You need to buy a sim-unlock code. Insert the foreing sim card, boot the phone and enter the unlock code. You need to be on the stock rom (or stokish custom rom) to be able to use the sim-unlock code.

There are many only services offering this. doctorsim.com for example. You might also be able to get one from that carrier your phone is locked to.

Hi all,
My question is rather simple.
I received my HTC One yesterday. It is branded by the French carrier Sosh.
I'd like to debrand it, so I cans put the stock HTC Sense Rom.
The carrier will send me an unlock code next week.
Can I do everything to debrand my phone, and then only sim unlock it?
Will I lose the official sim unlock passing the device to S-OFF, unlocking the bootloader, etc...?
Thank you very much for your help, I'd really appreciate.

Unlocking the bootloader, rooting, s-off and stock rom will not remove the sim lock.
The only way to sim unlock without paying a third party is to wait for the unlock code
Thank you for your answer.
And in another way, I can do everything, and only then, enter the code?

Yes you should be fine
I also think it does not make sense which you will do first. If unlocking the bootloader, S-Off, root cannot unlock the phone wwhy they will locked it after unlocked from the carrier with code from same. Also if there is any reason the phone to be locked itself you will have already the code to unlock it again.

Hi,
My Atrix HD is subsidy locked... I have read every post regarding this but they were a little bit old and with no solution... Anyone knows if there is a solution now?
I am BL unlocked running Cyanogen. I live overseas so I can't send it back to ATT...
Tried SBF back, change modem, etc... no success... A new motherboard is on it's way but I wanted to know if this one is fixable...
Best Regards!
I think you should buy an unlock code.
You don't need to send it to att. You should be able to just call them.

When subsidy locked you dont have the chance to input any code...
If i could i would buy the code alright...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4
O.. Somehow missed that why did you put that wrong code in that many times?
Sent from my PACMAN MATRIX HD MAXX
My brother did it... We had a code but it did not work (or was misspelled) and he putted to many times...
This seems to be a hard lock, maybe an e-fuse or something...
It seems that there is no way back for this. On the original Atrix, you only needed to flash a different modem from another carrier...
What do you think if i flash a Bell modem.bin or a Telcel radio... I can try that... After all i am BL unlocked and i can always flash the original modem again...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4
I haven't heard of that working, I assume that if it worked most of us would be unlocked by now.
Sent from my MB886 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No... I just want to be able to input the unlock code...
Right now it's hard locked and when i use any SIM card phone says "subsidy locked, please contact your provider". I cant enter the unlock code i bought...
If i flash a different modem/radio from a different provider i might "reset" the counter and i might be able to enter the unlock code i bought.
On the original Atrix MB860 flashing a radio from a different provider allowed to reset the counter and let enter the unlock code a few more times...

I tried everything... unlocked bootloader, changed radio, everything and could not unlock it...
If you time "#73887*" you can input code but will not unlock it.

Branded phone. on stock 14.2.a.1.136
I have a question, Would my phone Imei number set itself to 000000000 if I flash the kitkat rom for my device? I tried flashing a stock rom on another build number which was unbranded and that resulted in no service, no connection to my sim manufacturer or able to look up the kernel, nothing worked. So please reply to my post. My phone is bound for 12 months and I would really like to flash a custom rom like Cyanogen on my device. Is there a way to do this or do I have to wait for a year?
After searching the xda forums I finally found a way to get my phone service up and running again.
My phone is Sony Xperia z1 build 6903 Stock 14.2.a.1.136. bound to a norwegian phone service named Telenor.
Any help or tips are much appreciated, I would really like to avoid encountering the same problem again it costed me alot of grief and will not continue to flash or do anything regarding my phone until someone would be kind enough to point me towards the how to's. Thank you for reading
The "how to's" are very well sign posted in the general and development threads, they are stickies
No, you will not lose IMEI
Thx for replying to my post. one up

you cant use cyanogen rom bcoz it needs a custom kernel, and for you to be able to flash custom kernel you must have an unlocked bootloader..
im not an expert here but i think you cant unlock your bootloader if it is simlocked to your operator
you can only use modified stock rom as mention here by "gregbradley"
so i think you'll have to wait for 12 months for you to flash cyanogen based rom
Sim lock had nothing to do with boot loader unlock. Some Sim locked devices can be unlocked, some Sim free devices can not be unlocked

Well i already have the sim unlock code. so i Will still use the same sim card, but how do warp into the sim unlock mode? I tried setting in another sim card but the phone just asked me to insert the pin for that as well. Then again I would love to unlock my phone and use the same sim card, only difference the phone will be totally mine. So i can flash whatever rom and kernel that suits me. I have been using cyanogen since day one and would love continue to do so.

Your SIM unlock code will not unlock the bootloader, so you will still be unable to flash custom kernels.
Please read what I have said, SIM unlock has nothing to do with Bootloader unlock.
It is true most branded phones have bootloaders which cannot be unlocked and most SIM free phones canbe unlocked. But that is not an exclusive rule.
If you cannot unlock it now, entering a SIM unlock code will NOT unlock your bootloader.
To enter your SIM unlock code, contact your provider who would have given it to you.

You may want to not show your IMEI number to the world.
You can now goto the Sony website and unlock your bootloader using the official way. You can do this whilst you are still SIM locked, proving my point that SIM lock has nothing to do with bootloader unlock
What possible harm can be done with my imei number? Well sim lock certainly voids the service connection flashing builds earlier than 290.

That's not the SIM lock that does that. It does it on my phone and its SIM free.
Ok

I deleted the post, now final question deleting the sim lock literally will then not unlock my bootloader, that I am able to do as of now. But Completely deleting the sim lock will then leave my phone at my disposal, right? Since I have the sim unlock code, but I need to know how to remove the sim lock from my phone, cause using another sim card, which is not from the same company does not jump start the unlock mode.
Tell me if I got everything right. when I insert the sim unlock the sim lock will be completely gone from my phone right? regardless of what kernel or rom I use? and it can never come back?

Yes, just ask the provider of the sim unlock code how to enter it. It should be your network provider. SIM locks or restrictiosn are nothing to do with firmware, android versions or kernels.
Your bootloader can be unlocked now by visiting the official sony website.
Please do not confuse bootloader and sim lock. they are two different issues and you keep talking as if they are related.
I was wondering if after using the unlock code on my phone, does that mean that the bootloader is no longer locked and that I can flash recovery? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

NO. Not the same, as stated above. The unlock code is for using any SIM card in that phone. The bootloader is totally different. Your bootloader is still locked. You will need to root the phone then install safestrap if you want custom ROM's.
Hi.I want to relock bootloader and unrooot my Atrix HD so I can sim unlock my phone for other GSM networks.
I have AT&T version of Atrix HD with OEM Jellybean rom.Is this possible or not?
They say unlock codes doesn`t work if phone is rooted and/or bootloader is unlocked.
It actually works even if the phone is unlocked... Just flash stock jb att rom and use the unlock code....

I am on stock jb att rom rooted with bootloader unlocked.Att sent 2 codes and they didn't work.I thought it maybe because of the phone being rooted and the bootloader being unlocked.Maybe buy a code online from another seller. How many attempts before locked for good.

I will advice you to get a different unlock code provider as the one that told you that is truly insane. Yes you can unlock your phone rooted and/or bootloader unlocked. The only thing that you need to be on stock ROM from att in order to work.
