T-Mobile Note 4 SM-N910T - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently purchased a Samsung Note 4 (SM N910T) for from a guy on craigslist after saving up money to buy it, but it keeps turning off out of no where . the phone was having problems before I rooted it, after I rooted it, and after I odin'd the earliest version of kit kat of the phone.. The turning off occurs at any time, during boot, during flashing TWRP, during normal usage of phone, anytime. I recently purchased a brand new OEM Samsung Note 4 Battery and but still has problems. I'm currently on stock DOK2 and still having trouble. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? I can't contact the original seller anymore

Is it rebooting on its own or shutting off completely?

If he's on dok2, likely stuck there and cannot go back to kk. For the op, I think you found why they were selling it..... I would recommend somewhere like swappa.Com over Craigslist.

Go into TWRP and wipe everything including internal sd. Then boot into download mode and flash the DOK2 firmware in ODIN. it could be the software related. If that doesn't fix it, then it might be hardware. You may have to take the phone apart and see if it's got a lose wire or a fried MB. Water damage can also cause this behavior.

So I have kept my device stock except for SuperSU and Busybox, no kernel flash, or rom flash yet, my question is, has Samsung fixed the issue with deleting NV data when flashing between roms? What I want to do, is flash TWRP and backup my current setup, then I want to unroot it, and back it up so that I can switch back and forth between rooted and stock, because I found out that screen mirroring breaks sometimes when you run the stock rom rooted and I want to know before hand if I need to backup my NV data with QPST before flashing back and forth between these two modes. I know I can do it in the terminal, but i've seen issues on my SGS3 with this being restored in a ROM that was not the one you backed up from, I.e. it seemed almost like the backup in the terminal assigned a unique identifier to the backup so when you flashed a ROM and needed to restore it would say the backup was corrupted, of course while I don't see any reason why the NV data would get destroyed during the process of what I'm trying to do, I just want to be fully prepared, because I'm pretty sure the .QCN generator I have for the SGS3 isn't going to write a new .QCN (NV data file) that is going to work on the note 4 seeing as how there were two or three updates to the .QCN version number for the SGS3.

[Q] No Service

Hey guys. Don't know if anyone else had this issue but I tried to flash miui Rom on my s4 from the port hosted on these forums. I am 99% sure I did everything correct but when I booted up I had no service. Tried a few fixes but none worked, tried flashing another Rom that was previously working and still had no service, and I even restored my original stock backup and have no service. I feel it may have been wiping my preloader because this is something I never had to do before. Is there any fix to this or should I restore to stock and unroot to take back?
Thanks ahead of time.
Sounds like you're asking in the wrong place. This is the forum for the GS4 Active.

Why does it work better rooted ?

Hi peeps.
I was rooted a while back. Had problems with phone freezing mostly when using camera.
Sooo i unrooted, relocked bootloader and then used the Sony update to repair. So ive been on .757 pure stock and i got more problems with that, touchscreen was weird from time to time. It rebooted once a day and it didnt matter wich task i was doing it seems (when rooted it only happened during use of camera and mostly AR effects). So now i became random reboots.
Well i rerooted now and now i can use the AOSP brower again(thank god for that) and most things i wanna have working are working. Havent tested it for that long yet when rerooted but keeping fingers crossed that it will work like it should. Possibly some random reboots wich i dunno whats causing them.
But isnt it strange.
I was wondering about something though. Scrolling seems not so smooth when rooted, but that might be placebo kicking in.
/Jonas
I was wrong It worked just as bad with rootaccess now. So I repaired the phone again with Sony update.
I just wanna get rid if this phone now, it gives me me a headache!!!

if you get reboots on Custom Roms with Custom Kernels, well, it's not strange to me, it happen many time, BUT if you get random reboots on Stock, then I will should be worry about it. For all the other reasons you have to have them less on stock, if you really still have all this issues then I will replace it via warranty. I heard some Xperias was not fixed with any Firmware.
Well that's just it. I have reboots on stock rom with stock kernel. Usually once every day. I can't get rid of it. I've repaired and repaired and it is still the same.
Here is the funny part, the warranty of the phone expired one month before I even bought it when I was in touch with Sony. I have abit of an argue with my retailer atm since he says it's software related. And im saying I wanna return it. And get either money back or a new working phone.

