So I've tested twice and every time I uninstall Xposed framework my phone gets snappier. This is even with the write protection bypass. Anyone else notice this?

Hmmm.... I've never noticed a difference. It's been pretty straight across the board.
This phone is always crazy fast for me, faster than my HTC One oddly enough.
No issue but I did the old fashion way of rooting this beast , I think either a clean install is needed or there's bugs that still need to be ironed out with jcase's root method

Maybe it's a non unlocked bootloader thing? Or maybe a specific module. I was using gravity box and Moto Xposed.

Both me and my coworker noticed increased lag and worse battery with Xposed installed on our Moto X's. It's good, but for my priorities it's not optimal.

Oh wow...I didn't know it was that simple. To clarify, I just have to unlock the bootloader via Motorola's official website, flash either TWRP or CWM and flash the latest SuperSU?
In that exact order?
And you get write to system privileges? That actually seems easier to me than rebooting back and forth between recovery and normal for write permissions.

I actually haven't rooted yet. Your method just seems like less of a pain but yea, the warranty thing sucks. I'm still hoping someone comes up with an unofficial way to unlock the bootloader for the Sprint version.

Same here. I enjoyed the customization Xposed brings but for now it's back to stock.
You can reinstall

Definitely seeing lag with Xposed. I ended up uninstalling it, too. Some of those tweaks were nice, though...hopefully it will get better and I can reinstall it at some point.
This may be a dumb question... How do you go about uninstalling xposed framework? Would it be just by uninstalling the app, or via some other way?

Thus far I have:

-Installed Xposed for gravitybox
-Gotten tethering to work (what a pain that rooting doesnt just solve that problem)
-Deleted bloatware
Am I missing anything others are doing?

Can someone with the newly updated moto camera and gallery post the apks and odex files? I like the moto camera/gallery a lot more than the stock ones and I have searched high and low without success.
Edit: thank you to @SX86 for making a flushable zip of the updated gallery and camera apps!

I'm not sure, I know versions are posted there, thus one doesn't have HDR+ which leads me to believe it's might be the Moto G camera. I'm still looking for a viable replacement of the stock camera app that doesn't suck.

They would force close when I booted up without even opening them.

Yes, I'd be interested it getting at least the Moto Gallery working. (Should have been included anyway.)

Is there a way to enable Ambient Display in Stock Marshmallow, like it used to in Stock Lollipop?
I know, Moto Display is supposed to be efficient than Ambient Display, but MD messes up when one changes dpi, while AD doesn't.
Thanks
My answer (grain of salt here ) is no , not unless you run a custom rom or possible there is an xposed module or get an app that mimics that feature.

If you're rooted, you can install XPosed and use the App Settings module to keep MD at stock, while changing the rest of the UI.

I just found the answer:
Just rename MotoDisplay_3.0.apk in /system/priv-app, restart and you're good to go (for example add .bak at the end).
By the way, the AD settings just returned to the Settings>Display after this.

As churapa pointed out on the "Enjoy Moto G4 Apps on Any Motorola Device" thread, if you are running a custom ROM and want to write to an external SD card you will need to:
1.- In /data/system
look for packages.xml
In there, look for com.motorola.camera1
2.- Add
Code:
<item name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" granted="true" flags="0" />
Right after <perms>
3.- Save and Reboot
Thanks to MK99 for providing the V6.0.43.10 apk, DevendraMilmile121 for providing the V6.0.54.1 apk, igna.98 for providing the V6.0.78.1 and V6.0.84.1 apks so i could make these updates and Ayrlon for pointing out the V6.0.86.7 apk was available for download which i downloaded and updated from http://motorola-mobility-camera.apk.black/

its was also pointed out on the original thread that the shutter speed setting does not work and if your running the stock 6.0 rom the ISO setting also does not work.
its a guess but i think the shutter speed setting is not working because an initial value is never being set in this file.
you can see an initial value being set at line 5613 when "setISOValue(ISO_AUTO)" is called but the setExposureTime method (at line 7112) is never called in the same way anywhere in this file.
Shame it doesn't have option to shoot raw.
