Wanted to disable Samsung DVFS so games works smoother,
Tried game tuner but not as good as it should be, it needs a cpu handler as well
some games just freeze after 5-10 min of playing, usually they start working ok, but dont like to see the freeze every now and then
The Wanam DVFS Disabler not working for now.
I'm using Google Now Launcher and not touchwiz so I wanted to know is it safe to totally disable dvfs with removing the dvfs permissions from /sys/devices/14ac0000.mali ?
Those who want to know how to disable DVFS without app :
- Navigate to /sys/devices/14ac0000.mali with any root explorer
- Find the DVFS files (dvfs, dvfs_governor, dvfs_max_lock, dvfs_min_lock, dfvs_table)
- Select them one by one and go to their properties.
- Change permissions and remove all the permissions.

i've figured out the best settings without the supercharger. supercharger may allow multitasking but it makes the system crawl, barely any apps go to cache, app launches are slow etc, AND IT EATS BATTERY LIKE A CANNIBAL on it-self on the ICS beta roms.
what i have done to get incredibly smooth operation is by that i have changed a few and added a few more lines to my build.prop
1) change/add the dalvik.vm.heapsize to 96m from 64m (for lesser multitaskig but smoother apps - i get two apps to multitask with this) or reduce to 48m for more multitasking (i am getting 3 apps multitasking with this 2do, officesuite N email).
2) add MAX_HIDDEN_APPS=1 and MAX_ACTIVITIES=6 (this seems to prevent multiple apps for trying to access the memory and the cpu power at the same time, giving you a better experience, i haven't had any problems with notifications for my facebook, email, pulse n whatsapp)
3) delete the 99supercharger* script from your system/etc/init.d folder
4) i am using the supercharger's bulletproof apps thing for my phone, aNag, phone dialer (option 17) get the ICS services.jar from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1533044 (apparantly its needed to make ICS understand OOM adjustments.
5) go to cwm to clear the dalvik cache or just do superclean-restart with the supercharger script (option 30)
btw, you have to use the DoomLoRD's advanced stock kernel with the stock wifi modules - the doomkernel v4 is superbuggy and unstable. the stock kernel itself doesnt have init.d support for the bulletproofing so you'll need the advanced stock kernel
UPDATE : 5.5) force GPU rendering under developer options in settings.
UPDATE : 6) also add 3 more things via rom toolbox's kernel tweaks for faster launches : vfs_cache_pressure=10 dirty_background_ratio=60 dirty_ratio=95 (i got this from kickasskernelizer) n make em load on reboot. also in kernel tweaks under advanced change up threshold to 75 (higher battery but slower initiations) or 30 (super fast scaling, but lower battery) sampling rate to 200000, powersave bias to 30 (make this 0 for supersmooth, or 60 for more battery life) and i/o scheduler to noop.
UPDATE 7) if you want better multitasking (albeit lesser smooth) apply the superharger OOM+bulletproof launcher settings N lower the screen updates (**** i forgot its name) thing from 200 to 120 (supercharger changes it to 200, which causes lags n a hyper accelerated scrolling)
(I had posted this under JJ's rom, but since its applicable to all ICS beta based roms (out of which i find jj's rom to be the leanest n the meanest) I am posting this here to see what others say about it. also, try his Fold Animations w/buttons (if you like buttons, albeit with a smaller screen area) or my favorite Twister animations.
p.s. devs, please suggest other pros n cons of doing the above.
please press thanks if you like this
I'll try this too.
Thanks
Thanks for the info this weekend I test these things if I can. Looks nice
CyanogenMod is known as one of the fastest Android ROMs available. For many of us with older devices though, it’s not exactly speedy unless you make some tweaks to it. so some changes need to be made. Here are a few changes I made to my galaxy mini that made it super fast. Give them a try on your own device if you Cyanogen runs slow.
Note: Some of these changes may cause damage to your device. I am not responsible for your results. Use these tips at your own risk.
Overclock the CPU
Take advantage of the capabilities that comes with rooting your device. Go under Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Performance > CPU settings and do the following:
Select CPU settings and set Max CPU frequency to 748Mhz or 768Mhz. I personally go with this setting you can choose. This may reduce the life of your hardware, but it’s totally worth it.
Set Available governors to smartass v2 or lilgv2.
Check Set on boot.
Optimize ADWLauncher
The included ADWLauncher will run extremely slow on older devices if left to its default settings. Make some changes under Settings > ADWLauncher:
Select Drawer settings and uncheck Animated Drawer and Fade app labels. This will save resources and enable the launcher to load faster.
ADW drawer settings
Select System Preferences and uncheck Wallpaper Hack.
Also under System Preferences, go to Scrollng cache and set it to Low quality.
ADW wallpaper hack and scrolling cache settings
Miscellaneous tweaks
If your device is still slow after the changes above, you may also want to do the following:
Under Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Performance, check Lock home in memory.
Also under Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Performance uncheck Enable surface dithering.
Cyanogen performance settings
Uninstall unused apps.
Move apps to the SD card.
Delete widgets from the Home screen.
Restart your device and it should now fly. Feel free to post your own optimization tips.

