Hi,
Id like to downgrade to 5.1 from Android 6.0. I took the OTA update for my 1095 and things arent working as well; specifically my reception has changed and i can not use a data connection reliably from the same location at work after the update.
Is there a way to roll back? Or should i try to flash the old modem from 5.1? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
just fyi in case someone runs into this:
I have WIND Moto X (XT 1097) which was unlocked (I am on Bell Mobility Canada) - with the original 4.4.4 firmware:
system: 21.31.52.victara_retca.retca.en.CA
baseband: MSM8974BP_2147.127.04.57R,VICTARA_RETCA_CUST
I manually flashed the retail 5.01 image (I thought the Wind soak test issues came only from OTA)
RETCA_XT1097_5.0.1_LXE22.46-22_cid14_CFC.xml.zip
After I flashed it 5.01 booted fine, but I lost cellular radio. With no way to DOWNGRADE, I thought I was hosed, but after reflashing the 2 original modem files:
fsg.mbn
NON-HLOS.bin
I was back up in 5.01 Lollipop with the radios working again - so I picked up my Bell signal.
I am just wondering now, is there a way to downgrade from 5.01 to 4.4.4 and have the radios working ? Ideally I'd like to reflash this stock image:
RETCA_XT1097_4.4.4_KXE21.187-52_cid14_CFC.xml.zip
Thank you

JUst do exactly the same process BUT dont flash fsg.mbn and NON-HLOS.bin. and your phone will restart on 4.4.4 with radio signal
The 5.0.1 image you flashed was the Telus image, not the Wind Mobile image, which is why you lost your radio. You can flash the original Wind mobile 4.4.4 firmware and you will be back to 4.4.4. You will need to flash the files manually(mfastboot) instead of using RSDlite as one of them will fail as it doesn't allow downgrades, this isn't an issue though.
No this won't work because it gives downgrade errors.
Steve
Hi, not flashing using rsdlite - using mfastboot.
Would you have a link to the original Wind firmware or the full name of the retail Wind firmware image ?
Also - seeing my phone is supposedly unlocked (works now on bell) why would flashing the telus radio vs wind break ?
Thank you!

Hi
The 4.4 and 5.01 image didn't have any reference to Telus or wind they both said RETCA. However If you have the name of the Wind retail 4.4 image I'd appreciate it.
So I have a Chilean XT1097, which I converted to Pure. To update it to 5.0 I needed an EFS backup; if I didn't restore it I'd get a "no signal" icon on the status bar, along with no IMEI and an unknown baseband version. If I restored the EFS backup everything was fine. The thing is that I just updated to 5.1 using the OTA, and whether I restore my EFS or not does nothing; I get something even worse; status bar has a "no SIM icon", and along with the unknown baseband if I hit the IMEI combination on the Dialer instead of showing me a simple "IMEI" screen with no number, as it did on no-EFS 5.0, the app now crashes.
I've tried the following:
Updating from 5.0 with EFS restored
Updating from 5.0 with EFS restored, restoring the backup again on 5.1
Updating from 5.0 without EFS restored, restoring EFS on 5.1
On 5.0 with EFS restored, backed it up again (since previous backup was in 4.4.4), updated to 5.1, restored backup.
None of these work. Any ideas?
Thank you.
I have an XT1097 from Telus in Canada. with 5.0 I could use the modem from my providers 4.4.4 or 5.0.1 build and it worked fine. When I tried the original XT1095 5.1 soak the modem worked without any issue. I assume maybe that was simply because it was a soak test. In the final version you're using it sounds like they went back to a model specific modem again. It probably isn't compatible with a 5.0.x modem which is why it doesn't work for you. You may have no choice but to wait for 5.1 from your provider to use it. If I get time and feel like playing I may give it a shot myself this weekend.

Yup, this seems to be the case. I don't have the original ROM my phone came with, so I guess I'll flash the Brazilian 5.0. I hope that when it updates to 5.1 I have no modem issues (for what it's worth, updating to 5.0 didn't require me to restore my EFS backup!).
Which phone model and provider do you have specifically, I can look for the 5.0.x update for it assuming there is one.

XT1097 on Movistar Chile, latest there is 5.0.2. Shouldn't I need a 5.1-specific modem, though?

Most likely but I figured it would be nice to have the original 5.0.2 for your specific phone but I don't see it in my list of firmware.

Yeah, I couldn't find it either. The closer I got was the Claro Chile (the only other carrier that offers the phone here) 4.4.4 which, due to a falling out they had with Motorola up there in Mexico, stopped selling and updating Motorola phones.

Alright, the solution is to never restore EFS. I suppose it can also be accomplished by flash stock modem and fsg on 5.0.
if i update to 5.1 ota i lose internet data i had to go back to previous version 5.02.
Anyone know how to fix this on 5.1 us cellular moto x?

I just flashed the 5.1 pure edition over my XT1097 and everything is working great because the update has the bands of almost all the major carriers. If you update and you lose signal, data or IMEI just flash the modem of your original version and everything should work.

did you flash the XT1093 firmware 5.1 and you lose signal? weird, because is the official for you model

I flashed the XT1093 version months ago over my 1097 because was the first to get 5.0.2 and stuck at "registering phone, please wait", what I did was to dirty flash over different version.
I understand that CDMA supports diffrentes bands but as I said, if you lose signal after the 5.1 update just try to flash the modems of the 5.0.2 or 5.0 of the XT1093
yes i flashed the original one... i even ota updated it.... seems to be problems with that version. not losing signal, only cant connect to data/internet.
Flash modem files from motorolas own stock image, worked for me
Sent from my XT1095 using XDA Free mobile app
I have a galaxy s5 that is not activated and would like to update to the latest stock, non rooted android version, which I believe is 5.0. I found a tutorial here:
http://www.droidviews.com/install-rooted-lollipop-on-att-galaxy-s5-sm-g900a/
that provides the lollipop firmware (Via the mirror, other link is broken).. However this doesn't work from 4.4.2.
I have been unable to find the 4.4.2->4.4.4 update. Does anyone know where to find this?
If this isn't possible, what are my other options to get to stock 5.0 version.
I was able to find them all from the following, https://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=27720
I'm on 5.0 currently with root. Just checking if it's currently possible to keep root, and upgrade to a newer version.
Maybe. If you have the G900A, you can try here. I don't know about the G870A, though.
I think the last upgrade that was able to keep root was 5.0 build OF3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g900aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3149146
Everything else after that have been unrooted stock roms that at least maintained the ability to rollback. The stock OTA updates of the newer version block you from rolling back to old versions.
