Lenovo K3 Note: Internet And MMS APN Settings? - K3 Note Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trouble with my Lenovo K3 Note... Can ANYONE help me? Pleeease! Thanks in advance!
Hello, all! I am new to the site and have taken a few minutes to look around a little, and I must say... I'm super excited to get to interact with you all! I love learning new things and meeting new people who have some intelligence about them. I love phones [Android, of course!], and just about anything technical, however, I am new to all of the developers stuff but sooo looking forward to learning everything! I'm a quick learner and can usually so something after seeing it once, or being explained something once. Anyway, I'm sure you all are thinking "Get to the issue, woman!" (then again, you're probably not even thinking that lol). I'm here hoping and praying that I can get somewhere with my Lenovo K3 Note. I recently bought this phone form a guy who had it for about a month until his company provided him with a company phone, therefore he didn't need t any longer. I was stoked about getting the phone, it really looked like an awesome phone! Well, the guy I bought the phone from is obviously a tech guy as well because he was rooted the phone and put a stock ROM on the phone (I think I said that right?). I am with Straight Talk for my service, and while I've finally got my text message to work, no matter what I do with the APN settings (on a T-Mobile SIM), I'm not getting any internet or MMS. Can anyone help me, please?! I am sooo lost right now, and it's been two days that I've been working on this phone, hoping I can get it to work. I really, REALLY like this phone, and don't want to have to get another one. If anyone could please help me, I would be forever indebted! Seriously, I would be so grateful for any/all help! Thanks so much in advance, everyone!

I don't know that I can help you since I have no knowledge of T-Mobile or Straight Talk, but before anyone will be able to help you we need to know what ROM you are running. Go to 'Settings->About phone->Device information' and tell us what the Build number is.

try this...
The best bet would be to go to Settings>General>Backup and Reset...and tap on "Factory data reset" once.
Do this only if you have no important files/documents/picture on your phone memory.
Go to Settings>Connections>More networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names and delete all the access points.
Then click on New APN and input the following for creating a new one:
Internet and Picture Messaging:
Access Point Name (APN): fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC Server: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Short Message Service (SMS)

Thank you. I hadn't realized anyone had responded to my post. The build number is VIBEUI_V2.5_1511_5.444.1_ST_K50-T5

Thank you so much for your response! I am not actually a T-Mobile customer, I am actually a Straight Talk customer, however, using a T-Mobile SIM card. I have set, reset, and reset my APN setting at least sixty-eight thousand times at this point (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a tad bit, but it seems like it's been that many times lol), but it doesn't fix anything. Hopefully, talking with all of you (people who actually possess intelligence), I will get this worked out. I am far more confident in everyone on this site versus Straight Talk customer Service! Thanks, again, for your response, it's greatly appreciated!

Yes, I have previously taken thee steps, and still a no go. It's definitely not the apn settings causing this because it shows on Straight Talks end that everything is in working order. They are sending me out a new SIM card, and going to try that. I honestly doubt that is the problem, but who knows? It's worth a try, I guess. I think it's some sort of setting or something from where the guy rooted my phone that is preventing the phone from being able to use it's data. I wish I were more educated on phone ROM's, Modems, etc... I haven't had the time to just yet, but I am most definitely going to educate myself more on this. Hopefully, I am able to figure out how to fix this, either on my own, or with help of someone from this site (which btw is freaking AWESOME!)!! Thanks, again, for your response, I greatly appreciate any/all help offered!
-Also, I am in Indianapolis, IN (USA)

Obvious suggestion: you're certain you have data turned on, right? I ask only because I find it far to easy to accidental change those toggle switches... fat fingers and touch screens are a bad combination.
Have you tried enabling data roaming? I had a phone that always thought I was roaming, so I needed to enable data roaming if I wanted data to work.

Yep! I have data enabled, however, I've accidentally bricked my phone, so I've moved on from this problem to a bigger one! lol I'm currently working on that as we speak.

Actually, I bricked my Samsung N8000 tablet too but got it working again.
Hopefully, it happens for you too.
Once its un-bricked, just download and flash the Official Stock ROM. Mine is an Indian version which is ROW (Rest Of World) ROM. Yours could be the K50-T5 and might be having a different Stock ROM.
Its better to start off with stock to fix those issues.
Merry Christmas!

