Free root option - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I have a Droid Turbo that I have rooted with kingroot. I have seen other threads that have said that you then need to pay for sunshine in order to get "full" root. Is this true? What are the other options and pros and cons? I can not pay for sunshine so what is the next step to a rooted Droid turbo?

Yes, this is true. There are no other options.

Why can you not pay for sunshine?
I understand not wanting to... But you own a $400 phone.... $25 is just 1/16th of that.
But yeah no other option right now... Sorry man.

I bought my phone for $100. Another $25 is 1/4th. But thanks for the advice

There are several ways to acquire money if you're tight on cash right now. You can use the QuickThoughts app to get $10 Amazon giftcards by doing surverys, and other apps offer Paypal and Google Wallet funds.
Paying $25 seems like a lot, but it's definitely worth every penny of it.

i dont like the fact that if you need to replace your phone for any reason then you need to pay another $25..

I'm absolutely broke and I scraped up $25 for sunshine. It's worth it just for the piece of mind if having reliable twrp

It's a small price to pay for a modifiable device. Most people, myself in included, never thought we'd see an unlocked bootloader on the Turbo. $25 is a steal IMO.

If you read their website you find that the reason for that is so many people were cheating them. Considering the cost of buying devices to test I completely see the need to charge and being people's habit of cheating I see the reason for the "pay per phone no matter what".

I bought it at Verison. It was on sale, $50 off with mailin rebate.

if you can't afford an extra $25 then you shouldn't have a cell phone in the first place. either your priorities are jacked or your a cheap bastard. Either way, you don;t need to be rooting your phone.

Might want to stay away from modding something that can leave you out of a phone, ultimately forcing you to spend lots more on a new one.

Make it so it can only be used on the same phone number or the same exact type of phone or both. There are ways to keep people from ripping them off
Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

If you don't wanna spend $25 which is really bothig at all for how you get out of it, don't root the phone. If you don't have a debit or credit card there are prepaid visa/MasterCard's you can buy, even visa giftcards. Getting money onto a payment source has many ways, and being cheap and stingy isn't the way to go.
If your boss said to you, "hey, I told our customer that he can have this for $100 off asking price and its coming out of your paycheck" you would be furious right?
Why should the devs do this work for us and get nothing from their work when you would demand the same thing?

That wouldn't work - how hard would it be to stick your sim in your friends turbo to use your bootloader unlock? The only way is serial/imei . Which is what they use.

I want a new phone :/

I really want an Incredible 2 but whatever sites offer it for free, only tell you later on that it's only free if you're getting a new line added.
Even Walmart did this to me, even when I said on the site that I was RENEWING my line.
So, is there any way I can get a free Incredible from one of these sites, even if I'm just renewing? Please help me out, guys. Thanks.

Technically I am. I'm gonna use the eligibility for an upgrade on another line for my own (which I've done before). I really don't wanna pay anything if it's possible. But it looks like it isn't.
nope
get an unlocked phone if you dont want contract
get an unlocked phone if you dont want contract
thats a golden rolle
buy phones from private sellers. that's what i do. sometimes they're already unlocked, you can give them your offer and it's not a contract.
If you want to upgrade to a free phone, you should check all sites online...the carrier's sites plus amazon, wirefly, etc.
Best price I've found was on amazon, it was for $80, plus free shipping. I'd recommend not getting this phone thou. The breaking point for me was the camera, pictures output isn't good enough in comparison to HTC phones.

What's he saying is that he wants to get a good phone at new contract/2 year upgrade prices without having an upgrade eligible or having to buy it outright.
Not likely.
Theres always craigslist.
Buy the phone for cheap, then you can activate it as your new phone EVEN if your still on contract.

they only want new customers not current customers
The deals are the same for renewal, on Amazon wireless at least.

You also need to make sure that you can activated where you are at as well.
I'm interested in the accesories and Rootzwiki.com is trying to buy a device to gain root with. How about I get all those accessories(ext batt, and both docks) for $50 and then you sell the D3 to rootzwiki for $325? I will pay the shipping to me so you can include shipping in the price for rootzwiki.

Well I would need to sell to Rootzwiki first as I do not want to sell everything separately. I would hate to sell you the accessories and then I cant sell the phone.
Without a doubt. I'm trying to get a response from them. I was thinking about selling mine and had a thread up over there. He asked yesterday if I still had it for sale...so just waiting to hear from him again.

