Has anyone been able to figure out how to go about fixing the internet lag that Marshmallow brought? Any app that uses internet seems to lag for a long time before actually beginning to load, including web pages, play store downloads, etc. I haven't been able to figure out yet how to correct that.

no internet lag here at all, on marshmallow. actually, any lag that youre having would most likely be because of your provider, and not because of marshmallow. is your apn correct?
same here. .no internet lag..
I experience the same lag, especially on the two apps he mentions. Strange because I don't see that on any of my PC's, laptops or internet TV's so I don't think it's a provider issue. I have checked my APN's and they are correctly set. It's not horrible with the browser, a five second delay before loading but sometimes the play store has to be stopped and restarted (or turn off wifi) to connect.

Same issue then! And Simms, I believe my apn is correct, it does this for me on WiFi too and same as said here in this quoted post, I don't experience this issue on any of my other devices in the house, just my Nexus! Not sure exactly what it may be. And yea, it's like a 5 second delay, but I remember how fast it used to be on lollipop, and that's a drag! Lol
No issue here either.

odd then. maybe its because of your "set up"? if you have twrp recovery, would you make a backup then try a factory reset. see if it happens from the beginning or not. you can restore your back up after.
same issue and im bone stock, If I have some time i will be trying a few different ROMs over the few days until I find "the one" so I will report back my findings. I'm on tmo and have the issue whether im on wifi, lte, H+, or H.

I have tried this and even in 100% stock. Unlocked bootloader still and same lag. Kind of seems like only Marshmallow brought this, possible in the radio file it comes with. I'm stumped about why. I'm running newest cataclysm with multirom and cm 13 on secondary. Using newest elite kernel. Multirom TWRP is my recovery. Also, it is safe to install Lollipop radio and use with Marshamllow? Can you mix radios like that? I may try that next if possible!
I don't know if this is an issue with me or chrome app. I'm on tmobile and sometimes it lags on wifi as well. Haven't tried a different browser.

Now I wonder if this is only affecting people on T-Mobile, as I am also on T-Mobile. Could it be the WiFi calling feature? I have this on because the service at my house is awful! Could be the culpit!
im on tmo and now that i flashed chroma the issue has not presented again, I will report back after more thorough testing.

The wifi calling is not on in Chroma and it does not seem to have any of the issues I was experiencing on stock so (by deductive reasoning) I am blaming the wifi calling... but why?

It could very well be the WiFi calling then! Which sucks because I pretty much rely on that at home, service is bad here. I wonder when that will be fixed!
Search Google for marshmallow data stalls. It's a very weird bug, turning your screen on and off is the only thing that helps.
I Flashed a cm13 rom and it is gone for me now. Maybe try that and see if it works for you? You could always nandroid anyways if it didn't fix it.

I have CM13 installed as a secondary rom using multirom, but haven't used it enough to really test that! I'll look into that! And so it's a known bug then, seems like some have this issue and some don't, which I find weird!

i just purchased a nexus 6 and installed marsh. i am also on TMOUS and i get slow loads on browsers and social media apps. Instagram and Facebook as well as with both Chrome and Dolphin when accesssing any webpage. ive been toggling with the APN and surprisingly turning the screen off then on shows minimal success. Page loading reminds me of when i had Nextel running 2G service; its that slow or times out.
However i do not get this on Wifi.
I had an issue similar myself. Speed via speed test were crazy slow too, even when in LTE. My fix was very simple though. I flash the factory image from Google and booted first time. Then factory data reset and flashed radio before booting, suddenly all was working again. However my issue wasn't app related but rather system wide, also WiFi was just fine. I've read somewhere that certain providers limit speeds when phone looks like it is a PC to prevent people from tethering. APNS would normally solve this issue.
If I recall correctly it was from "Sprint" and all providers using their bands.

