Hi, I have an htc one m7 verizon. I am currently running nusense 7.8. I wanted to update to v8.0. Anyway I go to recovery from the menu and the screen goes black like it is going to the team win logo but it goes back to the white screen that says entering recovery. It stays on that screen until I power plus volume down. I am confused because twrp loaded fine. I have tried cwm as well. no recovery software will load. The phone boots to nusense 7.8 fine. Anyone know what would cause recovery software not to load?
Try flashing the latest version of TWRP through Fastboot to see if the issue resolves. Make sure you use TWRP for the Verizon M7.

I agree re-flash TWRP for Verizon
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7vzw
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-m7wlv.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Thanks for throwing up the link clsA. I was about to do that a minute ago when my phone died. Lol.
I will give twrp 2.8.0.1 a try. I have tried several versions but not that one.
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-m7wlv.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader[/QUOTE]
I tried the above and I am still getting stuck with the white screen green htc logo and entering recovery at the top. I am happy with nusense 7.8 except for youtube not working. I do have some backups that are useless when twrp will not load. Maybe it is time to ruu this phone.
I installed the ruu VZW.M7.5.28.605.2.PN0731IMG.zip. It installed ok. I am still s off and rooted. I used flashify to flash twrp 2.8.0.1. My phone still will not load a recovery app.......I wonder if this is a hardware issue?
Anybody have any ideas? everything on my phone works accept the ability to load the recovery software. Like I said I was able to install an RUU file with fastboot. I would really like to get twrp working so I can backup and restore again.
I think I found my issue. I am pretty sure my recovery partition is hosed. The command fastboot format recovery fails. I get this message:
Formatting is not supported for filesystem with type 'raw.
Anybody know how to rebuild a corrupted recovery partition?

recovery partition is a raw partition, the only EXT4 partitions are /system, /cache, and /data
can you copy/paste your command prompt output as you do the fastboot commands that clsA gave you.

Have you tried turning s on, relocking bootloader, running RUU, doing factory reset in Stock recovery and then unlocking and installing TWRP? It is worth a shot I assure you. I had problems with TWRP about a month back and this solved it for me.
My VS980, I had updated to 39A through the manual OTA method, rooted with the new LG root method, everything worked fine, until I flashed a wrong boot.img file using the dd command. Now the boot screen says Secure booting error, and it doesnot boot. I tried getting into the fastboot mode (I erased the laf partition after rooting), but fastboot won't execute any commands
Code:
sh-3.2# fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

sending 'recovery' (9712 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.356s]

^C
sh-3.2#
and it waits for ever at writing recovery, I waited close to an hour before doing ^C.
I didnot install custom recovery yet, and I could get only to factory reset on the recovery screen (using Vol Down + power)
Can someone help me out to get out of this brick?

Hi HueyT, Thanks for the reply, but currently I don't have download mode, as I erased laf partition. Now my g2 boots to fastboot mode, with Vol Up + USB Cable. If I can enter the stock recovery menu, then I can try sideloading any files but that too is not working.

You need to restore your laf partition. I personally don't have experience doing this, but it looks like there are a couple threads detailing how to do it in fastboot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477595
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2779007
Instead of using the files included in those threads, downloaded the 39A bootstack zip from the resource thread and extract out the relevant files needed
Thanks for the reply.
I tried all of the following fastboot commands, using the 39a bootstack (ofc, one by one, waited for almost 15-20 min before cancelling the command):
Code:
fastboot erase laf
fastboot flash laf laf.img
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot -w
All the above commands stop at writing "****" ... section.
Basically the problem is that, the partitions are not getting modified by the fastboot in any way, something like a locked bootloader preventing fastboot from writing anything to the partitions.
I flashed the Android Wear 2.0 OTA update and now the watch won't boot. I get the "Device Software Can't Be Checked For Corruption" error and it's telling me to go to g.com/ABH.
It won't go into recovery mode, but will go into fastboot mode. I grabbed the stock images from here, and flashed the stock boot, system, and recovery imgs, but the error persists.

Am I screwed? Or is there something I could do to recover?
Thanks.

Wait for about 10 seconds when the warning appears. The watch will continue it's boot after 10 secs.

