Latest firmwares downloaded for xperia z1 and tablet z with this version of Pc Companion can't be decrypted with Flashtool xperia 0.9.19.10
Flashtool hangs and not decrypt any file.
Latest firmwares downloaded with Xperifirm decrypt well.
Has Sony changed file contents?
H
FILE_XXXX downloaded with Pc Companion seem compressed one time only, with 7-zip can extract its contents.
FILE_XXXX downloaded with xperiafirm seem compressed two times. With 7-zip can extract its contents with 2 consecutive extractions. The first give me FILE_XXXX~ . From this file : FILE_XXXX~ I can extract its contents with 7-zip.
In both cases only a litlle FILE of 93KB at xperiafirm and 170K at Pc Companion can't extracted.
This lttle FILE_XXX is the loader.sin. It's not necessary to extract, in the case of Pc Companion, only rename it . I can finally create bundle with Flashtool

I need some help, I don't seem to be able to extract the sytem.sin, then I get a gZ archive witch I can't open with 7zip, annyone has a method that works? or a ext4 extractor?
extract system.sin from archive, then use flashtool and option sin editor, it will make .ext4 file...and last step use ext2explore-2.1.65 and open ext4 file

as our friend said, the procedure is that easy, and that was complete, just for making your burdun a bit lighter, this is link for that explorer you need at the last step
wish you luck bro
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext...xt2explore-2.1.65.zip/download?use_mirror=dfn
hoping to make a stock based rom for LT30p so we can keep the polished stock rom, with maybe some nexus look-a-like xp I'll see
No need for the ext2 explorer.
Once you have dumped the data in flash tool just use that ext4 file as the working file for your Rom in dsixdas kitchen
Sent whilst sat on the toilet.
I put the system.ext4 in the original update folder , but still get this: Ensure there is at least one ROM under the 'original_update' folder!

Make sure you read the instructions in the kitchen OP and post 2
Sony Xperia 2011-12 devices, specifically:
- TX, P, U, Sola
- Active, Arc, Arc S, Mini, Mini Pro, Neo, Neo V, Neo L,
Play, Ray (follow steps below):
- Can only build ROM without boot.img
- If using stock FTF for kitchen:
1) Unzip FTF file, extract the system.sin
2) Dump system image from system.sin w/ Flashtool
(Advanced-> SIN Editor)
3) Rename dumped file to system.img
- OR If using Nandroid backups: Rename system.yaffs2.img to system.img
- Use this system.img in kitchen's original_update folder
- WARNING - If using a ROM made from system.sin (not Nandroid), it
is recommended to flash from the temporary (fastboot) Clockwork
Recovery, rather than the regular Clockwork Recovery, otherwise
device may not boot (possibly because custom recovery files in
system folder are not added to ROM? e.g. recovery.tar).

Do limitations I can't post external links
Get Sony Update Service: sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Get Xperia Flashtool: flashtool.net
01) Download and install latest Flashtool
02) Download Sony Update Service (SUS) and reinstall firmware of your phone (backup your data first)
Follow the steps in SUS
03) After that, go to SUS installation folder and search for folder db/some Number/blob_fs, there you find some files, which names start "FILE_"
04) Paste the "FILE_" files, which names start FILE, from blob_fs folder to folder "Firmware" included in the XPERIA Flashtool
05) Open the Flashtool, click on Tools->Bundles->FILESET Decrypt and put all "FILE_" files from blob_fs folder to the right columm
06) Click ok and after approx. one minute a pop up Window will appear via Flashtool
07) Fill in a boxes in the top of the screen, fill in what you want, it is just for you (A double click is needed on the first one)
08) Mark all files and transfer them to the right column
09) Now click ok and Flashtool will create backup of your original firmware customization, that you can anytime flash to your phone
10) finally go to the Flashtools Firmware folder and delete all unneeded files (.sin, .ta ect.)
Hope this helps
I have a Xperia ZR (C5502) from Dubai and I am still waiting for the KitKat OTA after more than a month of its release. I have heard some of the members here advising that people like me should just flash the US or Taiwan ROM. However, I do not know how to do that. I don't know where to find the ROM and how to use the Flashtool to flash it. I would also prefer the US ROM instead of the Taiwan one. I have searched around the internet but with the Xperia ZR being a pretty uncommon and low activity device, I cannot find anything. Can somebody please guide me?
38 views and not a single reply??? Come one guys, please help me if you can.
2 options:
Download Flashtool:
Download the *.FTF file with latest firmware
Place the .FTF file in the Firmwares folder of Flashtool
Open flashtool, click on the "thunder" icon and select flashmode
Select the ftf file and follow instructions on-screen
Or, and this is what I did to get the Customized US on my C5502 and it's wotking perfectly:
Change some values** of the build.prop*
Reboot your phone
Connect to your PC with either PC Companion or Sony Update Service.***
*You'll need to have root, an easy way to do this is downloading towelroot and then SuperSU, SuperUser or any other app form the playstore.
**You need to change SI Numbers on the build.prop file (located in /System/ folder); you can do this with build.prop editor or any other file explorer+Text editor (like Root Explorer)
The values you need to change to get the Customized US are:
"ro.semc.version.cust" value to 1273-9930
"ro.semc.version.cus_revision" value to R1D
***I used PC Companion and selected the "Restore/Repair phone" option to get a clean install. Loose root after that but can get it back with towelroot

