Hey guys. I'm still on stock but fully rooted and s-off and cwm. Any idea how to flash the standard lockscreen? Hate the HTC one.

Try to rename htclockscreen.apk to htclockscreen.apk1 in system/app folder. I don't know but maybe you also should rename htclockscreen.odex. And reboot.

Root explorer won't let me change the name. How did you do it?

You have to change /system/app in root explorer to Mount r/w instead of r/o at the top right. Hope this helps.

Renamed both, and rebooted DHD. Still Sense lock?
And yes, Root, S-OFF and CWM.

Strange. What Rom are you on? Worked for me just renaming lockscreen.apk! Are the names still changed after reboot?

If you change the lock screen does the alarm still work? I remember on the Desire Modaco ROMS if you disabled the HTC lockscreen then the alarm couldn't be disabled without a battery pull.

Bah, I've been wanting to get rid of the HTC lock screen since day 1. I eagely entered "mv htclockscreen.apk htclockscreen.apk1" to be hit with the read only error. Is there a easy way to get write permission in /system/app? The results from Google are rather confusing and I didn't want to enter them directly on the phone with the little keyboard.

If its not changing then the phone is not rooted properly or root explorer doesn't have super user permissions. Open super user and check root explorer is showing in the list. Maybe try running visionary again?

Install root explorer from market. Your phone must be rooted for this to work though. Have you rooted your phone?

It is in super users. I have full root with s-off, cwr and can run custom roms. It lets me change it to r/w in root but not app folder of root....
This sucks

Why not do as i did ? Install the lockscreen you want that autostarts and works with your phone, then uninstall the htclockscreen with titanium backup. Works perfect for me and i never have to see that ugly htclockscreen again Im using widgetlocker and i think it's the best out there, nothing even comes close to it, it's well worth the money.

Do HTC Alarms work? And picking up the phone and stuff remains the same?
Nice one. Removed in titanium, reset now has stock one. Screw lock screen apps though to laggy for me

MoDaCo ROM seems to have the google lockscreen, so I suggest you check his ROM out if you want it so much. =)

There is no way to turn the alarm off!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=643929
This fixes the alarm problem (and you can turn off the HTC alarm by setting off an alarm with it). No choice of alarm tone though, I did quite like having soothing music wake me up...
And as I discovered last night the screen doesn't time out.

I agree, top app IMO
Any idea how to replace the HTC Lockscreen with a "empty" one so you don't have to unlock twice if you use a unlock pattern?
Hi guys. Just followed the guide on how to root LQ2 and all went well I think. Whats the quickest and easiest way to check that I have root? Super user is installed and opens.

Just look if you have "Superuser" or "Super SU" installed.
You can download titanium backup for example and check if it requests root access. You can also try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck
Guys thanks for quick reply. I downloaded root explorer and it asked for access. This was a bit of a daft thread but I had a total mind blank on easiest way to check.it.

You should be able to paste a file to the system folder if your note has root. Use a program like ES file explorer to enable root and write on the system folder.
This is the one thing I am having a problem with actualy. Trying to move the S3 contacts into system folder but get failed message. Any idea?

I've rooted my Moto X, but ROM Toolbox does not seem to be able to change the system font.
Has anyone had success doing this?
I'm sorry, please delete this.
I wasn't booting into the writable "recovery" mode.

Even though you have rooted your phone, sometimes, or all the time, the system is not mounted as rw to accept changes from any other app. So you have to mount the system or use root apps like System RW/RO to mount the system and then use ROM Toolbox to change system settings.

Check to make sure you have root, Root Checker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en If you don't have root post a screenshot, so I can see what you got (just hold the power and home buttons to take a screenshot).

Basically, can i use ADB/bootloader (and/or the method in the above link) to install TWRP and SU? Or am I in the total wrong direction?
I'm pretty sure this will only work on moto devices pre Droid Ultra/mini/maxx

Oh OK. My bad, I didn't check the date it was published lol

Yes if you are on KitKat 4.4.4. Unless you want to try kingroot. Keep in mind though that neither method disables write protection so you are limited with what you can do with it.
Also keep in mind that kingroot is only temporary (in some cases lasting only about 15 minutes), and oftentimes causes system instability. So basically it's useless unless you really want to see a SU prompt on your screen for some reason.
