Hey yall, Back when I didn't know any better I had an iphone and the power button was broken so I had an app that when I double clicked the home button it would turn off the screen.
I went to CM setting and found the thing that let me use the trackball to turn ON the phone, but Is it possible to get something simialer to what I had on the iPhone? a double click to turn off the screen thingy for the trackball?
Reteach yourself to use the power button the correct way.
Yeah that ^
Seriously you are going to kill the life of that track ball lol
I'd like to know an answer to this too, simply because my power button no longer works!

you can use power off widgets i see some in market there is some for reboot and i i remember well another to power off but need root
is there any possible way to be able to touch the screen and return its from the timed out backlight insted of the power button then the actual unlocking....
Not sure about touching screen, but there's an app called NoLock that will make it so there's no lockscreen and hitting the power button unlocks it. Eats battery though.

Is there any way? Probably. Is it a good idea? Probably not. Just having the screen up to your thigh in your pocket would be enough to turn the screen on and thus drain your battery.
Not just drain your battery, but imagine calling people unexpectedly, random texting, somehow enabling options and selecting factory reset . There's a reason why there's a lock/unlock button.
Being a lefty, I wish you could turn the screen on using the volume buttons instead.

I can. Hold them for a second and the screen should turn on when you release them. If it doesn't let me know I'd like to investigate further.

Nope, not working. It turns it on using NoLock but then that just changes the volume too.
Im running Darkys 7 btw.

Holding the volume button does not turn on the screen, you probably touched the power button with you middle finger which holding the volume button with your thumb.
Widget Locker
Try the app WidgetLocker--it's a couple bucks but lets you turn on the screen with the volume buttons if you want (any hardware button). It will also let you customize your lockscreen with widgets and unlock the screen using the soft keys at the bottom if you so desire.
Mentioned this app in previous threads, should really start getting a cut from the developer.

You really should believe people when they say something works. Just because your rom works one way doesn't mean anything about everyone else.
Now if someone would give me a link to the roms which don't unlock due to the volume buttons, I might be able to fix that.
lmao love the music

I am not using a custom ROM. Maybe some custom ROM has that feature added but it definitely does not work on stock AT&T ROM.
Works on stock 2.2 Froyo leak ROM

That's not a stock ROM by any means.
I wish the volume buttons were lower on the case. I have a tendency to squeeze them with my finger when pressing the power button one-handed.
Hello, i have the new rom eViL's NXSense v.1.26 - (F)The (I)Gravy (N)Train
I have a big issue.
When i put the phone on the pocket, the trackball option of wake and unlock, unlock my phone and touch thinks on the screen.
Is there an option or a way to turn off this function wake and unlock?
Please is there is anything, help me!
Thnx a lot.
try Spare Parts
There is not such thing in the setting, or in the main menu.
I look to all places on the rom, i don't know where i can search anymore.
Thnx
Com'on guys nobody know how to resolve this?
I cant take my phone with me outside, because of that. And to hold them in the hand , i don't want.
Pfff..so bad, this rom is awesome, but this thnig is bad.
In cyanogen ROM, in The settings, there is an option for the lock screen to be on or off. So if on, and the track ball was accidentally pressed in your pocket, nothing would happen because there's no way the swipe to unlock can be accidentally swiped.
Does your ROM have this option?
He have trackball unlock so if he press the trackball the phone wake up and if he press again the phone unlock... In my rom I have Button settings and there I have Trackball wake...
Spare parts is in the market.
Roger is like Obsy said. When i press once , wake, after that press again, and unlock. I don't have any button settings,to change that.
My rom is : eViL's NXSense v.1.26 - (F)The (I)Gravy (N)Train
I will tray the spare parts from the market, and then i told you how it work.
Thnx for the answers guys.
Spbeeking right now i will try this. Thnx
Spare parts, does not work, does not have that option. i have to try anotherthing

Thnx Crachek, i try dis right now, lets see how it works.
Yes it work, trackball still wake up the phone but now does not unlock them second time i push. well this is better. hope Evil, read my message and tell me how to do , to never wake the phone with trackball.
Ok it's official, the best forum ever xda, and nobody knows how to disable trackball wake and unlock. Even the creator don't answer to my pm. Well i guess i should change back to the original rom.
THnx everybody
There is no such option - means, the same file that you've flashed needs to be hacked (decompiled, changed and recompiled) again to remove the trackball wake.

