It is possible to lock the access to apps with tasker. However, this doesn't make much sense when tasker itself is accessible and the corresponding profile can simply be deactivated.
But how can I do this? Tasker doesn't appear on the apps list.
Sorry for my ignorance. I had a look in settings, there I found the answer.

Hello people,
I don't know if anyone else is experience this but I thought I mention it. Also I apologise if this is the incorrect place to start this thread, but I have looked on xda for a tasker dedicated section for troubleshooting.
Now I have a automated WIFI profile that basically enables whenever I load a specific app. But for some strange reason it does not always execute, when a specific app does load and other times it does?
Does anyone else notice this strange behaviour going on with tasker?
If so is it a bug that needs reporting or is there something wrong with my profile?
Thanks in advance!
In Tasker settings/preferences/monitor put to "Always" the Use Reliable Alarms option.

It seems the profile triggers, but not the task.

You can test the Task by manually executing it. Maybe you're using a plug-in that requires permissions to run.

If I run the task manually everything executes just fine.
The task does use one plugin and thats for secure settings, but thats about it.
UPDATE: I think I might know what the problem is, and I think that tasker is unable to wake the device to execute the task, so I added a wake device action in my task and see if this works.
In LL and MM there is battery optimization where Tasker and Secure Settings should be excluded. Other 3rd party battery saving apps might also affect the operation of Tasker and its plugins.

This is true I had taken the advice from here >
As far as I am aware tasker and it's plugins are whitelisted from other 3rd party on my device, so I still don't understand why it still does not work unless I add the wake device action from secure settings.
Any luck on this? I'm noticing that tasker is very slow to execute any actions outside of the app. Meaning, if I create a task that simply has one step..."beep". Next, add that task as a shortcut to my nova launcher desktop. Click the shortcut...it takes almost 30seconds for it to execute the beep. I've been a tasker user for years. Not sure why this lag is occurring.
Tried this...
Tasker is not battery optimized.
Reinstalled Tasker.
rooted Pixel, 7.1.1
I have the same problem with my periodical Wi-Fi check.I have to add the 1 second CPU wake, but it's still not very reliable.maybe the best way to get over this is turning on the screen, but this is kind of defeat the purpose for me so....
any other suggestion?

There is one thing that you can try go to Tasker > preferences > misc and untick reduce resource usage.

I have tried the screen wake function, but even then it doesn't work.
I did notice however that Google connectivity was causing issues for me, such as not able to connect to my ap automatically.
Quit scratching your head trying to remember how to configure Tasker and use my initial Tasker configuration checklist!
Features include a bullet list of configuration and setting preference I typically use when I installing Tasker on a wiped or new device.

Hey there! Unfortunately I do not... I wish there was though! If you are rooted there is always TiBu, I used to just do that until I stopped rooting my devices a few years ago. Thanks for reading my post!
when you create a task and go to Tasker action, there is something called Set Tasker Pref. You can use this to set different aspects of Tasker configuration, isn't this what you want?

That method can do a few things however it will handle a very limited amount of items compared to my list. Hope that helps!
Hello everyone,
I'm very new and I was hoping I can get some assistance from you.
I want to have my screen timeout changed when Im running Tasker in foreground. Is there any way to do this?
Thank you,
From the Tasker FAQ;
Why isn't Tasker shown in the Application Context list ?
Because it's easy to get into trouble firing tasks in Tasker. For example, if a profile is setup with a Tasker Application Context and a task with Load App Calculator, it will not be possible to enter Tasker anymore.

When the accessibility service is enabled for Tasker, the %WIN variable won't detect Tasker either. Of course, disabling accessibility prevents Tasker from intercepting what app is running.
It *might* be possible to do what you want using the app factory and making a kid app.

Hello master, I want to ask. Does anyone know how to run Mobile banking for automatic transfers with tasker? So every time I send a special message via TCP Server, the mbanking will transfer automatically.

Thank you for the response, I am very beginner in using tasker, can you please give me a complete tutorial on running the commands?
No, sorry. I'm also not an Tasker expert.
There are a lot of settings which are based on your banking app. Like the position of the buttons for the pin, transactions and so on.
Also I'm not sure if it will work. My idea was to set up an profile, which gets active as soon as a SMS comes in. The task will then simulate the needed touchscreen actions to launch your app and execute the transaction.
I want to change an option from Developer Options (specifically the background process limit) but now I have to do it manually because this option changes back to the default after every reboot. Is there a way for this change to happen automatically after every reboot, either using Tasker or any other app? I run on Android 9.
Much to my surprised amazement, looking into this for you I discovered the classic IntangibleObject Secure Settings plugin has resurrected itself with an update back in January 2019.
What you want is easy peasy with this plugin. It's under Root Actions -> Background App Processes
Without root also possible -> open dev settings -> scroll down -> autoinput

Would you mind elaborating a bit more on how to do what I want, using Tasker and the app you suggest? If you have time for a step-by-step guide, I would really appreciate it. I have both apps now but I cannot figure out how to make it (it is the first time I am trying to use tasker)

If you mean in the device's dev settings (which, in my device/rom are called Developer Options), there is no autoinput option.
If you are that new to Tasker, then you would really benefit from taking time to read up on it. There are countless write-ups, videos, posts here in this forum geared towards beginners...
Even if you're not planning to need/want a profile, work through a beginner tutorial anyway which will get you familiar with how to add profiles, tasks and connect them.
To use the secure settings plugin action, you do have to be rooted. That's why it's under "root actions". You just add an plug-in action in a task for the secure settings plugin. Then configure that action to run the background process to whatever setting you want.
I would guess in your case the profile context would be an event -> system -> device boot.
BTW, the advice of using AutoInput you were given is a plugin for Tasker also. It would be a non-root method of emulating the taps you otherwise do manually. The specific advice was assuming some familiarity with Tasker and was actually the (abbreviated) steps to achieve what you want using AutoInput.
Import this profile, if you gave Tasker required permissions, should work without root. Just change int value in task.