So, i have been deciding if i should pre order from Best buy or ATT. The Media link is kinda cool and is worth more then the 50 best buy play store thing but what other advantages does best buy have over att? I was wondering which one are you going to do and why. Does best buy offer insurance on their phones? i always get insurance from att and its pretty decent i was wondering what best buy does and if anyone has had problems with them (i have had many problems with att insurance ) just trying to decide where to get it. i didnt see another thread that was like this its usually its own individual subject but i wanna hear why people would get it at best buy over att. thanks.
The pre-order link that I found on Best Buys website does not make any mention of that $50 gift card. Also Best Buy doesn't seem to be offering the 64GB model for pre-order yet.

hmm well thats what i found out from other peoples posts.
What about Radio Shack with the $50 Playstore gift card? I know it was specified for Sprint, however, if this holds true for ATT it might be worth considering as well.

Good question, however, since you purchase the phone new you should be able to add insurance to the device within 30 days of purchase. Just as you would at a traditional ATT store.
If you're purchasing in the USA and care about LTE, the version you buy is important. There are several versions with different LTE band support.
I don't really know how it works out there, but you're pretty much tied to your carrier due to frequency support.

I think what OP was talking about was Best Buy's "phone freedom" offer of which registration ended about a month ago. Basically if you registered your number with BB.com, and got a new phone at best buy mobile in the calender year 2013, you got a free 50 dollar gift card.
I never quite understood the reason behind these threads. Do you go online to ask which pair of underwear to wear on a certain day? Do what's gonna make you happy, don't worry about what others think.

you sir, have down syndrome. Regardless of what you say, i know you have an extra chromosome. I Was asking to see which one is the better deal, because i haven't bought a phone from Best Buy or Radio shack. I clearly ask for the benefits to purchase it at another store, you don't need troll for no reason.
I'd be interested to know if you can buy insurance from Best Buy for a phone you bought at AT&T. ATT's insurance deal sucks. It's $7mo with a $200 deductible.
Everybody should look into squaretrade for insurance. I've had in for the past 7 years on all my phones and it includes accidental damage.
If they can't replace or repair they send you a check for retail price of the phone.

It all about cash flow I got about $2000 in my phone fund and have a few phones if I paid cash for every one I wouldn't to up grade as often as I do.
Not to be the one who says it, but that's sort of a **** thing to say. Not everybody has $700.00 to drop on a phone all at once. A lot of people are basically financing their phones when they go through a carrier anyways.

I gotta agree with this guy. I understand zero percent financing and all, but for someone to pay for the phone with PayPal credit is outrageous. Its like 27% interest.

BillMeLater turned into PayPal Credit. They still offer no interest for 6 month deals, but its not a blanket offer like BillMeLater was. There are inclusions, exclusions, and tons of fine print.
BTW, I overstated. The fine print for the APR reads:
"The Annual Percentage Rate is 19.99%"
(which is still outrageously high)

My last two phones I brought full price from T-Mobile. I brought a Samsung Note 3 and The phone I have now LG G3. I just didnt want to pay full price this time around.
I've ordered stuff on PayPal credit and I always get 6 months no interest no matter what. I pay it off way before that anyway so it's not a big deal.
So what if you finance it through Motorola if you are good with money you pay it off.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
Just use T-Mobile and finance.
G3
You can't finance through PayPal unless the seller accepts PayPal. I could be wrong but I don't think the Play Store does. Verizon doesn't or any of the other carriers. Your only shot is Motorola if and when they decide to. Unless you can pick up a new one on EBay or Swappa for a reasonable price. You know how that goes guys say they are new but there not + no warranty unless you get a carrier to honor it.
I didn't mean to sound like a jerk when I posted that response last night. If you have 0% interest for 12 or 18 months and you pay it off without getting penalized for late payments or whatever, it's a good deal. On the other hand, if you are planning to pay off the phone with a credit card that charges a ridiculous interest like 10 - 30%, I would agree that it's not a wise choice. In the end, it's really none of my business to tell anyone how to purchase a phone. Sometimes, if you want the latest and greatest phone, you'll do just about anything to get it.