i think swap partition is not recommended
use ram management like Adrenaline engine
i use governor smartass v2 320 min freq and 787 max freq.. my phone works fine and considerably fast
I had plans on writting a detailed thread about speeding up official CM7.2, but i just can't find time for it
For speed, what are the best settings to have? I'm running CM10.2 now, this ROM in particular, with this Kernel. No "performance" scripts, as I tried one and my phone wouldn't boot and had to restore nandroid backup.
For example:
zRAM: disabled, 10%, 18% (default), 26%
Allow purging of assets y/n?
Kernel samepage merging y/n?
16bit transparency y/n? (yes seems obvious but I don't know if it might somehow make it slower)
Right now I'm using SMARTASSH3 governor with max cpu at 825. I can go up to about 900mhz but it doesn't seem to make much difference to be honest.
I/O scheduler: I leave this as NOOP on default because whenever I change it my phone because really unstable and crashes all the time, but if you can suggest one that might be better I'm all ears.
Dev options:
Window animations of course can be reduced or disabled.
Force GPU rendering for 2D drawing y/n?
Force 4x MSAA y/n?
Disable HW overlays y/n?
Background process limit? Whenever I try to change this the setting never "sticks", and I think it seems to cause instability.
Don't keep activities seems like an obvious one to enable, but if you are switching between multiple apps then it could be perceived slowdown as it has to load them up again from the start?
Does the amount of available internal storage make a difference to speed? Right now I am at 14.8mb free, is this used like RAM or something and I should link more apps to SD card? (Link2SD)
Thanks in advance if you answer these extremely common questions..

ZRam: Yes (but the battery life will get shorter!)
Allowing purging of assets: Yes
KSM: Yes
16-Bit transparency: Yes
SmartassH3 is a good choice. If it's getting laggy use smartassv2. I usually use 200-800MHzh.
I/O scheduler: Idk which ones the MA6 kernel has, but ZEN is one of the best.
You can limit the background processes to 3-4, it's up to you and your personal use.
If you have apps that you don't use, deinstall them. Because some of them are running in the background and so they'll use RAM.

