Jealous of CyanogenMOD users who can change the appearance of their interface whenever they want? No need to be jealous anymore, you can now do it on a stock version of Marshmallow Android.
-First, you have to install Busybox on Rails and follow the instructions inside the app to install Busybox (root needed). Once Busybox is installed, you don't need Busybox on Rails app anymore, you can uninstall it.
-Then, you need to install Layer Manager (the app need root).
That's it, after those two steps, you can install tons of new themes downloaded from the PlayStore like this one: Prime Layers theme. Install any Layers theme you want and then, you can enable them using Layer Manager app. There's only one minor annoyance: you will need to reboot every time you apply a new theme.
Edit: users are reporting that you need to uninstall the current theme in use before installing any new theme. Failing to do so could result in a bootloop. Better be safe than sorry, so if you want to try another new theme, make sure you restore your phone to original condition, by uninstalling any previous Layer theme and then reboot.
OMG! THank you so much! Made my day!

It's not xposed framework. They are different things. Once you install the layer he exemplified you'll see that there are two frameworks, one is a lollipop and the other a marshmallow.

How about just making a separate thread asking about Xposed for X Play MM, instead of posting it in an unrelated thread? So others would find the answer easily too.

No problem. You can continue being rude. I just couldn't paste the link, but I said the file name. Just search for the xposed thread here and download that file.

Instead of being rude, why don't you just learn to use the search function? Hijacking another thread and asking question totally unrelated to the original post is a lack of respect to others people. It is, quite frankly, really frustrating. Also, if you are rude, it expose yourself to people answering you with rude answer. My suggestion would be to use this famous link, you'll get the answer you are looking for: Xposed for Marshmallow
Awesome
this thing is awesome thanks for sharing it :good: themed my moto x play and it looks awesome

Do not, i repeat DO NOT flash multiple themes along each other to frequent.... it will result in a soft brick aka "bootloop"(This just happend)
Always create a Nandroid backup before playing with this
Always reboot after flashing theme (even it's only the playstore or any other app)

Didn't knew it will bootloop cause I flashed two themes. First I applied a theme and then rebooted. It was ok as the theme was applied. Then I applied 2nd theme and rebooted but the theme didn't got applied. I rebooted again, wiped my cache and dalva cache but then I went to uninstall layers tab in layers manager and there I saw both of the layers applied. Then I uninstalled the previous themes layers and rebooted. Voila, the new theme got applied. [emoji4]

Hi folks,
I rooted my Captivate using the One Click Root Guide from this site. When I click on SuperUser permission, I just see a black screen and a message saying "No apps in list".
Did I miss any step?

Well, have any apps requested SuperUser permissions yet? The only apps that will be listed there are ones that you have granted SU permissions to.
Try running ROM Manager, approve SU permissions, then go back and it should be listed...
Oh, sorry, I'm a first time user.
What I really want to achieve is wireless tethering. I also want to do ssh. What should I do next? How do I install them?
What does ROM Manager do? I looked at my Apps and I couldn't find ROM Manager.
Thanks.
Rom manager is downloaded from them market. You can install roms directly from your phone with it. you need super user permission because when you flash clock work recovery in rom manager you will be prompted for super user permission to do so.

Ok. I looked for ROM Manager in Market and saw it. It was $4.99. Not bad at all.
I've got few more questions:
1. What do I need to be able to do free wireless tethering?
2. What applications do I need to download?
3. Do I need to change my phone's kernel to be able to do that?
4. Do I need to ROM Manager for this?
5. Where can I find a good HOWTO after phone has been rooted?
Thanks!
Oh, how do I know if the installation of SuperUser Permission was successful? It's because when I clicked the Log icon on top, it crashed.

Thanks for helping me. I wish the moderator can move my thread soon since I'm so embarrassed to post on the wrong subforum.
I've done some searching/reading in our forum and found that there are many ROMS to choose from. I am more confused now. hehehe. There are tons of different threads as well which confuses the new android users more including me.
By the way, I got the free ROM Manager installed. Which sub forum should I post the questions I posted earlier? I want to try free tethering this evening and other cool tricks.

all the SU app will do is let other apps access restricted parts of your phone.
if you have ?s post them in Q&A
id suggest reading general and reading some of what is going on in the rom threads.