Not true. I too am haunted with this issue on reider's CM10 ROM. I can verify the issue by pressing the trackball to wake, then mashing the screen with my palm a few times to unlock. Anyone experiencing this issue knows how annoying it is.
Has anyone come across a solution yet?

On my swipe lock screen, if i press the home button twice the voice recognition screen pops up and the phone is unlocked. Have you guys set that up on yours?
Yup its because of Vilingo. 2 clicks of the home button will unlock the screen and launch the app. Disabling it works I think....

i didn't for the moment, but the strange thing is that you can open Voice Talk app without unlocking the phone...
who have the Note without home button (SGH-i717) must unlock the screen first then from the home screen touch Applications > Voice Talk.
I could accept the double click on home only AFTER the screen has been unlocked

It is not a bug. It is a feature. If you press the home button twice the voice talk app is activated. This only happens if you haven't set up any screen lock such as pattern lock or pin lock.

Yes it is a feature. If you have not enabled any screen unlocking then pressing home button while phone is asleep wakes it up and takes you on the lock screen and now if you press home button twice it will open the "voice talk" app. This feature is built into the stock rom. Now if takes 20 or more presses before you get into the voice talk app then it means there is some problem with the home button or some other settings in your phone. I hope it explains.

my home button works perfectly...that's the situation now that i've upgrated to ICS: only 2 clicks.
on GB 2.3.6 (20-30 clicks), and other users had the same issue. This can't be a feature.
In my opinion the screen must be unlocked with a swipe/gesture/etc because i set THAT unlocking method, i didn't set "double click on home button" (this option not even exist)!!
If i want to open voice talk i can swipe and then double click on home button...
Anyway on GB i'm pretty sure that doesn't work very well or isn't a feature (maybe a bug).
it's not a bug
this happens when you've changed your rom, etc
your previous setting of lock screen stays, but you'll have to "reset" it again by going to the security settings. once you've reenabled the passcode/swipe, this will not happen again
on my older phones (xperia xz1) there was an option to disable the lockscreen at all if the device is unlocked by the smartlock. this way i only need to press the powerbutton to get to the homescreen.
was i could not find any settings or apps: anyone knows a way to disable the lockscreen while smartlock has the device unlocked?

I have a Note 9 (SM-N960F) model.
Stock Firmware, no root.
Using Nova Prime launcher.
I have Fingerprint unlock and Smart lock enabled.
If i pick my phone up from sleep (locked)
i either press/swipe down
where my Home button (not visible) should be and phone goes directly to Homescreen.
Otherwise, i use Fingerprint unlockfrom "sleep" directly to home screen.
No need to press power button.
I'm sure this is better options.?
Only if you reboot phone or randomly sometimes (it's a security measure) I have to manually unlock.
This is the exact problem
Of your phone is already unlocked you still need to swipe up. I don't want to see any lockscreens at all. Why is this even implemented this way.
What I want is being able to use the phone without any unnecessary swiping after pressing the power button. (Razer phone 2 and Sony had an option for this)

i think you misunderstood my point.
I was trying to describe my button press action.
You don't actually swipe nothing.
You don't see the lockscreen, at all.
Call it press etc,
where the home button is.
It unlocks to Desktop.
You don't see the lockscreen at all.
From device sleep,
i "press " Home button
and device goes straight to Desktop.
Fingerprint it's the same. It goes straight to the Desktop.,
( You don't see a lockscreen)
Good luck
Yeah i got it
But that's the problem: you still need to swipe up the lockscreens if you try to unlock by the power button. Unlocking via Iris or fingerprint or pressing the invisible home button world great and you skip the lockscreens completely. But after pressing the power button the is 1 more action that is needed.
On the screenshot you can see (in German) "unlocked by smart lock" after trying to unlock with the power button

dont use the power button.
use the finger print or home button in conjunction with smart lock policy.
you'll get better milage off of the power button this way.
Yeah... Don't use the power button...
No sorry not an option ^^
Is one of the reason I don't use it, and also because I don't know the effective range.
But leaving the home button enable requires to let the "screen touch sensor" active so it will inevitably consume more battery am I wrong?
Are you on Oreo or Pie?
On Pie, this works fine for me. I press the power button, it unlocks with intelligent unlock and goes directly to the home screen/last app. No swipe needed. Does the same when I press the hard press home button.
If you're on Oreo, do what bober10113 says.
I am on Pie, and I am constantly getting the lock screen where it says unlocked by smart lock, but I still have to swipe.