What exactly are you trying to do? Maybe try to restart you G1 or reboot it. I have never had this problem at all.Maybe check with some other users.
You should change the thread title to something more informative pertaining to your proble. Most of the time, the pros on here will pass by a thread just says help because they don't feel like entering a thread just to see if they *can* help at all. Also, it might allow others who have had the same problem and fixed to easily see your problem and come to the rescue.
Back to the problem at hand. Can you use the mobile data for anything? updating weather etc? If you can't then its probably something to do with your APN settings. Who is your carrier? T-Mobile? AT&T? To check what APNs you have now, go to: Settings>Wireless Controls> Mobile Network>APNs
If it is blank, that's why you can't connect, the phone doesn't know where to connect to. Simply type your carrier into google along with G1 APN settings (ie AT&T G1 APN settings) and they should tell you the correct settings to input in order for you to access your mobile network. Good luck.
P.S. Also add more information about what's going on with your phone so that we can figure it out quicker without having to ask you for everything one-by-one. You can tell us the ROM you're using, whether this is a new problem, or something that's never worked, your wireless carrier, your SSN (just kidding), but come on, some background info could make this process infinitely faster...

opera browser still works tho. Has to have socket connection settings. Anybody find a work around or maybe we can ask the developers to help?

[Trifecta] GSM & Straight Talk (w JB)

Getting GSM (& Straight Talk) working on the Droid Bionic running Jelly Bean 4.1.
If you're here I'm sure you know now that it is possible, contridictory to all those who claim it's not because of these specs or that data sheet or press release.
Apparently it has the exact same radio / chipset as other Moto World phones it's just not for lack of a better term "unlocked".
BTW...If I was to recommend an order to do the "trifecta" in, this would be the last step. I doubt it would effect rooting. But MOST of the problems I ran into updating to JB had to do with the fact I originally did this when I was still on ICS, then it caused a bunch of probs while trying to update. Namely all of the "System 7" errors. See that thread for more.
****FIRST AND FOREMOST*****
Make copies of every file you change in their current untouched state, before editing, and if you can't, keep notes of their current values.
Also do not do this with the SIM in, it's not required for anything other than testing and getting a signal at the end.
This, from my experience, is also the cause of the "android.phone" shut down error loop.
IF you get that, shut the phone down in between hitting the "ok" button of the error loop and remove the SIM and continue. Once you finish and have reception it shouldn't return.
Follow the build.prop edits shown on the XDA thread "Bionic working on T-MO."
*You have to have root access to edit this file. I use ES File Explorer, use in "root" mode and enable R/W for everything. Whatever file explorer you use I'm sure it's similar, just look thru the settings.*
Then I saved changes & rebooted, and did the RadioComm part. Apparently this is the step that turns on / unlocks the GSM radio.
When you open RadioComm and it asks what setting to start on pick, same as chipset setting (will edit & update w exact in a minute don't have it open right now, you have to scroll about midway down the list tho.)
*If the big box in the middle right doesn't fill up with code, or totally turn green after you make the change to the first (16) numbers & save, somethings wrong and the edit didn't save. restart the steps & make sure they're right. Close RadioComm. You're done with it (...for now)
Disconnect Phone & Reboot.
After boot go to Dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* (*#*#info#*#*), should go right to a menu & pick Phone Info. go down to "set preferred network type" & pick WCDMA. back out and should be done.
People have said this won't stay set for them. Following all the instructions, I've not had a problem keeping a network set. I believe this is controlled with one of the build.prop edits. There are suggested fixes out there, if you go thru the settings and edits and you're still having a prob, try those.
In truth, mine defaults to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL), but it doesn't seem to effect my service, and I believe that will auto switch between networks which is fine with me becasue I can't get CDMA with the GSM sim anyways.
If you just want GSM, that should be it. Power down, put your SIM in and reboot. If you have AT&T or T-Mo, the APNs are already loaded and should default after phone reads SIM.
If you get "unknown SIM" dialog just click "ok". It will come up every time you reboot your phone tho so if you want to put an end to it, there's a quick build.prop edit that fixes it. Will Post exactly when I find it again.
but it's something like changing:
vzwphone=1 to
vzwphone=0 (only for ref until I get it up).
****Straight Talk (At&t SIM)
Before putting in SIM and after Preferred Network change.
go to Dialer, ##7764726 (##program) & hit "call" / phone button, enter "000000" for SPC password & "Verify".
Go down to #13 APN Controls,
then APN Config Edit.
Touch menu button on phone (4-squares) & New APN.
These are my settings & Voice, Data & MMS all work.
Name: Straight Talk AT&T

