Xperia V night shots :(

Hi, 3 days ago I've bought my Xperia V. After having SGS2 I've expected better photos from phone with Exmor camera. Could You post some Yours photos from Xperia V made in low light ? My photos can be compared to those on this site http://knowyourxperia.wordpress.com/2013/02/04/xperia-z-vs-xperia-v-night-shots-compared/ Is this sensor so crappy ? Even Xperia S (one year old model) has got better camera. The quality of photos is not acceptable. IMHO the problem must be in software because Xperia with the same sensor makes better photos.
Please post some examples from Yours Xperia V in low light condition.

Dont use "AUTO' mode when it comes to Xperia, friend. You have to use manual and configure by yourself ^^

Use night scene. It is really good at low light. When you use auto, ISO is also auto and all hells brake loose

I'll try night scene and some manual settings however I was ex[ecting that Superior Automode will do much better photos. This mode makes very beautifull photos on Xperia Z. In conlusion - if manual settings would help then Sony should think to improve camera software on Xperia V. Camera should make beautifull photos out of the box like iPhone camera. Maybe it's not the best comparison however apple camera behave much better in low light condition. I know that it's not ther flagship but many people, like me, will buy Xperia V rather then Z because it's more more handy. Not all the people have pianist hands.

Try using a different camera-app and modes.
I've taken many photos at night, and I'm overwhelmed by the light it absorbs.
I actually managed to take pictures of the Aurora Borealis.
Look for yourself (yes, they are choppy and of somewhat bad quality. but again, its a phone camera. but still one of the best if not THE best one out there.)

And so it's said. I've NEVER managed to take photos of the aurora borealis with a phone before, and I've tried with iPhone, SGS2, Xperia Arc S, Xperia S and the Lumia 800. The Xperia V was the first one where I actually saw some of the lighting take shape on the picture.

Awesome, thanks for sharing those pictures. While they may not be compared to professional shots, the fact that you took them with your phone makes them feel somehow "closer".

I have found Superior Auto mode to not be the best setting for the phone even though its supposed to its self automatically pick the best setting and through this setting it's automatic for when you use the sleep to snap function it shoots picks at 12 megapixels instead of 13 in this mode
Though I have a T and not a V I believe there close enough.

Yours photo is resized. Let me see 100% crop. from original size.

Extra resolution is there to allow editing and downsizing.
If you actually use full-size 12-13 Mpix photos anywhere outside of professional publishing and/or use smartphone photos for professional publishing, I don't really have anything to say that would not be insulting in one way or another.
The quality of a 12 Mpix smartphone camera image itself does not matter. What matters is what quality will a 1920×1600 (or less) image produced from it have.

Superior Auto actually made the best pics in difficult conditions in my case....
But for the night the Night Mode...

I think problem in JB , All the Xperias get same options like V in camera settings ...

i think this is good for xperia v, and it better than iphone 5 as my experience...

Amazing Photo. What I've noticed. When making photo in night mode camera is not using high iso, it uses longer time to make photo. The problem is stabilization of camera

good hardware with poor software optimization. same goes with my xperia tx. i thinks they just to much compressed the image data make picture so poor. i think my old dead nokia n8 better take picture and video quality

We are missing something .... Personally i think , after updating JB camera quality get down ... reason is marketing ( selling Z ) later when we will get any JB update it will be fix ... maybe i am wrong ...

I also feel that my V's camera capability went down after updating to JB...

This was taken with hdr camera+ in quite low light.
Was comparing different camera apps last night.
Unfortunately the stock camera app either blurred it out, or fired flash and I got a blue white glare.

I have done some tests today, simply to compare HDR and non-HDR photos (both in Normal Mode)

Personally I think that in most cases HDR are a bit washed out.
HDR processing engine in XZ is not the best (I know what I am talking about, been doing photos for years ... with 60D, now with 7D over a year, processing with PS CS3, CS4 and now CS5).
What do you think guys ?

personally I think it's not post-processing the HDR properly, it's just saving the last exposure, (the stock camera takes 3 the same as the hdr+ app) then combines them.
You can see the different ones appear in the thumbnail preview in the stock camera app when you take a hdr photo, the last one is the one that shows up.
Must have a look at the logs, see if there's anything obvious.

I wouldnt fully agree that it shows last from the 3. If it was, buildings would be properly exposed and the sky much over exposed. Like you can see this is not the case as the sky is still properly exposed.
Where to find these logs ?
I believe you are not talking about picture EXIF ?

[Xperia T] [Camera] Poor Camera Problem

I'm using Xperia T lt30p right now!
My current rom is:XperimenT 3.0
My phone's camera is so poor.I see something like cloud on display,the parts displayed on screen with blur pixel....it not clearly.And when I try to compare with IP5 I have an question?Why IP 5 had more wider angle than Xperia T,IP5 capture more space with same view.:crying::crying::crying:

This is weird. My camera functions perfectly and is one of the best cameras I have come across. No clouding or blurring. Maybe your lens is scratched causing focal errors.

actually i tested with other ROM i use, but problem is the ROM like cyanogen (i am sorry if i am saying wrong) without xperia camera, it would be poor quality, i have compared both stock ROM and other ROM, but both are different quality, i were waiting them to implement with sony camera for xperia.
Currently Cyanogen is working out camera with xperia.