This mod is meant for people like me, who generally like the stability of the stock rom, but want a better battery meter and the CRT off animation. It may break custom roms and will not work on de-odexed roms.
I just made my first mod. I used UOT kitchen, which is a really cool website to cookup minor mods for most roms. You folks probably knew about it forever, I just discovered it. All hail the creators of this website!
http://uot.dakra.lt/
Anyway, this mod was based off of the framework and system file extracted from my phone which is running:
Stock EI22, odexed with mkasick's kernel and CRT Off Mod Custom and non EI22 roms may not like this mod.
It also includes the CRT-OFF mod that was posted by Tortel1210 (I had that installed when I did the mod.)
I don't know if the kernel version will matter or if it works on any other roms, all I know is it works on my phone.
Flash it using CWM 3.x, I strongly suggest making a backup in CWM (nandroid) before flashing this, just because it works on my phone doesn't mean that it won't cause your phone to burst into flames

Would you mind sharing a little bit of how you made this mod with UOT? I tried last night to do some customization using it, but it didn't quite work. The only thing that changed was my font ...
I uploaded my framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk, and systemUI.apk files, but maybe I selected some of the wrong options? Did you have to do anything in particular to get it to work?
Thanks for you help!

You're welcome.
Here's how I made this mod. Your steps will be different depending on the mod you do.
Go To: http://uot.dakra.lt, click on Kitchen. Click on Battery (or whatever mod you are doing), select Use this mod. This brings up a list of possible styles and options. Pick what you want. Click "Generate Preview" if you want to see what it will look like. Continue along with Popup, Lockscreen, or any other options you want to modify. You only have to go into the options you actually want to use.
Click on File Upload. Under update-binary, Select "Type Galaxy"
Where it says "Select your rom from kitchen's list, or upload your own files" Select System files.
Below you will see boxes to upload your framework , twframework-res and SystemUI files.
Go to Summay screen. Click "Submit Work to kitchen"
Let's see, how does it go now....
????
Profit.
Anyway, that's the best I can remember. There is a howto section on the UOT page, and the xda thread for it is at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
I take no credit for this great tool. I'm barely smart enough to use it, let alone write something like that. The sigs at the bottom of the website are:
Qliratu, Mendozinas & Avreen.
These folks are geniuses.

OK, for those of you who have installed this mod, I'm sorry. For some reason it breaks the TW launcher. (I don't use it so I never tested it. Told you I was a noob).
DO NOT select TW launcher as the default launcher, or you will be stuck on an infinite loop of FCs.
If I figure out how to make one that works I'll post it. Otherwise, the only way to get TWLauncher to work again is to restore the original framework and systemUI files, which I don't have.

thats unfortunate, just a bug in the kitchen or something? I saw this thread and made a similar battery mod with the kitchen. Chose the one with the smoother looking blue circle.
Anyway, touchwiz is still working for me, no problems.
Hmm, I might try some odexed themes that way.

All that I have tested this on is CWM3 purple and stock rooted EI22.
The kitchen's website says:
"Flash your downloaded zip in recovery.
Zips are compatible with Clockworkmod 3"
Maybe clearing caches and dalvik will help?
I don't know how using CWM 4 will affect the results, perhaps that's be why it didn't work for you. Hopefully you have a nandroid backup.

You made my day!
I'm gonna use this framework as a base for an odexed theme. So I can have the CRT off mod.
Greetings! I got myself a OPO just a little over a month ago and I've really enjoyed it. I previously rocked a Galaxy Nexus which really got me into modding and stuff which hasn't stopped with this phone. Recently I came across the stock Galaxy S5 bootanimation which I thought was pretty cool so I decided to do one for the 1+1. With some help from the community and the world wide webz I managed to compile an APK which allows you to apply the bootanimation through the awesome CM11 Theme Engine. Without further ado,

does this file overwrite the original bootanimation .zip or do we have to go through the whole process of adding it to the media folder in system and renaming...?
also you say in the OP 'just download and install it' without giving any instructions as to where on the device to download it to and what app to use in order to install

It is an APK file compatible with the CM11 Theme Engine. Just download the file anywhere on your phone, install it and it should appear in the theme engine ready to be applied. If you don't like it you can always switch back to the usual boot animation using the same theme engine.