All have worked for me.
****BTW - 2 things....make sure you have Wifi turned off, & you have mobile data enabled / on. (the mobile / packet data "On" thing was the issue with my Captivate Glide not getting data & MMS and it drove me nuts, then to find out it was just a switch & bang worked great.)
I hope this helps at least someone.
Cheers.
the one issue I still kinda have....
For whatever reason I get great data speeds.
typically 4.5 - 6+ Mbps down & 1.5 - 2 up.
but my voice levels are typically high -80's to -105 dbms
which equals at best, a not steady 3 bars.
Usually only 2 bars (mid -90's dbms) and quite often the little spec of a triangle.
I've tried the RadioComm Hex edit & adding lines to the build.prop to get boost signal reception that others have said helped them. Neither have done anything for me. (found here)
Currently still have both "running".
also tried this build.prop change
vzwglobalphone=1 to
vzwglobalphone=0
still no change.
The reason this is kinda an issue for me is my daily is currently a Samsung Captivate Glide and I Consistantly am at 4+ bars and high 70's. I don't know why I shouldn't get same reception in same areas, especially because I read that Moto radios are better than Samsung ones.
I do wonder if it's because the other is a "native" GSM, but then I think that the Moto is too, it was just "turned off" before.
Again I'm not a Dev, but I do want this to be my daily, so I'm willing to try pretty much anything since I have a back-up. So if anyone who knows more than me or has found a fix that works for them, please share.
i have followed your directions to the letter but still get bootloop. can u b a lil more detailed on how to save the build.prop to prevent this
@ smutta - Do you mean the android.phone shut down error? THe only time I experienced a boot loop was when I updated to JB, and that's when I was getting the "motorola dual core" boot animation loop. The result of that in my case was the "system 7" errors I mentioned in the JB update thread. Those are a result of, lack of a better way of putting it, the checksum's not matching what the update is looking for. Any hacks / changes you've made will seem to cause it to error out and the boot loop. Please check that thread too.
good luck.

Thank you i got it working and with a few roms also
@MoodSwinger
I am very new to this whole hack thing.
I've read, read, and read some more about trying to find the right way to do this.
I've successfully (through a combination of steps on here and other threads) got my (previously Verizon) Bionic on the Straight Talk network. I have voice, text, and data. Now, I'm running into a few of things that I can't seem to fix.
1st- My radio signal is real low (1 bar to 3 max) The network does not read 3G, it reads "H" ... What does that mean? I've never seen "H".
2nd- The phone seems to have a hell of a time detecting the SD card. Sometimes it does, but most of the time it doesn't.
3rd- I usually have no problem getting my apps back on from my Google account that backs them up after I would FXZ. I usually have to re- download them, but they are at least there. That doesn't happen anymore. I don't know how to recover them. This might have something to do with not having the proper signal. ???
What do you think I should do from here? Any input?
I have a feeling that a couple of tweaks in the build.prop would do the trick, but I'm not sure which ones to modify.
Also, I called Straight Talk and they gave me a more suitable APN for my area(I guess):::::
Name:
Straight Talk
APN:
tfdata
MMSC:
h t t p://mms-tf.net (without the spaces in the http, of course)
MMS Proxy:
mms3.tracfone.net
MMS port:
80
----------------
The rest he told me to just let it default, and that it would fill in itself if need be.
Otherwise, I tweaked the build.prop just like you illustrated in your post.
Thanks for the help, or even pointing me in the direction of an amazing Motorola radio tech.
I have root and I have flashed thru radiocomm the 1877 values.
I get the android.phone FC every time I switch to anything GSM or WCDMA related in phone testing.
I can't find the current workable build.prop edits, am trying to get it to work on Simple mobile.
Also what does renaming / deleting the stk.apk and atk.odex do?
Current edits
persist.radio.ap.phonetype=2 and changing the value to 1.
^only for JB
ro.telephony.default_network=7 (to set GLOBAL preferred network type)
ro.mot.phonemode.vzw4gphone=0 (to make possible APN edit)
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0 (to fix signal strength and wrong carrier)
ro.telephony.ril.v3=signalstrength (to fix non-updating signal strength indicator)
I probably knew what it did at some point but I've since forgotten.

i have done many bionics using this radiocomm hack, everything works on stock, but when i try AOKP rom 4.2 (milestone 2) , custom rom, my sms do not work (inmeadtly receive a message not sent error) any ideas why?
No, no ideas. Is it just SMS or MMS too? or all data? can you get on the internet? does it work w WIFI?
I have been wanting to try the AOKP rom, but I installed the MS1 and at that time it didn't work w GSM, so I haven't gotten around to trying it even since the GSM patch had come out. Does the MS2 have the GSM "Built in"? If I can use it w Safestrap I'' give it a shot and see if I can fig it out.

