Screen constantly wakes with Android Auto running - Android Auto General

I have a 2016 Accord EX-L and I've been enjoying Android Auto for the most part. The one annoyance I have is that my phone's screen wakes up constantly and shows the lockscreen. No new notifications have been received and if I actually unlock my phone only the black Android Auto screen displays. During the day I don't notice it much but driving at night it gets a little distracting.
I'm using a Nexus 6P on Android 6.0.1, stock rooted, and ElementalX kernel.
Is anyone else experiencing issues like this?

I'm not seeing this, but my 6P is not rooted.

I may turn off root temporarily and see if the problem persists. I do notice a lot of wakes from the system's Bluetooth Share. I'll keep an eye on that.

WiFi Disconnect

Hi all, Im running the latest leankernel 1.8 with stock 5.0.1 ROM. After long periods of deepsleep the WiFi will turn itself off, and wont reconnect until i turn the screen on. (eg: after sleeping for the night, when i turn the screen on in the morning, the wifi is off, then reconnects after a few seconds). I don't have any of the battery saving features turned on, and the wifi is set to "always on" in advanced wifi settings. I've searched Google and XDA and come up with nothing. I cant be the only person this is happening to. I have 3 other phones and 3 other tablets, none of which have the same issue. Has anyone run into this problem on their nexus 6? Any help or ideas/ opinions at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Anyone?

I've run into this exact issue. Even happens on 5.1.1
Did you ever end up figuring out the issue. I feel like it might be app related rather than an Android issue.

Never figured it out. Only happens on nexus6. I use wifi keepalive app, seems to do the job without impacting battery.

[Q] My Nexus 6 is almost always awake. What to do?

My Nexus 6 is compeletely stock and untouched software. I have attached screenshots from Nexus 6 (5.0.1) and Note 3 (5.0) to show the point I'm talking about.
When I'm sleeping as you can see on the Note 3 it has very few awakes. But Nexus 6 on the other hand is almost always awake. It drains about 20-25% battery overnight.
I have performed factory reset 3 times and now it has almost no additional apps installed but still the same. (don't judge by the facebook on the screenshot it's just installed and the problem is the same with or without it) I'm not rooted so i can't use the wakelock detector. I've installed GSam and it shows Android OS and Android system as biggest drainers for the current situation (16%, 6%) which i suspect nothing extraordinary.
I have play services 6.7.76 on both devices if it has anything to do with it. I tried something like turning the ambient display off and some other settings to see if theyre waking it but no luck yet. Do you think it is a software thing and Google will eventually fix it and I should wait or what should i do?
I really want to keep this phone but the battery is a big concern for me right now. every morning seeing the battery down without touching the phone is a big problem. Any help and information on the subject is appreciated.
Edit: I have added a screenshot from safe mode. I restarted in safe mode to see if any 3rd party is the cause of the problem. But the problem persists. And I have noticed that when the wifi is compeletely off (Keep awake, Always scanning etc.) the problem is solved. But whenever i turn on the wifi, even when it is not connected to any network, it starts draining battery and keeping phone awake like on the graphics. Can anyone give me a hint if this can be a hardware related issue with the wifi receiver? Or it looks like a software issue and can be solved with the 5.1 update? I have 3 days to return the phone if its a hardware thing. Thanks
You should probably update to 5.1 and see if that helps.

Do you know if it is a common issue and 5.1 fixes it? I've checked the updates but nothing showed up so far. I'm close to 14 day window for my T-Mobile purchase so i need info on 5.1 about this issue and i didn't see anything related :/

You might have the sensor ind bug that was in 5.01 that kept the phone from sleeping properly. From my short experience with 5.1, it's gone. Hard to tell about your situation without screenshots from better battery stats and the app list.

Thank you for the info. Root is not an option on the Nexus 6 cause my sister will be using it and she's not a techie. Without root I can't properly see what keeps it awake :/ As i said, besides the screen, biggest consumers are the Android OS and Android system in Battery settings list. But they're similiar on the Note 3 too so i dont think i can get somewhere with them.
I guess i will have to wait for 5.1 and hope it is fixed as you've said. Do you know what sensor is causing the sensor ind error? Does it have anything with the Ambient display?

Do you use Microsoft Exchange services?
I mean, did you setup other e-mail accounts. Like- Outlook, hotmail .etc??
Because last time I found, that service kept my phone to always wake up..

Oh yeah it has a hotmail account set up besides gmail. I will remove the hotmail account and restart the phone at night and observe in the morning again. Thanks for the suggestion!
If it is the problem, how did you overcome the issue? Are you using browser for your exchange mail account? If so, it will be a pain not getting mails to the app :/
Made some edits on the original post. If it helps..