I will undertake that my phone is brandnew...no any problem about hardware...I buy it only two weeks ago...Not only my phone...I tested many phones include Xperia V,Xperia TX....All of them have something not good,wide angle is less ip5,screen is smugde color...

are you using stock ROM or other ROM?
stock ROM i dun have a problem about the color, but compared to IP, IP has better color, but not sure about the print out quality
if you use other than stock ROM, i confirmed is the software, due to different software will have different quality

Okay honestly I didn't think you would go so deep into it but its probably due to noise reduction features. Did you try a third party app? Like Vignette maybe? Or a more advanced mod like camera fv-5 where you can control the ISO values

if u dun have good quality via ur CWM, i can recommend you camera 360 from google play, better quality than CWM camera

It's due Adreno 225 render issue. . .

LG Camera App for all Roms

Hi,
I make my presence again with the LG Camera App for all roms. It was not my work. All credits go to sefnap for modding the LG Camera app to work on all roms. It also has a lot of features like the Lenovo Camera App and one specialty is that this app has video light functionality too. Has a minor bug that the dual camera doesn't work but rest seems fine here. Hope you enjoy

The picture quality is better in honami camera, BTW i don't know about stock camera.

VR panorama not working
I downloaded LG Camera specifically to try the VR panorama on PACMAN rom 1113. Tried with at 13 mb resolution and I get a green screen in the area where the camera image should be. It seems the app is not reading the camera inthat setting. All other settins seem to work, excpt dual camera, as stated in op.
Lenovo Camera does not have VR pano ou similar, AFAIK, and honami camera does not work on Pacman rom, so, I'll have to keep looking:silly:

Lenovo camera was way better! Sharper pictures, this one is only better than stock one but worse than all others ... go with ProCapture Pro

All i wanted was manual focus... @op will this be updated?

Are people really sure about their "this cam is worse than the others" ideas, and so? I mean, how would an app make the camera better? Other than direct JPG compression, then I dont really see how. For me its more about the features of the camera. This APP FC's alot for me but once I got to start a recording, it seems to have a pause & continue, while recording, feature. Something I'd really like and something I don't understand why isn't in the stock Sony cam app.

"BSDgeek_Jake_LGCamera_Port_AndroidGeneric4.3ALL_i9500_i9505_CWM" to be Flashed from CWM recovery.
"BSDgeek_Jake_LGCamera_Port_AndroidGeneric4.3ALL_i9500_i9505_MANUAL" to be extracted to '/system' and manually set permissions to '0.0' (root:root) and '644' (rw-r-r). You might want to use "Root Explorer" to achieve this or your prefered explorer which has root capability.

The Camera Hardware is the Cake but Software algorithm is also part of the story. Through software pre/post-processing algorithm one can achieve the best out of the existing Hardware and its almost close to the Best it can get. Filters algorithms make it more Professional.
Few of of the Apps which i see has this potential and excell in Image processing. OEM Apps i exclude due to lesser configuration options.
Holo Camera PLUS (Best i have seen)
Camera360 Ultimate (this has got some excellent imaging capabilities)
Snap Camera HDR (Perfect for HDR Imaging)
Camera FV-5 (Extensive Configuration Options, This is only for PRO Users)
Camera Awesome (Good to Have)

As per the thread tittle, are there any devs currently working on GCam mod optimised for Samsung Galaxy A71? Would love to test them out and compare with stock photo app.

Just search on Google, there's quite a lot.

Works just fine. I'd say depending on the shot the HDR works better on gcam, but auto-focus seems better/faster on the native camera app. So far I'm just using the Samsung app.

i'm used MGC_7.3.018_Parrot043-v1, with realme 5 config and change awb to s5kgw1, for result its same with app stock like iso and exposure time. but. for night mode i choose gcam. because detail is very good and time to capture didnot take long time like stock night mode.

I downloaded the GCam package for another phone I think it was the A70 If if remember correctly

No, not really. Gcam also just gives 16mp. Maybe a port of the Oppo/Realme camera could? They usually have that option.

Gcam app crashes when trying to switch lenses. Also, it appears Gcam doesn't detect and utilize the 64MP sensor

This doesn't support the wide angle nor the macro lens. It doesn't seem to be a build for the a71 but for the s20.

Who cares about the crappy wide angle lens or 64mp mode? For anything but gcam snapshots with main camera I use my Fujifilm cameras instead.

I need help with using the gcam for astrophotography. Ive downloaded more than 10 version. And none worked.. another thing is when capturing nightmode, it only says to hold still. There is no shutter count down at all. Ive seen thru google that this device can actually do that star shots using gcam.

So far I haven't found any version of GCAM that works well in night mode and astrophotography. In all the variants I tested, the captures in night sight mode are worse than the night mode of the stock camera. It doesn't matter if you are in night sight or astrophotography, the capture time never exceeds 3 or 4 seconds. And the results are always mediocre. Before the A71, I had the Moto G8 Power, and depending on the version of GCAM, I was able to capture up to about 19 seconds. The results were better with the G8 Power. And both have camera 2 api level 3 enabled. The A71 needs a version of GCAM modified exclusively for it, otherwise we will never really take advantage of the photographic set. Of course, the same cannot be said for HDR + mode. Especially if Lib Patcher has been enabled. Samsung's forced post-processing disappears, and the details really get much better in GCAM. The images are just a little dark, but I believe that a custom xml will solve it.