Honestly, every straight talk modded phone i have seen that isnt getting sms has a problem within the apn settings. The ones you quoted in that post are the best i have used but depending on where you live, you may have to use the tracfone version. Or it ay be something totally different and unique.

I got it fixed, just tweaked some biuld.prop settings , that was the problem, i had made the buildprop tweaks only in the stock one, so no wonder the aokp had problems, and to answer your question , everything works, WIFI, DATA, just by installing it you will not get GSM working you have to do:the the radiocomm edit, the build.prop edit, i even got FM radio working again on JB, no the MS2 doesnt work as GSM until you make the changes, but ponce you do , everything GSM is in there in the aokp menus (apn edits, etc)
I have my bionic going on straight talk w/At&t. Under settings>mobile networks>Network operators I have the choice to search networks and select from a couple of different At&t options, a t-mobile option or I can set it to "choose automatically." Should I keep this on choose automatically or should I select one of the At&t networks it detects, and is there a difference? The two at&t bands appear to operate at the same frequency whereas the T-mobile network looks like a smaller range. I'm trying to optimize signal/data. Thanks in advance.
***UPDATE*** I left my house for the first time today since getting my phone going on GSM w/AT&T StraightTalk and I had 4 bars of reception and full 3g downloads and full messaging capabilities. I'm satisfied with the results and I think any difference in signal strength may come from having been spoiled on Verizon's coverage, even though I never got good reception at my house with verizon either so I guess I can't expect more from someone else.
I can root, flash recovery, flash the TBH GSM.zip hack -- As soon as I reboot from CWM I recieve the error "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen.
I am on 0A.78 - restoring with cdma_targa_9.8.2O-72_VZW-22_cfc.xml.zip (It is the only build that won't err on flash.)
After Restore, I use Oracle VM Ware to root with Root_Bionic_JB_20130501-4.ova
I then install BionicBootstrap.apk - I reboot into CWM, then BAM- Encryption error all over again......
Any ideas? I've been all over the Android boards and can't find much help. I have only had SIM detection and service 1 time previously- I tried to make a call and the phone would not connect. I had to do a manual reboot and I was right back where I started.
You can't use Bionic BootStrap recovery on any build after ICS and you also can't use the TBH zip method anymore.
You have to use RadioComm or other NV access tool to make the edits manually along with the build.prop edits needed.
Is there an actual STEP BY STEP guide? I had it working on stock 4.1.2 ... as soon as I flashed a custom recovery I was right back to Encryption unsuccessful. I was up for 24 hrs + last time when I managed to get it going, so needless to say I'm a little fuzzy on the details of how I managed it.
finally
I had an awful time of trying to use my stock ROM with ST AT&T; I damn near lost my mind.
Most threads fail to mention (or as a newbie I couldn't decipher) that a custom ROM is the way to go, and oh so amazing.
SS slot 2, changed a few lines in build.prop including my default network to WCDMA preferred (which I could not do in stock), easily added APN using the ST Data Settings app, and it is going pretty good so far. The only problem I am experiencing is the absence of my car dock, but that is a whole 'nother thread!
Thanks for all y'all's help! Very brilliant!
I have rooted my phone, and am trying the radiocomm hack, but, radiocomm is not recognizing my phone. how can i get radiocomm to recognize my device is connected?

No Mobile Data after Lollipop Update

Hi there, I've got an european HTC ONE with Vodafone Brand. Yesterday I got the message to update to Lollipop. After this fails, because of ElementalX I used my old Recovery Image and restored it. After that the Update went well. Now I was outside the first time, without Wifi and mobile Data won't turn on. The Telephone and sms works great. Now I don't know what to do. Any Ideas?
Is there The right apn in the settings picture below.

Hey thanks for the fast reply. I am having "Congstar" as Provider and in this list, there is no apn.

Go-to settings - mobile data - access point names - 3 dot menu in top right and select reset to defaults, the screen will change and you'll just have to select your mobile operator from the list again, give it 2 mins and it should work.
When congstar is not in The list you have to add a apn manualy with The right settings ( Google helps )

Last thing I can suggest is get the apn settings off your operator and manually enter them, sometimes they can send you a data packet in a text message which will automatically update the apn for you.
You usually get these same type of texts when you put a new SIM card into your phone, just got to ring them and get them to send it manually this time.
Hey tried that too. Set everything up, restartet, but no mobile data. Any idea?

contact your carrier, or even better, bring them your phone so they can confirm the APN is set correctly and that there is no problem on their side. Then you might want to try a factory reset before trying anything else.
Hi, I just had it short times working. Sometimes it is very short times there but most of the time it is not connected. Is it a Must to add an APN manually? I have never done this before.