Location icon blinking constantly

Anyone see their location icon blinking constantly in the upper right corner? It just started this morning. I have had android 5.1.1 since late last week. It's eating my battery. 73% after an hour .
Seeing the same thing after upgrading to 5.1.1 yesterday
What build? I'm on Z and haven't had this at all. Obviously not a common issue. Yet.
sounds as you have an app constantly checking your location. set your location to battery saving.

The thing is that it's not really blinking, it's more flickering really rapidly. Looks buggy. And I've never seen it before. Had to turn off location for quite a while to get it to go away. It's happened twice in two days.

it pops up when your location is being used, ive seen it a few times.
Same issue!
I am having the same issue here. Its not blinking, its more a flickering of the icon like there is a loose connection to a light bulb. Quite odd....
It started just before I update to 5.1.1, sometime after I/O so I wonder if it might be related to the Photos app or another google app update. I hoped upgrading to 5.1.1 would resolve it but it was still there.
I am also on 100% stock android
Same, nexus 5_ 5.1.1 stocks
I've exactly the same issue. Hoping updates~~~ i've notice battery decrease vert fast sincères update. Not sure it's related
One of your applications keeps requesting location access and is being granted then it'll turn off. Find out which application it is and then uninstall the app or deny the location permission to the application.
Or just turn off location / GPS.

Same issue!
I have a Nexus 6. I noticed the issue about 2 weeks ago. I was hoping to get it fixed with the 5.1.1 update, but it didn't.
I haven't been able to find out which app causes this. If someone finds out, could you please let us know?

Boot up in safe mode. Start each app until you find the culprit.
Any resolution?
Has anyone had any luck finding the app responsible for for the flickering icon?
I have started it in safe mode, however am unable to open 3rd party apps in safe mode so cannot find the cause.
Bump
Same issue every startup. 5.1.1 stock. Seems the easy fix is to turn on and off bluetooth though surely there is a more scientific resolution.
I'm been having same issue for some time now.
Today, while location was blinking, I checked the location options and "eye-fi mobile app" (for eye-fi SD card) was at the top of the list.
I have uinstalled it and the blinking stopped...
Will see these days if was the only one causing the problem

Screen is dull for about 5 seconds after updating Lollipop 5.1

When it was Lollipop 5.0.1, It'd never happened before. As in the video (vimeo.com/135371515), after updating Lollipop 5.1, every time I turn on the screen, screen is dull for about 5 seconds then it becomes normal. I'm not sure if I describe it correctly or not, and I hope you guys can see the difference on the screen. It does not affect much in term of usage, but it's just annoying me. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Only way is to turn off adaptive brightness

Yeah, it works. Thanks
It'd never happened before when I turned on adaptive brightness on Lollipop 5.0.1.
Is it because of software or because my phone some how malfunction?

Yeah, its a Sony software issue. And you are not alone. A lot of users including myself are experiencing it.
I also have the same problem after the update but it only occurs from time to time. And interestingly, screen awakes very quickly sometimes after the update.

Constant Blank Toast Notifications

Hey guys, so I've had a bit of an weird issue recently, it started up randomly, I hadn't installed any new apps or anything.
I had rooted my phone and gotten TWRP stuck on it so used Wugfresh to flash it out. During this I fully reset the phone to the stock ROM. Even after this I had this issue. Check attached files for an example of what it looked like.
I thought, maybe it was an app that I had installed previously? So I booted to safe mode and waited a while, and sure enough, the issue persisted.
Today, the Stock 6.0 ROMs were released. So I thought, might as well flash it, my device is being RMA'd for another issue (top speaker loudly crackling when audio isn't being played). So I flashed the 6.0 Stock and left it lying on my laptop for a few minutes as I chatted with a friend on facebook. And sure enough, what's floating there at the bottom of the screen? An empty toast notification.
This is a completely fresh flash. This was on the first screen before I'd logged in or set it to restore my apps or anything. This is the screen where you hit the arrow before adding Wi-Fi and such.
What could this be?
TL;DR: I have constant toast notifications and they're there regardless of safe mode or clean flash. They even exist between major updates (5.1.1 > 6.0)
I have the same issue on my stock ubrooted nexus 5 running 5.1.1
It's driving me crazy! My nexus 6p can't come in the mail any faster!

I've sent in an RMA for my Nexus 6, hopefully I get it replaced. I'm going to use my brother's old iPhone in the meantime while I wait for a response from them, and then leave my replacement unopened and resell it on kijiji. I can't trust my N6 to last when after only around 8 months it's crapping out like this.
Having the same issues on my Nexus 5. Anybody found out?
UPDATE: I installed an Xposed module called Enhanced Toasts, it logs all the toast shown in the device. In my case the Sim Toolkit app showed these blank toasts, i recently changed my SIM.