Hi,
If you are using latest version of flashtool ie ver 0.9.18.5 or above, you have to move contents of firmwares folder (all ftf files) to your user profile directory.
For example if you are on windows 7 folder will be C:\Users\username\.flashtool\.
Other possible reason that ftf file is not listed is that your ftf file is corrupted. It happened to me as well 1-2 times.

I would suggest you not to use ftf file provided by someone else. It is quite easy to create your own ftf for your device and before starting, please update your flashtool to latest version available 0.9.18.6 because it provides integration with XperiFirm. If you don’t like to update, you can still create your own ftf file using old version of flashtool but you have to download and install XperiFirm from http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142.
Follow the instructions carefully.
XperiFirm Section:
1. Select your handset on the left pane. You can then choose the firmware for your region/carrier in the middle pane. The pane on the right side will show you which firmware is available for that region. Click on it to download the file.
2. You will find a number of files starting with ‘FILE’ in the download location. Please take note of this location. If this folder include ‘fwinfo.xml’ then manually delete it before continuing to the flashtool section. If you do not delete this file, your ftf will not work, it will corrupt.
Flashtool Section:
1. Launch Flashtool
2. Click Tools – Bundles – FILESET Decrypt.
3. In Source Folder, Browse for the location of files you have noted in Step 2 of XperiFirm Section.
4. Select All files under Available files column and hit -> arrow to move all files to convert column and then click Convert. This can take a few minutes so please be patient and wait till it is completed. After this is complete, a new Bundler window will pop up automatically. If it does not, you can manually open Bundler by going Tools –- Bundles -- Create.
5. Select the ‘Device’ box which will bring up a box allowing you to select your device. You can then type in the region in Branding field and the build number in version field.
6. Under Folder List, select all files except files with .ta extension and hit -> button to move selected files to right side and click Create button. This is very important to exclude .ta files else you could brick your phone.
7. Flashtool will now start parsing files and once complete you can look for your newly create ftf file in Firmwares folder.
For better understanding I have uploaded Images as well, you can go through images one by one.
Hit Thanks if you find it helpful.
There is a new, easier option. Use the tool "Emma". It's a tool from Sony especially made to get a phone back to factory defaults. After this, flash whatever you want
I should put this text into my signature... I've written it just a minute ago into another thread where a similar question was asked

You say that, but I've spent the last 2 hours trying to figure how to get Emma to recognise the TFT file...
Yes, including googling. No way to point Emma to the TFT file I want to flash.
Hi all,
I have tried to create FTF file, but unfortunately I can't decrypt files from Sony Pc Companion. Do You know why?
What is more, Sony changed location of these files from "..\Sony Mobile\Update Engine\db\13740270\blob_fs" to "..\Sony Mobile\Update Engine\localstorage\13740270".
As I said, I can't decrypt files from Sony Pc Companion, using "FILESET decrypt" in Flashtool.
Flashtool freezes after few seconds.
In that thread, it was said to use winrar to unpack files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/help/create-ftf-file-pc-companion-update-t3331096
In generally, it works. I can unpack files to folder, but there is no "loader.sin" file.
Is loader.sin very important in ftf file? What is it? What does it exactly do?
I know, I can download firmware from XperiFirm, but I want to do that in old way, in way I did it many times.
I mean -> Download firmware in Sony PC Companion by "repair" option -> Decrypt Fileset in Flashtool -> Flash ftf file to mine Xperia.
Please help me.
Thanks!

Hi,
In my case loader.sin was included at the end by flashtool : after you entered all your device informations (device, branding, version...) you can select your device in a list. Double click on your device name and loader.sin will be included.
(Be carreful to not include .ta files to bundle)
I don't know if it make something but I had an old ftf on my flashtool folder before generating 228 one.
If all work you will see that loader.sin is included in bundle by looking logs.