No, it's easy, again goto settings, mobile data, 3 dot menu in the top right and select new apn, you will be presented with a load of things to fill out, you can usually get the details from the help section on your mobile operators website, or by calling them and have them talk you through each setting, not all sections need to be filled out, then save it and set it as the one to use rather than the other one you have now which doesn't work.

You said in your last post that you've never set the apn manually before ? But if you have, in that case I would take it to your nearest Vodafone store like alray said earlier and get them to sort it for you.

I had a similar problem when setting up an APN on Virgin mobile, sometimes, some of the settings can be different with the same provider.
I would google the APN settings issue you have specifically with your carrier and see if there are any forum posts which suggest slightly different settings.
In my case the carrier settings for APN type were this APN type — internet + mmsand didnt work...I was told to try this APN type default, supl, mms
And it sprung into life.
It could something that simple
Hi, I just get it to work!
@Seanie280672, I've a vodafone branded phone, but not vodafone as my provider, so I couldn't go to the store. After the second call to my privider, he sends me a ne apn configuration and that worked!
Thanks all for your help!

Umm, I told you to do that back in post 7, glad it's working.

Hotspot Mod no root needed. (WIP) 3/4/16

almost ready just have to confirm a few things before i give the instructions
I don't know if OP is returning to this thread, but here is the explanation he posted in the S7 Edge forum:
Just a quick how to on unlocking the Hotspot on any version of tw including our new s7 and s7 edge. Root is Not needed
First you must get your msl
There are numerous ways to get it the best way is call sprint tech support and tell them "band 41 is disabled and you need to enable it. Your friends s5 gets it and he has sprint spark. Mines disabled" "i can tell because the app lte discovery shows it disabled" they will send you to advanced tech support who will give you the msl and walk you through enabling band 41. {just go along with him and say goodbye you got the msl now} or however you can get it
Next type in ##data# (on the phone dialer pad)
Click edit
Type in yoUr MSL
Go to apn settings
Select the first apn EHRPD and go to type
Change it from (default, mms) to (default, mms, dun) no spaces
Click the menu up top right and hit save
{hitting save is mandatory}
Next got to the lte apn
Go to type
And make the same changes also remember HIT SAVE
Now reboot and turn on your Hotspot
Tadaaaa a.
Note Hotspot will not work on airrave. without adding this:
to get it to work on airrave got to the same APN area as above with MSL
click add apn and name it APN2 EVDO_A
next go to APN below name and type n.ispsn
next go down to type and enter default ,mms, dun
next go down to protocol and check ipv6 and ipv4 both do this on the roaming protocol below it also
next go down to bearer and uncheck unspecified and check EVDO_A
last again in the top right corner hit menu save (saving is mandatory) At least this method. But it works flawlessly otherwise. Hopes this helps
Works on All tw roms
Enjoy
if you update your prl or profile youll have to add dun back to the apns it only takes a minute though
profile and prl updates reset the dun setting
enjoy my fellow s7 edge owners
ADDITIONAL EDIT: If you activated your S7 via the Sprint site after you ordered it, your MSL is the "activation code" that they sent you in your activation email. You can find it on the left hand side, next to the photo of the phone. Look for where it says "Activation code: XXXXXX If your device does not activate automatically, you may need this code." That code is your MSL.

Why not just subscribe to the thread?
Depending on your plan, Hotspot is included if you have one of the gig bucket plans. Use to have to do Hotspot tweaks too,
I went from the 1500 unlimited data, to a 3gig plan and Hotspot is included.
My plan with 2 ezpay s7 phones and 3 gigs is much less than I was paying. Plus I never use more than 3 gigs, usually way less with wifi.
If you have your msl, just adding dun to a string in your data settings will work.
Hoping for the best with this. This was as big omission on my part when switching from my CM 12.1 S3 to the S7 today. Really miss that on the go.
The standard MSl/3282/DUN mod works fine.... However, I'm stuck @ 600k/s

Has anybody gotten a hotspot toggle widget to work?
All the previous ones I used worked on my N3 but not the S7.

Seems my recollection is you have to 'dun' a couple spots in the '3282',
Be sure you got 'em all.
Edited my first post with the details on this mod.
OMG 5 tech support guys later and all giving me the run around for this band 41. Non giving up any codes. Any other work around for finding MSL i miss my tethering ability.