Reflash stock rom via flashtool. It sounds like your just repairing the device. Do factory reset and flash stock rom.do a back up first.

I am on .136 stock (4.3), no root, no unlocked bootloader... all works fine...I have read so many people complaining about newer updates to .681 or .757 .... I do not see any point updating to newer versions, as I am not missing anything major with .136

That isn't anything to do with rooting m8, how you flash your phone and what you flash onto your phone, the apps you use or don't use and your actual habits you have, these are some of the things which cause random reboots and problems for the most part, the other is bad luck and hardware issues.
Particular devices did have some rebooting issues, I myself haven't had one in a long time so i don't get them at all, whether i'm on a custom rom or an AOSP rom, I do get the occasional slow down but there isn't a phone out there or PC for that matter that never slows down at any time.
What I would say to do is to clean up your internal and external memory and download a tried and tested rom, lets say monxified 6.0.3
Go back to 534 and re-root, install a custom recovery and flash that bad boy (don't forget to perform a full wipe, factory, cache and dalvic) use a full FTF to fill in the blanks using flashtool (avoid flashing system and TA , exlude wiping with flashtool) Do not restore using recovery either.
Don't flash a custom kernel either, just let the system boot and see how it runs, install one or two apps (not a massive restoration using titanium) Avoid xposed for now and reboot the phone.
See if you can leave it like that for a while and see if you get any random reboots.
Do it by the numbers methodically and you should be fine
Good luck
How do I wipe everything with flashtool.
Last time I rooted I flashed 681 with flashtool. Had strange reboots then aswell.
Let me say this, I have unlocked the bootloader and I do not have backup on my TA. Wouldn't older roms then 681 mess up my phone? Bootloader is relocked with flashtool and I ain't rooted and I don't have CWM installed anymore.
So easiest way to clear the phone would then be? And I want to use Stable Sony rom.
Guide me step by step like if was a complete idiot

If you don't have TA then I don't understand why you relocked your bootloader with Flashtool, it not make sense to me.

Unlock Booltloader, Flash a Stock FTF and wipe everything, then proceed with the steps to gain Root.

You know the steps. ..LOL..
I locked just for camera tests.
But when you say "wipe". Doesn't flashtool already wipe all if I flash a stock rom?

Without DRM Keys the test is useless, but maybe you know now from fact that it not change.

Yes, this is what I meant, just click on Wipe Data, Appslog and Cache. Still not a full format of your system partition but this is what it do to make a clean installation.
Well I did that a few days after I received my phone. I had the same problems back then. I actually did just that one hour before making this post aswell. Hoping it would work good, which it didn't.
If the phone would have been in my possession a little longer I would run it over with my car. Now it's quite new so I won't do that but I'm really tired of it and it's so boring have to send it to my retailer for repairs and w8 forever. Then when I get it back. I BET that they only will flash new software and test it for five min and ship it back and it will still have the same problem.
Been there done that alot of times with other things

(Comment removed. Made a stupid derp)
I was thinking rolling back to 4.3 though to see if that would be more stable. Noticed that, if the phone don't reboot in a day wich it normally does then the touch is acting weird instead.
And last night I stopped it from rebooting, I pressed the power button to turn of screen when it frooze and that cancelled the reboot. But after that I noticed some apps with camera didn't work.

I think something like a Tool to format the entire system partition will be useful but in your case I think it will not help much.
Mega wipe Google it. Back up first as it'll nuke your memory.

Well now I have wiped the phone using cvm. And I flashed 4.3 instead hoping the phone will be stable. If it ain't it's going in the bin
I do miss the emoji keyboard, but that's about it. Know if it's possible to get that on 4.3?
Phone feels alot faster on 4.3, the camera reacts faster and tbh the pictures look better. No problems so far, hoping it will work. Battery time is also ALOT better!

Att NC2 need help going back to factory ASAP

Hello I searched and couldn't find an answer basically I rooted my note 3 with root towel and safe strap unfortunately i didn't back up or back anything up was kinda drunk lol so at this point I can't seem to flash anything I see the galaxy note 3 on the booting then the safe strap shows up and it is giving me two options recovery or continue ... If I hit continue nothing happens ...black screen now if I hit recovery I'll be in safe strap recovery but can't see to flash any NC2 rom anyway at ths point I rather like to go back to stock ncu and start over any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Hello no one here can help? Please!!!
I am having the almost same problem a you, with the exception that I can still use my phone right now. But I can't install any other rom or even use my backup that I made in recovery. They just keep failing. I can give you a copy of my backup that I made maybe that will help you. Just pm me if you want it OK.

