant this. Can anybody help me please?
so i'll try my best to help you out on this.
Issue 1: i believe that for whatever, google play and amazon just don't work well even with root, when i rooted my kindle first time i got the google play store but eventually got the same thing you did the whole "google play services has stopped working". So i had to uninstall all of google play and then reinstall to where i just had the android market(If you don't know the market is it's just like a downgraded google play store) but for whatever reasons, it agrees with amazon more then the actual google play store and doesn't crash any.
In short your solution for issue 1 is either uninstall all of google play and only install what you need to have the android market, or go about using a custom rom, like the official cyanogenmod rom, or the unofficial Omnirom and Candy5 rom, as i've never had any sort of google play store trouble with any of those, excluding candy5 as i'm currently flashing that as i type this to try it out.
Issue 2: So this could be one of 2 things.
First off, after you installed the apks, did you reboot your kindle? Yea it's really simple but if you don't reboot the apks don't intialize which could be why you can't access them in the app library. Secondly, i read somewhere on one of the XDA threads about one of Amazons OTA updates making it difficult to install customs launchers, i had a lot of trouble with go launcher ex which is mainly why i finally decided to just flash a custom rom.
In short your solution for issue 2 is to try installing the apks, and then reboot the kindle, see if that maybe initializes them. Or it could be Amazon just locking down harder on its device, which if it is that, you could probaly find some sort of work around, but you'd probably be better off with a custom rom, although if you're a fan of the kindles stock set up try Kinology.
Hope i've helped!

Hello, my name is Rob and I'm new to XDA but I've used your forums before to help me root my Coolpad and this new phone (kudos)
So I bought this phone a little over a month ago and I've been super severely disappointed in it.
I'll just start off quickly by telling you a little behind my purchase...
I needed to upgrade from the Coolpad 3G that I had been using for months with Sprint's pre-paid and I was planning on getting a Samsung Galaxy.
Well they had to run my credit and I couldn't put down the $200+ deposit they wanted for the S5. So the guy brought up this HTC Desire that was on sale for $99.99 or whatever, without and research or anything I went ahead and bought it because I desperately needed a new phone with 4G capability for my new job... the sales guy sold me on it having 8 GB internal storage (Which was a huge lie... thanks, man), 1 GB of RAM, a solid quadcore processor and a decent camera.
I immediately got home and realized that there was only barely 1 Gigabyte of free storage and I about threw a fit but I knew I needed the phone so I kept it and I took the next step, (Rooting it so I could install and run link2SD)
So I went through the long, tedious process of rooting my phone and putting TWRP, superuser, etc. on it and got my link2SD going.
The day after I finished rooting my phone these errors started popping up and telling me that I had an update I needed to install and download:
(I guess I can't post the pictures I want to post on here until I make 10 posts? so I uploaded screencaps all to this directory)
http :// skakills.com /HTC/
It made it so I can't even use my Gmail or my hangouts app on the phone (Gmail being the most important) this is seriously distressing.
also , this update pops up every few hours and I have tried to install it but it just bounces me back to the recovery TWRP screen and I can't seem to figure it out.
I work a double shift at work every day, I play in 2 bands and I've scoured the internet, forums and lost tons of sleep over this, I just want to be able to use this phone for a few more months without these issues, if anyone has any kind of idea what I can do to fix the errors and get my updates installed or if there is a better option (I'm okay with wiping / resetting since my apps and pictures are all backed up) let me know ASAP, please and thank you very much!

Download an app killer/disabler of your choice (I use Titanium Backup but it's the paid version) after you install it look through all the apps on your phone and find this one "updater" and freeze/disable it and then reboot the updating will stop and the reason you can't install it is because the phone is no longer stock and you unlocked the bootloader.
Regarding the play store problem open internet and search for the latest version of play store and then download the version via internet by searching for the version to download like this Google Play version 5.8.8 APK Download and after downloading the APK install it and reboot into twrp and clear the dalvic cache and cache reboot and the problem should be gone.

I really appreciate the help as far as that update thing goes.
I guess I didn't explain the part with the GMail and the hangout apps.. it is only those apps that are affected, I guess I will try uninstalling the gmail and hangout apps again because I try to launch them but it gives the "Unknown issue with Google Play Services" error and then force closes.
Also every once in a while it is giving me a weird 'Google Music' error .
I will try to freeze that update thing with Titanium backup (I have the full version I got on my old phone I just haven't installed it on here yet)
Once again, thanks a lot I really appreciate the quick response and I hope to check more of the forums out soon.

Well if you fix the Google play store error you'll be able to update your Gmail and Hangouts apps.. I fixed them before by first fixing the play store problem. Go into twrp and select wipe and choose cache and dalvic because it will help.

Okay so I froze the 'Updater' app, rebooted and I think that it has stopped which is good.
I still am getting this Google Play Services Error every few minutes, I downloaded the Google Play .apk , installed it, rebooted into recovery and cleared the dalv and regular cache but I'm still seeing this error come up... I even tried to disable Google Play Services notifications and just accept that it won't ever go away but it is still happening. I'm still not sure of the actual cause of these errors, at least I can use GMail and Hangouts now because I just restored the factory versions.

If I were you, I'd download the entire gapps package (google apps) it's between 150 and 250MB in size and it's a zip so you can install it via recovery I'm pretty sure your problem will go away if you get the updated gapps for your phone.

Yes there is a site but no entire Google apps package is an apk it's in zip format and all you need to do is download it to your sd card and then boot into recovery and tap install then navigate to wherever you saved the download to and tap to select it for installation and after the install go back to the home page and select wipe and then on the next window select dalvic and cache then swipe the bottom to wipe them both and then reboot and you should be good to go.. Here's the package
In this package you will find the core Google system base, off-line speech files, Google Play Store, FaceUnlock, Google Bookmarks Sync, and the following Play Store applications:
Google + | Google Calendar (replaces stock/AOSP Calendar) | Google Now Launcher | Google Play services | Google Search | Google Text-to-Speech | Gmail | Hangouts | Maps | Street View on Google Maps | YouTube

What rom and kernel do you happen to be using? Try this too though tap settings then apps and look for the Play Store and tap into it and then force close it and then scroll down and delete the data and when it says all user accounts will be deleted or whatever just say yes and then go back to your home and reopen the Play Store and try to use it again after it logs your account back in.
Edit: Do you see Google play services in your app list? Uninstall the update if it says to uninstall update on it and then update it again then try to use stuff.

You should try pattiboi new kernel that he put up yesterday because it's pretty smooth running and my phone is much better than it was before.. Did you uninstall updates to the Play services and try to update it again?
Edit:
Do you have titanium backup? If so I need you to download this version of Google play services and install it but first use titanium backup to fully uninstall the Google play services that's on your phone.. Here's the link for the Google play services version 8.1.15 make sure you don't tap the one that says get it on Google play store because obviously you can't use the Play Store so tap the one next to it, it looks like this "d Download" after you downloaded it install it and reboot your phone...

You should try fixing your problem before going to the other kernel.
All you need to do is delete Google play services in Titanium Backup and then download the one I gave you and install and then reboot.
Tried asking this in the newbie Q&A, but no response.
I have updated my Fire 2015 tablets with the custom ROM CM12 (from 5.01). My sincere gratitude to GGOW and those involved.
The problem arises when I try to sign-in to my game (Clash of Clans). It states I requires an update to Google Play Games. The tablet downloads the update but then returns the message: Can’t Install App.
I have installed supersu# and according to Root Check the tablet is currently rooted. Per suggestions I found in this forum, I tried to install an older version of Google Play services using the apk from APK Mirror. I downloaded it to the SD card and tried to use the CM FileManager to run. I granted all the permissions it asks for but it states “App not installed”. The same occurred when I tried to install Google Calendar. It seems that other non-Google apps install just fine.
I am admittedly very new to the Android scene (we all have to start somewhere). Is there some method I can use to uninstall the version of Google Play services on my tablet and reinstall? I appreciate any suggestions.
I ran into a problem when i didn't have Google play games installed, trying to install play games from the play store would result in a fail so i installed an older version , try searching "com.google.android.play.games-2.2.09" they should be dated 28 Jan 2015 they should then update from the play store fine, it seems there's a couple of apps that we have to install older versions first but they update ok.
I have downloaded Google Play Games from an apkmirror and problem solved

Best solution
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-games/
Google Play Games 3.5.17 (2463965-070) (x86) (nodpi)
Download the APK
put in a folder call it "GooglePlayGames" or whatever you want
Copy it to system/app/
Change permissions to one match of the other system apps so they are the same permissions on the folder and apk
Reboot and google play games will be installed

Thanks Ownster i was looking for that
Thank you Ownster! It worked perfectly - still not fully sure why - but I am very appreciative.
So I flashed my G7 Plus with the latest Lineage, 17.1 I think with no GAPPS. Great ! The only thing I don't have is speech to text so to get this I have to install the Google App. Tried a few of the latest version which I downloaded from apkpure.com becaue not a fan of the playstore. I keep getting an error saying "Google keeps stopping". and it does ! I've cleared caches and all that, but it just seems I'm probably missing some other required package or that it wants some permissions I haven't granted but I have granted all the network perms temporarily as well as mic and storage access. Still get the error. Has anyone else come acrsoss this and know how to solve it ? Or maybe you have to log in to a google account at least once before it will work ?
I'm no expert but could it be that you need google play services to run an app like that?
If that's the case, I guess I'll do without voice to txt. The whole idea here is to keep google spying off my phone.
Use a rom that has google installed and do a back up of the google apps u want to bring to los17 with an app called migrate.... After u install the los17 flash the migrate back up...it will delete the GSF file from the google apps so they can run without google play services

You need the Google play services. And if you want it to work, flash gapps
