Hey guys first of All I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
So... I recently bought a Unlocked T-Mobile Note 5 from a friend, i'm using it with At&t and it's not blacklisted, I checked on the Tmobile page. and i've been using it for a week... A few days after buying it I rooted the phone and it started restarting a lot of times, so I decided to install another firmware to see if this fixed the issue, in this case I installed the "6.0 Marshmallow Test" that is roaming arround, at first it gave me a few problems but it had Signal, ( which it was like an hour ago when I did this ) and after 3 reboots (yes, it kept rebooting by itself) the phone got stuck "Searching" so I tried downgrading to Stock 5.1.1 COJ5 to see if this fixed anything and it didn't fixed it and also got this message that's attached below "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized softwared & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that the repair/return for this issue may have additional cost." Please if anyone can help I would appreciate it very much. Thank you everyone and Happy New Year.

No, there is no solution available at the moment. A couple of people have been able to persuade ATT to give them codes after many days of phone calls and support chat. A few have had some varying success with turbo sims that supposedly fool the phone into thinking the sim is an ATT sim, but that's it.
based on what I have read online. ATT often will unlock your phone when you are in the contract for like 6 months or a year.
I called them with my tilt 2 about a year into my contract. Tell them that I am traveling oversea and want to use the phone internationally. They gave me the code without much hassle.
Not sure if this is partially due to the fact I have been with ATT for years.
Online search also shows that ATT will often unlock almost all smartphoen for you except iPhone, so keep try them and if the CSR does not help, ask for supervisor.

The official requirements are:
1. at least 90 days into a contract
2. Have a post paid account with contract
3. Paid all bills on time.

Captivate has proven to be an exception to this. There is already a long thread about Sim Unlock. The bottom line is AT&T won't give you a unlock code for Captivate until 10 months later.

Hi jentech
have read the whole thread "SIM unlock" till yet and have not a good feeling when my captivate will arrive to contact AT&T for the unlock code.
I never has been a AT&T customer cause living outside the US and won´t be to become one so hope they could understand my problem...
Do you have an email contact for their support-center?

If you're not an AT&T customer, they typically won't help you with unlock at all. Good luck.
Not sure why there is another unlock thread, but At&T told me they would. Unlock in 90 days. I have no reason to doubt them.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Phone is unlocked now
with the awesome tool from nbs11 i unlocked my captivate today on my MAC and it worked without failure with vodafone here in germany
Bye bye AT&T
and bowsa1152 has a nice tool for PC (although slightly more complicated) it is still one click.

unlock Captivate with froyo
today i unlocked my captivate with an app called Galaxy S Unlock get it in the market very easy to do also on youtube i am running froyo 2.2, version I897ucji6 and i am rooted (need to be rooted)
Finally got the captivate to unlock and accept the tmobile sim today. Everything seems to be working fine so far. No data on the plan but using wifi til I add data. One thing I'm really curious about is.... Now that the phone is unlocked and working, If I flash a custom rom (say cognition for example) will I lose the "unlock" ?
*edit* forgot to say how I did it... I just simply flashed back to stock 2.1, master cleared, rooted, installed busybox and galaxy unlock app, used the #2 method with the unlock app and it worked. PATIENCE IS KEY! ===> It takes a good 2-4 minutes for the tmobile signal to kick in so it may seem as if the unlock failed but it just takes alot longer than the at&t signal to kick in.

You've post this already in paragon thread...simply no you are permanently unlock now the lock code inside your phone has been wiped out by the app you used.
Hello friends. I have a simple question to ask. I am on At&t and up until recently was using the 717, however, being the android fanatic that i am it just wasnt good enough so i had to go out and buy a brand new N7000 off of ebay to see what all the fuss was about. Within the first day i knew immediately. Much smoother and more fluid then the 717. Who needs the LTE anyway right i mean wont be anywhere near me for awhile so just a wasted feature as far as im concerned. Anyways the baseband version is N7000UBKK1. Im on Att and the phone was new and unlocked when i purchased it. My question is how exactly will my phone be upgraded to ics under these set of circumstances? I know that samsung and att are working on an ics release for the 717 but what happens with my phone. Im not a noob by far as ive been doing this awhile and just cant seem to find any answers. Trying to stat away from the custom roms and leaks but will that be my only option. Any advice will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hello Jack, my N7000 had the same baseband and though I live in Venezuela, a few weeks back I only had to connect my note to Kies (this is the one I installed: Kies_2.3.2.12054_18_2) it downloaded and installed Stock ICS without any issues (even when my phone was rooted).
Hope it works for you.
Regards.
Kies ota update
Thanks for the advice however i have registered it on my computer through kies and was unsuccessful in finding an update. Upon setting my phone up for the first time on the network i got a system message saying that it was registering and then after it was done i noticed that at&t was branded onto the device. Had a little problem setting up the new apn but now everything working well. As you said though your device has already been updated through ota officially maybe this is somehow connected with the carrier your device is registered to. Being that mine wasnt technically designated to att because they had a different version of the model will mine now be left out in the cold because of this.