I ran into a similar issue. I messed up and learned the hard way to make sure and run a backup before messing with my phone. In my case, I make sure to run Nandriod backup and make a full backup to my external sdcard.
As a suggestion, you can always restore to MLG using the n900aucumlg one click (by designgears) 4.4.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2619941
You can then simply update the modem using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698464
Did you install busybox. The order to do all that was 1. Towelroot. 2. Install busybox. 3. Install safestrap. If nothing is happening I would suggest to boot into stock recovery via power, home, volume up (or down I forget which one it is) and just factory reset like that. It should erase everything and start you fresh

FYI, I would also check out the source from where you are loading your ROMs. Since I swapped over to a different SD card, my installation problems have been cleared up.

[Q] Stuck on Boot S-5 Screen

Hi I have an A&TT S900A. I just installed Unity Rom and upon reboot all is the S-5 Boot screen without ever getting to safestrap. How can I fix this?
I can tell you the same thing hapenned to me and going back to stock was my only option. The only thing to remember here though is that the file to odin back to stock will wipe everything off your internal memory, so you should probably make a back up of your internal memory first if you can. Good luck man.

Thanks a lot. I don't see an Odin return to stock thread specific to this model, so I assume it's pretty standard and will look for just a general walk through online.
ok odin worked fine, now to try if I can get this rom to install again... Thanks for the help!

817t stock firmware

Hi everyone, I was wondering if we had the stock files for the t817t (tmobile). Im on 5.1.1

We're a bit over the average update interval... Perhaps that's an indication that 6.0.1 will be next (hopefully)?
i flashed the sam mobile file to return to stock, the phone rebooted and the samsung logo with no sound. It gets to tmobile white screen and thats it. Nothing else happens. Im letting it sit to see if it will boot up eventually. I have double checked the firmware that I downloaded, it is correct. Any ideas please
I'm always a little bemused by people who go to all the effort of modding their device, downloading the stock firmware then installing it then finally posting they're having issues yet could avoid it all by simply spending 3 minutes making a full backup with TWRP first.
Not directed at anyone but just an observation that seems to happen time and time again.
First of all the stock firmware is flashed via Odin. A back up does no good. It wipes twrp and replaces stock recovery. So, what are you saying? I should have made a backup in twrp then flashed stock firmware and put stock recovery on device so I could recover. Roflmao
Some people post without fully reading the post. Not directed at anyone just an observation.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
Secondly, I have a FULL BACKUP on external sd card. I tried to reinstall twrp and root and reflashing. I still get to white splash screen and sits there for hours.
People should ask before being smart asses.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
Umm... Actually, if you install TWRP right after Odin, you can make a backup without root. Bone stock, fresh from Odin. Then you can restore and go from there if rooting turns out bad. Or whatever.
Just saying

Refer to post 4. Read people. Read. I wanted to go back to stock. 100% no twrp. Wow. So I flashed the firmware to go to completely stock. I had back up of stock Rom BEFORE ROOT ON EXTERNAL AND COPIED TO PC. Just in case.
Wow. So much for helping hands in this bunch.

Temper temper lad.
If you had made a backup (which is suggested) when you first installed TWRP, you could have restored it and been fine.
Now the Odin that someone has already pointed you to, has gone wrong for some reason. That's up to you to figure out.
But, when you Odin'd the correct file, did you wipe all 4 first? Or do a factory reset, then Odin?
Try that and see what happens. Odin only wipes the /system and any remenants or problems will remain unless you clear them.
Edit: /data doesn't get wiped in Odin. Also, if you factory reset, backup your int sd or you'll lose your files.

Wow quoted ME twice. I am popular.
For your info, if you'd have made a full backup with TWRP first before making any mods you wouldn't be in this situation.
All you need do is restore it then flash the stock recovery.img with twrp.
That would put you back to bone stock.
All done without needing ODIN at all.
Also there are many happy flash noobs who read these posts and the previous comment was directed at them.
Don't take it personally.
