One of the first things I noticed about the NC was a faint grid of dots under the screen before turning it on. I also see a faint line making up the grid. Im guessing this is "normal" since its part of the screen. I never noticed this on other devices though. I dont notice it when the screen in on though.
I have noticed this too. It shows if you turn off the screen and look at it at an angle under light.
That is the touchscreen sensor, and is there on every capacitive device (whether or not you have noticed before is another thing)..
Hi,
Has anyone notciced un-even brightness across the screen at low light levels (for darker colors)? I thought it was just the nature of these OLED screens, but I don't see this with Galaxy Phone with similar display type, so I'm wondering if I just have a defective unit with bad display.
To test it:
- Do this at night (when ambient light is fairly low).
- Lower brightness down to the lowest setting (turn off auto-brightness)
- Open Chrome browser, and close all tabs, so that you get a blank dark screen with just the "+" icon. This leaves a dark gray background, just enough to notice if there is any uneveness in brightness.
On my unit, I see about 3-4 inches of bands/streaks of darker areas at bottom half of the screen. If I rotate the tablet, the darker areas stay in their physical location (so these bands become vertical instead of horizontal), so I know it's not a software issue.
I have a couple of weeks left before I need to decide on whether to exchange the tab, so would appreciate if anyone can help me verify if this is normal thing with these screens.
Many thanks, Tony.

I have notice a similar thing, mostly on gray - dark gray backgrounds, and not necessarily at lowest brightness (low enough though). I wanted to check about it on a couple of devices on display at retail stores but it's hard to test there.

Hi tonyc1,
Having had 4 of these I can confirm that this unevenness is normal on the 9.7" screen but was not present on the 8" model.
I went through 4 to get one that was reasonably even, 2 of them were pretty awful to the point that the greyscale was all over the place.
The unit I settled on has a slightly darker band in the middle of the screen and a slight darkening at the very top.
I owned the original tab s 10.5 and have to say the screen on that was more even and detailed, I prefer the former factor and speed of this S2 but the screen is a step backwards.
Hope this info helps.
Cheers
Thanks for the notes and confirming this is a somewhat common issue. I guess I will live with it for now..
Hey everyone. After having owned my Mi 5 for about 8 months, I started noticing some artifacts/dark spots on my screen. There are perfectly angular lines all around the screen, most prominent in the lower left corner (pictured in the close-up). Did anyone else ever get anything similar? Any ideas what could be wrong?
Picture was taken with a neutral 50% Background on 100% brightness. The dark spots are more obvious at lower screen brightnesses and darker colors.
Hi guys,
I'm experiencing screen bleeding issue on the left edge, with dark mode on. I'm able to notice that whenever opening Youtube app (with dark theme) specially during night time. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Typically I've heard of screen bleeding in LCD screens. Surprised to notice that on an AMOLED...
Does it have like a little slit at the left side when properly place under light? Mine has. So worried a little splash of water can go inside.
Is this screen burn or something else.
It's only visible in blue background.
And any possible solution.
Please help
Are you referencing the diagonal lines or the blemish near the center of the display? After the S7 screen burn is pretty rare.
Definitely not screenburn. I tell you what though, on my PC screen i could not see the lines at all and had to open it on my phone. Then realized that my PC screen colors have been messed up. Now i can use your image to calibrate my PC screen color settings
My issue is solved it is due to the spot on screen guard not in screen
Big relief