Thats odd. As your my device is unbranded/unlocked, but never got "branded" after network registration, I work here with Movistar (a Telefonica subsidiary). Never got an OTA update, no matter how many time I checked for it and on june 11th, I plugged the phone to my PC opened Kies and it showed an update avaiable.
I think yours should also be able to get the update. Regretfully I can't try for now since I'm running Paranoid v0.4
Hope you can solve this easily.
Well i will certainly look up that software version for my note. I may or may not be running the same kies version that was previously installed with my at&t note so that may be my problem. From what you were saying there is no network logo on your lockscreen or drop down menu? I did notice that when i first turned my phone on it was set up in spanish along with all the included included accessories so it does make sense that this would be the south american version. Accordingly what version of the official ics update did you get? Would there be any potential problems with me doing a manual flash of this rom that you can forsee. All that talk about the infected ics roms and kernels has got me really worried about flashing anything unofficial ics wise but i am an impatient man when it comes to waiting on these sluggish carriers to release updates. With att there is no telling if youll ever see an update. Please provide me with the official version of ics that is designated for my version and i will flash it. Thanks
I'm actually having the same problem. I bought mine from the UK Amazon (I'm from the UK as suggested) and mine seemed to have been imported from Spain because it came in a Spanish box. The supplier was Samsung and many people had reviewed the product. I just don't seem to be getting an update for my phone. I've waited and waited, and now I'm hearing people are being updated to Jellybean :/
Hi guys im new here.
I just wanted ask something, i bought a galaxy note 3 here in the Philippines with model number n900a, I understand it is from at&T, it is now factory unlocked, when i tried to wifi tether it always says "invalid sim, mobile data not available." Im using a globe network here and confirmed that LTE is working, searched for some fix here but it only leads me to at&t note 3 using a t-mobile sim.
I already rooted my phone which is still running under 4.3 via kingoroot, here are my phone details.Baseband version N900AUCUBNB4,build numbver JSS15J. I would appreciate any help and any guides what to do to be able to use this phone for wifi tethering. sorry for being noob here. Thanks.
Try using the forum search for "Wi-Fi tether". Google even works! It's faster to find your answer this way instead of posting a redundant question and waiting for an answer. The forum gets cluttered and messy the way you did it.
You'll probably find that freezing the system app "TetheringProvision" works.
Since your new please read the forum rules again.

Hi guys,
I have been reading through the forum trying to understand everything related to the T-Mobile locked LG G4.
I've got a few questions.
My story in short.
Got a brand new G4 H811VK shipped to me from LG instead of a bricked EU version of G4 I returned. The new phone is locked for T-Mobile, my own fault (they asked me what operator and I choose T-Mobile out of the blue). So this phone has never been on the T-Mobile network and I don't have an account with them.
I contacted T-Mobile and they said they couldn't help me and asked me to talk to LG. LG said they couldn't help me and asked me to talk to T-Mobile. I'm in the center of some loop with a completely locked and unusable phone (I'm in Europe btw.).
So my questions are:
1. Is there any known way to unlock my phone? (I tried swiftunlocks.com but it didn't work)
2. If no to no. 1, is there any other way I can use the phone? Flash a custom rom etc.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and best regards,

Hey guys!
Im new in the forum, and first of all thankyou for all the work that u guys do for the world! :good::good::good:
Well, ill try to be brief.
I was visiting the US, and i bought a NOTE 8. At the beggining was from xfinity. i got it unlocked b4 coming here, so i tried it with a t-mobile sim, and the whole OS turned into an t-mobile OS, but same thing, only emergency calls. but i was flying so couldnt do anything.
i checked if the phone was stolen or so, but its totally clear. so i came here, and its still the same, i took it to samsung, and they said that doesnt work because its an american phone and the frequency is dif. so i thought of flashing it to a dif region, but my phone got updated by mistake to bootloader v4.
so the question is, can i still flash if the rom is also bootloader v4? just a dif zone? i dont care if it has carrier official rom.
thanks
take care
