The answer to both questions is no.
I think you don't need to install them,
but it's possible!
I'm using the Moto camera, at least ...

Hi all. So I bought a Moto X developer edition. Of course has bootloader unlocked. Question I have is regarding root. All i have to do is install custom recover and from there install supersu? Even if I have the 4.4.2? If i install the 4.4.3 update before rooting, same steps? Thanks.

I have a (sort of) similar question: I've read that Samsung S5's dev edition won't receive regular OTA updates. My friend has this phone but wants the DE and is concerned that it also won't get the OTAs. Is that accurate? I saw that the OP asked about 4.4.3 so I'm assuming that this will be updated as often as the non-DE, correct? Thank you in advance!
Yup same method I used philz touch recovery flashed SuperSU then went to Philz Setting and chose fix root.

Hi
I had my moto x unlocked and I flashed verizon 4.4.4 stock rom, but now I want to change back to England version of 4.4.4, but there is no sbf for me, so I want to request a CWM backup of England version of XT1052 which included boot, system and recovery, thank you
Also,is the baseband of Asia retail version XT1052 same as England version's?

can you still get into recovery like CWM or TWRP? If yes and if someone posted the backup .zip, you can put it in TWRP or clockwokmod in sdcard, and restore it in recovery , that's what I want to do

If your phone has an unlocked bootloader, just go to whatever custom recovery you've installed, and take a backup of your system from there.

Not if you ONLY check SYSTEM and BOOT. Then none of your data will be included in the backup. These guys really need a backup - I know they will be extremely grateful if you share your backup with them.
:good:
Yup. I do need the backup ASAP. Thanks guys.

A little question. Will a French firmware of XT1052 work properly on an Asia retail device? I mean, are the partitions slightly different or something?

Its not recommended to use other carrier Roms because when ota time comes, your phone can get messed up. Is your boot loader unlocked ?

The easiest guide I found to do it without root is this http://droider.eu/2013/07/22/morelocale-2-not-working-on-4-2-2-without-su-or-pm/ . Note I'm not responsible if you brick your device which probably won't happen.

Unlocked the bootloader and install the XT1052 European Firmware. That's what I did on my Moto X. I don't know if Polish is in there but there is a lot more than the 4 languages that it originally came with.

Is it possible to develop this ROM for our device anyone?

Of course it's possible, only someone has to have the time to solve all errors (if any come up) and build it
