I have an SM-G870W (Galaxy S5 Active Canadian, Bell). How do I find out if my device
has a locked or unlocked bootloader? I found some forums/sites suggesting some codes
to enter on the phone dialer but none of them work. I am having problems installing
TWRP or CWM recovery and I am wondering if my bootloader is the culprit.
Thanks

Best way to know if your bootloader is locked is, did you but the phone from AT&T, is yes, then the bootloader is locked!
Phone is from Bell Canada. I have read threads here that mentions S5 from AT&T and Verizon have locked bootloaders.
I have not come across discussion on S5 from Canadian providers.

Is the phone a G900A
No it's a Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G870W), though I read that TWRP for the regular S5 will work on S5 active.

It might, i dint know anything about the active. Sorry bud.
It's OK man. Like I was telling someone before, I am glad I was able to root it and
disable the bloat that came with my phone. Thanks for your reply.

I think he shouldn't do that. He has an unlocked Tmobile phone. His boot loader should also be unlocked, or is able to do it very easily. If I were OP, I'd go check in T-Mobile Note3 forum. There's absolutely no reason to get anything from AT&T forum unless he want's AT&T junk such as AT&T Contacts.

well it is actually an att phone. Im just using it on Tmobile. Sorry for the confusion.
Has anyone been able to tell if the AT&T variant has a locked bootloader? Guessing it does like previous Samsung Galaxy phones on AT&T. Thanks in advance.
Seems like it. When I tried to flash the BL it just seems to fail. No useful error message though.

Thanks

I believe the answer is no....reason being is the 870a is bootloader locked...can't flash the kernel or modem of the other rom.

I think it is already unlocked I can't remember the exact steps I took but It took forever.
On boot it says custom and shows a unlocked pad so I think that means it's unlocked
I would like to find a bell lollipop rom for it, I don't want to put any att rom on it because it locks tethering and it took lots of ****ing around to get it turned back on.

The custom symbol just means that it has detected you modified your system, it means norhing, your bootloader is still locked.

My friend has a 910A At*T Note 4 - I unlocked it and her data, calls, pics, texts all work GREAT!
Now what else should I do to prepare it to get a T-Mobile Rom, as she is with T-Mobile and wants root and a custom rom on it
Thanks in advance - tried searching nothing much came up on this Topic.
N910A has a locked bootloader you cannot flash ROMS on it.

To my knowledge there is no root nor anyway to unlock the bootloader.
The phone is locked down.
That is why people who wanted root bought the N910T from tmobile and use it on AT&T.
Sorry to burst your bubble.

I unlocked my AT&T Note 4 and am trying to use it with T-Mobile but it won't register on their network. I can't even make calls, I can only get numbers off of the sim card. Any ideas on what I could do?
Can I change the rom on the phone if I wanted to without being tied to AT&T? can I download something via odin3 to make it any other ROM other than AT&T? I hope I have NOT confused the issue.
Many thanks for taking the time to answer.

No. You are carrier unlocked so you can use another carriers sim. You are not bootloader unlocked, so no custom recovery or ROMs.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to get bootloader unlocked for a SM-920A samsung galaxy s6. I hope you will answer "yes", if that is the case, please also tell me where I can get those files to accomplish that task.
Thanks again.:good::good::good:
