restore data from unrooted xperia Z C6603 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
is there any possibility to restore back contents from phone after factory reset?
i checked couple of softwares online such as fonepaw and jihosoft, both on trial and not willing to pay 50$ for a failure.
plus, they both require the phone to be rooted to be able to scan more but i've been trying since 2 days with no luck.
Thanks in advanced.
Edit: it's a 5.1.1 , build 10.7.A.0.222

OK so you have to root your phone and then install an app from play store called GT Recovery

Ok great.... Will give it a try.
Will it be able to restore back applications and its contents?
Such as whatsapp and the relevant chat?

You could flash a tot, delete/uninstall SU, or use any of the AIO's. Flashing the tot is the only sure fire way to get the 'out of the box' freshness.

why do you need to un-root it for your upgrade? They do not actually take your old phone nor do they really care. Your contacts are either backed up through VZW's website, google, or other.
Just back up your phone and go in and upgrade. You do not ever actually need to present your old phone. They only need your phone number.

Well, here's the deal. I think you might have not wiped data when you upgraded. If you did, ignore the following.
If you didn't wipe data, you can either do a factory reset and see if it fixes your problem, or, root your phone, and delete the /data/misc/wifi folder with a root file manager, and then reboot, and check your wifi. (You will lose all saved wifi access points).
I don't know which version of JB you upgraded to, but for rooting I'd recommend you check the towelroot thread in the General section, it might be your easiest option for rooting. I haven't used it personally, but it seems to be working.
First thing you should do also, is read the Stock FTF thread and more importantly the All-in-one thread.

Many thanks

That sounds great guys.
How about a quick "how-to" for the rest of us. TWRP, root etc. if used, or at least how you went about flashing the stock ?

according to a search in Google its not possible to be retail and have a demo because its 2 different ROMS.
you can use TWRP to wipe everything Data, Dalvik and System.
Then use the backup.
This are tips so please use at your own risk.

dont know what to say to that, however, you can try this:
http://repo.xposed.info/
install framework (use flash mode) and look for module BootManager. You can choose witch apps will run at system start. Disable demo app.
Make sure you follow all instructions and good luck.
let us know how it goes.

need help restoring my data to my new non-rooted device

so I was able to get the backup through titanium backup, both the Apk and the data files, however, I failed restoring them on my new phone is there any answer to my problem.
the application that I'm trying to move from one phone to the other is Whatsapp, and no I can't reach the old number since I lost the sim card and I can't get the message they sent to confirm the number "( any help, please .
I think..
if you don't have the sim card of your old number, your whatsapp account can't be restored, unless you request new sim card with same old number from your carrier..

If you need everything and your new phone is non rooted, then I think it's impossible, because titanium need root access
is your old devices is Xperia Z?
there is an alternative app named Helium that could backup and restore without root, but I guess it's not really working on Z
do you still have your old devices?
some people say that Astro file manager have ability to backup file, but I never try it
hope it help

Is it possible to unlock bootloader without loosing data?

So I wanted to root my phone, and i figured out that it is impossible to root my phone without unlocking the bootloader, but I don't really want to loose my data, so I want to know if it is possible to do it without loosing any data?
nope
You cannot. Once you unlock the bootloader, it will reset everything. Have a backup through hi suites, or inbuilt backup app on usb/sd card etc.
Copy the images, WhatsApp images, picture folder, hwthemes folder manually if downloaded themese, WhatsApp images are important. DCIM full folder is your camera+fb images. And hisuites backup your app+data so no worries. It backup your contacts as well. Use sms and call log backup app to backup sms and call logs.
However story ia different when you are rooted. You can just use titanium backup for complete backup.
No way man.

I'm currently installing Android SDK right now.
Now I am ready to unlock the bootloader, but is there any way to revert to factory settings if something goes wrong? Like a original ROM or Firmware download?

Ok. I have viewed a guide on how to root the phone, and it said that there is no download for the original update.app file for Huawei eRecovery. Also is there any way to backup to computer using twrp, because im not sure i will be able to store the backup file on my local storage.

extract update.app from firmware, when you got twrp installed all your data is gone already. just follow guide and you'll be fine.
But how do I extract the update.app?

Just save the firmware zip to pc, sd card simple. You may need it when messed up..
For twrp, refer the guide properly and files in my signature for honor 5C repository.
