Power button stopped working..any ROM/app to use volume button as alternative?

Power button stopped working on my captivate..any ROM/app to use volume button as alternative to power on? Only way right now is plugging up the charger right now

CM 7 has an option for waking up the phone with volume up/down, But u cannot switch on the phone using the volume rockers.

Same thing happened to me awhile ago.
I used Rom manager to flash cm7 and it has an option to wake the phone with volume buttons and there is an app called lock screen tools and I have it set to my search button to turn the screen off. And it works pretty nicely

Re map power button

My phone has been water damaged and the power button no longer works,I searched the forums and found a thread regarding remapping volume button to work as power button but this was for the captivate, will this be the same for sgs2, does anyone have a link to explain how to do it, my phone is stock and not rooted, thanks in advance

C can't see how button remapping will help, you will still be short of a button?

The problem is everytime my phone runs out of battery the only way to get it back on is to remove and replace the battery, this sometimes takes ages too re boot the phone, so I want to replace one of my hard keys for a power button i.e. the up volume on the rocker button, in a different thread it explained how to do it on the Samsung captivate, by re mapping the buttons

[Q] Bought an unlock code, phone stuck in grey screen

Hey people!
I bought an AT&T Motorola Atrix HD and an unlock code. I typed the code and pressed ok. No I see a grey background (stuck in power on screen). I see the status bar and the wifi sign but that's all. I can't even turn the phone off with the button. Please help me!

This may sound a little stupid, but did you try a power cycle? phone off, phone on?

Press the power button once (without holding it) like you're locking the phone. The screen will turn black, now press it again, you'll see the lockscreen now press and hold the power button till you see the power off option coming up.

There's always power + volume up combo as well if you're jammed up

[Q] Power Button to Volume Button

Hello,
I want use the volume buttons instead of the power button to wake my P990 (powerbutton is broken).
Do anybody know if is possible change keymapping somewhere? (I want to turn my phone on with voulme button too).

Can I remap Power button?

Hey,
I'm using XT1060 Verizon DE GSM Unlocked.. Was thinking if we can remap the power button to run a app or other action instead of using it to turn off the screen. I don't use the power button as I prefer using proximity sensor to turn on my screen via GravityScreen.
Help?!