Thanks for the support guys but I don't think I will take requests for now as I have yet to find a way to easily replace the text. Each letter was self animated by me so if I take requests it would be very painstaking for me to do heh. However, I plan on making one based on the newest android logo so that everyone can enjoy this bootanimation, including nexus 5 owners like @Lethargy

Hey guys! It's been awhile since either @Pneuma1985 or I released anything, but we've finally finished this thing, which literally took forever. Hope you guys enjoy!
This is in no way a port of R3D X's work, although it was definitely inspired by it. Everything in this theme has been completely made from scratch. We just tried to continue where R3D X left off!
Download
Here is the link to the free xda version. It's been tested on 720 and 1080dpi devices, and should work on both CM and PA.
The donate theme contains inverted framework and tons of other custom XML mods. You can find it here. It is probably the most heavily modded CM theme out there

~First off, credits to Pneuma, because without him, this theme would not be possible. I make the images, but he does the rest of the magic. The ratio of his work in this theme to mine is like 1000:1, so yeah, props to him!
~Second of all, massive thanks to @R3D X, because his CM7 and CM9 themes are what inspired this theme, and we tried as hard as possible to imitate his style while at the same time improving some elements of the UI.
~Lastly, thanks to both @arzbhatia and Krish Gounder for helping us with eclipse and providing info about CM themes, since this is our first one

It makes no difference if free version is installed or not. Also applying stock theme and rebooting doesn't help. I'm on Archidroid 3, 240DPI on a Galaxy S3
Thanks for your help so far

I tried applying the style on my LG G3 d-851 running the latest LiquidSmooth build. I'm unfortunately had so many UI force closes that I had to restore a nand. I don't think I can pull a logcat on that because the ui crash prevented me from accessing anything on my phone. Any ideas?

Yeah this is mainly geared towards cm11 and pa stockish builds it may work on other aosp builds depending on the modifications done to the roms framework and or systemui. And that's basically b/c of all the mods done to the systemui in this theme. And always test the free version its a good indication of whether the theme style will work on your rom. Ie: some roms dont allow for dynamic statusbars or reference images as statusbar_backgrounds so it will cause major f/c's and thats smali i cant change that. Some roms even have the option to select it like PA. Yeah there could be a number of reasons why it wouldnt work on a specific rom. But please feel free to test on any theme engine driven rom we'd love to know the results

This is a theme I made for myself but I thought I might as well share it. It's a Material Design theme that's based kind of on the Settings menu style. If you want to try it I hope you enjoy it. It's made for the Nexus 6's screen resolution so it doesn't look all stretched out. Also it's not 100% touched up but I don't think you'll notice anything major. Anyway enjoy.
Install:
Rename the .zip to ui.zip
Create a folder in your TWRP path. Ex: /sdcard/TWRP/theme/
Move ui.zip into that folder. Then enjoy.
You have to run TWRP at least once before installing.

Install the newest TWRP. Rename the zip to ui.zip and move it into TWRP/theme/ it works for everyone else so you must be doing something wrong.

Done exactly as described with both versions, no dice. Its not appearing in the theme selections or changing automatically, even after a reboot or a reinstall of the TWRP apk... ( I had to create the "theme" folder inside the TWRP folder myself.) Is it something to do with file permissions or is there another TWRP folder that isnt in 'sdcard'?

Try this. Put the theme ui.zip in TWRP/theme/ and yes you have to create it first so that was right. Now with your phone booted up try deleting TWRP/.twrps it's the preference file so you won't lose anything important. Also, I'm sorry I have to ask this, you're not unzipping the file you downloaded right? Sorry but I'm trying to cover all bases.

Tried deleting .twrps, tried clearing data & cache for the TWRP app, still not a appearing as an option in themes or autoselecting...
Ahh... Its theming RECOVERY, not the Twrp app. Looks very nice!

It never occured to me you could theme the recovery ui from a folder on the sdcard, or would want to in preference to theming the app. Plus the op doesnt mention it
Nice work. Used the dark theme with no issues