I thought I had initially. I hadn't turned the watch on for a while, but decided to get it set up yesterday when I saw news of the 2.0 update hit. It originally had the first firmware on it and wouldn't update to 2.0 (adb would fail to find the watch).
So, I flashed MWF76 from the link in my earlier post. And that worked properly -- the watch booted normally, set up the apps, the right build number was showing, etc.
When that was done I tried to flash the 2.0 update again. And this time the watch was being recognized properly with adb. The flash procedure seemed to go without a hitch, but I got the g.co/ABH error on first boot.
And if you let the watch sit for 10 seconds, it only boots into Fastboot mode. You can't enter recovery. If you try to enter recovery with the vol-down+power button combo, you see recovery for a split second and then it goes right to fastboot.
At the moment it appears the bootloader is locked again.
Still experimenting. Hoping someone with more knowledge may be able to help.
Fastboot oem unlock reports that the bootloader is already unlocked.
Tried flashing all of the IMGs in MFW76 and these flash successfully:
boot
system
recovery
modem
asusfw
But when trying to flash these, the flash fails because it says the bootloader is locked. Trying fastboot oem unlock again reports the bootloader is unlocked, but still can not flash these...
devinfo
factory
misc
modemst1
modemst2
oem
splash
Tried fastboot flashing unlock_critical, and the watch shows part of a message, but I can't see if there's anything to do on...pressing the top or bottom buttons changes the color of the bg.

Your right, this file is not fastboot compatible. (my error)
This is what I used and flashed when I upgraded to v2.0 Android Wear.
To flash this you need to use ADB SIDELOAD filename.zip.
OR if you can boot into twrp you can install it from there too.
Good luck, have a great day!

I'd try to get the watch running 1.5 first via fastboot.
See my post in the other thread linked here, specifically my edits.
I did boot, recovery, then system, and did "fastboot format userdata" instead of "fastboot erase userdata"
I have the same issue. Zenwatch 3 just boots to Fastboot Mode after manual update to Android Wear 2.0 . I can`t enter recovery mode and try to reflash it.
Do you have any ideas, what should I do?

Sorry but this doesn`t help.
My watches are booting only in Fastboot mode.
So i do next steps:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot format userdata
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot
After reboot, watches still boots straight in Fastboot mode.
Maybe I should flash something from AW 2.0 to repair the watch ?

You must have flashed the wrong boot.img (which is the kernel)
Make 100% sure that you are flashing the correct kernel and
don't issue the command "fastboot format userdata".
All you need is:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
then oem lock bootloader
What was the exact filename of the ziip file
which had the 3 IMG files in it?
Here is the link for the zip file which contains the correct IMG files in it:

and issue this fastboot command: " fastboot reboot "
Don't flash anything else and don't format anything...

Hi,
I just purchased a used Xperia Z1 C6903 and I am trying to put the latest Nougat Resurrection Remix on it. I need to get TWRP going first which I got stuck at trying to flash it.
I was able to get the phone downgraded to 14.1.G.1.534 using flash tool (ver 0.9.24.3). I did this following the guide here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439328.
I was able to root it using Kingoroot.
I was able to unlock the bootloader using flashtool. Using *#*#7378423#*#*, the phone now reports Bootloader Unlocked: yes. See attached screenshot.
The part that I got stuck at is trying to flash TWRP in Fastboot. The command lines and error are below. The main error being "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)"
I don't have an option in developer's options to "Unlock OEM bootloader". I read some other Xperia users being able to fix this problem by checking this.
I am running Windows 8.1. I am relatively sure that my drivers are correct. I had gotten a "drivers too old" error before in Flashtools but I was able to correct it by reinstalling new drivers.
I tried having debugging checked and unchecked before going into Fastboot and made no difference.
Tried both twrp-2.8.7.0-honami and twrp-3.0.2.0-honami with no success. Tried shortening file name to trp.img with no success.
Tried different 2 different adb files around the web with no success.
I read somewhere someone mentioned briefly that TWRP can be flashed using Flashtools. Is that true? I wasn't able to find a full guide for it.
Any help would be appreciated!
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery trp.img