Hey all,
since a couple of days I have a problem with my wifi, it keeps switching on and off (I can see the checkbox activating and deactivating, every couple of seconds, at the moment it is unchecked and says "error")
as I said, the wifi worked before
I am running cyanogen 7 (http://android.doshaska.net/cm7) on Milestone
- But I have also tried MIUI, with the same problem
does issue sound familiar to anyone?
Maybe it is an app which force turns my wifi on/off, is there any way to check which one it is (as far as I know I don't have an of them, eg juice defender, tasker installed)
Many thanks
Have you tried other WiFi networks? Because the same error being reproduced across two different ROMs seems a little unlikely.
Well, the problem is that my wifi doesn't stay on long enough (just a couple of seconds) to scan/connect to any network.

So it isn't a problem connecting to a network, it's a problem of the wifi not even being able to turn on?
Well "technically" it does turn on, but it switches off immediately

wow, i just logged in to search for this issue myself. I have that same issue across multiple roms also. The one that did work was the Telus Lite Eclair. I liked that one, but of course I wanted to check out others. Each one was the same as you describe. Wifi scans, disconnects, scans, in a loop.
I have done searches on google for wifi disconnect loop android, and seen some stuff about kernals and stuff that is over my head at the moment. If some one has an idea on how to get it working that would be great.
I wipe before any install, I've went back to stock and it works, everytime I went to the Telus Lite one it also always worked. I dont know if theres a clue there or not?
Im on an Telus milestone in Canada, on Telus network if that makes a difference.
And since I think this is my first real post, Thanks for the work guys.
Not sure if this would work, but this is the first result that popped up: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/koush/75782-wifi-disconnect-loop-cm6-final.html
EDIT: People are saying that Hidden SSIDs and MAC filtering can cause problems when trying to connect to the WiFi network. Try forgetting the network, making the network visible(protected if you wish) and reboot the phone and try again.
ok, time for a stupid question...
where do I find suitable kernels?
I can't find anything about this (roms and kernel tweaking is a is pretty well documented though)

hmmm, good to hear you figured it out.
I just went back to stock and guess what? still nothing
maybe I'll try that rom and see
On my stock nexus 6 (not rooted) I always have a poor WiFi signal. If I'm right next to the router I'm OK, but in the next room it's an extremely low signal and always slow. My data signal is always weaker as well. Whenever I'm running a custom ROM like CM 12 or even other custom stock roms my WiFi signal is very strong even further away. Its not my router because the phone does it anywhere. I'm just wondering if anyone else has these issues running completely stock or a fix or something. Thank you.

It would help a bit if you mentioned what software revision your stock ROM is. Also, is this just WiFi or are you having mobile data issues too?

I just got my nexus last Thursday on Verizon. Data didn't seem right to me either. Had issues activating the phone, slow page loads on both Wi-Fi and data, dropped calls. Went back to the store, they insisted on swapping sims and sending me home to try it. Waste of time. So I went back today and swapped for another phone. It seems some better, but still not right. Certainly not like my note 3 was before. And they were even known for radio issues... Mine is straight out of the box, no mods, no apps yet, no root, etc. Running 5.1, LMY47E
Sorry, no answers to offer (yet anyway). Just letting you know your not alone. I usually wait a week or so before rooting and romming a new phone to let the new wear off. In a week, if that fixes it, I'll be glad to leave a rom on it

1) update PRL and device configuration
2) use the data dialer reset code

What are those steps?
I am not on Sprint, I am using Vodafone in The Netherlands and I got this weak data connection problem.
Well, actually it is weird. Sometimes, the phone went to "G" because it cannot connect to 3G/HSDPA. But, it does this quite often in "certain places" where it's not like this when I got the it for the first time.
And some times also, when I get the phone to a place with strong signal, it has difficulty to regain 3G/HSDPA. I saw the "3G or H icon" glitching, trying to connect .... disconnect ... connect ... disconnect.
Then I must reboot the phone, after that it's normal.
Not often though.
I am running stock 5.1 (OTA updated via adb), not-rooted, but unlocked.