On CM 10.1 I got a very slow phone with zen scheduler. Now I'm using deadline and is faster than before. Governor is smartassh3 (supersmooth governor) and 864mhz overclock. This combination works very good for me. Please report back your experience
my phone
(main)
governor: interactive (320-800MHz)
scheduler: sio
(screen off)
governor: ondemand (245-748MHz)
smooth and responsive, try it.
How is battery life with these settings on CM10? Can I aspect at least 10 hours of moderate use?
Disable CPU rendering & Enable full GPU rendering
This work only with Adreno200I do some research and found that the device work better if you disable CPU rendering.
Introduction:
The UI of android keeps improving as updates from the android team keep flowing in. There has been a massive improvement in the aesthetics and looks of the system UI from the ancient Eclair till Jelly Bean. With improving UI and better graphics the system keeps becoming an resource hog. All android smartphones these days come with a separate GPU to satisfy the graphics rendering needs of the apps these days. However the GPU doesn’t exactly help in rendering of the system UI that means the load falls of the CPU to render the system UI and other system framework.
so here is a Mod that will disable CPU rendering and enable full GPU rendering, which will let you enjoy the true power of your adreno200!
Improvements:
-Improved performance.
-Blazing speed.
-Better sound quality.
-Improved responsiveness.
-Smoother UI experience.
-Some apps(bloatware) that earlier ran slow like Facebook will turn snappy.
-Free up CPU for other tasks.
requirements:
-Rooted device
-File manager with root permission
-Little brain xd
1) MAKE A NAND BACKUP OF YOUR ROM. Just in case something would go wrong
2) To disable CPU rendering the ONLY things to do are:
- with a file manager with root access go to system/lib/eg
- open the file egl.cfg. DELETE everything inside the file but keep this line: 0 1 adreno200
- Set the permission to rw-r--r-- for the egl.cfg file.
- rename libGLES_android.so to libGLES_android.so.bakfrom egl folder. Don't delete it so if there is an issue with your ROM you can revert back to this file.
- REBOOT
That's all you have to to to disable CPU rendering. Depending on the ROM you are using you'll see some improvements or not (compile the poll on the top of the page)
In addiction to this explanation, disabling CPU rendering reduce battery juice!
This mean that your device will drain some battery.
Set the permission to rw-r--r-- for the egl.cfg file.
What might you benefit from? So far this is what I noticed.
- performance boost
- speed boost
- increased responsiveness
- better audio quality
- apps such as Facebook that would become slow and unresponsive are suddenly blazing fast
let me try this first and see if it will be better... ☺
So this is better than "Force GPU rendering" in Developer options?

the "opposite" !
this option is to force the rendering to always switch-on this one......and it's highly recomended to definitively disable it .

DREAM UX N8/S8 ROM- TAB S2'S LONG AWAITED OVERHAUL[Updated 19 September 2018]
The group includes all variants as I am now beginning to stem out my ROM to other variants.
Hello fellow Tab S2 users. Ever seen a friends S8 or N8 and gotten jealous of their completely overhauled UI, lovely Always On Display (Edge Lighting too now), Smooth Performance in Games and day-to-day usage and their ridiculously loud mono speakers which sound louder than our Tab S2 speakers because Samsung wants to promote their Tab S3. Well no more! This ROM will do all of that and extra! This ROM is a careful combination and port of both Note's and S8's apps and features but ensuring that performance and efficiency is a priority above all else. The main goal of this ROM is to surpass all of the problems mentioned above but not lose out on awesome features i.e AOD.
NOW I know that I said I wouldn't do that many rebuilds for devices I don't own but I can't help it! This took a while to do so hit the thanks and I'll see you on the next one!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get very far into this ROM, as there doesn't seem to be a keyboard installed, and even selecting the virtual keyboard option in the input settings causes the entire tablet to restart.

Out of curiosity, does your script remove the permissions and keep them removed, like in the pic? I'm just wondering because the ramdisk in the kernel is setting permissions for DVFS. If your script runs after boot it should. But if it runs on boot then it probably doesn't stick.

Just released one final zip. Hopefully! This will be the last fix ZIP I make for this release...
All issues fixex with t710 build. Tablet runs very smooth, thanks for your time and effort, keep up the good work.
AOD not work properly
Great rom! Thank you so much for you effort! Clean installed it today coming from Roadrunner rom. Samsung Themes can not be installed. I always get a message "download failed"...??
Not work, boot every time on TWRP
PS: I don't rooted the tablet.