Well I was able to get TWRP on there by installing the XY Dual Recovery. The problem with it is that the Resurrection Remix's installation instruction says to use TWRP 3x or higher. TWRP on XY is only at 2.8.7.0. I couldn't find a TWRP 3x flashable zip file for Honami and TWRP wouldn't flash TWRP 3x IMG file I found. Fastboot is still giving me the same Command Not Allowed error.
Any ways, I went ahead and flashed RR with 2.8.7.0. When I tried to flash GAPPs after it says there is insufficient space. I have at least 9GB+ internal storage. So not sure what the deal is there.
I also lost Dual Recovery and root after first RR boot.
Looking into getting re-rooted and reinstalling XY Dual Recovery now.. And then flashing GAPPS after.
Anyone know what the consequences are for installing RR with a lower rev of TWRP?
So the RR Rom does have root but it just doesn't have apps root. Only ADB root. I cant flash the su add on from Lineage's site since I lost recovery. I ended up FTF back to stock and then reflashed everything, the ROM then pico version of GAPPs (pico worked) and then the su addon. The su addon had an error when flashing in TWRP.
Any ways, long story short the whole thing didn't work. Still stuck with RR Without recovery. Su addon didnt work from the flash. And for whatever reason my SIM is not detected and I lost my IMEI in RR. I read that this is a known issue with C6902 but I have the C6903 and I had confirmed this through the service menu before ROM flash. Maybe problems with flashing RR without the latest TWRP.
The Command Not Allowed is still an issue that I dont know how to resolve. So I still can't flash newer version of TWRP.
Any help would be appreciated....
I guess I will try to find a ROM that 's compatible with TWRP 2.8.7.0.
OK! I figured out what the Command Not Allowed problem is!
I've been following the flash guides from a few websites. And they all reference this syntax for flashing TWRP.
Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img.
This syntax didn't work for me. All those websites properly copycat each other.
That syntax is either incorrect or just didnt work for my setup for some reason. I kept searching for ways to flash TWRP and found another website that uses a different syntax. I gave it a go and TWRP flashed right away. This is the syntax that worked for me.
Fastboot flash boot twrp.img
At least that part of the problem is resolved.
Even after flashing RR with TWRP 3.0.20, the SIM/IMEI is still not showing. Recovery is still lost on first boot. Reinstalling TWRP on top of RR causes RR to not boot any more. I will have to look into the RR thread to investigate more.
I will mark this thread as Solved for the Command Not Allowed.
Crossed out everything cause that was not the correct solution. Striked them out to keep them as part of the troubleshooting steps history.
Oops duplicated post.
OK! So it looks like I have to correct myself here on my previous solution.
My solution from earlier for using "Fastboot flash boot twrp.img" is incorrect apparently. Don't use this!
That was the reason why my TWRP was lost after RR boot. The recovery partition comes after the boot and system partition. By flashing the recovery into boot, it screws up the order.
Nevertheless, the Command Not Allowed was still a problem if I tried to use "Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img"
Any ways I was still looking into this problem and started looking into the boot.img stuff and saw someone uses this command line: "fastboot erase boot". This helps someone being able to flash a boot.img when the user was having the Command not Allowed problem trying to flash a different img for the boot partition.
This gave me an idea to try and use "fastboot erase recovery".
I gave it a try and I was able to use "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" afterwards! It was done in a second.
Then I went through the normal steps of flashing RR and TWRP stayed this time. So now all is good with everything!
Any ways to recap, my full steps used for my RR Installation:
1. Flashtool to flash an Android 5.1.1 stock rom. I used C6903_14.6.A.1.236_1276. (obtained through Flashtool, Xperifirm) Your phone has to run in 5.1.1 for the SIM and IMEI to work in RR. Don't need to flash modem.zip, that's for C6902 only.
2. Fastboot flash erase recovery
3. Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
4. Follow instructions to flash RR normally.
5. Resize system partition size (for flashing GAPPS micro size or larger).
6. Flash GAPPS.
7. Flash su addon from Lineage's website to allow root for apps and ADB.
I hope this helps someone with similar problems in the future. Thanks to those who stop in to see me ramble to myself about silly stuff
I had the same error message and was able to successfully flash using the phone and the Android Studio Emulator app.
I was already rooted and had an unlocked bootloader.
I tried this solution and it said error: cannot "recovery": No such file or directory LOL even though it's right here and I use it all the time..........I just can't figure it out.
So i have Korean Version V40 (SKT_KR) on android 10 Q, tried to unlock my bootloader.
First thing i tried was flashing abl_a with V35abl using QFIL, but it got soft-bricked and couldn't get into fastboot mode.
Then i installed stock ROM (android 10Q) using LGUP, after that i redid everything, but i flashed abl_b and it got into fastboot mode on V35 bootloader.
So i thought everything was fine and installed ablpiestock.iso thinking it would work. as you know it was for Android pie and i was on Android 10.
Now im stuck on Fastboot, no download mode, not booting into system, and on the bootloader it only shows power off and restart.
Im just very confused were do i go from here.