No, sorry. Some of those codes I linked are universal but I believe the data reset code is specifically for Sprint. Look for the AT&T specific thread in the general forum and see if there's anything mentioned there.
I bought the Nexus 6 (blue, 64gb) the day one, in November and since that day I noticed random reboots in a particular situation. When I switch to a WiFi network to another it shuts down and so I have to turn it on. When it turns on I have lost all my WiFi networks configurations, so passwords, dhcp settings, etc.
Random reboots rarely happen also in camera/gallery apps.
I tried to send it back to google and I received a new nexus. The first one was produced in June 2014, the new one in December 2014. The issue is still there. [emoji17] I've also tried to update to 5.1 but no resolution.
I have rooted, installed twrp, decrypted both my nexus 6 with toolkit.
How can I solve the problem? I was very happy with this phone.
Try using it completely stock and see what happens. I'd say chances are that if you set both up the same, it's something you're doing and not the hardware on 2 different phones.
But other people have made the same basic mods on their nexus and their phone has not this kind of issue.
Is it every network? Maybe try a stable custom ROM to see if it happens there too. Could be a problem with specific networks or even apps. Troubleshooting is the key. First try full wipe, no restored Apps.
I could be as simple as an app the developer has not updated since gingerbread or something stupid like that.
Is there a way to find the malicious app?
There definitely *was* a bug causing loss of wifi networks, and I think there may also have been a reboot involved there (not sure if we rebooted it manually, or if it just did it on its own as a response to a wpa_supplicant crash...). It was across the board for Android 5.0 though, not limited to Nexus 6. I saw my wife's Nexus 5 do it once. Never actually had it happen on my 6.
I'm not sure if this bug was fixed or not, since it wasn't something we tried to reproduce, and only happened once. The bug is definitely related to wpa_supplicant, since that is the only program that actually interacts with its configuration file (which is where the wifi configurations are actually stored).
As far as galleries go, you're not giving much to guess by. I certainly haven't seen galleries cause reboots like that. Maybe you are using a bad one?
Try this gallery; https://github.com/lbdroid/Android-Binaries/blob/master/Gallery2.apk
That is the actual AOSP gallery, modified to install as a standalone application. The source code is in another repository on my github.
*note: it will not do you any good at all to swap out your phone, since there is no indication that you are experiencing a hardware issue.
But why other people doesn't experience this problem that is related to WiFi? All people use WiFi and every time. Is there a way to fix the WPA_supplicant issue? Maybe a custom ROM?
My first n6 had also an hw issue, I think, because before it rebooted it gave me some little "buzz" from the top speaker.

all people use WiFi is an incorrect statement. you can say most ppl use wifi, but all would never happen. I hate using WiFi and NEVER use it except when its absolutely necessary. ive probably used WiFi 2 times on my n6 since getting my n6 in November, and there's no WiFi issues here.

Yes, start with stock and install a few apps at a time until you get the problem. Given the fact that you have 2 different phones experiencing the same problem, it is much more likely that it is something software related rather than hardware (though I suppose it could be possible if you're really unlucky ).

You said that it happens when you change from one wifi network to another. Most people don't do that. Most people have one wifi network at a time and don't change it.
There is also a huge difference between wifi network configurations... A/B/N/AC, frequency, bandwidth, multiple-bands, encryptions, etc.
My first n6 had also an hw issue, I think, because before it rebooted it gave me some little "buzz" from the top speaker.

I noticed that WiFi stops working on my new G4 pretty often. The WiFi icon is on, and the connection is "up", but the data transmission stops working. I see the top arrow blink (is that transmit?) but the bottom arrow doesn't come up anymore. Trying to do anything fails and times out.
To fix, turning the WiFi off and back on makes it all work again.
Anyone else experience this problem? I know @jonathan3579 reports the same issue.
I am connected to 5 Ghz using an Asus RT-N66 running Merlin firmware. I have no issues with any of my other devices.
Using the "Switch to mobile data" option helps a bit by falling back on LTE when the WiFi stops working.

I had not noticed it at work, but I only got on the WiFi yesterday for a little bit. This morning it failed on me, so, that's two for two. Haven't used it in many places.
The hotspot works great though. I tether an iPod Touch in my car automatically whenever I drive and I haven't noticed any issues there.

Lollipop on the G4 maybe, but I have used a Nexus 6, a Moto X and a Dell Venue 7840, all running Lollipop, without issues. The G4 is the only one that has this issue. I never tested my old G3 on this network with Lollipop, I sold it before the update rolled out.