Hopefully you have an old sprint phone lying around...
'Switch/activate' the old phone on your gs7 line via mysprint.com,
at completion of process,
You'll get the ACTIVATION(msl) code.
Wait a short time for account to settle (5-30min),
reactivate your gs7 and get the ACTIVATION(msl) code a6 completion of process.

Tried that but system tells me to go to a sprint store. I have my old rooted Note 3. Guess i will wait for root
I got mine in 3 minutes via chat when I told them I needed the MSL to reset my GPS.
I got mine via chat. Tell them you don't have LTE. They will walk you through some troubleshooting and it includes giving you your MSL
Struck out again went through 3 diffrent people in chat all they did was ##72786# and reset the phone then said to call tech support. Worst luck trying to get this code

I too am interested in this! My previous phone was an S4 which I rooted and did the SQLLite mod to get the hotspot setup widget. But I don't want to root my S7E. What's the best way to get quick access to hotspot on a non-rooted S7E?

Eric K.: Please give me a moment to access your account information.
Eric K.: May I please have your 6-10 digit numeric PIN to access your account?
You: I don't know it. THe answer to my secret question is ***** though
Eric K.: Thank you.
Eric K.: May I know what steps you will take you use this code?
You: Just going to use it to access the network settings and select a different APN. It has happened to me before and doing that has always resolved the issue
Eric K.: It is ******
The steps:
Go to Dialer and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
Press "Edit" then enter your MSL.
Click on APN Settings
For both "APN2 EHRPD internet" and "APN2 LTE internet" change APN Type from "default, mms" to "default, mms, dun"
After you enter the change, hit Menu -> Save before going to the next APN.

I changed location and peaked at about 60mbps

APN Access Unlocked Phone

Hello,
I feel like this has probably been covered before, I have tried to search a bit, but the options that I have been finding (here and other places) either don't work or confuse me.
I recently bought my phone from Best Buy. They did not have a verizon note 8 in stock, but did have an unlocked one in stock. I was told that there was no difference and that it would be better ie. no verizon bloatware.
I thought that this would be a great deal and bought the phone, best buy swapped everything over for me (did not transfer apps and such as I wanted to go through and pick what I wanted to keep). Phone has worked great until 2 days ago (I've had it for just over a week now). I bought it when I was on the road down in Wyoming. Everything functioned like it should.
I travel home to North Dakota and try to send some pictures through text message...MMS? It had been a few days since I had tried it but I get an error. It says "Service not activated on network" and then "server response error". After spending an hour in the verizon store trying to solve this on the phone with a level 2 tech at verizon, they concluded that they weren't able to figure it out because I was running different software than they were used to. They are currently investigating it and will get back to me. I feel that chances are that since I did not get a Verizon phone they will probably just tell me not our problem and good luck!
Anyways, I feel that this is probably an issue with the APN settings, however my phone has them greyed out, I cannot do anything with them. I have researched a few different options, including rooting (don't really want to do) and none of them seem to work. I was hoping that you guys could help me out! I apologize if this isn't the correct forum, I just saw that there seems to be a great wealth of information on here and figured I'd ask.
PS. Mobile data, hotspot, phone calls, regular text, etc all work. It strictly seems to be MMS.
Thanks!
There is an add button in the apn settings. If the greyed out are not correct, you can add your own and then use them.
Sent from my Galaxy Note8 using XDA Labs
Thanks for the response!
Unfortunately even that is greyed out as well. Clicking it doesn't do anything. Also their are three little dots next to the add button and that brings up a greyed out "restore to default" clicking that doesn't do anything either.
On the apn screen it says something along the lines of "current user profile does not have access". I'm starting to think this is something verizon built into the phone or sim card, any other issue I've found similar to mine all seems to be related to Verizon.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Mod Edit
This is strictly related to apn settings, so you might be able to fix this issue
Thanks! I haven't had time to try these but I hopefully can this evening.
Thanks for the responses!
Hey, did you find a solution for editing the APN?
No I didn't...it's all locked by the Verizon sim card. I had to get Best Buy to swap me over to a Verizon phone.
Very unfortunate that they decide to do this.
Well I have a unlocked note 8 on metro and I can edit the apn. You can try to update phone see if th that works. Pr a factory reset.
download quick shortcut maker, search for lte, select com.test.LTEfunctionality, scroll down to LTE APN Setting, Edit APN @heepo18