Model number LM-v4059N (jydypn)
SKT_KR (Korean version)
Android 10
Device State - Unlocked
Also i know my IMEI if that helps

So no, it won't work with ablpiestock on Q. It's unfortunate but the directions, they were written when the person was on Pie, so they wrote it kind of like everyone else would be on Pie.
But what you should have done, before flashing any partition, is to save off the original of what's in that partition. So, you would have abl Q for whatever Q firmware you used lgup to install.
The v35 eng abl will not boot your device. That's because it's Oreo based, it won't boot anything but Oreo roms. But it can be used to unlock the bootloader, then, you flash YOUR original abl back with it, then reboot, and it should be all set.
If you didn't save your newly flashed (lgup) abl partition, then what did u flash? Kr Open 30f ? If so, I have the abl for that. But mention what u flashed and maybe someone will have it.
cheers

ahhh good, then follow this link and you'll find the boot+twrp image you need.
So with fastboot, flash this to your current slot boot partition. Then flash this abl to the abl partition. Then, boot to recovery, hold appropriate keys to do that.
follow steps to get recovery / now twrp. If it asks for pw, just cancel. Format data, then reboot recovery. Then flash magisk and dm_verity and you should be all set.
this is abl attached.

Okay so im trying to understand
First i fastboot flash abl_b kor_30f (im on b part)
Then i fastboot boot twrp
Them Resart into TWRP using power down + volume down
Then go from here?
Because i get error like this should i also flash to abl_b only?
I renamed abl_b to new, and twrp to boot for easier usage

So, no. First and foremost, don't flash anything to anywhere if you don't know what yer doing. That can result in trying to flash too big of an image to a partition that is too small, and you'll the overwrite the images near it, which could (soft) brick the device.
any abl image is only suppose to be flashed to an abl partition. Any Boot image is only suppose to be flashed to a boot partition, etc.
I'd suggest read the directions in the guide again, do ea step one at a time, if yer unsure what to do at any step, post in here, and one of us can clear it up.
cheers

So, I already told you... DO NOT FLASH WRONG PARTITION IMAGES TO WRONG PARTITIONS!!!
You just indicated trying to do exactly what I told you not to do!! You tried to flash the boot+twrp image (that's a BOOT image) to the abl partition!! THE ONLY THING you flash to an abl partition is an ABL IMAGE! NOT A BOOT IMAGE!!
I understand yer new to this, but don't make the mistake of hacking around doing anything u think **might** work. That's the wrong approach, because it could easily make things much worse than they are.
So again, what are you trying to do? One STEP AT A TIME, tell me the state of the device and what your goal is, I'll try to help you get there, but you have to have patience, don't try to run before u can walk.
cheers

okay. So from what you're saying, your current slot (be it a or b, I don't think we know), has the v35 eng abl flashed to the abl partition, that's why all you get when you try to boot is FastBoot.
To install a kdz (not dmz) and start over, you need to have download mode working, as I think you know. To get download mode to work there are some partitions that have to have the same variant and version, they can't be 'mismatched' for it to work.
And since you don't seem to have backups of the files your flashed over, the best I can recommend is to follow this link. In that link are the files needed to get lgup to work. They should ONLY be flashed to the exact partition they are for! Boot to boot, laf to laf, etc etc. (the only one in there not to use is the one with twrp in the name).
They would have to be flashed with qfil, which I think u have set up and used already. So once you've flashed them in qfil, exit out of qfil by holding pwr button and vol dn button. Then, when u hear windows chime (meaning exit), release pwr and vol dn buttons but then press vol up button. That should take u to lgup (download mode) and you can flash a kdz and start over.
Do that, and we'll go from there. cheers

yes, I know they are not what you currently have. But it will work to get to lgup, not to boot the device, only to get to lgup.
there's no order, I would have told you an order if there was one.
just re-read what I said. This allows you to go directly from qfil to lgup, use the key combo I mentioned.
It's at that point you can re-flash kor 30f, and start fresh.
Im still getting the same error.

you're suppose to be using qfil, not fastboot.
But how would i enter QFIL if i cannot enter 9008 mode?
why are u unable to enter 9008 mode?

I did now, thank you
I was just having problem clicking volume up down button so i thought it was only possible if the phone is booted.
Successfully installed the recovery files and booted into download mode.
Downloading original kdz and hopefully do all this all over again, this time backing up the files
Thank you for all your troubles, you single handedly helped me save my phone.

Another surprise, when i tried to install kdz on the phone, it says:
Error: 0x6004, CrossDL
judypn_lao_eea>@judypn_la
Both refurbish and upgrade options show same result.
This is the same version that i successfully flashed before
edit: shoot, i downloaded the wrong version

Great news, i flashed kdz using patched LGUP with custom cmd line. Now its working as intended, it shows OEM already unlocked in dev options. i patched abl_a to get magisk working ( i think my active slot is A now).
So i got root and magisk, but my goal is still have TWRP and install custom ROM.
So from what i gathered, i install v35 on abl_a, boot into fastboot, flash twrp to boot and flash orignal abl back and restard bootloader.
Or can i just flash twrp into boot_a in QFIL?
cheers