I switched to 2.4 ghz and WiFi calling appears to be staying connected. My provider is Oceanic Time Warner and my router is T-Mobile cell spot.
Fingers crossed and thanks for all the help.
Did these wifi problems start after root?
Mine were happening before root, I think. I switched to T-Mobile cell spot router right before I rooted because my old router was regularly dropping connections, and I have been paying attention more since I rooted. I am also caring for 11 month old twins, so things are kind of a blur. What I am saying is I might not be the most reliable source. I can say that switching from 5ghz to 2.4ghz seems to have solved my WiFi issue.
Hey guys, I had posted a while back saying that for some reason, after flashing the new build of Marshmallow to my Nexus 6, the load times for web pages and just about everything else seems to be a bit slower than usual. I had said at the end of the post that it was fixed, but now the problem is arising again. Is anyone noticing long load times with all apps that use internet? Web pages load slower, the Facebook app takes much longer to load pictures and posts, Skype took longer to login and show everyone's profile pics etc. Never had this problem before on lollipop!
EDIT: Also, when I switch between my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi bands, it shows a push notification that says that this WiFi signal has no internet access, and then it connects just fine after a few more seconds. This is odd. Maybe just a buggy first run of Marshmallow?

It's not loading really at all, but that's also due to my LTE coverage being awful in my area, that's always been bad haha so no change there. My other devices in the house are working just fine on my network, the Nexus 6 however seems to load slower, and it's only now that I'm on Android 6.0! Is it working fine for you?
EDIT: Just an update here, hours later, it may be my internet connection, possibly. But I'm not 100% sure on that either. If nobody else is having this issue, it may just be. Like I said though, it seems to be working fine with my other devices!
EDIT 2: http://imgur.com/gallery/TGiCU55 This is a speed test I did on my phone, I have 30Mbps internet and that shows!

I've seen several other people mention slow net speeds on M as well but I've not noticed it yet. The WiFi code of M caused issues awhile back on some previous builds of HellsCore kernel too. I dont know the specifics of it though.

So there was a definite change in the radio for this build then. More than a subtle change. I wonder if it's just not perfect, I realize having a Nexus means getting the first run of all Android software, but I wonder if this is a bug in the build, or a radio that could use some work. But it does sometimes take longer to load things! I'm on very fast WiFi too!

I honestly don't know and would like to hear more specifics. I can tell you I've seen comments on this board the last couple fo days talking about massive WiFi battery drain as well.
I only know HellsCore adopted the newer M code for WiFi in his kernel and people were affected. He then had to create two builds of the kernel. One with newer WiFi code that didn't cause any issues for people and another build with the older WiFi code from L. Have you checked his G+ site?

No I haven't! I'll check that out! So that leads me to believe that it was a change in the new radio! He had to change it to code used in L radio so that may be it! Thanks for the info! I'll look into that some more!
Is it possible to flash the lollipop radio to test? I'd think you could. But I'm not 100%.

So you're saying if I flash the radio file from a 5.1.1 stock image, marshmallow will boot and work correctly? I might try that!

Hey guys! An update here, I just read through another post that was about this same issue, and someone in there said that downloading DNset from the play store fixes this issue! It changes your WiFi settings from ipv4/ipv6 to just ipv4. I did it and it's working so far, but I'm going to give it some more testing and see if it fixed! Try it out

Were you able to solve your slow page load issue?
I having same issue coming out of the box with a new N6P.
On TMO & Wifi - my old OPO had no issues.
But seems at least on LTE about town, my pages for social media & browsers are sloooooow.

Hey dude, well honestly it didn't seem to fix it. Placebo effect lol What I think it comes down to is just Marshmallow being rough around the edges at this point because I have stock rooted Marshmallow 6.0 on my Nexus 6 and have cyanogenmod 12.1 installed as a secondary ROM, When booted into cyanogenmod, pages load much faster and it's more responsive as far as I can tell! So, it must be a bug with Marshmallow! Keep in mind cyanogenmod 12.1 uses Android 5.1.1 as a base!
