4g low signal - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just bought note 5 920 C model.
Been noticing that it has low signal in lte/4g, normally only two bars.
Also, the 3g signal oscillates a lot.
Don't know if it's hardware related or just bad firmware.
I'm in Europe and the phone has arab csc code.
Should I return or not?
If not, should i flash a European firmware to see if it improves?
Thanks

There is no European firmware for note 5
Also I don't think it is hardware related issue' some areas I get only 1 bar on 4g some areas I get full bars and 4g+ it's network related issue because in the Europe 4g is new network band they not fully equipped yet but they will
Don't worry just enjoy your note 5

Thanks for the input.
But when compared to a iPhone 6 sit next by it's stressful.
The iPhone has 4/5 bars opposite to note 5 max 2 bars.

I had i phone before and I did test on both of the devices
I phone 6 with 4 bars, speed test 21mb
Note 5 with 1 bar speed test 59 MB

Dude here im getting 6mbps if im lucky

Don't check bars. Find a way to measure the signal strength. I mean.. IPhone can show - 90db with 5 bars and Samsung cans show only 3 with the same - 90db. Bars are brand relative, but the signal strength are the same.

I'd go with t-mobile. No matter where I've lived it had best service and quality and speeds.
Its 3g is normally better then my 4g speeds and my 4gs speeds are blown outta the water compared to sprint 4g.
But might just be my area
Well I know my area has terrible t mobile service Verizon says I should have good coverage but yet I get terrible service when my friend gets great service and iv been threw every step of tech support did not help also got my phone replaced did not help I was just wondering if Samsung put a bad antenna or radio in there note 3 I want to keep the note 3 am willing to switch carriers but don't want to be stuck with the same problem
What area are u located in my area code is 95621 may they have gotten better since iv had them
So why post this in the sprint forum? ??

H --> R --> H?

Hello, new to the Nexus 6. I'm having a little issue. I keep getting an exclamation and an R, then back to H on my Nexus 6. I noticed that I wouldn't get connectivity if I didn't have Roaming enabled. I got it from Amazon Prime, which says it's a local edition of the Nexus 6 (not imported). And right now, for example, I'm on wifi. I see the Wifi symbol and then an R appears. It says I'm on roaming and then no? Hmm...
I've recorded this video of it, would you mind checking it out and letting me know?

Thanks.
Suggests that your service provider may have a weak signal in your area, or possibly they are experiencing technical difficulties (tower going on and off... I've seen this kind of thing happen lots of times). The fact that it switches to 3G/H *ever* means that it actually is compatible with your carrier.

I know it's not the issue. I have a note 4, same service provider. Also my partner has a z ultra and same service provider. No issues either.
I went into the sim toolkit and changed the roaming settings. Now let's see if it fixes the issue because it's driving me nuts. Lol.

I'm using a rom that is close to stock, I've had similar issue before. Try playing with the mobile data settings to see if this solves it. My carrier is Verizon.

Signal Problem

Hello,
I am getting weak signals on my Nexus 6 (purchased recently) for the SIM Card and for the WIFI, where good Signal Strength are expected. When I talk on the phone the Signal goes to 0 immediately, which aborts the call. This happens several times. Then after 10 - 60 seconds, the signal comes back automatically. This doesn't happen for other phones I have tested in this area. So is there anything I have to do in-order to get a full signal all the time without interruption ? I have googled, but I was not able to find a fix for this issue. Please suggest.
Thanks,
Jos Collin

Could someone please explain to me what is going on. Last year when my network was only offering 3g I was getting 15 to 28mbps in the same area. This year I have 4g and I receive maximum of 4 to 12mbps. Thank you

when your network is busy, your speed gets slowed down. usually its slower in the day, and faster at night. anyways, it has nothing to so with your n6. it all has to do with your network. I get 60mbps near home, and 5mbps near work.
Giffgaff speeds are identical if not slower in my area.

If you take a look at the screenshot it shows you as being on HSPA, which is 3G. So there is definitely a network issue in your location. You would know if you were on LTE, as the network indicator on the phone would read "LTE" instead of "H" or "H+", and LTE speeds would be around 50 down and 10 up.

I don't know who your network provider is but I haven't seen LTE speeds of 50 down since the launch day of the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon. Network quality has severely degraded since then...
I didn't save the test results from when I got the 50/10 result, and I should have. Below is what I just got from a test. Are those numbers typical?

typical is what you would normally see. and typical doesn't exist, since we all see different data speeds throughout the day. again, it all depends how busy your network/tower is at the time. again, I see speeds up to 60mbps download, 30mbps upload. and also, I see speeds of 5mbps download, 5mbps upload. that's a big range isn't it? but its like that every day, depending where I am and what part of the day it is. that's typical.
---------- Post added at 01:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:41 PM ----------
I had a terrible ping on that test, which is why I only got 30 down and 10 up. However, even a better ping doesn't always help. Running a couple of tests on different servers just now resulted in lower speeds than 30/10, which means more people using the network. The question of typical comes up not only because the poster prior to you doubted that I received 50/10, but because I never had a device with working LTE until the Nexus 6 and didn't know what to expect.

Anyone getting LTE connection?

I've had my phone for two weeks and it's never been able to connect to LTE. Am I the only one experiencing this issue?
ATT has my IMEI in the database and still no success.

You do realize that Oxygen OS doesn't show an LTE icon for LTE service? LTE is still considered 4G service, and as such it's only reported as 4G.
Download LTE Discovery, it will tell you if you're on LTE or not.
Straight Talk MVNO: AT&T Towers
OxygenOS: No, I only get a "4G+" which after a while seemed like it was as fast at LTE if I got good reception. Either icon next to the signal icon means the same thing.
Sultan's ROM: Yes, I see the LTE icon, and I even get the LTE icon indoors where I used to not get it on Oxygen OS. The APN was automatically in the system as well on this ROM.

Take a look at your APN's. If they look right, give AT&T a call.

Already did that, no worky. So maybe the phone is just defective, or OnePlus sent me one for the Chinese network and but the USA.
